TTGP Check- in 10/24

I feel like there are quite a few of us here!

**This is a check in for those who were active on the TTGP board prior to moving here**

I don’t want to be repetitive on the questions from other posts so feel free to post whatever here, just thought of a few questions to get us chatting 😁

1. How many weeks are you?
2. How long were you on TTGP?
3. How did you tell your SO you were pregnant?
4. GTKY: if money wasn’t a factor, what would be your dream job?

  • All the credit for the post goes to @nmbrcrnchr1, I was just the first to reply.
  • Sorry @nmbrcrnchr1, apparently my reading comprehension skills are lacking this a.m.!
  • @antera23 I kinda feel the same...wasn't there long enough to feel right posting in the grad thread, and really don't want to crash the party if I'm not invited. But the advice and knowledge sharing there is pretty much the only reason I am KU at this point, so I have a lot of TTGP love! So feel free to draw a cutoff line, TTGP ladies--no hurt feelings.

@prpl11butterfly @meatballs37 well, you know, that is technically a type of photography... 🤷

    1. How many weeks are you? 8, as of today!
    2. How long were you on TTGP? Lurked for one, active for about 2.5 months. 5 months of TTGKU.
    3. How did you tell your SO you were pregnant? Wrapped up the pee stick in tissue paper and a pretty box, and told him it was his anniversary gift (we've been together 10 years, but October was our 1-year anniversary)
    4. GTKY: if money wasn’t a factor, what would be your dream job?
Being a tenured faculty person (that's less about money and more about uncertainty...I don't have the temperment for that whole process). Or running my own bakery/cafe, which if I didn't have to think about money I could take vacations and run sane hours instead or normal bakery hours.
  • I saw 1 but going to see the 2nd
  • How exciting!!!
  • @meatballs37 The TTGP announcements totally made my morning. I love that so many people have been able to move over lately!
  • Ahhhhhhh! Yay! Sad they aren't going to be on our board, but what a great way to start a Friday.
  • Ooo, I like all the dream jobs! @nmbrcrnchr1 travel reviews would be awesome, if it didn't involve writing...

@TJtheGoat that's kind of what I do in my free time--we buy (and live in) old houses that I slowly restore/fix up over time (I'm an architect and can't help myself). Don't really make much money from it, but it sure is fun!

@klmcguire I love woodworking, too! In my dream house I'd have a professional-grade woodshop, but for now I make furniture sometimes at our community woodworks, when I can find the time to go over there (it's almost an hour away, so I don't go often). What kind of stuff do you like to make?

@spacepiraterunner I have made all kind of things: 10 Ft table, tv stand, cabin bed, twin beds. I even concocted my own stand to put my computer on while I train for tri's. It's not pretty, but probably the first thing I have made with no plans! I just enjoy making things.

Edit to add link. We had started a craft post in TTGP a while back, I added some pics.
