Any appointments? Questions?: This Thursday!! Anatomy scan and OB appointment back to back

Rants/Raves?: Rave that my husband is back after a week away for work!i

How are you feeling?: Tired and achy but overall pretty good! Heartburn is starting already but tums are my new bff.

GTKY: What's your current favorite/top must-have registry item?

Hmmm.... probably a double stroller is what I’m most looking forward to with baby #2

    Due date: 3/2

Any appointments? Questions?: Prenatal check up on Wednesday. I have another ultrasound scheduled for 3 weeks from now because I have a low lying placenta so they want to check to make sure it 'moves' but the US report recommended doing that in 2 months instead of 1 so I want to ask my midwife about pushing that appointment back. I don't want to come in in 3 weeks only to have them tell me it's still too close to the cervix and have to schedule another one.

Rants/Raves?: Rave: Due to travel fatigue from multiple cross-state trips for weddings and family events, DH and I have zero interest in going somewhere for a babymoon but we have planned a few local day trips and performances. I am most excited to see our local symphony perform live during a showing of the movie The Nightmare Before Christmas. Should be so fun!

How are you feeling?: My throat has been a little scratchy and I'm really tired. Hoping this isn't the start of another cold! Also feeling some occasional RLP and I keep waking up at night due to hip pain. I'm hoping keeping more hydrated might make things feel better?

GTKY: What's your current favorite/top must-have registry item? I am trying to keep to the more practical things. I hate having things for the sake of things and although I am a FTM, I feel like the baby shouldn't need much in the way of toys as just experiencing the world should give plenty of stimulation to start and I am weary of overstimulating. At the recommendation of many friend parents, I did register for a kick and play piano gym play mat. That's probably the most fun item I have there.

    Due date: 3/6

Any appointments? Questions?: No appointment until 11/6! :( But had a successful anatomy scan last week (Thursday) where we left feeling really happy. Baby girl is a wiggler and I think she looks just like her dad based on our 3D ultrasound pics! No questions at the moment.

Rants/Raves?: DH is traveling for work the 3rd week in a row. Luckily his travel is always in short spurts (2-3 days at a time) but the back to back weeks is kind of a bummer. I've started working on "designing" my shower, which will be a big blog post with lots of collaborations (hence needing the extra time to plan). I'm really excited for it! We're doing a "BABY It's Cold Outside" theme at the end of January. Event planning is such a fun pastime for me. I never get stressed out about it - I love planning every little detail, so I'm thrilled to be turning this corner where I can finally start thinking about it!

How are you feeling?: Really good! Still a bit of RLP here and there. Crazy dreams and belly getting bigger by the day. That's about it!

GTKY: What's your current favorite/top must-have registry item? - I'm so pumped that I found a highchair that isn't a jumbo piece of plastic! It's called the Oxo Tot Sprout and it's got nice wooden legs that will sit beautifully at our dining table without causing an eye-sore.

    Due date: 3/6

    Any appointments? Questions?:

No appointments until the week after next

Rants/Raves?: Rave: I cleaned out the baby's room (it used to be my girls' toy room) and I am on my way to creating the built-in dresser and shelves and built the changing table!

Rant: still no matching crib in stock for the foreseeable future so I am going to cave and get the white equivalent and hang onto it and exchange it in case the black comes back into stock.  We're doing a shiplap wall where the crib will be and I don't want white on white.

    How are you feeling?:

Still feel great and so, so thankful for it.  I cannot begin to describe the difference between this pregnancy and my twin pregnancy.  This one is filled with glitter-farting, rainbow-jumping unicorns in comparison!

GTKY: What's your current favorite/top must-have registry item?

Third kid, so no registry. I did just buy the Halo Bassinest and the 4 Moms swing thing from my friend, though, and I love myself some Velcro swaddles.

    Due date: 3/6

Any appointments? Questions?: not until 11/2 (ultrasound) and 11/6 (obgyn), we have to go back for another ultrasound because baby was hiding his face and the front of his heart. I asked about medical necessity (we haven't met our deductible yet, so the first one was expensive as we work our way up to meeting it!) if everything else looked healthy but my doctor said that if we do it she can refer us to specialists just in case something is abnormal-- so we are going to do it.

@indigoheightsblog I LOVE that baby shower theme..  We are also planning one in January and our wedding theme was 'pray for snow' after a local beer, hahah. Mind if I copy you??

