Hope this was okay to start - I didn't see one for this month yet and I know I could use some FTM love!
Due Date/W+D: 6/22 - 11+5
Any Appointments Coming Up? Questions? I have my NT scan coming up next Friday. I'm excited to get through that. My NIPT should be in early that week. I was a little annoyed they were spaced apart since it seems like other ladies had theirs done same day? But no big deal I suppose.
How are you really feeling? Symptoms have lightened and I am feeling more like myself so I am just enjoying that right now. My upper back feels tight and achy constantly so I think I'm ready for a massage! Emotionally I am still wondering a little bit what the hell DH and I got ourselves into. I got really overwhelmed reading the breast feeding discussion thread and I was just super feeling the pressure that day. I've always had the attitude that you go in hoping for the best but expecting the worst and that BF thread just had me a little dizzy on just how complex it really is physically and emotionally.
Any trips lined up for this month? Headed to NYC this weekend for a little getaway with DH - I'm finally feeling a little sexy and we could use some time together now that I don't feel like hell all day.
GTKY: How did you and your SO meet? We met on a motorcycle ride in Colorado almost 4 years ago. I was on a friends bike and the seat was uncomfortable so I made my way to DH and he said I could ride on the back of his bike. He literally saved my ass that day and we've been together ever since.
Any Appointments Coming Up? Questions? NT scan and NIPT blood draw next Thursday (12/13). I am also getting my blood drawn this Friday (12/7) and seeing my endo next Friday (12/14) to make sure my TSH levels are good.
How are you really feeling? I'm a mixed bag of emotions. I'm excited that I'm nearing my second trimester and we will be telling more people. I'm really hoping this also brings some nausea relief 🤞 A lot of general nerves. I'm assuming a lot of this is FTM jitters, but I question every cramp and ache I get in my body wondering if something is wrong. I'm also nervous about the NT scan next week and hoping they don't find anything concerning. Then of course there is this reality sinking in that life is going to be SO different in a few months.
Any trips lined up for this month? Too many. Wedding this weekend in Hilton Head and heading down to Florida for Christmas.
GTKY: How did you and your SO meet? We met my first week in college!
@wearyfuzzball what part of Florida? That’s where we live now. Hilton Head is soooo beautiful and relaxing. I was there a few years ago for a wedding and I loved walking on the beach. But yeah my FTM brain is so all over the place just trying to prepare myself, didn’t even know there were different ways to circumcise either, I told DH to read up as if it’s a boy we will go that route. You’re so right about the not knowing I’m just thankful I get a little heads up info here.
Any Appointments Coming Up? Questions? U/s next Thursday plus NT test.
How are you really feeling? I'm with you ladies about the BF discussion. I'm just getting used to having bigger boobs (small chest here) never mind what I have to do with them. I'm going to buy the book that was suggested.
Any trips lined up for this month? Sadly, no. Unless you count crisscrossing the state christmas eve and christmas day to see both my family and my husbands.
GTKY: How did you and your SO meet? In college! I was dating someone at the time so we were friends for about a year until the timing was right. Going on almost 9 years!
**lurking** I hate that ya'll were overwhelmed by the BF thread. I highly recommend that book I posted. It lays it all out in a very organized way. It has sections on all the possible issues you may have when starting too. I felt very confident going into BF after reading it.
@emeraldcity603 I hope you didn't take it the wrong way. It was super informative and opened my eyes to a lot of issues that could potentially come up. Im glad its there and would read it all again. I've never really had anyone close to me who was super open about BF issues so I always assumed it was just something that was the moms choice and came naturally if she wanted to do it. Obviously I was living a fantasy 😂
@emeraldcity603 all the information on that thread was so good and so informative. I’m so happy to have it as a scource. I meant overwhelmed more as you won’t know till you’re going through it/trial and error/ I’m already mourning my night sleep kind of way. Also it was so helpful to see moms like “don’t drive yourself nuts have formula as a backup”. This was something I didn’t even consider and now will.
Due Date/W+D: Always changing...now it's 7/4 and it may be pushed back to 6/22-ish
Any Appointments Coming Up? Questions? I just had an US and my NIPT blood draw. My next appt isn't until January! I don't really have questions. I'm a pretty relaxed pregnant person and my midwife said several times it looks like there's a healthy baby in there. So I'm just waiting for NIPT results before I get worried.
How are you really feeling? Much, much better, and finally feeling a little excited. It's starting to feel real and we're getting closer to telling people.
Any trips lined up for this month? Yes! We go to Paris next week!! I'm a little sad I will not be drinking wine, but I will be eating croissants to my heart's content.
