20 weeks (April 1)
Pretty good! I also have had some sniffles which I'm glad haven't turned into a cold or anything so far.
Had an OB appointment today with follow-up on my anatomy scan last week. All good except they've detected some "floaters" in my amniotic fluid. OB said that I had a previous SCH that has now resolved itself (news to me! I guess no one thought to mention this at previous u/s, and I never had any bleeding or anything!) and that residual internal bleeding from the SCH probably accounts for the floaters. She said it should clear up on its own, but also sent me for a load of blood work to check for possible infections. Anyone have experience with this?? (If you google this, it comes up with some scary stuff about "amniotic sludge", which is debris located above the cervix that is associated with preterm labor. But, I don't think that's what I have - my OB described it more as debris scattered all throughout, making the ultrasound look "snowy" rather then clear). OB didn't seem overly concerned about it, just something to keep an eye on I think.
Not yet - what a nice idea! I did come across a service that will print a picture of the night sky for a particular date & location. We're thinking about doing this for the baby's birth day, especially since we're thinking of moon & stars nursery decor.

@halips- feeling movement is the best! Mine is still pretty sporadic, but has definitely picked up over the past week or two. Love the pic and glad baby is measuring ahead if you have to be induced a little early!
@kristimh80- love your nursery decoration idea. You should post a picture once you have it done (no rush!) Also, thanks for starting us out this week!
@scikap- its always something it seems? Glad your OB isn't concerned and I would agree with you- hopefully it means you get an extra scan! I may not have anymore and that is kinda crazy to think about!
How far along? EDD? I am 25+5 today!
How are you everyone feeling this week? Pretty good. Still having some issues sleeping with the frequent bathroom trips (3-4 per night). Also, this weekend, baby seems to have decided its time to get up after the 4am bathroom trip. He won't stop kicking (which I love), but I wasn't able to fall asleep again yesterday so that made for a tired Sunday.
Rants/Raves/Questions? After checking out a few furniture stores, DH gave in and we picked out our glider at BBB. I really wanted one with a gliding ottoman as well. WIth the 20% off, we got it for $520, which doesn't seem too bad. My first shower is in 1 month, and really hoping to dive into nursery set up during Christmas break.
Any upcoming appointments? Nothing until 11/30 when I get to have so much doing doing the GD test, Rhogam shot and TDAP vaccine. Needle pokes are nothing after all the IVF though
GTKY: Are you doing any DIY things for your nursery or having something made? Hmmm i am sure we will end up with some DIY something, but the big things that comes to mind is I want to put in a closet organizer system (probably from Ikea). So we won't really DIY it- but will definitely need to create it out of whatever we can find. Probably time to get some ideas from Pinterest. I am also looking for some cool world maps cut from metal or something from Etsy to go with our Coastal/Nautical/Travel theme.

@JamieH2000 the frequent bathroom trips have started for me again too. I was hoping it would wait until at least 30 weeks lol Picking out your glider must have been so much fun, your first shower will be here before you know it! Did your OB recommend DH get the TDaP too?

@JamieH2000 I know, I love their wineries, too! We did buy a few bottles of their wine to enjoy after this little one gets here, but didn't do any actual winery stuff. We stayed in Egg Harbor so not too far from Peninsula State Park (I think). And thank you, I'm crossing fingers that this doesn't turn into anything. So far so good, knock on wood!
uterusdreams sounds like you had a nice getaway. Wintry?? Was it snowing there? I think our fetal echos will be around the same time. Hope you ended up not getting sick.
Thanks for taking over @kristimh80 you rock!!
congrats on moving to 3rd tri @mayflower513 ; and @LynnNJ can’t wait to join you over there.
halips I love your US pic! So cute! And love your picture frame ideas for the nursery.
kristimh80 good luck with your second AS.
scikap glad the debris they found was nothing. And OMG! I love the moon and stars theme. Sooo freakin cute!
JamieH2000 what is the Rhogam shot? You’re almost in third tri!! Whoo hoo!!
Did you see this seller on etsy? https://www.etsy.com/shop/3DWoodMaps?ref=l2-shopheader-name The maps look really cool! A little pricey but a really nice piece of art for your house just in general, I think.
One of my favorite nursery pieces is our crib -- a white metal Larkin crib from C&B. Also got the toddler rail for it at the same time (which you should probably do when getting your cribs since who knows if they'll still make the crib in a few years). It has a nice classic look to it, very vintage. I was so excited when I saw Joanna Gaines (interior decorator celeb) used the same crib in her own nursery!! My husband didn't appreciate my happiness that a professional designer picked out the same crib as me....he still thinks it's "plain" and "boring".
But I do recommend a splurge on a super nice and comfy glider or rocker -- you'll be using that ALOT and you'll appreciate it. We got ours (slightly oversized gray fabric reclining rocker) from lazyboy and it has a stain guard on it as well + free repairs/replacements/cleaning for the first 5 years or something like that. It was pretty much the only thing I agreed to buy for the nursery prior to her birth because I was so afraid of jinxing myself. My husband insisted we had to buy it because they take a month or two to make them and deliver. Glad I did as it arrived just a week after she was born early!

How was your recovery from your first c-section? I'm not scared to have a vaginal birth, but for some reason the idea of a c-section terrifies me. I think it's the recovery I'm worried about?