How are you feeling?: overall pretty good. I've continued to get some left hip pain, especially when the dog pulls me on walks to go sniff things, but my headaches have definitely reduced lately - only one in the last 2 weeks.

GTKY: What's your current favorite/top must-have registry item? Oh gosh  everything. This is my first baby so we have absolutely nothing. Hmmm. Probably the crib that converts to 4 sizes and can be used until LO is 3, because I am thinking about getting that on black Friday if no one gets it for us first. But that is also true of the changing table/dresser combo that we found. As far as things I actually can't rationalize spending too much on, (but will check Craigslist for if it's not gifted!) is the really nice hiking stroller!

    Due date: 3/2

Any appointments? Questions?: Not this week. My next monthly appointment is in 3 weeks.

Rants/Raves?: I know I shouldn’t be ranting, but my MIL watches my son every Monday and I’m starting to dread it. She’s just not the warmest person and his schedule is always screwed up when she comes over. He didn’t take a nap last week which is completely unheard of for him and he was an exhausted wreck when I got home at 4. I just feel like it’s  more work sometimes having her and my son seems happier with his nanny.

How are you feeling?: I’m feeling good. No complaints.

GTKY: What's your current favorite/top must-have registry item?  This is baby #2 so no registry here. I am planning on buying the owlet smart sock though. @BuckeyeNut05 we have the Halo from our first (he didn’t like it) so I’m really looking forward to using it with this one. I love how closely you can keep it to your bedside. Hopefully this baby won’t mind it.

@bug_hunter Ugh, sorry about your husband’s job. I don’t blame you for being upset. Fingers crossed that this is out of the ordinary and things get better for both of you.

    Due date: March 7th

Any appointments? Questions?: I have a repeat anatomy scan on November 2nd.  No questions at the moment.

Rants/Raves?: Rant: My class is super chatty and I got a new student today. Rave: My grandpa is in town and we had a nice family dinner on Friday and went apple picking yesterday.

How are you feeling?:  I still have some major food aversions. I have had a lot of headaches the last week.  I'm definitely getting bigger by the day.

GTKY: What's your current favorite/top must-have registry item? I really want an owlet. I think it will make it a lot easier to sleep at night. I also really want to get her a pair of the new red Minnie Mouse Vans with the bow that just came out.  They are so cute!  We are Disneyland passholders and I can't wait to take her. @indigoheightsblog I have a nice wooden high chair as well and I love it.  I hate the crazy all plastic ones!

  • Options
@teachermama4 That’s exactly why I want the Owlet. Last time, I felt like I was constantly checking on DS. Hoping the owlet will give me some peace of mind.

On the topic of high chairs, I have this travel chair on my registry because a couple friends of mine used it for their kids and it seems sooo useful. It adjusts to fit on to pretty much any table. They brought it when they were visiting our house and out to restaurants. I definitely want one for when we are visiting family.

I had been really interested in the Owlet thing, too, but then read a study that didn't have rave reviews on its efficacy.

    For those due March 1-9.

    Due date: March 9

Any appointments? Questions?: Anatomy scan was last Thursday and went really well! This baby is a mover and a shaker! We also had the regular midwife appointment after and it went very well also! Baby is measuring well at 12 oz and everything checked out great!

Rants/Raves?: We are having a small gender reveal on Saturday... I can’t wait to finally find out if this baby is a boy or girl. With my first I just knew the whole time it was a boy. This time I feel a tiny bit like it’s a girl (but I think it might be me trying to be hopeful). I think it’s most likely a boy and I’ll be ultimately excited for either.

How are you feeling?: Finally feeling better :) a little nausea comes up here and there, I’m super hungry, still pretty tired but that’s probably just because work is crazy right now, and RLP is getting more real. I’m also starting to feel Braxton Hicks which surprises me I didn’t feel them this early with DS.

GTKY: What's your current favorite/top must-have registry item?

I would love a tall bassinet that comes up to the bed but I’m not sure if I can justify it to DH.

