Pupps.. And not the cute ones.

Anyone been diagnosed with PUPPS. That itchy uncontrollable neeve racking itch? I've had it for weeks now and it won't stop. At first an aloe lotion eased the itched. Then it quit working and i switched to an oatmeal based lotion. It is a very temporary relief. Doc told me yo use benadryl but it doesn't work either. The best relief i have found is an extremely hot shower, which i know isn't good, but it stops the itch. And of course the only cure is delivery and then it still can take a few weeks.
I'm dying here. Any suggestions?

  • Cortisone cream (I used prescription strength with my older son) but be careful it can thin the skin which can make stretch marks way worse. I also used oral antihistamines which helped some... hope you find something that works! it sucks!

  • Stretch marks are the least of my concerns. They can be hidden. Thanks for the advice. I'll try anything at this point
  • I had it with my first pregnancy, im sorry to tel you but the only true relief for me happened after I gave birth. For temporary relief I would sit with cold packs on my belly to soothe the itch, used corticosteroids prescribed by my doctor (a derm not an OB), colloidal oatmeal baths and making sure I wasn’t getting sweaty. When I got sweaty it got so much worse.

  • I'm so sorry!  I had it with my 2nd pregnancy but I was lucky that it didn't appear until the day I went into labor.  I itched for a few weeks before it showed up though. It sucks!

  • Had it horribly with my 1st.. i practically bathed myself in hydrocortisone, benedryl, calamine (if claimed to take the itch away i was slathering it on) hot showers were my only relief as well.. sometimes i would shower 3x per night cuz i couldnt stand it and certainly couldnt sleep! Ultimately i had my OB induce me at 39 weeks.. i couldnt take it anymore! Good luck!!!!!!!

I had PUPPP with my DS and it was MISERABLE. It started before third tri and I was literally up every 1-2 hours for 6-8 weeks to apply a different lotion or cream before I found something that worked for me. I even did two steroid packs and it helped a little, but not a lot. Hydrocortisone cream would give me 1-2 hours of relief which is not enough especially at night. What ended up working for me was claritin in the morning, zyrtec at night, and Lush dream cream (I also used the body wash, but I think the cream was the big helper). I hope you can find some relief!
