    Due date: 3/2

Any appointments? Questions?: Next prenatal checkup in a couple weeks. How is it November already?!

Rants/Raves?: Just got a TON of second hand boy clothes from my cousin. We almost couldn't fit all the bags in our little sedan! Clothes from newborn to 2T organized by size. Can't wait to go through them all!

How are you feeling?: I think the nightly hip pain is getting worse. Also, thanks to this board and my own follow-up online research, I'm pretty sure I have some diastasis recti starting (obviously will talk to my midwife about this at next appointment). Starting to research safe stretches and exercises that I'm hoping will help both issues. Seems they could be related.

GTKY: What’s the story behind your username- if there is one? I went into detail on this during a previous check-in. TL;DR I made up the username when I was a child after my family raised an orphan duckling, who we called Mayo because she hatched on Cinco de Mayo.

  • Due date: 3/3

Any appointments? Questions?: No appointments until 11/20. A follow-up anatomy scan and glucose screening (I have requested to have this screening a bit early.)

Rants/Raves?: Rave: Just this morning I was able to capture a video of visible kicks. DH still hasn't been lucky enough to feel anything yet, hopefully these strong kicks means he will be able to feel him moving soon.

How are you feeling?: Achy body lately. I've been using a heating pad on my back but it doesn't seem to help too much.

GTKY: What’s the story behind your username- if there is one? It's just my zodiac sign, no story really.
  • Due date: 3/1

Any appointments? Questions?: My next appointment is in two weeks.

Rants/Raves?: Not really a rant, but I was hoping I would be able to feel more movement at this point. I have an anterior placenta (again) so fetal movements are still pretty muted and mostly only on the inside.

How are you feeling?: really good.

GTKY: What’s the story behind your username- if there is one? Not a story, but I love chocolate and lemonade hence chocolatelemons. Funny part is that during my first pregnancy I had huge aversions to lemons and during my first trimester, all I wanted was chocolate.
  • @chocolatelemons I am with you on the movements. I have been feeling her swim around and punch and kick but not as many outside movements as with DD1 at this point. DD2 was breech two weeks ago and sitting really low so a lot of her movements have been on my pelvis. Every couple of days I notice she must have turned because I'll get a kick higher. They will run out of room eventually!

  • @bug_hunter I’m sorry you are dealing with all that. Grad school is super demanding without the added pressures of pregnancy and wedding planning. For me it was helpful to make lists/spreadsheets and to delegate as much as possible. Do you have any research tasks you can pass to an undergrad or research assistant? Or any personal tasks that you can send to your SO to manage while he’s away?

Also, your SN always makes me think of grad school, because where I got my PhD there was a course for undergrads called “Phage Hunters”. Great science minds think alike?
  • @bug_hunter Lady, you are super woman! Just reading your rant makes me want to take a nap!
  • @maggiemadeit At least I know that you've gotten through grad school + being pregnant/having a kid so I know it's possible!

I have an undergrad helping me right now and I have some money to hire another one over the winter which will be good. I wouldn't be getting any lab work done if it wasn't for my current assistant ha. After this semester, I'm done with classes and am limiting other unnecessary jobs so it should (hopefully) be less crazy when I just need to focus on research. I just need to power through these next few weeks without losing my mind or screwing up completely.

Unfortunately, my partner's new job is awful and he's pretty burnt out himself. I gave him a minor task two weeks ago of picking out something for our wedding registry and I think he just got around to it yesterday. He's working the night shift and then has meetings/computer work in the afternoon after he wakes up. He's talking to his boss in a few days and basically saying that things need to change or he's quitting... so that'll be interesting. They have plenty of jobs for him in our area and I have no idea why they stuck him on this job several states away, so fingers crossed that they like him enough to let him work on jobs he can commute to.

  • @mayoduck haha I think I'm just a dummy and agree to a bunch of things I can't actually handle, but I'll also accept superwoman  ;) I know everyone's busy as hell. I just like to whine about it.
  • @bug_hunter I can't imagine being in grad school while being pregnant, and also a dog parent!! I literally moved in with my parents after my first year of grad school (it was a 3 year program and I hadn't met my husband yet) and made myself wait until after to get a dog. Having them cook for me was everything. Props for doing what you can!!

Any appointments? Questions?: No appointments until next week

Rants/Raves?: Rants: Nothing too bad this week Rave: Things have finally settled down a bit at work so that’s nice! I’ll be so thankful tomorrow after the elections are over and we don’t have to watch all the commercials anymore!

How are you feeling?: Pregnant is the easiest way to describe how I feel... it’s getting hard to do things I normally wouldn’t struggle silly things like bending over, lower pelvic pain, lower back pain, and very sore boobs!

GTKY: What’s the story behind your username- if there is one? There isn’t one it’s just my name and because Ashley is always taken I needed some numbers to make it available.
  • Due date: 3/6

    Any appointments? Questions?:
Does anyone just feel tight all over?