GTKY: How did you and your SO meet? We actually met (while I was in college) at a new year's eve party. He was with his friend who was dating the host. The host was the cousin of my 'date'. We were the only people who didn't know anyone else at the party, so we ended up talking. He actually forgot my name, and I gave him a hard time about it lol. We'll have met 11 years ago this NYE.
I am in full agreement over the overwhelming-ness of the BF discussion; not because people weren't super helpful and honest, but rather it can go so many different ways. Every baby and body is different and different things work for different people. It's hard to take into account so many different experiences. We're starting out so well informed, like @cricket1688 I'm also hyper aware of how much sleep I'll be losing and grieving the loss of the lifestyle I have now. It's a tough change.
Due Date/W+D:June 3rd/14+2 (but I think it's probably more like 14+4 )
Any Appointments Coming Up? Questions? I have a regular OB appointment on Dec 20th. I will have my anatomy scan in early January. I don't really have any questions for you guys, but next time I see my OB I'm going to ask about finding a pediatrian. Hopefully they have some recommendations!
How are you really feeling? Well, I thought my MS was gone, but that was too good to be true. It's not even MS, I get sick close to the end of the day. I've thrown up Monday and Tuesday night this week. Last night I actually vomited a couple of times. And oh my gosh my boobs! I can deal with the pain, the size is getting out of control. Prior to my BFP I was a 32G (US) and now I'm up to a 32J! I went up three cup sizes! Ah! I don't know what I'm going to do if they get any bigger!
Any trips lined up for this month?Yep, we are getting ready to go to Florida for Christmas! I'm pretty excited about that, but bathing suit shopping has been a little difficult.
GTKY: How did you and your SO meet? I met my husband back when we were in high school. We were actually in the same nerdy school club together (model united nations). I met him on a trip for one of our competitions. He was a freshman and I was a sophomore. We started dating and just stayed together. We never broke up or took a break even though we went to different universities.
Any Appointments Coming Up? Questions? First appointment with the actual OB tomorrow (so far I've just seen nurses)! I've had a lot of friends who have seen her and loved her, so I'm pretty excited. She's been practicing obstetrics longer than I've been alive. I've got my list of "is this OK, is this OK, how about this" stuff for her, but my closest friend who saw her told me to throw the list out the window because her only rule is "If you feel OK and your instincts are OK with it, do it" which I kind of love. I've hated the Pregnancy Prison so far (all the things we avoid to "lower" our risk of listeria -- which already is at a .0005% rate, which is insanely low to begin with -- is ludicrous) so having a medical professional tell me exactly how much of that is straight baloney is exciting.
How are you really feeling? Really? Still terrified. I'm with you gals, the BF thread is a lot. Great info, but honestly the more I read about it, the less I actually want to do it. I'll probably still give it the ole college try, but holy shit that's a lot to take in (I legitimately thought it was like "here's a boob kid, you know what to do" and had never heard of them latching or having to learn proper holds or whatever) and literally none of it sounds appealing in the slightest. But I get the feeling that's the tip of the iceberg when it comes to this mom-ing stuff and it'll all be like that, and in that case I'm not sure WTF we did.
Any trips lined up for this month? Flying to DC for New Years. This was supposed to be DH's year for Christmas, but his family is in Virginia Beach and flights there out of Omaha on the tight schedule we'd be on (he has a game the 22nd and practice the 26th) were RIDICULOUSLY expensive, and for 2.5 days it was hard to justify it. But we have a game at Maryland on the 2nd, so everyone is driving up to DC (since it's like 25 minutes from College Park) and we'll meet them there on the 31st to spend a couple days with them. Let's be real, I'm very much looking forward to having a sip or two of their champagne.
GTKY: How did you and your SO meet? At work! I used to work in our college athletic department, and was actually really close with the staff prior to DH's. So when they were fired, I was IRATE, since some of my best friends lost their jobs I thought unnecessarily -- but one got to keep his job, and he told me I should come meet the new guys, which I had no interest in AT ALL. (My exact words were "Yeah, no, Jim, obviously I hate them.") But one of the new coaches was insanely good-looking and I had run into him on a few occasions at work things and downtown with friends, so when I had a meeting over in their building one night, I stopped over to flirt with him -- and wound up meeting DH instead. We went on our first date two days later, and in 15 months to the day, we were married. (Coach Hottie was invited -- and five years later he's coaching elsewhere, still single, still gorgeous, but probably has contracted at least four strains of chlamydia. I'm good with the coach I got instead.)
