Me: 30 DH: 31 Married: 2012 BFP #1 Sept 2014, MMC Dec 2014 | BFP #2 May 2015, DD Jan 2016 | BFP #3 May 2017, MC July 2017 | BFP #4 Jan 2018, MC Feb 2018 | BFP #5 July 2018, fingers crossed
My toddler has been waking me up at 2:30am to go potty, even though at that point she's already wet her pullups and just needs a change. I'm at a loss of what to do. I'm so tired, and so is she in the morning. It's leading to some rough wakeups with lots of tantrums before I get a chance to have coffee...
Also, I went to a cookie exchange over the weekend and I have my Glucose test on Thursday and now they're just sitting there teasing me.

@meggyme don’t have advice on the night waking to go potty / get a fresh pull-up, just wanted to say we definitely went through that phase in potty training. You’re probably already doing this, but making sure she goes right before bed may help.
@lelkcot, yeah we're doing that. She does get out of bed about 5-10 minutes after she goes down saying she has to go potty, but I think it's more of a stall tactic. I might let her go that one last time and see if it changes anything. The issue is if she tries to go and doesn't have to, she refuses to get down until she does something or I force her and she throws a fit. She'd sit there for 30 minutes if I let her.

DH has this new alarm set up on his phone, where the alarm goes off and then it gives him his "updates" for the day. Every freakin' morning at 6am that thing goes off and here's freakin' Google "your commute time to work is 7 minutes" "here's your news!" and it wakes me up! I changed my work schedule on purpose....so I could sleep in longer while I still can.
I was sooo pissed when it went off this morning and then DD came in our room around 6:30am, wide awake. DH had still not gotten up out of bed. Needless to say I was not able to sleep in until 7:30am as planned and DD still didn't get dressed until 8:15 when I already had the car started and loaded. I hate Mondays.....
@novelblessings since having kids I'm a much lighter sleeper anyway, so this would not fly. Also, who needs a traffic report for a 7 minute commute?! And I need a cup of coffee before I even think about being able to listen to the news.
DD1: June '16 DD2: March ‘19 :::: Married since 2011 :::: USN Wife ::::
@meggyme Yea....I'm not sure. I think he thought it was cool to add it on. It says something like "good morning" and gives the weather, commute time and conditions, and then on to his "tech news" updates. I also wake easier than he does, but usually I didn't hear his alarm, until he changed it recently. It used to be that the Google Home in the living room would give him his "news" in the morning but now that he figured out he can put it on his phone right after his alarm....omg! He turns the damn thing off anyways and goes back to sleep. Pointless!
@meggyme You're not alone in the toddler bedtime annoying routine. DD is 2 and bedtimes have been SO SO SO rough and it's consistently been between 9:30-10pm before she's actually down for the night. Last night was "I forgot to give you a hug" "I have to say goodnight to the tree" "I have to say goodnight to the cat" "I forgot to give you a kiss" "I forgot to give you a high five" "I have to brush my teeth" "I have to go potty" "Can I have some milk?"
I wish I was kidding. Just know that you're not alone!
@HoneyBear40 DD has gotten better since I used to put her down and then go downstairs. She would just wander around upstairs and play with things she wasn't supposed to. A couple weeks ago she sprayed her hair with my perfume and her pillow still smells like it. Now I stay upstairs until I'm pretty sure she's asleep so I can cut her off at the pass and just put her right back to bed, but there's always at least one time she gets out of bed. I can handle that, it's the 2am wake up from a dead sleep that is killing me.

@meggyme DS went through that exact same phase. In good news, he’s past it now, so hopefully this will be short term! (He’s moved on to turning in a light to “read” after bed/nap time...) @novelblessings yep, that would get my husband wacked with a pillow. I’m so not a morning person! AFM I called the nurse line this am about the reduced movement from baby girl and got sent straight to my drs office (talk about not being reassuring, the advice nurse took me for worried to panicked). US showed all is well with baby, so I’m relieved. But since I was rushing, I didn’t call DH on the way to the drs, and he was kind of pissed when I updated him after the fact... Which is totally fair. Wife fail... Also, I’m getting sent for a growth scan which is supposedly just a precaution, but still has me a little nervous.
My husband has two alarms and the old school clock alarm instantly puts me in a ragey mood. I told him if that alarm wakes the baby that he will need to find a new place to sleep bc her and I have dibs for the master bedroom. ***************************************** I took my son to an 8 am dental appointment this morning... his appointment is actually tomorrow...
We have two sleeping beauties in heaven. Jack gained his wings on 09/02/2016. Kali gained her wings on 07/28/2015. They will be forever missed.
I'm right there with both of you. "I have to wrestle daddy. I have to say goodnight to the dog. I need my bunny. I need to pee. I need my doggie. I need to poop. No I don't want a pull up. WHERE ARE MY PULL UPS?!" IT'S NEVER ENDING. And I have no solution, but this made me LOL.
Another day, another flaky babysitter... at least she gave me a couple days notice instead of a couple hours. And DH hasn't gotten tickets to his Christmas party yet, which is rumored to be sold out anyway. How am I the only person who can get my shit together?

