Infertility

Hey! I'm new here - Unicornuate Uterus and HH

Hello everyone,

I am 32 years old.  I have known for about 6 years that I have a hormone condition called ideopathic Hypogonatropic Hypogonadism (HH), which means my hypothalamus does not create gnRh, my pituitary does not create FSH or LH, and my body does not produce estrogen, testosterone or progesterone. I have primary ammehnoria, and have never ovulated naturally. I have been taking the birth control pill for hormone replacement since I was 16 years old. In 2013 my doctor tried to get me to ovulate by envouraging weight gain, however this was unsuccessful. I currently have a BMI of 19, which my doctor is happy with. Since learning that I have HH, I have known that when I was ready to TTC, I would have to go through an FSH cycle.

This year my husband and I decided we were ready to start fertility treatments. In the lead up to potentially beginning an FSH cycle, my OBGYN/RE ordered a number of tests, one of which was an HSG.  I had my HSG last Wednesday and I was surprised to discover that I have a unicornuate uterus (half of a uterus and only one functioning Fallopian tube/ovary). My doctor seemed surprised too!

I am currently waiting for my follow up appointment with my doctor in January to discuss the results of my HSG and my blood work. I am feeling uncertain about what he will suggest going forward given my complex and rare situation. I know that FSH cycles have a high risk of multiples, and given that I have UU, I feel this is not a risk my doctor will want to take. I wonder if IVF will be my only option.

I am looking to connect with anyone who has experience with HH or UU, as these are both rare conditions and I have never found anyone to connect with regarding them.

Wishing you all peace and happiness.

Lyndsey
