Any appointments? Questions?:Today is my 1st appointment with the OB and I should be getting another US. *TW*I never made it past my 2nd visit last time. I'm entering the time frame of my missed miscarriage and I am so anxious*End TW*
Rants/Raves?: We got halloween costumes finally!
How are you feeling?: tired. mild cramps
QTKY: What's something you have on your bucket list? I really want to visit the Pacific North West. My SO's sister recently moved to Anacortes, WA-so my idea would be to fly to Northern Cali and drive the coast up. Also, I would love to visit Banff in Canada.
@missy052819 I hope everything goes well with your appointment!
Due date/W+D: May 28, 9w
Baby is the size of a(n): Cherry
Any appointments? Questions?: 1 week today before my first appointment!
Rants/Raves?: See below.
How are you feeling?: Awful still. It is taking all of my energy to make it through work. My nausea seems to be tapering off a little, which is good, but I am still tired of feeling sick. I think once I have my first appointment it will feel better because then at least I will know how everything is going, but the anxiety and sickness is getting to me.
QTKY: What's something you have on your bucket list? I want to do a huge Italy tour. I have always had a connection with that side of my family and I would love to see the history.
Good luck today @missy052819 . This is about the timeframe that I had my miscarriage as well (it was my first pregnancy before either of my girls), and I remember just counting down the days until I passed that anniversary when I was pregnant with DD1. I hope your appointment goes really well today and gives you some peace of mind.
Due date/W+D: May 28. 9 weeks today
Baby is the size of a(n): canapé
Any appointments? Questions?: Not until next week. No big questions, but I am planning to discuss my extreme exhaustion with my midwife because it is nearly impossible to push through right now.
Rants/Raves?: DH is being more of a SH the last couple days. He is getting on my every nerve. Like, as if I don't already feel terrible about being so useless. I think we are both so ready for 1st tri to be done and over with, but dang man, snap out of it.
How are you feeling?: See above, debilitating exhaustion. I'm falling asleep everywhere and its so unlike me. I'm not ever someone who will even lay down for the occasional nap after a busy week or late night, yet the past week I can barely keep my eyes open an hour after getting up in the morning. I've been taking several hour naps during the day, then falling asleep at 7:00pm while putting my 3 y/o to bed. There is very little being accomplished in this house.
QTKY: What's something you have on your bucket list? So much travel! Something I would really like to do in a few years is some big road trips with the kids. My grandparents lived across the country from us and we would normally fly out there to visit, but one year we packed up the van and took a little over a week to road trip out there. My mom planned different routes there and back so we got to see SO much of Canada and several northern states. We also took several weeks to drive down to Disneyland two years later. I have such great memories of those trips and would love to plan something similar for my kids.
Baby is the size of a(n): tart kumquat? Whatever that is...
Any appointments? Questions?: I have an appointment with MFM in about 2 weeks and I think I'm going to ask them about NIPT at that time since I'm high risk and I also have a sibling with Down Syndrome. Also, I would get to know the sex way early so that's a bonus
Rants/Raves?: None that I can think of...
How are you feeling?: I think I'm starting to feel some RLP and I'm just so tired virtually all the time. But I'm cool with it. I'll take feeling like junk every day as long as this kid stays in there.
QTKY: What's something you have on your bucket list? @missy052819 I've always wanted to go to the Pacific North West too! My dad was born in Washington and I've always wanted to go.
ETA: I forgot that I'm in Group 3 now since my EDD got adjusted....soooooo....ignore me. Sorry!
Any appointments? Questions?: next week I can take the Materniti21 test. Technically I could do it this Friday bc that will be 10 weeks, but I figured I’d give it a couple more days just in case. I have some FSA money to burn so I was thinking about getting one of those Owlet socks. Anyone have any experience with it?
Rants/Raves?: My plaguing nausea has almost gone away, which is nice but also makes me nervous. At least when I felt like garbage I knew everything was ok
How are you feeling?: Tired still, but less nauseous. I’m starting to want spicy and salty things.
