We have spent most of the day running errands! Cashed a check at our bank, picked up dog food, stopped at Menards and bought a ceiling fan for the nursery as well as a few other household things, had lunch, went to Target and worked on our baby registry, letting my parent’s dog out, then heading to a farm and tractor store to get my husband new steel-toed work shoes. I’m ready for a damn nap!
DH took DD to swim lessons this morning, and THEN he took her to Costco by himself. He never hangs out with her on his own outside the house. So it was great to get 3 whole hours to myself in our home. It's so clean and tidy...for now.
DH stayed home today (usually spends the weekends at the school studying for 8+ hours a day) and he's going to study at home so he can watch DS and I can go get a pedicure and read and just relax. I'm getting hot chocolate and food and heading to the salon. I'm so excited. Also going to wax the Chewbacca brows hanging out on my face. Then trip to Walmart ALONE and taking DH to Costco for the first time. Hopefully it will shape up to be a nice day. He's asked that I go to pedis alone because my friend I'd go with has been a bit of a stressor lately. I'm excited to read.
Double stroller shopping today at BuyBuyBaby. So awkward feeling like you're in everyone's way. DD was so cute though, she wanted to ride around in allllllllllll the strollers. All the doubles feel like I'm pushing a circus though.
DD1 had her last soccer game this morning and their end of the season pizza party. I enjoy watching her play soccer but by the end of the season I’m just glad that it’s over. Now I’m just sitting with my kitty. She has cancer of the liver and I think she is nearing the end and it’s time to say goodbye very soon.

Hey y'all. Just checking in to say hi and I'm still alive! Potty training is going forward. I wasn't feeling well today and DH put DD down for a nap when I knew she had to poop without consulting me and I knew she would poop in her nap diaper, so I feel like he set us back. She refused the nap anyway, of course. I would have made a very different call. Ugh. I wish he would step up and make better decisions in cases when I'm sick and need to just take a break and lie down. Anyway, sorry for the rant. We had our NT scan last week and everything looked good! We're just waiting for all the blood work to come back now.
Sorry for not being able to keep up with the group. I've been battling bad nausea that's not responding to my coffee/diclegis regimen. So between being sick and potty training, I have no energy left. I hope everything is going well for all of you!
Ds1 had a hockey game at 8, ds2 had gymnastics at 10, then we went door to door collecting non perishables for ds1’s scout troop, finished off the afternoon by making 18 fondant pikachus for ds1’s birthday cupcakes. I am beat! Can’t wait for the boys to go to bed so I can relax for a few minutes!
@poshspice will they give you Zofran do you think? Sorry for everyone who is still sick! I'm nauseous a lot of the day but not puking. Unisom at night helps tremendously but then I'm tired and asleep so early. I'm also only 11+4 so I have a bit to go before 2nd tri which will hopefully be better.
DS's party was awesome. I'm so tired and happy the rest of the weekend is just the three of us and H has off Monday!
So happy to hear the party was a success @DuchessOfCambridge. And yay for long weekends!! I was so ready for a few days with absolutely nothing on the books. We all slept in today, baked cookies, watched movies and just took it easy. The fact that both of my kids willingly sat down to watch movies told me that they needed some down time as much as I did.
My H had to go help with the Camp Fire burning in Ca. I hate when he goes hoping it can be contained before too many more losses. Makes me sad to think about everyone hurt but it.
@bumbly_b I hope they can get contained soon! So many buildings destroyed and people affected. And I heard the winds are supposed to pick up again tomorrow.

Alright y'all, I need some advice... I'm going to my nephew's birthday party today, and I know that **TW** His aunt and uncle have been trying to have a second child for a while now and that they have had several pregnancies, and several miscarriages, including a second trimester miscarriage a few months ago, for which they got no answers **/TW** I'm not "out" as being pregnant beyond our immediate family, so I don't think they know, but I'm trying to decide if I should dress for comfort or dress to conceal my belly so's not to cause them undue and unexpected pain.
@robyn2201 I’m so sorry to hear about your kitty. They really are like family.
@brie_and_almonds Could you maybe find something that would conceal your belly but also be comfortable too? It’s so considerate of you to be thinking of them, but definitely be comfortable too.
Sorry for being so MIA on here lately. Husband had to work yesterday until 6, and DS was off the charts all day long. It somewhat scared of me having a baby thrown in the mix, especially for the Saturdays he has to work. It was a rough day, and my patience was practically nonexistent. One day he’ll sit still long enough to watch a movie right?
Once Husband got home, we went over to our friends’ house to watch the Georgia game, and that was fun. DS had fun playing with the kids there, but I’m worn out. Hopefully today we can rest some! Definitely looking forward to having tomorrow off and all to myself! 🙌🏻
@brie_and_almonds I suggest being comfortable. That is so kind of you to think of their thoughts and feelings. However, I don’t think you should risk your comfort, either. Is there something comfortable that would also conceal? Maybe maternity pants and an oversized sweater?
@lovelybabybumpz I'm on baby #5 and I have never used a double stroller. They are way way too bulky and limiting for my taste. I use a baby carrier, an umbrella stroller, and a backpack to carry our stuff when we go out. So much easier.