So, YMMV of course, but I used almost this exact one all summer. I didn't love it. For one, my daughter would try to push herself off the table! So we had to keep an even closer eye than if it was a regular high chair or the kind that straps to a chair. And the second reason I didn't like it is there's just so much space to drop food, both in the lap and down the crack between the front of the chair and the table, as opposed to a regular high chair where the tray can be snugged up against their belly. Also, for all the advertisement about how these kind work with "most tables," in my experience there are plenty of tables it won't work with. It wouldn't work with our home dining table because the table top is too thick. Folding tables so don't bother taking it to family picnics or potlucks. Any other kind of table that's not super heavy or is on the small side. Pedestal tables you'd want to be cautious of because they can be more wobbly. Round tables might work, but not super well. Anything with a large ridge or bump within a foot or so of the edge of the table on the underside (more common than you might think!) And then, of course, it's fabric, so it's harder to clean or keep clean.

Personally, I prefer something like this. It won't fold down quite as small but still relatively compact. It's lighter than something like you posted. All plastic and easy to clean, just wipe it down, plus the tray goes in the dishwasher. And the straps are typically pretty long and really will fit just about any chair.

    Due date: March 2

Appointments/questions: Appointment in a few days. No questions.

Rants/raves: We're partially moved in to our new house. That's both the rant and the rave. I hate moving.

Feeling: Truly terrible the past few days. Fortunately, it's improved the last couple. So much pain. I think I'm going to go to the chiropractor.

GTKY: IDK. Second baby so no shower. Might still do a registry in case people want to know what we need. I'm a bit jaded. We had a fairly small registry, and none of it could have even been remotely described as frivolous. 30-40 items maybe. We only got two or three of the things off it. Last time, I was most excited about the SSC, and we didn't get it. And we were broke, so I ended up just getting a cheapo one when I needed it instead of the one I actually wanted. :/

@lovesclimbing I registered for a chair like the one you posted for at home, too. I am more interested in the chair I posted for travel purposes. In particular, my parents live 2.5 hours away and we bring our dog and cat with us when we go there. Add baby and we need everything to be as compact and easy to travel as possible. My friends both swore by their version of that chair but I can see why it wouldn't work for everyone and every situation.

    ETA: "and every situation."

@mayoduck We have one and I love it! Ours is Phil and Ted’s brand, but it looks similar. Just be aware of what @lovesclimbing brought up. There are definitely tables it won’t work with. We mostly use ours when sitting at restaurant booths because our son loves to sit next to us as opposed to in a high chair at the end of the table.

Any appointments? Questions?: Nothing until my blood glucose test on 11/13

Rants/Raves?: I think I’m feeling baby boy kicking now versus just tingles/flutters. Such an odd but great feeling!

How are you feeling?: Pretty good, got some random waves of nausea recently and definitely don’t love that.

GTKY: What's your current favorite/top must-have registry item? Hmmm..I honestly have no idea. I probably should start a registry soon. Haha

Appointments/Questions: I keep having to go back and forth to the doctor for my blood pressure. I've had chronic hypertension since I was a teenager but my pressure went down significantly in my 1st trimester. My doctor is trying to find a safe medication that will actually work for me.

Rants: Besides this BP problem....my morning sickness is coming back! Literally thought I was going to puke in the middle of my classroom today.

Raves: It finally feels like Fall outside and I am wearing leggings and sweaters until March!!

Feeling: Worried about this BP. I really don't want to go on bed rest or have to be induced early! I'm also still really tired.

GTKY: Weirdly enough I don't care, people keep asking me what type of stroller or carseat I want and I'm like...one that works haha

I had 2 friends at work who used them recently with their newborns and they loved them. They also had to return one that malfunctioned and the company sent a new replacement right away.  I used one of those sensor pads under the crib mattress with my son and it didn't work well.  I am going to try it and see.  Thanks for the link.

    Due date: 3/3

Any appointments? Questions?: Just had our anatomy scan Friday and appointment. It’s anothe girl! Next appointment is I believe November 16th.

Rants/Raves?: It has been freezing in my office since the temperature dropped outside. I don’t think they have turned the a/c off yet. But by the end of the day with the sun on my side of the building, my office becomes hot. Can’t win.

How are you feeling?: Good! Still struggle with being tired due to a crazy increase in my caseload this month. And I think the random night pee breaks have begun as well. Yay for less sleep!

GTKY: What's your current favorite/top must-have registry item? STM so no shower. Although I think my SIL is secretly planning a get together for my family because it has been 5 years since I’ve had a baby. I think the only big thing on my list I’d like to get this time is a bedside bassinet. DD just ended up in our bed and we attempted to use our pack ‘n play next to the bed but our room is too small to make it work. I think a bassinet will fit easier if we get the right one and will make it easier on me for night feedings.