My random..... Why the hell is it so hard for me to drink enough water over the weekend? I do so well during the week but lose it all over the weekend and then end up paying for it Monday. Last week I had a headache and felt off and my stomach kinda felt upset. Today I have been SUPER crampy! I'm sure it's just the lack of water because everything else is still fine.
Also.... My little jumping bean... More like jumping monkey.... Kicked my right in my bladder last week and made me pee all over myself. I was so irritated. The only good thing, I was already home and standing in my bathroom. But still...
@novelblessings 😂 I bet! I get up before DH 3 days a week and use my vibrating alarm on my Fitbit, so DH would get major grief if he had a super loud alarm on the days he gets up first!
@valentynsi I almost wet the bed last night. Lo was jumping around on my bladder and I told DW I better get up and go before I pee myself. I had just gone before I went to bed.
I just want to fuss a little. My maternity leave is allotted at 12 weeks FMLA with my job. I will have 5/6 weeks paid with my vacation time/PTO saved up....So basically i have to save up the other half...which really isn't that bad, in my opinion, and i figure with me not going anywhere thats going to keep expenses down because i spend a lot on fast food and gas.....my mom tells me this weekend that she thinks i should go back to work after 6 weeks. I am really annoyed about it. i know its easy to just ignore her, but my mom is one of those people that will try to emotionally blackmail you into what she wants you to do. She is going to be the one watching the baby when i go back to work so i don't even understand why she is rushing me back to work. She tells me she doesn't understand why she is trying to "help me" if i am just going to be stupid. I told her i am trying to save up money for the time with my SO and she tells me "you aren't going to do it anyway so stop being dumb"....like, it infuriated me. this is my last child, and I don't see why it bothers HER that i want to get as much time as i can with the baby before i come back to a job that will BE here. I'm also probably going to have a scheduled c-section, so i don't even think 6 weeks is enough recovery. I'm not worried about money, because i know that will work itself out in the end....i'm just so frustrated because i know this will not be the end of it. I had 18 weeks paid at my last job with my first baby so this wasn't even an issue...i'm just annoyed.
@zionsmama85 that sucks that your mom is pressuring you like that. For c-sections I do think it's typically 8 weeks to recover. I hate that money is what ends up being the determining factor in how long new mothers stay home with their babies so often. Can you refuse to engage her in that conversation? Say something like "thanks for your concern, I will let you know if my plan changes." Unless you need her input, it's probably better if you just refuse to talk with her about it.
DD1: June '16 DD2: March ‘19 :::: Married since 2011 :::: USN Wife ::::
@zionsmama85 that sounds so frustrating - - I would get so pissed at anyone who called me dumb, especially when personal health or baby's health is involved!! I tend to be the type to confront these things head on (otherwise I stew and let it build up until I explode!!), so I would have tried to say something like 'why would you say that to me? It feels hurtful and and unnecessary!' but it has taken a loottt of practice to be able to be direct. I just feel like I can't change how other people act, but I can act in a way that I'm proud of and that makes me feel like I stood up for myself. I don't know if that's helpful but I am sorry you have to deal with this!
@zionsmama85 Well that is annoying, I'm sorry. I would just confront her and tell her "That is your opinion but this is the decision I've made that is best for me, end of conversation". Maybe even explain that if you have a c-section you have to have more time off anyways for recovery. I'm not sure what type of relationship you have with her but I know if my mom said something like that I would shut it down quickly.
@zionsmama85 oh I’d be upset by that comment! I think that 6 weeks isn’t enough time with after anyways. I’m hoping to be off for 12 weeks as well even though I only have enough time for 5 weeks. All you can do is explain that to your mom and then tell her you understand her concerns but it’s not really for her to decide. As others have said if you have a C-section according the recovery time is 8 weeks anyways. If you can be off longer I think it’s wonderful for both baby and momma! I think that the US maternity standards are crap anyways.
@meggyme we flew in May to Hawaii and in July to Europe to visit family (6 flights!), but we didn't have any liquids in our carry-ons since DS was 2.5 and can eat everything we do. Would it be an option to buy food/drinks after security? The last time we had to be concerned of that was at 13 months when we flew to San Diego. I took UHT milk (which doesn't need to be refrigerated) and some pouches. They actually made me open one pouch for checking, which I think was horrible because I had to feed it to him right away instead of my plan for take-off. So if possible, try to avoid that because you might run into crazy agents like I did.
Yeah, we flew in May but I've forgotten all that we packed. And it was night time so we didn't need much. I was hoping to bring some shelf stable milk boxes and a couple pouches but I wasn't sure if it was worth it or not. One of our flights is from Washington DC to LAX, so it'll be a long one and I want to have some food that won't cost an arm and a leg. Maybe I'll just plan to stock up during our layover.
DD1: June '16 DD2: March ‘19 :::: Married since 2011 :::: USN Wife ::::
@meggyme would she eat KIND bars or the like? That's what we use as snacks, and they are filling and easy to pack. I always carry some in my car for the days he doesn't nap at daycare and there is a chance he falls asleep before we get home (long commute in rush hour).
@mihaelams1 probably. I'll just plan to pack more solid type food than pouches and get a cup of milk from starbucks. They usually sell the horizon milk boxes I would get anyway, I just didn't want to have to spend so much money on it since I have them at home.
DD1: June '16 DD2: March ‘19 :::: Married since 2011 :::: USN Wife ::::
@meggyme it helped that we stopped doing pouches at 1.5 and milk at around 2. It made outings so much easier. I think he still gets enough dairy from yogurt, cheese and cottage cheese. So unless she asks for it, I would just get a water or juice bottle, which is easier logistically.
@meggyme we flew this summer and took pouches... we just made sure they were under the oz limit and in a quart size zip lock bag. We also took a lot of other snacks and gave DS his milk while we were in line to drop off our checked bag/in line at security for a 5:30 am flight. They didn’t question his empty cup, we rinsed it well, and filled it with water for the flight.
As far as I know, kids food is not subject to the quart-size limit, so you can have it separate from your zip-lock bag. But it doesn't hurt to double-check...
ETA: On the other hand, if this can help you avoid having them opened "for testing" then definitely go for it! I remember I almost cried there when they asked me to open the pouch.
@meggyme we end up flying several times a year to visit family. We usually stick with more regular snacks like individual goldfish, pretzels, etc. I’ve also brought whole fruit on. Some airports have scanned the outside of every package so beware that might happen.
We always travel with empty contigo water bottles and refill them at the water refill stations in almost every airport. Don’t worry about drying them through security, they always have water droplets in it and they have never said anything to us. Just a warning, always make sure you unscrew the lid after take off, otherwise it will squirt water all over the place!
@meggyme we flew for Thanksgiving and didn't have any trouble getting milk boxes and yogurt pouches through TSA, they just swabbed the outside and sent us on our way!
My random this morning is that my DH needed a ride to work (he needed one home yesterday, too, because he was having some vertigo). He works 6-230, so I woke up at 530, when my alarm wasn't actually set until 8!
I had some coffee on the drive there (only my 2nd cup this pregnancy) and now I feel both awake and tired. I only have 1 patient today, from 10-11. I ran a load of laundry and the dishwasher! And made plans in my head about where to move the adult sized bookcase that's currently in the nursery. Sooo good morning, ladies!! I hope I don't crash later because I want to go to my fit4baby exercise class at 630 tonight!
@abbykwail sounds like you had a very productive morning! I love when I have a day when I can just knock things off my list. Lately it feels like I need 4 more hours in the day, or at least 4 hours worth of energy.