QTKY: What's something you have on your bucket list? I want to go to Hawaii and Harry Potter world in Universal Studios. I also really want to pet a penguin. Perhaps not in that order.
Baby is the size of a(n): Eastern tailed-blue butterfly
Any appointments? Questions?: My next appointment is 11/6. 2 weeks away
Rants/Raves?: My OB found a large cyst on my ovary that's since gotten bigger but it poses no threat to the pregnancy as it stands. It's just very uncomfortable and it's exhausting having to deal with extra pain on top of my nausea and exhaustion already.
How are you feeling?: Already covered above lol
QTKY: What's something you have on your bucket list? Move out of California. CA has better maternity leave payment coverage than most states so we're waiting until we're done having kids to move. We're currently considering Tennessee and Colorado.
Any appointments? Questions?: No appointment still. No questions.
Rants/Raves?: We might be going to visit my husband's family in Montana for Christmas, so that is a little exciting.
How are you feeling?: Swell.
QTKY: What's something you have on your bucket list? I want to travel to some places as well. Besides travel, I want to own a Mini Cooper at some point and try a Baked Alaska!
Any appointments? Questions?:I wasn't planning on any appointments but I had been having some brown discharge for about a week so my midwife scheduled an U/S for me, where I got to see my healthy baby and it's flickering strong heartbeat! Reason why I'm having the discharge still a mystery, though.
Rants/Raves?: I feel like my life is just a cycle of "when can I sleep?" and "when can I eat?"
How are you feeling?: Hungry and Tired with intermittent crying spells when either gets to be too much lol
QTKY: What's something you have on your bucket list? I've been lucky enough to travel around the world and most of the continents but the one place in the world I haven't been to and would LOVE to see is New York City!
Any appointments? Questions?: nothing until next Friday
Rants/Raves?: not really either, just kind of cool. Today I found out that the mom of one of my students is due three days after me so that's kind of fun.
How are you feeling?: aside from feeling deathly on Saturday I've been feeling better in terms of nausea. It's still there but not as debilitating. But still so tired....
QTKY: What's something you have on your bucket list? I have so much! Maybe attending an official Olympic event or a Superbowl game?
@imrachellea DH and I are really hoping Calgary decides to put in a bid for the 2026 Olympics. We didn't make it to Vancouver so we'd be sure to get at least a few events in Calgary if it came. My brother and 2 of his friends went to Sochi. He said it was totally surreal.
Any appointments? Questions?: we have our first prenatal appointment next Wednesday, Halloween (also hubby's birthday!). We also have our NT Screening scheduled for November 19th, the Monday before Thanksgiving.
Rants/Raves?: While I'm certain everything is going to turn out fine, I remembered today it's possible that Down Syndrome runs on my paternal grandma's side if the family, because I know one of my relatives on that side has a child with Down Syndrome. I'm definitely electing to due the NIPT screening because of that. My sister is also a carrier for CF, and I just got my CF test done today along with all my other initial pregnancy blood tests. All these genetics test are amazing, and I'm thankful they exist because we'll get some peace of mind when we inevitably learn our baby is healthy. But at the same time, the interim of not having any answers is giving me so much anxiety. Obviously we will love and cherish our baby no matter what the outcome, but I just want to know that or LO will be healthy and happy!! I'm not sure if it's just me being a first-time mom, but my anxiety about this stuff is crazy!!
How are you feeling?: Tired, bloated, but still not extremely nauseous thankfully. I've started getting dizzy if I get up too quickly, to the point that I immediately get lightheaded and need to sit down. I just need to remember to slow the hell down. 😂
QTKY: What's something you have on your bucket list? Going to Lambeau Field. Go Pack Go!!
@DuchessOfCambridge even when my nausea or exhaustion are the worst I still kind of forget. I get regular reminders though because apparently 3rd time around the RLP starts right away and I constantly get twinged if I’m overdoing it. It’s terrible to say, but now that I’m pregnant I almost feel like I just don’t “have the time” to be pregnant. It’s not that I don’t have time for a new baby, but the pregnancy with no actual baby to tend to yet feels like it’s just slowing me down.