@BuckeyeNut05 Thanks for linking the study. It’s a bit disappointing, but honestly, I didn’t expect the Owlet monitor to be completely comparable to a hospital grade monitor- even though it should be for the price. Also, the study used premature hospitalized babies. I’ll probably still buy it.

    Due date: 3/2

Any appointments? Questions?: I just did my 3 hour GBS test. Boy, did that suck. Hoping I passed, though! Also, my MFM wants me to have an echocardiogram on the 6th. I need to call and find out why since I thought my tests came back normal.

Rants/Raves?: My meal after the 3 hr test was sooooo good! :)

How are you feeling?: Much better now than I was this morning! Although I am large-chested and the area in bw that and my bump is already getting irritated. I feel like physically, I am already in the 3rd tri. *Edited to add after I got up from playing with DD, that my right hip flexor has been sore since Monday.  Ugh.

GTKY: What's your current favorite/top must-have registry item? I'm gonna change this to must have baby item, but I loved the muslin swaddle blankets. I also got a nursing footstool that was very handy last time but not sure if I'll need it this time or not since we have a different couch (my main nursing spot).

     Due date: 03/03

Any appointments? Questions?: I had my anatomy scan yesterday (10/23). This was our first look at baby since the 8 week dating scan. He (it's a boy! I was so sure it was a girl) was "spine up" so the ultrasound tech was unable to get a good view of a few things. A few things: he is measuring in the 99th percentile for size. His heart rate was 152 but she was unable to get a view of his ventricles. We go back in 4 weeks for a re-scan but I am very nervous now because they couldn't see "everything" they wanted to. Am I being unnecessarily anxious? Has anyone else had a baby measure so large at 21 weeks?

Rants/Raves?: Having a full bladder while they press on your bladder for 30+ minutes for this scan was incredibly uncomfortable. It almost made it too uncomfortable to enjoy seeing my little guy. Also, hubby cried happy tears when she said boy. Such a softy.

How are you feeling?: Tired. Always tired. But, still loving every time I feel movement, which is getting more and more frequent. However, I have started to have motion-sickness when driving- and I have an hour and a half commute to work. This has not been fun.

GTKY: What's your current favorite/top must-have registry item? Owlette Monitor! So pricey but I think it'll be worth the $$ for the peace of mind. If not purchased for me at my shower I will definitely be getting one myself.

    Due date: 3/7

Any appointments? Questions?: Just had anatomy scan yesterday and confirmed we are having a baby girl! They did mention the placenta was covering the cervix, so I have to come back in 8 weeks for another ultrasound to see if it has shifted. This appointment was not at my regular doctor office. My next doctor appointment isn't until 11/6 so I will follow up with them at that time, but does anyone have a similar experience? Really just looking for additional insight.

Rants/Raves?: Only raves this week - everything was perfectly healthy with baby at the ultrasound! Measuring in 88th percentile. MH is so sweet about everything and has already put the ultrasound picture as his background on his phone. My heart is so full!

How are you feeling?: I'm feeling fine. Head and back pain along with lack of sleep has been pretty consistent for the last couple weeks, but mentally I am doing great and my appetite has definitely increased. Haha.

GTKY: What's your current favorite/top must-have registry item?: I am so lost with all things registry, but we are going to try to finalize this weekend. I haven't been around newborns in so long I didn't realize how much stuff they really need. I feel a little overwhelmed. Most of my friends have told me a rock and play will change my life, so I am taking their advice. Haha.

  • Options
@cancer2988 Congrats on the baby boy! I don't know the percentile but my baby has been consistently measuring 8 days ahead and I'm sure of when I ovulated so I'm guessing he's just on the bigger side then. If your doctor hasn't mentioned it, it's probably not of any real concern. Maybe your baby recently had a growth spurt!
  • Options
@lalalauren15 I have a low lying anterior placenta. It's not covering my cervix but it is closer than they like and so I have to go back in 8 weeks too to get it checked. It's my understanding that more often than not, it resolves itself fine and even if it's still partially covering or too close at 28 weeks, that doesn't necessarily mean anything other than they will continue to watch it.
  • Options
@mayoduck Thank you! I too have a low lying anterior placenta and my doctor also stated that we will just watch it for now and that more than likely it will shift and not be an issue.
  • Options
@cancer2988 It's definitely more common than I originally thought! Fingers crossed for all of us low placenta ladies. :)

@mayoduck @cancer2988 thank you both for providing a little reassurance before I went down the Google black hole! Haha :)

    Due date: 3/8

Any appointments? Questions?: can’t remember if I’ve updated since my AS and fetal echo last week so I’ll do it now (again?). Baby was a turn during the echo. Cardiologist had a hard time getting good pictures and couldn’t guarantee that he wasn’t missing a small hole like DH and DS1 both had a birth. But he did seem confident that there weren’t any major issues since blood flow seemed totally normal. Baby then summersaulted and the US tech had amazing pictures of everything. He’s measuring perfectly but because of our previous scare they still have me labeled as high risk and I go back at 28 weeks.

