I flip my coworker off when he isn't looking. Like all the time; under the desk during meetings, when he leaves the room, when I see him walking to his car as I'm leaving.
He does NOTHING more than is required, never offers to help and has been passive aggressive about me coming in late for various doctors appointments.
I can't wait to leave him to suffer alone for 4 months of maternity leave over the summer. He doesnt know yet
My coworker is sick today and i am soooo happy. She is overly naive and joyful and just too sunshine and roses. She is just kind of stupid about the reality of life. She was home schooled and her social skills are limited. We share an office and her desk is covered with stuffed animals - shes almost 36.... everytime she is away even though it means more work for me its less stress than her stupidity.
I’m having my first real glass of wine tonight. It will be a small one but I’m really looking forward to it. It’s at a charity event with a lot of people I work with so I’m sure I’ll get the side eye from some but idgaf
@nmbrcrnchr1 I was actually thinking of having a small glass today too! Our kids will be in daycare and DH and I are off work. We were thinking of going to a nice lunch and wine sounds so good

@eleven_ and @nmbrcrnchr1 I'm bringing a bottle of wine home for Christmas and fully plan to have some. Not much, but it's one I got right before my BFP and it's totally a winter wine (red blend aged in whiskey barrels). I asked my OB yesterday about whether there were any concerns about me taking communion (didn't mention it was her own nurse who told me to ask...) and after she stopped snickering, she said that, despite new-ish recommendations from their governments, tons of women around the world have a glass of wine every day of their pregnancies and yet keep having healthy kids, so to use my instincts and common sense and take that as I will, but communion is the least of her concerns. Obviously everyone's OB is different but if she doesn't seem to have a problem if I have a couple ounces every once in a while, I'm for sure not waiting until June for my winter wine. (I didn't mention there that I let myself have two teaspoons out of my oh-so-classy old Nyquil dosing cup a couple weeks ago, rather than throw it out, because it was what was left in the bottle after using the rest in a slow cooker recipe.)
@eleven_ , @nmbrcrnchr1. @ki1244 I feel the same way. As soon as I actually find the thought of wine appealing again, I will have the occasional small glass after the first trimester is over. I think the Europeans have it right...moderation is key. They eat soft cheese and drink wine, and it doesn't seem to be a problem. They're also much more relaxed when it comes to what we can feed to babies, and when. They feed their kids nuts and seafood right from the start, and their allergy rates are lower than ours. To each their own, but I'm happy to be married to a European!
@bakerstreetboys YES. The listeriosis threat actually makes me angry. From The Bump's own articles, in the US, we average 4 million pregnancies per year...and about 200 cases of listeriosis in pregnant women. Which means about .0005% (and its actually lower for the population at large). The article had the nerve to say "If you want to reduce your chances to nearly zero," followed by the usual litany of rules...I about threw my phone when I read that. That IS nearly zero! And as long as you are alive and eating things that at some point should be refrigerated, you can never truly eliminate the risk because it can come up in anything...but I have yet to see the article warning me off of cantaloupe or celery, both of which had outbreaks more recently than deli meat. As soon as I saw that actual number, I quit worrying about whether my ham sandwich was fully steaming or my brie bites from the freezer aisle reached 160 degrees in the oven. I'm not making either of those my full-time diet, and I'm not actively trying to contract it (I still wash my produce and toss stuff after a week, unless it looks funky sooner) but I'm sure as heck not worried about having a cold sandwich or an over medium egg anymore.
@eleven_ yep! It's Apothic Inferno. Got it for $12 at Sam's, but I've seen it on sale for less. (I love cheap Midwestern groceries.) They also make one called Apothic Brew that's infused with cold-brew coffee and is AMAZING.
@wearyfuzzball@bakerstreetboys Oh good, I’m glad I’m not the only one who finds alcohol entirely unappealing right now. When will these food aversions go away?
My FFFC: its BF and I normal day off, but he has to work mandatory overtime at a nightmare event tonight. I’m secretly glad because it will give me time to catch up on my trashy reality shows that he complains about. Teen Mom and KUWTK here I come!
I confess that I belong in July but all my favorite people are in June and my BMB is lame so I spend more time lurking over here

