How did you and your SO meet? Was it love at first sight or did it take time for you to know he was the one?

Me and H met online. We both liked rock climbing and said so on our dating profiles, so we decided to meet up to go climbing. We hit it off right away and the rest is history!

We met the first week of college. I remember meeting him and instantly hoping he was single. Unfortunately he had a GF at the time so I settled on becoming best friends. Thankfully he and his GF broke up a few months later and we instantly went from best friends to dating. It shocked no one. February will be 12 years together (4.5 years married).

We went to college together and were acquaintances. My best friend worked with him... I didn't have time for boys and apparently the fact that I had 3 jobs make him break up with a girl and ask me out.

MH and I lived across the street from each other after college. He also stopped by my office somewhat regularly (we were working in related fields). One night I had a bunch of girlfriends over and we were drinking champagne and being stupid. Someone got the idea of flipping the breakers so we could say our power was out and the guys across the street could help us. One of the girls headed over and MH's mom answered the door! None of the guys were home, so we carried on with our night. An hour or so later, there was a knock at the door - his mom sent him over to help us. My poor husband was standing there with a flashlight, looking like he wanted to die, with like 9 drunk girls staring at him. I had to stand with him in the garage and pretend like I didn't know how to flip a breaker. The rest is history.

I did confess that it was all fake a few months after we started dating. He loves to tell the story - me, not so much 😂

We met at work when we were both lab techs. He would always find excuses to come to the lab I was working in. I had the biggest crush on him and I was in shock when I found out he was asking some of my friends if I had a boyfriend. I invited him to a party I was having at my house and we have almost spent every night together since.

I had just gone through a not very nice breakup with my ex (he cheated on me and had been living with his other girlfriend for 7 months of our year and a half relationship). I have myself a week to be sad, a couple weeks to focus on me again, and then I decided (at the prompting of my best friend) to join Match for a trial month just to learn how to date again. My husband was the second date I went on and it was the date that never ended. I swore I would never dated military again (my ex was a reservist) and I somehow went from military lite to military on steroids. Oh well. He’s worth it.

DH and I met at work as medical lab techs about 7 years ago. We both were in relationships at the time. But eventually we were both single again after a couple years. I suppose timing is everything. 

We worked night shifts together and a lot of us would hang out together after work. DH and I eventually starting hanging out on our own, playing video games until the wee hours after our shifts. And here we are married almost 4 years later staying up into the wee hours being parents instead.

We met though our friends while I was in HS. One of his friends was dating my (at the time) BFF. They and another friend, P, had stopped by to hang out while my fam was out. The guys ran out to get some food but since they had taken separate cars initially, Ps was still at my house. DH was on his way to Ps and saw his car in my driveway. He figured they were all there so stopped in. Opened the door, walked right in without even knocking. It was love at first sight, and here we are 15yrs (4 married) later.

We met at a mutual friend's birthday party.  We had both recently gotten out of very serious relationships (both exes were at the party), so that night we just chatted.  A few months later I "ran into him" online, and that was it.  Our first date lasted seven hours at a pub and we bought a house together a few months after that.  Neither of us are friends with the birthday girl anymore, but I'm sure glad we were then!

We met in high school on a teen retreat our school was doing (Catholic school). I was a freshman (14 or 15). He was a senior (already 18). We were friends for a few years and started dating when I graduated and turned 18. We weren’t waiting for that or anything, there just really wasn’t any romantic connection before then. Together for almost 10 years and married for 5

We met through mutual friends while jet skiing. I loved his blue eyes. He was from my hometown area and I went back to college a couple weeks later. We didn't keep in good contact and I end up blowing him off. A month later he was visiting friends that went to my college and we ran into each other. He ignored me and apparently that's the best way to get my attention because we've been together ever since that night. Together for 8 years married for 4.5 years.

I had moved back home after a few years out of state for work and ending a 9 year relationship. I was in transition and the last thing I wanted was a serious relationship, I was looking someone to have fun with but if I had another second date where some bloke told me he was going to reverse his vasectomy for me (we hadn’t talked serious let alone kids) I was writing off dating forever. We met on match.com because I didn’t want any surprises in what we were looking for  - no marriage, no kids. I wanted them eventually but not then. 

5 years later we are married and on our 4th child. Jerk pulled the bait and switch on me 😍 wouldn’t have it any other way.

We met our second day of university, both enrolled in the same program. He was actually engaged to someone else (sounds scandalous but I promise it wasn't) We had a ton of classes together and became class buddies. The next semester we had zero classes together and didn't see each other at all. At an end of first year party we saw each other again..he came right up to me and said 'Hi! I'm not engaged anymore!' 😂 Started hanging out and dating later that summer and the rest is history

We met on Match.com in the days before it was considered socially acceptable to do online dating, so for many years we had a "work and casual aquaintences" meet-cute story about running in the park. It took about 3 years for my friends to refer to him by something other than his Match screen name...but after dating for 10 years, 5 states, 13 moves, and 3 graduate degrees, my mom finally refers to him as something other than my "internet boyfriend".