     Rants/Raves?:
I love both my jobs, but they are both very active and I don’t usually get to sit down at all for 8 hours straight, and I think it’s starting to take its toll. Plus after an incident with a student last week I’m being asked to step down from the autism support classes I do because everyone is worried about my belly. I appreciate everyone’s concern, and it is probably for the best but I’m stubborn so it bugs me lol.

     How are you feeling?:
Tired and tight but could be worse

GTKY: What’s the story behind your username- if there is one? It’s a mix of where I live and my college mascot!
  • @PhillyBelle I know what you mean! I also just feel "tight", even though I've been lucky so far and have only had swelling in my ankles after a day of literally being on my feet with no rest. I feel huge and uncomfortable and still have 16 weeks to go! I'm nervous for the third trimester!

    Any appointments? Questions?:
    Apt this Thursday.

Has anyone else experienced Braxton Hicks contractions? I've had some extreme tightness that comes in waves. It gets stronger then lets go. Its never been consistent so I didn't call my dr but its all new to me.

     Rants/Raves?:
Raves: My sweet sister in law has planned out my whole baby shower and its the most perfect thing! I'm so excited.

     How are you feeling?:
Tired but good. I've been seeing a prenatal chiropractor and its been great. I've always had back issues with scoliosis so she has really helped me with stretches.

GTKY: What’s the story behind your username- if there is one? I like bluebell ice cream :)

@PhillyBelle I have tightness but its just in my belly.
@cancer2988 are you also carrying like a basketball? I thought I was getting wider but I saw my family this weekend and they all said my belly had rapidly grown. I'm right there with you about wondering just how big I'm going to get in the third trimester.
  • Due date: 3/9 Any appointments? Questions?: My next Ob appointment and follow up anatomy scan is on Monday. Rants/Raves?: Rant: I was sick most of last night and have that lingering hangover feeling today. Rave: Um, not much, but I had a pretty fantastic donut earlier. How are you feeling?: I’m starting to get pretty uncomfortable and the crotch sweating is out of control. GTKY: What’s the story behind your username- if there is one? There’s is an HBO documentary that pre-dates Toddlers and Tiaras called Living Dolls. It’s ridiculous and feels more like a Christopher Guest movie. The doc follows a little girl named Swan Brooner.
  • Due date: 3/2 Though this will probably be a Feb baby after what I was told today.

    Any appointments? Questions?:

Had a fetal echocardiogram today but the dr couldn't get a good look because baby was down at the bottom of my huge amniotic swimming pool. I get to go back for another try in 4 weeks.

    Rants/Raves?:
I don't know. I can't complain because baby seems healthy but my high fluid has made me out of control huge, it's hard not to be bitter about how I'm going to survive the next several months. I got to stump yet another MFM as to the cause of my excess fluid.

     How are you feeling?:
Standing up I haven't seen my feet in weeks. I am sticking way out there with a 9 month-looking bump and get comments and questions literally everywhere I go. I hate the looks I get when they learn my actual due date. My rib cage under my chest gets sharp shooting pains because everything is so squished. No bra hurts. My softest bra hurts. I have no patience for my pets. Barely able to keep up with housework and I think I'm just going to have to start wearing my DH's clothes. Kids are happy except when Mommy can't do something. Three year old is impatient because she thinks baby should be here any time now. She and everyone else thinks so. Sorry for the open flood gates. It's been getting tough over here.

GTKY: What’s the story behind your username- if there is one?
An old friend in high school used to use it as a nickname for me.

  • I see my regular OB on Thursday and I'm pretty sure I've got another UTI. Think that's it.

@bug_hunter That stinks. I also can't plan more than a day or 2 ahead right now. I'm just living one day at a time right now.

@PhillyBelle @bluebell08 Yes, I'm feeling tight too. I also get lots of Braxton Hicks (all over tightening of the uterus) when I am being really active. It's my sign to take a break. They are just practice contractions and shouldn't hurt (maybe a little uncomfortable).

    Due date: March 2.

Appointments/questions: not for a couple more weeks.

Rants/raves: Been so busy. Lots of errands. Nothing too crazy. H felt the baby move for the first time this morning! I got some new makeup in the mail today. I've been using the same few shades for forever (like two years+!), so I'm excited to have some new eye shadow to try. And because I'm terrible at makeup, I'm currently watching YouTube videos of other people using the particular palettes I got to learn how to use them, haha! Anyone want to do a makeup/skincare thread?

Feeling: not too bad. My achiness keeps going off and on in waves.

GTKY: I like to rock climb. Haven't done much in ages though.

@bluebell08, yes. I've had some. Slow down and drink some water, that usually helps them subside.
  • @bluebell08 I have scoliosis too! I used to see a chiropractor but stopped because it was so expensive and took up so much time. What kind of stretches did your chiropractor recommend?
  • @Lbloom Sorry to hear you're feeling that way! I hope your next appointment goes better.
  • @bluebell08 Yes, I have been getting them in the evening on occasion. With DD I had them consistently throughout 3rd tri. As someone else mentioned just make sure you are drinking enough water. Just part of the the process.