@ki1244 My OB is very much the same way, which makes me way less stressed. She's very lax on the food (as long as it's from a "reputable" source - aka no gas station sushi). She was also way chill about working out restrictions. Originally my trainer gave me a lot (no jumping, no weights on my hips/belly, etc) but my OB just said to keep my HR around 140. Also - You make me feel better for living in such ignorant bliss 😂 I was honestly shocked to hear of all of the issues that could come up during BF. I'm in the same boat now... what else am I missing?
@ki1244 my OB is lax too. I’m a stomach sleeper and she was just like, you’ll know when it’s uncomfortable. Also I’d hurt someone for a glass of wine right now. It’s been a day. But I’ve taken 1 small sip from DH wine glass here and there since I got pregnant. I know that’s frowned upon..
@cricket1688 I'm not frowning! I went to a farmer's market over the weekend, and there was a local winery there that makes their own hard cider too, and they were offering samples. I had a teeny taste of both ciders they had there -- probably about 1/2 ounce total, and it's like 6% alcohol, and I'm not the slightest bit concerned about it. I was doing cider bomb shots at a tailgate the Saturday before I found out about Baby (like a jaeger bomb, but with hard cider on the outside and spiced rum in the middle). Not saying I'd repeat that now or anything, but I'm also not worried that my tablespoon of hard cider on Sunday is going to cause any issues.
Any Appointments Coming Up? Questions? I have my 12 week appointment on Friday.
How are you really feeling? Freaking terrified i’ll get bad news. PGAL brain. I haven’t thought too far in the future becuase im still holding my breath until I’m farther along. My MS is a lot better. I’m looking forward to when I get my energy back in the 2nd trimester.
Any trips lined up for this month? Nope! I plan to stay put this month. My SO’s family does everything last minute so I have no idea what the Christmas plans are. We might travel an hour to see his family on Christmas Eve.
GTKY: How did you and your SO meet? We met online. I met him on my second day on the website, lol.
Any Appointments Coming Up? Questions? Got one on the 14th to find out the results of the NT screen and see how baby is doing this month.
How are you really feeling? I’m tired and have a cold. So bleh.
Any trips lined up for this month? Nothing except trips to the fridge for a cold drink.
GTKY: How did you and your SO meet? We’re hockey players (or I will be in July again) and we met at a friends pickup game. They invited me as a birthday present and he went because his league team captain was playing. Caught his eye and flirted awkwardly for a few months, then he kissed me one night in the parking lot of a restaurant the group went to. We got married this year at that same rink, and played a pickup game to celebrate our wedding.
Any Appointments Coming Up? Questions? 12 week appointment on the 12th. No questions, just incredibly nervous for it. We should be hearing baby on the Doppler.
How are you really feeling? Honestly, this is the point in pregnancy I’ve kind of been dreading. The baby is getting big, but I still can’t tangibly feel the pregnancy. I’m ready to be showing and feeling the baby. I’m PGAL, so I think a lot of that has to do with having reached this point in pregnancy before and it not turning out well.
Any trips lined up for this month? Going to Colorado for Christmas to be with my family for two weeks. I’m excited about that.
GTKY: How did you and your SO meet? Haha, we met online. We started dating 3 years ago yesterday.
Anyone else just as confused about when exactly the first tri ends? I’m 12 weeks today (woohoo) and I’ve seen that 13 weeks is when 2nd tri starts and I’ve also seen that first tri doesn’t end till 13+6?
Any Appointments Coming Up? Questions? First OB appt next week. No real questions
How are you really feeling? I feel great aside from insomnia and last night had major hip pain all of a sudden
Any trips lined up for this month? Negative we wont be travelling until after the baby is born
GTKY: How did you and your SO meet? He was working full time at walmart as security and my coworker at my full time job convinced me to get a part time job there. One day he stopped and chatted me up then randomly asked where I lived. Turns out we lived in the same apt building and were only a floor apart and across the hall from each other. Even though said friend hadnt introduced us she did know us separately and was the emcee at our wedding
Any Appointments Coming Up? Questions? NT scan on Monday, more bloodwork with my RE on Tuesday to see when I can finally stop the PIO. My left arm is bruised from the DNA blood draw at my OB’s on Wednesday (not even sure why I said yes to that one since we PGS tested our embryos); hoping it recovers in time for next week’s blood draws.
How are you really feeling? Like everyone else, a little overwhelmed. I told my parents I thought I was behind, but they just said I should be relaxing and enjoying it. Well, yes, but babies do require some planning. I’m currently hobbled because we haven’t told our friends, so I can’t get their input on day care, mommy groups, etc. We’re announcing next week so that should resolve soon.
