Re: PGAL Check-In Oct 11

  • 1. How far along are you? 21w1d

    2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)? - Good! Definitely feeling that 2nd tri bliss. Nothing hurts, yay! Feeling a little more tired than usual, but that's about it.

    3. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)? - Also good! AS went well, and the regular little kicks and punches are very reassuring. Pretty sure he had the hiccups last night, so cute!

    4. Any appointment updates? - AS last week which went well, and regular OB appt next week.

    5. What's been happening in your life this week? Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here): - Work is bonkers, people quitting left and right it seems like. Trying to figure out what to do for my birthday next week, I turn 30 and have no clue what I want to do. H is not the planning type, so I'm not expecting a surprise party or dinner date.

    6. GTKY: If you had to live in the 1700s, what convenience would you miss most? - Are we talking pre- or post industrial revolution? I'll probably say electricity. We take being able to stay warm and well lit for granted these days!

  • 1. How far along are you? 22 weeks

    2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)? - I'm feeling pretty good. A little back pain in the mornings sometimes, but otherwise nothing!

    3. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)? - Meh. It's been a few weeks since my AS, and I don't have another appointment for two weeks, so I'm in that middle period where I feel like it's been too long since I've had any type of reassurance. I'm not feeling baby move much due to an anterior placenta, so I don't have that constant reassurance. Guess this is just life.

    4. Any appointment updates? - AS two weeks ago, and OB in two weeks. Smack dab in the middle!

    5. What's been happening in your life this week? Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here): - It's been a busy week. I'm the "Outreach Chair" for my church, and this week one person from church emailed me twice (and then called three times in a row!) in a single day about this random ministry that they want to get involved with because they heard about it from their friend, and they think it would be of interest to other people in our church. I was like "Sounds great! Here's who you contact to put a blurb in the announcements". Turns out they put ME down as the contact person for anyone interested in getting involved. I was like "NO! YOU are the one organizing this, since it was YOUR idea. I will help you get the word out, but "Outreach Chair" does not mean that any person can think up any idea and just tell me to do it for them." My term is up in December, and I'm counting down the days.

    6. GTKY: If you had to live in the 1700s, what convenience would you miss most? - Penicillin
  • 1. How far along are you?
    24 weeks!
    2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)? Pretty good except for hip pain at night which is messing with my sleep.

    3. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)? Also pretty good. Had a scare the other day where she wasn’t moving as much but the next day she was back to normal. I think the same happened with DD where they have ‘resting days’.

    4. Any appointment updates? Not until the 24th. Then I have my GTT and regular OB appt.

    5. What's been happening in your life this week? Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here):  Nap struggles with DD but also trying to get ready for her 2nd birthday party tomorrow. She loves Daniel Tiger so that is our theme and I’m excited for her to see the decorations and play with everyone.

    6. GTKY: If you had to live in the 1700s, what convenience would you miss most?  Being in Florida it would definitely be A/C. I don’t know how people lived here full time without it.
  • 1. How far along are you? 23w2d

    2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)? Pretty good overall!

    3. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)? It comes and goes. I thought that by this point I would be feeling less anxiety about the health of the pregnancy/baby, but I feel like every couple of weeks, the fears ramp back up again. Trying to take some deep breaths.

    4. Any appointment updates? Had an OB appt earlier this week. It was fine, not terribly interesting.

    5. What's been happening in your life this week? Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here): Ugh. Actually had a lady outside DD1’s tell me that I must be having twins because I’m sooo big. Yup. Then she proceeded to go on and on about how much smaller her boss is than I am and how she’s due a month before me. I basically just said, “That’s great,” and turned around and put DD1 in the car while she continued to ramble. Where do people get the nerve??? I got some annoying comments with DD1, but this really took the cake.

    6. GTKY: If you had to live in the 1700s, what convenience would you miss most? Definitely air conditioning. I hate the heat and REALLY hate it when it’s hot inside.
  • 1. How far along are you? 21 weeks

    2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)? Pretty good, although more tired than last week. I blame the major allergies I have been having due to fluctuating temps

    3. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)? Ok, like @hannahbananas11 the whole anterior placenta thing means I don't feel baby as much as I would like, just the occasional tap or random pain where I think he's kicking some other organ. I am also 3 weeks post-AS and have another 2.5 until my next OB appointment, I want to hear that hb on the doppler again!

    4. Any appointment updates? Nothing until 10/30

    5. What's been happening in your life this week? Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here): I am just feeling tired and am having a hard time getting things done efficiently, which is not ideal when you have a mountain of grading to do. Trying to just take things step by step and not get too frustrated.

