@funkykey *happy dance* over you continued beta rise.  Excited for your ultrasound!! And absolutely stick around.

AFM: CD1 - so I called the clinic to schedule transfer.  Trying to do everything I can to emulate our first transfer last March.  I don't know if the stuff works, but just in case I'm over here drinking POM juice and munching on walnuts & a couple brazil nuts.  Hoping to hear back from the clinic this afternoon with our official schedule.

  • Good morning ladies!

QOTW: Which famous person would you never want to meet?
I first read this as "ever want to". Good thing I re-read the question. Probably the Kardashians. I don't watch their shows or anything but the radio station I listen to in the morning has a Showbiz News segment and they are in it every single day and I think I would just be so uncomfortable being around people like that.

AFW, all my tests came back. A few things I was above the normal range, but Dr. Google showed that a high result could be from dehydration and I hadn't had anything to drink that morning so there were some issues getting blood for everything. It was fixed after I had some water so my guess is they used one of those vials for that test.

U/S was good. I have quite a few more than they like to see (they like to see 10 on each ovary, I had 20 alone on my right). Don't know at this point how well the eggs mature though.

We also opted to have a genetic screening done and I am negative for everything they test for so that's a great relief!

Up next is the "what's next" appointment which we have scheduled for Thursday so we should have a plan in place for the cycle starting in December. I'm curious to know if they'll start us off with IUI. I'll have to remember to provide an update later this week!

  • @funkykey - when’s your ultrasound again? Still so thrilled for you!!!

@ChristenMA83 - I feel like I’m so the same way when it comes to food and fertility and just hoping that those little diet changes give my fertility a boost! Bring on the almonds! Lol. Hope you hear from your clinic soon - it’ll be nice to have the schedule and start moving towards FET date!

@inthewoods23 - what a relief to get back good genetic screening results! Good luck at your appointment this Thursday! I’m sure it’ll feel good to finally get a plan in place!

AFM: Yesterday was my last pill of Letrozole for this cycle. So will be pulling out the OPKs soon. *TW* Went to a baby shower on Saturday for a good friend, but still pretty hard to sit through. The baby clothes always get me. I just want so, so badly to buy onesies and sleepers! I sometimes let my mind wander to imagining having my own shower, but I try to nip it in the bud once it starts because I don’t want to hope. Ugh. Anyways, not much new else wise.

QOTW: Hmmm, well I guess any type of dictator or tyrant in history lol. But if it was a celebrity, then I would have to say the Kardashians as well. I think it would be very hard to relate to them as you mentioned @inthewoods23
  • @sincethelastday we are nearly cycle buddies! I took my last letrozole a few days before you :)

QOTW: Trump. Lord help both of us if we ever meet.

AFM: I’m struggling to figure out ovulation on letrozole. I had positive strips from CD 8 (line as dark as control) and a peak reading (like darker than control) yesterday on CD 11 and this morning. This is waaay early for me and last cycle I had a positive on CD 10, then another positive on CD 14-15. I guess we just have to BD the whole month haha.
    Me: 39 SO: 36

Dx: low progesterone, possible DOR - officially "unexplained"

    March 2017 IVF: BFP! (beta#1 191, beta#2 378!) - it's a boy! DS born 12/6/2017

    TTC #2 since July 2018
    May 2019 IVF #2: BFP! (beta#1 346, beta#2 646) - vanishing twin at 8 weeks. Baby B still going strong - due 2/8/20!
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @PoeMasque I think with OPKs the real date of ovulation follows the later positives. I've had a few cycles where I was highly stressed prior to O and my cycle was delayed about a week. I know the first time this happened I had positive OPKs but never got the temp rise so later I took an OPK on a whim and it showed up positive and based on the length of that cycle, the later OPK was the real surge before O.

@sincethelastday good luck with your OPKs

AFM: Scheduled our transfer for 12/18!  Just a little over 2 more weeks.  Hopefully this will make for a happy and sober New Year celbration....but if I'm being honest I don't have a ton of hope this cycle, just going through the motions.
QOTW: I'm with @PoeMasque Trump is at the top of my list of people never to meet.

  • @PoeMasque - I’ve found with being on Letrozole that I have O earlier than usual, so I just start using the OPKs earlier. I feel pretty fortunate that I get the one sided cramping associated with ovulation, so I have more than one indicator of ovulating. Hope you get some clear answers with the OPKs and that all that BD does the trick!

@ChristenMA83 - right, only two weeks away! Crazy how fast December is creeping upon us! It sucks that this process just drains the hope from us; I’m going to send a lot of hopeful thoughts your way though!!
  • @sincethelastday yeah, last night DH and I were both talking about what our next steps will be.  We're both pretty set against doing another retrieval so we're weighing the options of embryo donation, IUI with doner sperm, or fostering.  It's like we've both counted these two embryos out already.

  • Uh-oh - am I the only Kardashian fan on the board? LOL.

There's a LOT about them that I don't relate to or identify with. Eg. the make-up, the plastic surgery, the materialism, the superficiality. But the show is entertaining, and sometimes, they really make me laugh. Plus, I have sisters, so sometimes the dynamic really reminds me of my own sisters.

QOTW: You know, I might agree with Trump. He was definitely the first guy who came to mind.

@ChristenMA83 - great news re: transfer date!! I know what it feels like to go through the motions, but I am going to be hopeful for you! That said, I've always found it really helpful to have a plan B; I think it's good to have those discussions.

@sincethelastday - I 100% agree. I can get through a baby shower, but not the baby clothes. I find that the hardest part.

    AFM:
Ultrasound is on Monday. I'm just waiting until then.