For the most part, I’m not nauseous anymore. But I do get very hungry, I have an aversion to a lot of smells and to foods, I cry at commercials, and I get annoyed easily. Also I feel fat and I definitely didn’t work out this week. I feel like I’m growing sideways, and why are my pants tight on my thighs??
Also ditto to everyone who said they’re only not nervous during u/s. PGAL brain as well, although it’s getting better. It’s also so weird to see baby rolling around and not feel anything.
Any trips lined up for this month? Boston this weekend to visit a friend, then MI for Christmas/New Years! I’m so happy to get a week with my family.
GTKY: How did you and your SO meet? Online; at the time we were living in a rural area, so I restricted my search by “must have graduate degree” and DH was one of maybe 25 guys. I’m so lazy, I literally wrote my profile to respond to his (all of it was true).
On my way to the bathroom in the middle of the night I definitely had the thought “I’m not cut out for this” regarding the pregnancy. I always feel guilty when I feel like this but I know it’s common. We planned to get pregnant and are so happy but I get that overwhelmed feeling at least once a week.
@cricket1688 Totally normal feelings. I get these at least once a DAY. We, like you, had carefully planned this, but I don't think you can prepare at all for the emotions that come along with it.
@cricket1688@wearyfuzzball SING IT. I'm finally kind of getting used to the thought that this is actually happening (probably because I can see a little bit of it now, every time I look in a mirror...it's for sure the awkward phase where something is clearly growing but it looks more like a food baby than a human baby). But that sure isn't stopping me from being terrified.
Also I was pretty cheerful that, since the end of August, my net weight gain has been 7 pounds. That time frame included a week in Disney (for the food and wine festival) and New England, which involved all the eating in the world, immediately followed by getting pregnant, very few workouts, no real dieting to speak of, Thanksgiving, and a ton of bloating. Mentioned it to my mom and she went "Oh honey, that's terrible. I'm so worried you'll get gestational diabetes if you can't get that weight gain under control." Uhhhhh what? I thought SOME gain in the first tri was normal? I would actually find it pretty reasonable to think I added a couple pounds prior to Baby...so we're prob talking 4ish since then. My OB hasn't said anything but that was...less encouraging.
Honestly I haven't even felt bad, physically, this pregnancy, but I really don't want to do it again.
@ki1244 weight gain in first tri is definitely okay and if your OB doesn’t say anything you’re good. I know ladies who gained all the way through. I know ladies who gained 10 in the first tri then plataued for a few weeks in second tri. You’re good! But that’s SO annoying to hear. @wearyfuzzball so thankful to hear it from other moms to be it’s such a rollercoaster of emotions. Some days I’m the most happy and excited then I’m a totally ball of nerves
@ki1244 that’s so frustrating that your mom said that.
My mom kind of made a comment about my weight, too, when I mentioned it to her. I told her my OB encouraged me to gain a little bit of weight, and she told me that I shouldn’t do that. She then mentioned another pregnant lady we both know who has only gained 1 pound (because of losing a ton of weight in the first trimester from morning sickness), apparently, who is in her third trimester. Yeah, that’s probably not going to happen with me, but thanks for the unrealistic expectation.
@ki1244@kjr9519 I, for the life of me, will never understand why anyone thinks it is OK to make comments or share opinions about weight. Every body is different and the only discussion that needs to be had about weight gain/loss is with your OB! I'm literally cringing at my desk for you both...My mom and I are close and have a pretty open relationship so if she ever said something like that to me, I would tell her thankfully her opinion on that is one that doesn't matter!
@ki1244@kjr9519@ohheyitsb my first pair of maternity jeans came in today. Can never be too prepared and I want to be comfortable in jeans! Screw what anyone but your doctor says!
@cricket1688@kjr9519@ohheyitsb Thanks gals! I love my mom to pieces and totally still want to be her when I grow up. But sometimes she has no filter. (She also asked a waiter once, who was being a little too flirty with my little sister, if he had a straw in his pocket...she legit did want a straw but didn't think about how that sounded and couldn't figure out why he turned purple and didn't show his face at our table the rest of our meal.)
I actually went into work today (thought we had a meeting, which was cancelled just before I got to the office) and I want nothing more than to be in my sweats now. Damn.
@kjr9519@ki1244@cricket1688@ohheyitsb I have felt personally a little stressed about weight. Today I’ve officially gained 10 lbs since my BFP. I’m sorry your mom’s have said things about your weight. That’s really not cool and probably not helpful. Weight gain in 1st trimester is normal. The bulk comes in the 2nd and 3rd but I’ve heard it’s not really linear. Because we aren’t just getting fat. The baby is basically having growth spurts along with all the supplemental things (breasts changing, placenta, increased blood volume, amniotic fluid, etc.). Those things aren’t trivial. Basically that can be 12-15 lbs of stuff including baby that comes out in a matter of hours. I think the hardest part for me is that I know it’s not like gaining weight completely but that’s the only experience I have so far in life. So it just feels foreign. But I just want to make sure I’m being healthy.