  • @lovesclimbing I watch YouTube videos on how to do makeup too! Haha I’ve been using the same highlighter that in December will officially be a year... and probably other products the same. I like makeup I just can’t get over how expensive it is and it seems like I can never get it to “stay all day” or look as nice as they can.

Haha, yes! I'm a drugstore makeup person myself. Cheap! I have never used a highlighter. I was specifically searching for reviews of subtle highlighters, because all the beauty people on YouTube seem to want a blinding crazy bright highlight, and I don't like that. And in general, even what they call a natural or minimal makeup look, I'm like, "that's what I wear on my heaviest makeup days!"

I am so bad at blending. I think it always looks choppy. One of the palettes I got was the e.l.f mad for matte palette. It's fairly popular, so there are lots of tutorials with looks using just it, so I'm going to copy a few and hopefully get better that way! Easier than trying to duplicate a look with five different shadows/palettes with whatever colors I happen to have on hand.
  • @Lbloom I'm sorry you're having such a rough time.  :/
  • @BuckeyeNut05 I'm afraid I would scare some people if I actually posted a bump pic of myself!

    Thanks for commiserating ladies!
  • @mayoduck Let see if I can explain them lol My favorite stretch is putting my hands on a door handle and pulling backwards against the door while bending over. Stretches my whole back. My Chiro has me stretching my hips lot to help with lower back pain.

@lovesclimbing I love youtube make up videos! Casey Holmes is my fav. I go to Ulta for most of my make up bc of the rewards program.
  • I love this make-up talk! My most memorable childhood gift was a Caboodle with a few products in it when I was 6-7. I became a Maskcara independent artist in October and have been doing lots of makeovers!

One of my new favorite hacks has been using dry shampoo as a setting powder. It sounds crazy, but it WORKS!
  • @bluebell08 and @mayoduck I also have scoliosis and word to the wise, make sure the anesthesiologist knows this at the hospital if/when you get an epidural. I delivered my son at one of the “best” hospitals in the country and it took them almost two hours to gives  me an epidural. They kept trying to get the needle in (unsuccessfully) and finally asked me if I have scoliosis. Um, yes. They called the attending in :s was able to get the epidural in within minutes.
  • @chocolatelemons I will make a note for DH to remember that one lol Thank you for the info! I surely would not have mentioned it in the moment.
  • @chocolatelemons ugh that sounds awful! I definitely plan to mention it to the anesthesiologist and the whole care team whenever the time comes.
I feel better knowing I'm not alone! Was there any other complication or challenge related to pregnancy and delivery that your scoliosis likely contributed to? I'm anticipating worse than average back pain since my back muscles are usually tight from having to work unevenly to keep my spine up.
  • @mayoduck There were no other challenges that I can directly attribute to scoliosis. Most of my labor was in my back, but I think that had to do with the positioning of my son more so than anything else.
  • Every week I plan to update on time, and each time I'm bringing up the rear  :s

    Due date: March 8th, 2019

Any appointments? Questions?: Monthly check-up next week

Rants/Raves?: Rave: my step-mom came out to visit last week and took me on a shopping spree for maternity clothes! It was so nice to have her here and so sweet of her (and my dad) to get me all properly clothed, lol. Rant: Lots of ups and downs with MH's work that's caused stress.

How are you feeling?: Emotionally and mentally fatigued. Baby seems to be doing well (lots of movement, mostly in the mornings and evenings) and pregnancy symptoms are minimal so I continue to be grateful for that =).

GTKY: What’s the story behind your username- if there is one? I spent quite some time lurking the TTGP group before joining and felt so naive about everything "baby making" that I decided on just naming myself that. I modified the spelling so that it'd seem less obvious lol. Also, I'm generally pretty bad at coming up with creative names.
  • Due date: 3/2

Any appointments? Questions?: Glucose tests next week. Ugh.

Rants/Raves?: Rant-Sometimes people are so dang mean! I had a coworker comment on how I looked in my maternity khakis today. Yes, I know they’re a tad bit long but I have short legs and my belly isn’t quite big enough to 100% hold them up so they bunch up at the bottom. Then, she made a comment later in the day about my voice. Last week, I was “running late to her” when I was 10 minutes early. She’s literally 5-10 minutes late from lunch every day. And heaven forbid I have a doctor’s appointment planned a month in advance. She made one on Monday for next week without evening telling our director, but I’m inconveniencing everyone by telling people in advance. I usually don’t have a problem with people but dang she’s rubbed me the wrong way lately.  Her daughter is pregnant too (10 weeks behind me) so you’d think there would be some sort of compassion going on.
Rave-I found out last week that Hallmark makes books based off of their Christmas movies. Guess what I started reading last night?!

How are you feeling?: Anxiety is 75-80% better 3 weeks in to Zoloft. I don’t love that I have to be on it but it beats being miserable. Finally have an appetite back (which may be due to the decreased anxiety)! Finally felt some real kicks in the past 2 weeks so I’m feeling so much better.

GTKY: What’s the story behind your username- if there is one? Just some random parts of my name put together with a special year. I’m not that interesting. Haha