Also, any volunteers to start posting the weekly thread? @ChristenMA83 - maybe I'll leave it with you next week? I know that you've done it before. :)
  • @funkykey I can totally post the weekly thread.  Yay for Monday's appointment.  That's so exciting!!

  • @funkykey - oh my gosh, you must just be trembling with anticipation for Monday!! Let us know how it goes and so excited for you! Wishing you only great news!!

@ChristenMA83 - I really hope you won’t have to seriously consider any of those “plan b’s.” Although, as you mention, there are other options out there, it still must be very difficult to be considering them. I sometimes wonder how far DH and I would go with trying to have a baby and I honestly can’t say at this point. I don’t know if anyone can until they are literally at that point in their journey. Really wishing and praying that this is your cycle!!

(And I’m totally good with sharing the task of starting the Monday check-ins if you’d like the help of a “second” lol).
  • Update:

My follow up appointment with the RE after blood work and U/S was yesterday.

Everything is in normal ranges. She did say that my estradiol was high. They like to see <50 but I was at 106. She wasn't that concerned about it. Not sure what that means.

After we went over everything she just asked "so what do you want to do?". I was taken off guard a bit since I thought she would give us a recommendation not point blank ask us what we want to do. There's no reason for us to straight to IVF so we're going to do a couple round of IUI.

Anyway, official diagnosis from her was unexplained fertility. The plan is to try IUI during my next cycle with letrozole, a trigger shot, and progesterone which should start in about a week.

I'm both nervous and excited. I think I will begin joining the Infertility board and getting to know everyone there  :)

  • @inthewoods23 it's nice to have a plan.  Sounds like IUI is the perfect next step.  Generally, the infertility boards are nice because you get to join a group that's going through the same type of treatment at the same time as you.
@sincethelastday absolutely jump in on creating the weekly thread when I don't get to it.

  • @inthewoods23 - that’s great that you’re finally getting started on a treatment plan! I hope this is the fix for you!

To be honest, I wish I could’ve had the same response from my RE. I get why they wanted me to start with Letrozole because I have irregular cycles, but I pretty consistently O each cycle so it just seems like a waste of time. Of course I would love if this was my fix, but I just have such low hopes of it working that it’s hard having to do several more months of this before considering IUI. It just feels like “doing more time” before I can actually move on to a treatment that may work. I know this all sounds a bit irrational and sorry for the rant. What I’m trying to say is I’m so happy that you don’t have to wait any longer for tests and test results and can now move forward with what hopefully will be your fix! I also hope you find a lot of support from the IUI board on the IF section (I kinda wish they had a Letrozole/Clomid section on there lol).
  • @sincethelastday so your RE has you on letrozole to help the irregularity and that's it? That's a bummer. How soon will they let you add IUI?

  • @inthewoods23 - yeah, they wanted me to just take Letrozole for a few months before discussing next steps. I get that they want to start with the least evasive steps first, but I’m impatient to just move on. I have a refill prescription for three more cycles so that will add up to 5 cycles being on the med. So around March I’ll be meeting with my RE if it doesn’t work and then we would move on to IUI. I know that’s not too far away, but I’ve got to be one of the most impatient people I know so yeah lol. (I’ve had quite the week at work so sorry for being such a bummer)
  • @sincethelastday ugh I hear you on being impatient! The waits for the urologist appointment and our first RE appointment felt like forever before the days actually came! Hope you can advocate to try an IUI sooner!

  • @inthewoods23 - thanks! As much as I complain about the waiting, I’m also nervous about taking that plunge into doing an IUI, so I may “chicken out” and take the remaining pills. I feel like I can be good with advocating for other people, but not so good when it comes to myself. We’ll see. Happy weekend!
  • @sincethelastday I would switch providers if they made me do 5 months of meds THEN IUI, why not do both now?! Both my RE and OB wanted me to do IUI while on meds, but my DH didn’t want to (I think he has anxiety from the 16 months of TTC before). I would press for IUI now, so odd they didn’t suggest that already.

I’m still turning positive OPKs....so really confused. This is day 6 of positive tests! My DH has been sick since last night, so not sure if we are going to be able to keep the BD schedule up :(

  • @PoeMasque are you temping and have you gotten a temp shift? Very odd that you would get so many positives! I've seen people say they get 3 max, but 6 is quite a lot!

  • @PoeMasque - yeah, unfortunately, in the city I live there is only one fertility clinic, so I don’t really have the ability to “shop” around for another RE. And I actually really like my RE; she had told us that it was common to do 4-6 months of just medicated cycles before going to IUI when there’s irregular cycles, so maybe this is just the norm of practice at this clinic? But I digress...

That sounds frustrating with getting so many positive OPKs and not knowing which one is the true one! I wonder if your doctor can help with that or give some idea why that is? Hope YH starts feeling better soon too!  :/
  • @inthewoods23 i don’t temp, it’s been proven to be so inaccurate in research studies that I decided not to add that layer of frustration to the whole TTC process.

@sincethelastday we only have one RE too, but OBs are well within their practice to do IUI and prescribe oral meds like femara and cloned. Maybe talk to an OB? Or even discuss it with the RE? They may be open to adding IUI now. I’ve been on these boards for over 2 years and I’ve never heard that it’s common to only do meds with no IUI for that long...

  • @PoeMasque - thanks for the suggestions! Up here in Canada the only time a OB would do a IUI is if they are working at a fertility clinic, so that still leaves me in the same place. I was thinking about this more yesterday and, although I haven’t been too optimistic with the Letrozole working, I know it has worked for many people and so I’m trying to be more positive about this working for me as well. I guess I shouldn’t be complaining if I’m unwilling to do anything about it, but I’m thankful that I can sort of rant on here and still be supported by all you going through IF. I hope we both find success with this drug!