We were friends for years and always had chemistry but if I wasn’t in a relationship he was and vice versa. I ended up moving to nyc for school. We would still hang out when I would come back to Seattle. When I graduated and decided to move back we decided we would give it a try. 

I rented my own place, but basically moved into his place a week later and we were engaged a year after that. We’ve been married 7.5 years. 

Fun fact: We called the apartment I had Cat Fortress bc I would only go back there to feed the cats- so basically I paid rent for my cats to have their own place😆

We met online and had our first date at a Chinese restaurant. I was a bartender at the time so never had weekends off and we only had a Thursday night free together but he told me he was broke until Friday so I offered to pay for our first date. 

We had a great date and at the end he took the check and said I was crazy if I was thinking that I was ever really paying for this date. He just wanted to see if I was really into him. Which I was, and then he asked me to be his girlfriend that night after he walked me to my car. I said yes and then broke up with him a day later. I was like this man is crazy. I’m crazy for saying yes.

A week went by and I got called off work for Friday night so I texted him and asked him if he wanted to have dinner as friends. He met me for dinner and I confirmed I was in love with him and we got back together. I’m divorced so he’s step dad to DS1 but is the best father and partner I could ask for. I can’t believe we fell in love that fast but here we are, so

We met at work, but we worked in different cities. Annually my company had a training in Jersey. I was from the NY office, he was from the Boston office, our first training we were in the same session. I had a serious boyfriend, and we just became friends. We didn't really speak till the second year training, I recently broke up with that boyfriend, and had no interest in dating, again we just chatted. I next saw him at the third year training, I was single, and he was going out with someone, but contemplating breaking up, I gave him advice which he still remembers, "you should talk to her". Since that training, we spoke on work messenger daily, and texted just about everyday. He broke up with his girlfriend a few weeks later. About a month later he invited me to Boston for the weekend, the rest is history

We met my first week of college (beginning of his third year). We went to a big engineering school and when I was a freshman women only made up 30% of the population and I happened to live on the only female only floor. He was a RA and decided to do a get together with his all male floor and my all female floor. I ended up making friends with someone on his floor who ended up joining his fraternity. One Thursday night all of my friends went out and I stayed in because I had class at 8am on Friday (boo!). My girlfriend texted me while she was out and said "<DH's name> is wondering why you're not here" and I replied.. "Isn't that <Friends name> RA?!". Well, I ended up hanging out with him at a party the next night and we had an instant connection. The rest is history  

We've been together for over 10 years, married for 3 years as of next week!

He was actually my boss 😳 But nothing scandalous was happening and neither one of us expressed any interest until neither of us were no longer working there. He took a job in another state, and we kept in touch here and there. Then on Christmas he wished me a Merry Christmas and we ended up staying up all night talking. We just clicked and found out we had a lot in common. 6 months later he moved back to my hometown to be with me and that was that!

I had broken up with a serious bf (and a serious asshole coincidentally) earlier in the year and was trying to get into being single again. My BFF has other plans. She went home for Christmas and her cousin had asked her if she had any “hot nurse friends” to set him up with. So she invited us both to her New Years party. We actually didn’t immediately hit it off that night bc I thought he was into my friend but I was interested. He ended up kissing me at midnight kind of out of the blue. We went on a date the next weekend and he was a little cool for a few weeks but then things to serious pretty fast. By March we knew that this was the one. That NYE will be 6 years ago this year! Married 4!

We met online. We lived 3 hours apart, and dated long distance for awhile. I was still in college and he was a teacher at a high school, but he hated his job. At the end of the school year and after we had been dating 6 months, he interviewed at a few schools around his area. The only one he ended up getting happened to be 40 minutes away from where I was. It all worked out just right and now we’ve been married a year and a half.

My best friends came to visit me in Boston and I was showing them around. We had a marathon day that ended with an Ugly Sweater house party (before they were cool)in a basement in Southie. We met across the Beirut table. I was on Team Tampa and we beat him and his friends. He asked for my phone number and away we went. 

It’s will be 12 years this Christmas and 6 years married. My parents have moved up here part time so it is well and truly a family affair.

We met at a pub in London, England. It turned out that we had worked across the street from each other years earlier, back in the US. I joke that I only dated him because I could actually understand every word he said and dating Brits was getting tiring (in fact I had just ended things with a super hot guy from Birmingham whose sentences I understood clearly only 75% of the time). The truth is that it had been a very long time since I had met someone who felt cut from the same cloth in terms of values, sense of humor, interests, etc. I was also convinced he would be a great dad and he is the absolute best. We dated a year in the UK, eventually moved into his London flat for a while, and in another year came back to the US together and got engaged. We have been married about 5 years and have a 3.5 year old.

We got set up by a mutual friend, who had previously set me up with someone else and it was terrible. When the friend said he wanted me to meet this other guy (DH) I refused, because duh, I didn't trust his judgement anymore! After several months of pushing it, I finally I agreed to meet them for happy hour. We had instant chemistry and the rest is history. DH and I are both from the DC area and knew a ton of people in common. Ironically, the friend who set us up is from Charleston and it's just so random that we never met before given our high schools, and the neighborhoods where we each grew up. Together for 8 years, married for 5 in January.