@DuchessOfCambridge I was actually just showing the pictures of my time in Egypt, pyramids included, to one of our school agers this morning! He has his test on Egypt today. I've loved Egypt since I was a kid, and finally got to go when I was 21...it was amazing.
Any appointments? Questions?: Next appointment is Nov 2 which seems so far away but it's next week! Question: for those of you 'blessed' with family close by how do you establish boundaries even before baby arrives - I want to tell my mother, just because I am home this weekend doesn't mean I want you to come by. It's even worse when she says, "it'll be OK for me to come by and see you if you're just hanging out." like, that's not even asking. Please help!
Rants/Raves?: Rant: DH and I were invited to Denver for a birthday weekend for his cousin (and my doctor isn't keen on 1st trimester traveling) I also had significant doubts about the accommodations of said birthday weekend i.e. 4 bedrooms for 14 people means more bunk-beds than bedrooms. Up until last night H wasn't going and then all of a sudden he was booking a flight - no big deal but I had committed to taking in another foster pup this weekend and it can be stressful to do that alone. Fortunately it's an 8 month old golden retriever so bring on the snuggle. Rave: I am getting a manicure/pedicure Friday and then siting on the couch with take out menus and snuggly puppies all. weekend. long. alone.
How are you feeling?: so darn moody. I go from tears, to smiles to grumpy for no reason and DH gets the brunt of it. Maybe that's why he's going to Denver this? Ha. The nausea comes and goes some days I'm OK and others the idea of being around food is enough to turn me green.
ETA: QTKY: What's something you have on your bucket list? Small private sailboat vacation around the Greek isles.
@RoseShadow873 Yes I love them both!!! I never saw the Scorpion King though. My love of Egypt actually came from the Sesame Street movie "Don't Eat the Pictures" 😆
Rants/Raves?: Rave for cranberry gingerale! Has anyone else had it? It's amazing and has been one of the only things I can eat/drink today.
How are you feeling?: Super nauseous today but today aside fairly good. My biggest complaint so far has been low back pain.
QTKY: What's something you have on your bucket list? Swim with dolphins. I've had the opportunity to swim with them in a facility but it's so sad seeing them in an aquarium so I didn't do it because I felt like I would be supporting captivity of them. I would love to see them in the wild though!
@julwanderlust We don't anymore, but from the beginning of our relationship up until last fall DH and I lived in the same town as my mom. I love her and actually often miss living near her but she can be extremely overbearing. Its a small town and the first house DH and I bought together ended up being only a few easy walking blocks away from her house. After a few arguments and hurt feelings (hers) she started to understand that I just needed to be able to have my own space. We had to go through it a bit again after DD1 was born, but it didn't take as much to get her to back off. The nice thing about having family close once baby is born is that they don't necessarily have to come visit you. I took full advantage of my mom being around the corner during those first couple of months because it was pretty easy to drop DD off for an hour or two, run some errands alone or go back home and take a nap. Then I'd pick her up before it was time for her next feed (I breastfed and she always refused the bottle). It gave nana her baby fix and I planned it entirely around my own schedule to make it also helpful for me. For now, I'd suggest telling your mom that sometimes you just want to rest alone and that you and DH need your own space. Unannounced visits are not welcome. Take the initiative to plan some time to visit with her that does work for you. I always found that when I ignored my mom too much that was when she'd start to invite herself over, so as long as I make the effort to see her once it a while she was better at leaving me alone the rest of the time. Same with the baby. If I planned regular visits that worked for me, she was less likely to want to drop by unannounced.
@mcewen3 that's really great advice. Look back to when DS was born last November I wish we had laid down some wishes/rules with our family when it came to visiting and dropping by. It got really overwhelming and let to stress for us and hurt feelings for our family. I think if we had been upfront about wanting some time and space then we could of avoided it all.