@Drove2u Yes, it was so nice - and very wintry! It snowed most of the day Friday and then the snow stayed the rest of the time we were there. When is your fetal echo? I'm excited and nervous for mine - excited because the level 2 was reassuring, but still nervous. Hoping the next two weeks go by quickly for us!!
@bpietronicco Welcome to 2nd tri!! (Sorry if I missed you last week.) Sorry about the headache, pregnancy headaches suck.
Random rave to add to this thread: I made this two nights ago and it's my new favorite recipe. I'm eating leftovers for lunch right now and am actually sad that it's almost gone.

@kristmh80- which glider did you decide on? I believe mine is call the Paxton Glider. I couldn't find a pic online.
@uterusdreams- smart to have some wine on hand after! I may need to restock after the past few months- DH has been drinking my wine!
@drove2u- SO glad everything is looking good! I sure hope your OB learned a lesson about being more careful what she says to patients in the future! The rhogam shot is when you have negative blood type and the baby could maybe be positive. Your OB would def tell you if you needed it!
@mbradfo2- those maps are so cool! I have seen some in person and I just love looking at them. Also that is so cool about your crib. I love Chip and Joanna!
@bpietronicco- welcome! glad your OB is good and will get you in when you need reassurance. I loved having the home doppler and by 15 weeks, it should be good accurate for you!

mbradfo2 about splurging on a nursery chair. I used it every night/middle of night/morning to feed and now with an almost 2 year old we use it to read books before bed. Keeping it around for the second too obviously.
halips thanks. I guess because of the poor blood test results I was receiving they want to make sure my placenta is ok…ie baby is growing ok. So it’ll be good. Honestly, I hated c-section recovery but I’ve never had a vaginal birth. One of my friends had a 3rd degree tear during vaginal birth with her first, a c-section with her second kid and a scheduled c-section with her third. She said she would prefer a c-section any day over a 3rd degree tear. It wasn’t so bad in the hospital because you have a remote control bed. Lol. But once you get home, it’s crazy how it’s so hard to do anything. They tell you not to even lift a gallon of milk at first. But I was. I was also walking up and down the stairs as soon as I get home. I think that helped with my recovery. You can’t drive for like 2 weeks. So all of that is just an annoyance. The gas pains were horrendous. I thought I was going through labor again. So I took some heavy duty gas pills and those worked wonders. I took all my pain killers and tried to be as comfortable as possible. I mean it’s kind of a major surgery but at the same time I don’t know what a 3rd degree tear feels like. I’m still debating if I want to do a scheduled c section because practically and logistically it makes sense for us.
uterusdreams my fetal echo is on Dec 3. How about yours? Thanks for the recipe!! We cook a lot. We’ve also been cooking from the delivery service Plated which I love.
JamieH2000 ah yes! Now I know about that shot. One of my friends had to take it too. I didn’t realize what it was called.
Is anyone on the east coast and get hit with this snow storm? IT was so awful. I left work in NYC at 12:15pm and didn’t get home until right before 4pm. So many stranded cars, accidents. Today I’m working from home, thank goodness.
@Drove2u if you know you'e having a c-section, then scheduling it would make complete sense! I'm not sure if your experience has made me more worried or comfortable should it have to happen for me LOL
@mayflower513 thanks! That's what I had heard too, but OB didn't say it specifically so I was wondering.
So... I have a rant... my workplace has been fantastic with any accommodations I may have needed so far in my pregnancy (mainly just dr appts so far). This week I met with my Village Manager, HR and my staff to talk about my leave, knowing it will start in Feb. They are still being fantastic about making sure my staff have proper support, that I can be flexible with coming back etc. They even had a lock installed on my office door, and blinds on my windows so I can use my office to pump privately once I am back at work. HR also ordered me a mini fridge for my office, so I can store my breast milk separate from the workplace fridge/lunches. Well, today that mini fridge was delivered and set up in my office. A coworker asked why I had it, and I explained. She then said "well that's just ridiculous, back in my time we stopped breast feeding when we went back to work or we just stored in with everyone else's stuff. She then asked me in a mocking voice, "what other accommodations are you going to need". And since I'm not one to be pushed around, I very plainly said "anything the law says I'm entitled too". She's an admin for another department, and sits outside my office in a common area. I can now hear her whispering to another admin about this. I'm just astounded at the reaction she is having. I don't want to involve her boss or HR, but goodness, this is ridiculous and juvenile! Any suggestions?

On to your workplace...wow wow wow! that is just ridiculous!! I think that is so awesome though that your job is trying to make you as comfortable as possible. Although it must be really frustrating and maybe even a little hurtful to hear your co-worker talk like that, I say SCREW her!! She may just be jealous. sorry you have to deal with the whispers. that's no fun and you shouldn't have to deal with that.
People need to learn to mind their own beeswax -- "in my day" la dee dah...she's just a negative nancy and jealous probably!
I had a c-section and my recovery was super smooth and fast. I had some pain the first couple of days but it was nothing major. Everyone is different! I would do one again if we were to have more kiddos. I actually chose the c-section over having to continue inducing labor (12 hours of that was enough for me, thank you very much) and I'm very happy I did so. It was fast, recovery was good and baby was healthy. All in all, a perfect birth for me!

@mbradfo2 Thank you for the feedback. I don't know why c-section make me so nervous! and even though it was at 18 weeks, I've been through full labor and delivery already, so you'd think that would make me more nervous!
@kristimh80 thank you! My workplace has been great, this woman just threw me for a huge loop lol
