Posting on this forum since I got angry responses on the TTC forum. I don't think I am actually part of the 1st trimester group.
Hi! I have been TTC for ~1 year now. On CD26 of my 100mg Clomid (days 3-7) cycle, I started my period. I have never started early in my life, all OPKs had been negative but I had signs of late ovulation (I would've guessed maybe CD18-20)...I chalked the early period up to Clomid. It was a really weird period -- started with brown/pink discharge for about a day, then switched to bright red clotless blood for a few days and did get pretty heavy (definitely no question at this point that I had a period, though I never did get clots). I e-mailed my gyno to ask if I should count the brown discharge day as CD1 and start my next round of Clomid and she said yes. On CD10 I noticed some really light brown spotting (assumed ovulation spotting) and then on CD11 noticed bright red clotless spotting when I wiped (this went away pretty quickly). I decided to take a pregnancy test for peace of mind and BFP! I took a 2nd one and BFP as well! Unfortunately all this happened on the weekend and I haven't heard from the gyno yet. From obsessive googling this weekend, my best guess is that I had a chemical pregnancy and unfortunately the BFP is still just detecting HCG. But I'm surprised I would still have enough HCG to turn a non-FRER test positive on CD11! Regardless...the continued spotting and taking another round of clomid would both be pretty concerning if I am pregnant:/ I am not asking if I am pregnant, but has anyone had something similar happen?
First, I read your post on TTGP and you didn’t get angry responses (well at least not at the time you wrote this post). One (amazing and supportive long term member) kindly redirected you here bc that board is not the place for these types of posts/questions. If you lurk around a bit you will see that your question is better for this board bc it is against TOU to (even in a round about way) ask if your pregnant.
But on to your question, I’ve never taken clomid so I can’t speak to that but I can speak to having a period and then a BFP, unfortunately this happened to me earlier this year. My outcome was not good, TW** it ended up being an ectopic pregnancy that resulted in emergency surgery end TW**. I don’t say any of this to scare you bc there’s a good chance this is not what you are going through, but I say it bc I googled and searched excessively and it’s so hard to find someone who has posted and updated with the exact same symptoms as you. So I strongly encourage you to speak to your doctor, get a few hcg draws bc they will be able to tell you if your levels are going up or down. I’m sorry you are going through this and I hope everything works out for you.

I get that you are stressed out right now but continuing to pout & say that you got an “angry” response on TTGP is not helpful, appropriate, or accurate.
I also get that you’re searching for some kind of answer while you wait to hear back from your OB/gyn. Unfortunately, it’s not anything any of us can answer. It’s going to take blood tests and time.
*TW* FWIW, with my chemical pregnancy, my HCG dropped fast and I didn’t start bleeding until it was probably down to 0.
If this isn’t your take home baby, I recommend apologizing on TTGP, reading the pinned posts, and joining them there. They are a great source of knowledge and support. But you have to give support to get support. You should also seek the care of an RE and go back to your OB/gyn once you are pregnant. They are much more equipped to do proper fertility testing to determine the best treatment for you and to properly monitor you on Clomid. Just for one thing, the Gosselin sextuplets were the result of Clomid.
Good luck!

Not only should patients in Clomid be more closely monitored, I find it hard to imagine that the Gyn didn't at least have you either take a test or come in for labs before starting the next Clomid cycle. I get that you thought it was your period, but lots of people have spotting or bleeding in early pregnancy, too. Nevermind that any RE or Nurse in an REs office would tell you to start CD1 as your first day of full flow, not brown spotting, and that spotting prior to AF can be a sign of an LP defect.
1. There's too much going on for any of us here to guess. Time and labs/scans will tell.
2. **TW** loss
Please don't play the, "assume I had a CP," card. I do sincerely hope that's not what's going on here, but for me, by the time the pregnancy was over, the lines were fading on regular tests, and my digi clearly said, NOT PREGNANT. So no, I don't think a CP would turn a test on whatever day of the following cycle you think it is today.
3. Turning an obvious positive test means you are pregnant at this time. Hopefully, it is just early breakthrough bleeding and nothing worse, and you may go on to have a healthy, successful pregnancy. But if not, I do hope you find yourself in the capable care of medical professionals who can help you through whatever next steps may be.
TTGP is full of warriors. Please don't mistake their armor for anger or rudeness. I hope you don't end up back there any time soon, but if so, I suggest you reintroduce yourself on the intro thread, apologize for barging in with your BFP, and take the time to get to know the ladies there. TTCAL will welcome you with open arms, if you are able to apologize for the misstep, if in fact this doesn't end well. GL.