But I agree that no one should really get to have opinion about your weight except maybe your doc. There’s so many things we are thinking about that trying to worry about your weight because someone else said something is just unfair. Also, I’m not sure it’d be recommended to only gain 1 lb by 3rd trimester. 25-35 lbs is the normal range I’ve seen over the course. I think my boobs alone have gained like 5 lbs!!
Chiming in on the weight topic. My PCP said I had better not gain any weight (I was overweight due to anti anxiety meds, but to her I was just fat and lazy even though I ate a vegetarian diet and played hockey every week) and when I told my OB this she almost turned purple with rage. She told me you need to gain what’s right for you and your baby. As long as your health and results are good, your weight gain is not the biggest issue in the world.
@battleangel thats a horrible thing even if you are overweight (i am also in this club) you have to be cautious about weight gain but it isnt a gain no weight situation. I think i read 15-20 lbs total is where you want to be if you bigger to begin with. Meds are awful for weight gain since you have no control over it.
@chrssyms i swear one boob has gained all the weight. I call it my armpit boob. Lol its always been the bigger one but now its worse damnit i thought they could even out a bit
I was doing 2 & 5 before BFP. Stopped after finding out obviously. I'm a little concerned though that even though boobs have gotten bigger and I feel quite a bit fatter, I've lost 2 pounds instead of gaining anything. All I've read says that this is normal in first tri but I also havent thrown up which I'm assuming is why you'd lose weight in first tri (Also horse-like/like someone else mentioned, I hardly ever throw up. Once in probably the last 8 years). Forgot to bring up with OB/GP. Anyone else not gaining weight? @canuckbaby also have the lopsided issue. Come on universe! help a girl out!
@011sammie017 I have not gained any weight. I actually lost about 3-5 pounds due to lack of appetite with MS. My OB said it was totally normal for first tri because a lot of ladies are dealing with MS.
My weight is the same but I have mentioned elsewhere that you wouldn’t be able to tell based on how my clothing fits. My boobs look like they’ve gained 10 alone. And my waist and thighs are holding onto a lot of water so none of my jeans fit anymore. It’s different for everyone and as long as you feel good that’s what counts! I think most advice mean to say “don’t over do it” whatever that means for each individual. I ate 3 donuts one day last week and two bagels on another. This week I’m allll about fruits and vegetables only (BC it’s what I’m craving- not as punishment) and to me that’s balance! My doctor flat out wouldn’t tell me a weight to gain. She only said “if there’s an issue with your weight I’ll mention something” but I know there’s a loose guideline based on your bmi that goes anywhere from 15-40lbs and beyond. I hope all of you are feeding your body what it’s able to get down or what you’re craving or what you like to eat!
@canuckbaby I'm sorry to hear about one of your boobs are becoming a bit lopsided That would just suck for it to become more noticeable rather than for them to just get equally larger. Probably TMI, but sometimes I have my husband lift my boobs up while I'm standing and I feel like all over my vertebrae just instantly space out and it feels like glorious clouds. I feel like my boobs weigh 20 lbs.
I also bought 4 of the same type of black maternity pants (they just seem to have a broader waist band that isn't so tight). I wear those almost everyday to work. They are just so comfortable. They probably look like yoga pants though, but IDGAF.
@chrssyms lol mine have always been obviously different depending on top but its gotten away from me now lol . Hmmm might have to try that with mine. My coworker brought me a bunch of maternity pants but most too small *sad panda*
One pair i did get used from someone are grey and look like sweats but i wear them anyways- i also DGAF.

I actually went into work today (thought we had a meeting, which was cancelled just before I got to the office) and I want nothing more than to be in my sweats now. Damn.
@chrssyms i swear one boob has gained all the weight. I call it my armpit boob. Lol its always been the bigger one but now its worse damnit i thought they could even out a bit
@canuckbaby also have the lopsided issue. Come on universe! help a girl out!
I have definitely gained although havent been tracking very closely exactly how much. I have been in mostly pregnancy pants of some sort for weeks.
I also bought 4 of the same type of black maternity pants (they just seem to have a broader waist band that isn't so tight). I wear those almost everyday to work. They are just so comfortable. They probably look like yoga pants though, but IDGAF.
One pair i did get used from someone are grey and look like sweats but i wear them anyways- i also DGAF.
