Hook effect 5 weeks

Ok so I got a BFP saturday morning. Faint, but confirmed by digital. Now today (Thursday) my cheapie test looks basically negative. I’d be exactly 5 weeks today. Has anyone had the “hook effect” happen at only 5 weeks? I am of course freaking out. No bleeding or severe cramping.

Unfortunately no one here can confirm your pregnancy, even by swapping stories. If you are looking for reassurance, the best place to go is your doctor and get a HCG quant drawn. Good luck.

Eta: @nmbrcrnchr1 gave some great advice too. Why don’t you jump into some of the daily threads while you are waiting for a confirmation from your OB. This place is nice to pass the time when you are anxious.

I had to google “hook effect” bc I’ve never heard of that term before. In my quick google search it seems it’s very rare.

The fainter test could be caused by multiple things (faulty test, urine sample, TW*chemical pregnancy*TW). Only way to know is to test again or call your doctor to request a blood draw.
also as an FYI it’s against TOU to ask if you are pregnant here, and like @catmommac said we can’t tell you anyways.