I had a can of Coke and a bag of Famous Amos cookies for breakfast this morning. Food aversions are hitting hard this week, and the prison vending machines are really limited sooo....
@coco2787 no objections here 😁 @ki1244 that wine sounds delicious, might have to find a bottle for Christmas! @srscott3 that’s a good one! My curiousity also wants to know
It’s supposed to a winter mix here this weekend, which is super unusual for where I live. I plan on letting my kids watch too much TV, snuggling on the couch, and eating soft pretzels and dip.
My DD has a real bad cough, but I sent her to school. No other symptoms, but I’m still judging myself.
Last two pregnancies I drank a sip of DH’s beer or wine here and there. This year he is drinking more vodka and beers that I don’t like, so none for me so far.
Ha! I talk about it too much. But college basketball SERIOUSLY takes over your whole life. With all due apologies to the Texas gals, we're at the University of Nebraska.
Edit: to be clear, DH isn't the HEAD coach. If we were pulling that salary I wouldn't be nearly as cheap as I am. He's an assistant. But he has a fake Twitter page that someone made and actually tweets from, so I'll call that his break into the big time.
I fed my dog a benedryl last night because he was being super needy and annoying and I didn’t have the energy to walk and wear him out. Really did the trick.
@ki1244 I love Apothic wines!! They're usually my go to. If you can find it, 1000 Stories is amazing!! It's also aged in whiskey barrels and my absolute favorite. I used to find it at Kroger in TN. Its about $18 a bottle. @eleven_ you might like this one as well. All this wine talk is making me want some!
@mkfolse22 I think I've had that one! The liquor store near us has a wine tasting every month with 15 kinds of wine -- for free. They theme it every month, so sometimes it's good wines for the holidays or for summer, sometimes it's 15 kinds of pinot noir, sometimes it's all wines under $10. The guys working there not only know me by name, they know before they pour it which wines I'll like or dislike. (I should probably be ashamed of that, but I'm not.) So because of those tastings, I've gotten familiar with a LOT of brands I probably wouldn't have otherwise.
That being said, it's a rare occasion where I'll pay more than $15 for a bottle of wine -- pretty much just Meiomi pinot noir or chardonnay, or a local one if I'm visiting somewhere (some girlfriends and I did a trip a couple years ago to northern Virginia, and hit 17 wineries in four days, including 7 in one day...). Otherwise, I've had wayyyy too much good, inexpensive wine to justify spending more than that! And now I want some for lunch.
May I post another confession? I don't fully understand the purpose of a Diaper Genie.
If you empty the baby's trash every day, it's not an issue. Otherwise, you can put a week's worth of poop diapers in a Diaper Genie and you'll never smell it. Occasionally when I flip the lid open and get a whiff of what's lurking in there, I thank God I have one lol.
@emeraldcity603 my DH doesn't either (so all the suggestions to have a sip of your husband's wine or beer...doesn't quite work for us, since I don't generally want his root beer). I figure I married my designated driver, so yay for me -- and he's in a field where drinking is SUPER SUPER common so it's not like he has a problem with others having it. He just chooses not to. I can also count on one hand the number of times I've actually been drunk, generally in my early 20s...but I do like my wine.
I don’t listen to a lot of those rules. I’m not out smoking butts or chugging beer or having the dirty martini with blue cheese olives I want...but I’m eating sandwich meat and sushi. And I’ll order a special glass of wine here or there. I mostly don’t finish it but a taste or two is nice.
I feel like im more apt to get sick from a fruit salad or an actual salad.
While I'll say I'm jealous of other countries maternity policies, even if I was offered a year I'm not sure I would take it. Not because of new baby but mostly because I don't think I could stay home with my toddler and a new baby all day without losing my mind. Six months would be my max.
@carleym93 Bagels are life and you should feel no shame in eating all of them
@emeraldcity603 I don’t drink either. I’m just not interested, for lots of reasons, the top one now being that the taste is atrocious to me. Of course according to my husband I just had terrible wine, but still. Someday when I’m not a one woman baby show we’re gonna do some wine tasting, but even if it tastes good I doubt I would be swayed.
@skatejawn27 I have a diaper genie and I really don’t use it. It was more of a pain for me then just throwing the diapers into regular trash. And I don’t take it out more than normal. Maybe the smell just doesn’t bother me? I don’t really notice a smell until I actually take it out and have to stick my head next to it.

My family is very anti-alcohol for religious reasons, and while I don’t really see anything wrong with drinking some alcohol, it’s easier to just not.