Here’s my random... I’ll try and not make it too long.
If if you don’t know or remember I’m a teacher and well at one time I taught a class of K-2 students. We were learning the comprehension skill of imagery and visualization while reading. I was using Pinkalicious one day as the read aloud because it’s full of awesome visualization for teaching this particular skill. Now my class was almost always primarily boys at this school (and usually up to only 10 kids- they all have special needs). Well the parents weren’t supposed to ever come down to the room with their kids when they were late. However on this day during read aloud one of my kiddos came in late and his mom had brought him all the way down to the room. His mom was talking with my para for a bit before she left and I’m just teaching/reading away. I later learn that his mom was questioning my teaching because I was using a “girls book” to teach a class of primarily boys. My para explained to her why I picked the book and why we read only certain books for certain things. But clearly this mother didn’t care.
Fast forward almost 3 years ... we have a Pinkalicious Christmas book at our house and I got it out when I got out all the Christmas books earlier this month. My son is obsessed with that book! I didn’t ever show it to him, make it a big deal, etc he just picked it off the shelf and brought it to me to read to him. I have found him looking at it several times since and he’s had DH read it to him multiple times as well. I keep sending snapchats of him looking at it to my para (who sadly I know longer work with) but we are finding a good kick out of it.
@ashley14598 I don’t know why people get so bent out of shape about boy book/tv vs girl books/tv. DS adores pinkalicious on PBS!
AFM my random is a rant... We bought our house as a foreclosure 7.5 years ago being told the house was on sewer. This spring we almost listed our house and found out it was almost certainly on septic. Finally had someone out to find & service our septic system and found out there were roots in the pipes. Our bill tripled from the estimate and I seriously want to hunt down the people who initially owned our home and smack them for allowing trees to grow right next to the system!