Rants/Raves?: Rant - non of my maternity tops from last go round fit. LO sits so low that all my shirts are too short already. I now have to go shopping and I HATE it.

How are you feeling?: Feeling pretty alright. Just still tired all the time. I think I got my 2nd tri energy boost all in one day and now it’s gone again.

GTKY: What's your current favorite/top must-have registry item? A nice rocking recliner to keep in the “nursery” area of our room. Couldn’t sleep in a bed for almost a month with DS1 and 3 weeks with DS2 so I want something comfy to sleep in near baby that also works for nursing and whatnot.

@cancer2988 Bigger baby, right here! This LO is measuring 98th percentile or something. This is my 4th pregnancy and all my babes have measured ahead (my last one and this one a couple weeks ahead!). Are you/DH tall? Were you yourselves big when you were born? My DH is 6'4" and I'm almost 6' and were both over 8lbs at birth. We just make bigger kids. My kids have all hovered around 8ish lbs (last one was almost 9 and she's the tallest 3 year old I know!). No worries about size if the doctors aren't worried. Maybe you and your DH just make them a little on the bigger size, too. Also, I know ultrasound is getting more accurate now, but they can still be way off when it comes to baby's actual birth weight.
  • Options
@cancer2988 I second what @Lbloom has said. Some people just make big babies. My daughter was 10.5 pounds and is now a 2 year old in size 6 clothes. This baby boy on the way is measuring a week ahead now, so my guess is he will be big too. I come from a tall family and my husband and I were both big babies. My grandma had 5 babies all over 10 pounds. Some people just grow them big.
  • Options
@Lbloom and @maggiemadeit, DH is 6'3 but I am only 5'2. I was a small baby but he was big. Guess the little guy is going to take after his daddy and be on the larger size.

    Due date: March 8th

Any appointments? Questions?: None until mid Nov but we did meet with a doula last weekend and I think we've finally decided to go with her services! The cost and feeling "hippy dippy" are what kept me on the fence but I think I really need the female support because this pregnancy has resurfaced feelings of loss for my mother (from 18 years ago! lol).

Rants/Raves?: I'm really loving this new company I joined, woo!

How are you feeling?: Finally starting to feel pregnant and I'm kinda loving it. Before I could see and feel the physical changes, it kind of felt like it was all in my head. I kept asking MH, "Am I really pregnant? Is there really a baby in there? Are you sure the US was not some illusion?"

GTKY: What's your current favorite/top must-have registry item? I have not even thought about a registry. Gonna set that up this week. One of the many reasons I enjoy being on this BMB - gentle reminders to get my butt in gear!

This baby was not that large at the anatomy scan, but was in the low 80s percentile.

I think the women in my family just make big babies. My daughter was 8, 12.5. At a couple appointments, she measured right on (fundal height), but she mostly measured 1-2 weeks ahead. I delivered her out of hospital (so no pain meds) just fine. I did have a second degree tear, which had just a couple stitches and healed quickly and with no issues. FWIW, I did deliver on the birthing stool, which my midwives generally aren't a huge fan of because you deliver so fast due to the gravity assist, which can potentially increase tearing. But that's where my pushes were most effective, so that's what we did. If I'd delivered more reclined, it potentially could have been less.

I fully expect another large baby.

Any appointments? Questions?: Nope! It’s nice to have a week off

Rants/Raves?: I can’t sleep!! (As evidence this is being posted at 4AM here) I keep waking up at 2 or 3 and bouncing off the walls!! It’s driving me nuts because my son wakes up at 5:30 so I just don’t really sleep anymore

How are you feeling?: tired! Lol

GTKY: What's your current favorite/top must-have registry item. I haven’t actually registered for anything. This is baby 2 so I feel weird doing a registry. Do any second time moms have at tips for how to get over the awkward