@brie_and_almonds I can’t imagine their pain with several losses and and especially a second trimester loss. It’s their sons party so I would go with trying to hide it.
Eta: just realized it’s his aunt and uncle not his mom and dad. So I would try to hide it but also not go to extreme lengths to do so.

Yesterday, DH had an unexpected day off of work so we slept in, had a nice breakfast, and then went out shopping. We randomly ran into some friends at BuyBuyBaby (we live like 45 mins from the store) and had a nice sushi dinner with them and their new baby. And today I am doing literally a million loads of laundry, cleaning, and writing a paper (which I am being a super procrastinator).
@nopegoat I don't even like using our single stroller, so I tend to think along those lines. I'll wear DD in a back-carry before I want to bring a stroller for her.
@brie_and_almonds you are so kind of thinking of them. I would try to find something in between. Obviously you don't want to upset them, but also you need to be comfortable. Eventually, they'll have to find out soon enough though, right? But good on you for being thoughtful.
Hung Christmas lights and put up a snow fence in hopes of our dog not jumping over our neighbors low fence. It feels like 20 degrees and I’m pretty sure I lost my big toe to frostbite (obviously exaggerated but damn it’s cold). Average high right now is 48 degrees.
@mrskoz428 I'm so jealous you're already getting lights up! We may not be able to decorate this year except for maybe a tree depending on when we move. 😕
@mrskoz428 smart girl! I've been bugging DH to hang Christmas lights before we get too much snow. He's been dragging his heels and then of course sweet-talked his way into going on a sledding trip this coming weekend, so it likely won't happen these days off either. I really don't care if he goes sledding, but this winter seems so busy and his days off so few, I feel like we'll never get all the stuff we need to done.
@eatinwatermelonseeds@mcewen3 it’s our first year in our own home and our first year actually hanging lights. It wasn’t easy seeing that it was freezing but I know it wouldn’t get done after this weekend so it was now or never. I just need to buy on more strand because we are about 10ft short of the outlet outside!
We've had a fun day celebrating DS turning one! Grateful tomorrow is a day off for H so I can have one less day of solo parenting this week. It's been an emotional day and I am looking forward to bed already haha.
@brie_and_almonds I hope it all turned out okay, you're a wonderful person for thinking of them. I would have dressed for comfort and hoped that they just thought I had a food baby or something
These two have been ATTACHED to me for the last few weeks now. I am never alone and always have at least one of them with their head on my bump! So many snuggles!
Thanks for the input, everyone! I tried to strike a balance between comfort and concealment (non-maternity pants in a size bigger than my pre-pregnancy size with a belly band and long sleeve tee with a fleece poncho over everything). I even coached her my five-year-old not to mention the new baby because it might hurt their feelings (she said "but what if I think about it?" And I said "that's okay if you think about it, you can just choose to talk about something else" and then I worried she wouldn't have the self-control to not talk about it and I shouldn't have said anything...). Anyway, the whole thing was unnecessary because apparently they were leaving for an out-of-state trip today, so their three-year-old was there, but they were not XD.
I went almost five years as a parent without an emergency room visit. That ended tonight. My oldest slammed my youngest's thumb in the bedroom door and almost severed her thumb from the nail bed up. It was awful. My husband had the dog on a walk and I called him in hysterics, so much blood from her little hand. We rushed her to the ER, I held her in the trunk in my SUV keeping pressure on her hand. Somehow the xrays show no break in the bone, but the bone is basically all that kept her thumb tip on. She was so SO brave (the entire ER staff was charmed with her and said she was amazing) but we both cried a ton when they stitched her up, it was awful. Her hand is in a splint now and I have to take her to see a pediatric plastic surgeon at the Children's hospital tomorrow to see the extent of the damage and what further treatment she'll need. My poor sweet baby girl, my heart just broke listening to her cry.
@imrachellea I'm so sorry! That's so scary. There is nothing I hate more than taking DS to the hospital. It's horrible. I'm sorry you had to go through that 😞
@imrachellea I’m really sorry to hear that — it sounds terrifying and I know how awful it is to hear your kids in pain. The exact same thing happened to me when I was little (bone exposed, everything gone basically, etc etc) and I remember it hurting but never thought about what it was like for my parents. Honestly it was probably harder for you!
As an adult I have a scar that basically makes me not have much of a fIngerprint but if I didn’t go out of my way to show it to you you’d never know and it’s really nothing.