    6. GTKY: If you had to live in the 1700s, what convenience would you miss most? Oh for sure penicillin, dang
  • @wrensnest that is so rude! I can’t beliece the things people think is ok to say to a pregnant woman. Yeah like we want to hear how big we look when most of us feel huge as it is. Too bad you couldn’t say to her, so when are you due? Haha.
  • @wrensnest I somehow missed this when reading your post, that is outrageous. Never say things like that, people! Jeez.
  • 1. How far along are you? 21w4d

    2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)? Lots of heartburn, lots of SPD, insomnia

    3. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)? Meh. Some days, it's great. Other times, it's semi crippling. I know it will be like this until the baby is here and we know he's healthy. I realized I've been feeling really guilty about getting pregnant and I've been projecting on to DH about not being excited enough. Now that I've identified that and we've talked about it, I'm feeling like I am getting more excited and connecting more.

    4. Any appointment updates? I have a MW appointment next week.

    5. What's been happening in your life this week? Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here): Work work and work. I have to see my extended family this weekend and I'm dreading it. I've seen them more than usual since my grandpa died this spring - we're placing his headstone this weekend as his birthday was this week. This baby will be named after him and its important that I go, but I wish I could avoid all the drama that comes with my family.

    6. GTKY: If you had to live in the 1700s, what convenience would you miss most? Internet (I feel like this loops in electricity and the technology you access it on) - I grew up in a house with internet and a computer because of my dad's work, so it's always been a big part of my life.

  • OMG. I’m not going out in public for the rest of this pregnancy. Just got back from grocery shopping with DD1 and ANOTHER lady decided to offer her up her totally unsolicited  thoughts on how big I am. I quit.

@wrensnest WTF?? It boggles my mind that women are saying it, especially if they’ve been pregnant themselves at some point. It’s NEVER okay to comment on someone’s size or appearance, unless the person themselves instigated that conversation. How is that so hard to understand??

Also the “must be two in there” joke is just overused and trite. If it was ever funny at one point (it wasn’t), it definitely is not funny anymore. Not creative or clever in the slightest.

  • We should start a thread on here titled "Unsolicited Comments from Friends, Family, and Strangers" just to share the shit people say. Mine so far today (while out at the reference desk): A female student asked "How are you feeling? You look really pale" and a random man, pointing at my stomach, said "Looking good!" complete with a thumbs up. Fuck everyone.

That’s a great idea @hannahbananas11. I’ve been spared so far, not a single comment from strangers! It’s cold enough to wear a jacket here now though, and since all my jackets are oversized I don’t think my belly is obvious unless you know about it. Family and friends haven’t said anything bad either!

Any stranger who tries to touch my stomach will get my hand on their stomach immediately. Let’s see how that pans out.

  • @wrensnest I was patted down by a TSA agent last week that was 34 weeks pregnant, and smaller than I was 22 weeks.  The other agent there kept making comments about my size, asked me if I was *sure* I wasn't having twins.  I told her I grow em big, then said her daughter was tiny and had a 10 lb baby.  I was ready to punch her.
  • 1. How far along are you?

    21w 6d

    2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)?

    Tired. All the time.

    3. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)?

Not great. Had to go for second AS scan. Cord pressure is high (but technically normal). Baby is small (but technically normal). The high risk doc wants to pull me from my mw practice. For now they are content seeing me alternatively every week. This coming week I see the mw. The next week they want to do another US to check baby's growth. I have serious anxiety and trauma regarding US, so my partner goes with me every time. I can't speak or look at the screen. I completely disassociate once I get in the room.

    4. Any appointment updates?

    Every week from now on.

    5. What's been happening in your life this week? Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here):

I was interviewing a candidate for a position and at the end she, while reaching for my midsection, said "I *have* to touch your belly for luck."

Spoiler: Not lucky. Hard pass on the candidate.

    6. GTKY: If you had to live in the 1700s, what convenience would you miss most?

“My darling girl, when are you going to realize that being normal is not necessarily a virtue? It rather denotes a lack of courage." - Aunt Frances”
  • @wrensnest We need to curate a list of equally rude comebacks that will leave these folks wanting to never leave the house again.

  • 1. How far along are you?

    23 Weeks, almost 24

    2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)?

Fat, still managing my sciatic pain with exercise so it's not so bad. The heartburn sucks but I'm managing that ok too.

    3. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)?

    Anxiety is my middle name.

    4. Any appointment updates?

    Appointment Tuesday afternoon, can't wait!

    5. What's been happening in your life this week? Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here):

It's been a rollercoaster of a week, but to look at the bright side I had a good client meeting on Thursday, so I will run with that.

    6. GTKY: If you had to live in the 1700s, what convenience would you miss most

Feminine hygiene products, hair products and blow dryers(and electricity), deodorant, skin care products, I don't think I would have fared well in the 1700's haha
