Alright, needing some spousal advice outside the arena of anilingus lol
DH goes on a bowling trip with his friends every year around March which (surprise!) is when baby is due. They're doing it at the end of April instead but aren't able to move it back any further due to scheduling issues with the rest of the group.
The trip is in Las Vegas and the bowling itself lasts one day. He said he is planning to go for 6 days/5 nights and I just about shot him. I told him maximum 4 days/nights. In addition to the new baby, we also have a two-year-old. He totally downplays how hard it will be to be taking care of a one-month-old and a toddler. I'm a STM obviously, and I feel like at one month old, things were still pretty hard with my first. Am I being unreasonable? Maybe I'm a bitch but I feel like it's nice he gets to go at all?
@lindseyb918 Yours is the third post today that has me saying “Holy S*%#!”
Yes, he is lucky he gets to go at all! Hell yes it’s going to be hard for you in his absence. 6 days/nights is waaaaay too long. You’re being generous with 4 days max. I’ve been to Vegas many times in my party/girlfriends/single days: 2-3 days is more than enough to get your fill of Vegas.
If he needs a break from the stress of newborn-baby-hood maybe he could do a shortened trip to Vegas and then another short trip a few months later when it’s not as hard for you to be on your own with both kiddos. Good luck!
@lindseyb918 he’s lucky you’re okay with him going at all. Are these trips normally a whole week? If not, then props to him for thinking he had kahunas to suggest a guys trip that long with two young kids at home. I think 4 Days in Vegas is more than enough time. My husband went 2/3 Days and he said anymore than that and you’re just asking for trouble.
We have two sleeping beauties in heaven. Jack gained his wings on 09/02/2016. Kali gained her wings on 07/28/2015. They will be forever missed.
I agree, 4 days in Vegas is more than enough time. I couldn't handle more than a weekend even before I had kids. Could you plan to have some of your family visit to help you out while he's gone?
When DD was 1 month old DH left for 2 weeks to go to some conference and look at a house we were buying (we moved cross country when she was 2 months old). At the end of that first week I was so sick of being touched and always having to be the one holding her, I was so relieved that my family was staying in town and was more than willing to take her for awhile.

Wow! Ditto what everyone is saying, that’s nuts. Out of curiosity how long are the other guys planning on staying? I would bet most of their SOs are saying no way as well

@lindseyb918 If you’re a bitch than I am too! If he’s looking for a specific reason, I would point out that there’s so much unknown in regards to childbirth and infancy. We all hope for an easy recovery, but who knows? I ended up with a c section and taking my daughter into the cardiologist at a month old. Postpartum depression can set in. A fourth degree year could mean that moving is difficult. Does he really want to commit to a week away in the light of all that could happen? The guys trip happens yearly, your child is an infant once.
Has anyone gotten their flu shot yet this year? I remember finding a place that took my insurance AND would give them to pregnant women was a pain in the ass last time. I can't remember if it was because I was still 1st trimester then though. I'm going to ask at my midwife appt today, but I really hope they administer them in office.
DD1: June '16 DD2: March ‘19 :::: Married since 2011 :::: USN Wife ::::
@meggyme - I’m going tomorrow. My cvs will do them no problem. You have tricare through, right? I don’t know if they accept that, but it says they accept most insurances. I have Aetna so it’s fairly easy to get covered.
@catlady2015 It's Tricare provided by Humana. Last time I remember some of them needed a doctor's note, so maybe I'll just have my midwife write one of those just in case.
DD1: June '16 DD2: March ‘19 :::: Married since 2011 :::: USN Wife ::::
@meggyme I haven't gotten one and don't think I'm going to. But I'm also the person that never gets them lol CVS got me in fast for a shot before and takes most insurances, so maybe worth a try. They probably have minute clinic info with insurance they take online.

Lol thank you @keikilove@sejica@bdesterhouse@meggyme@mamakate1616@mamaoftwomonkeys@gowenc for the feedback. Your comments cracked me up and made me feel better about sticking to my guns. We have a very supportive family so he thinks our parents can just come over and help the whole time, but it's still not the same. Like you said, I also worry about the unknown, like if baby is sick or isn't gaining weight or has a health condition and I'm home alone with them.
The other guys are staying that long but they're all divorced lol. I'm like, "Do you see a correlation here, buddy??"
@lindseyb918 I’m with everyone else on this one the unknown is way too big for me! In my honest opinion with my history in our marriage DH wouldn’t even dream to ask the question if he could go lol! I don’t think you are being unreasonable at all!!
I’m asking for one at my appt Monday. I need to make an appointment for my son’s. My husband is allergic to the main stuff in flu shots so he is unable to get one.
We have two sleeping beauties in heaven. Jack gained his wings on 09/02/2016. Kali gained her wings on 07/28/2015. They will be forever missed.
@lindseyb918 yeah that would be a flat out no from me. I’ve had a 2yo and a 1mo old at the same time and it’s still really hard. 2yo is still getting used to not being the center of attention and at 1 month a newborn needs so much attention and time. And sure, family can come help during the day but the nights were the worst for us. The 2yo would almost always wake up the same time as the baby and you can only do so much to soothe a toddler while feeding a newborn when you’re utterly exhausted in the middle of the night. If DH told me he was going on a trip like this I wouldn’t only stare daggers at him, I’d probably throw some at him too.
I went to a wedding last night. Ate too much food, danced all night and had a blast til 12 and didn’t get to bed til 1. Woke up at 11am today and I feel hungover. Clearly my old pregnant a** can’t hang out that late anymore staying home and laying low today.
@mschanandlerbong1214 I learned last pregnancy that a lot of my hangovers comes from just being tired. Even driving home late at night I feel a little drunk.

Trying to get a headstart on putting a registry together. We're doing a jungle/rainforest theme for the nursery. I'm learning that apparently a lot of people think lions and giraffes live in the jungle. Also... rinos? Who ever heard of a jungle rino?
I’m not sure if this is symptoms or randoms but these pregnancy dreams can go! I usually don’t dream/don’t remember my dreams so the fact that.i have a nightmare once a week and some nonsense the other nights is awful. Totes typing this as I’m wide awake at 3:15 because I had a dream someone died. Ugh!
@tfraz2016 oh no! The nightmares are the worst! We do have a dreams specific thread that I just hunted down (it got buried a few pages) because I had a particularly weird dream last night.
@mayoduck I thought I had commented on one previously but then couldn’t remember.
@lovesclimbing Oh no! That would definitely shake me up too. I rarely dream about baby/being pregnant. I did have one about spotting/bleeding, which I’ve had twice now in this pregnancy but he’s ok in there-I’m the one who’s bleeding. Then one where my husband couldn’t get off work to take me to the hospital so I delivered a 10# baby at home by myself. While I know women do that, I’m not sure I’m one of them! Haha
I've had several dreams about bleeding, but haven't had any of those in several weeks. Last night I did have a weird non-baby dream, though..
Dream: I went to the White House with my dog and I guess Obama was still president. Michelle Obama was there with her dog so the two dogs were playing together. My dog then darted down this long hallway filled with important people and historic president's bedrooms. I went chasing after her and she ended up in Abraham Lincoln's old bedroom and jumped on his historic bed. I freaked out, chased her out, but then the dogs ran outside. I went to go find them and found out my dog got hit by a car and was probably dead. I woke up basically in tears, then fell bad asleep, and the dream continued. My dog ended up being okay but was in a back brace.... Don't know where that one came from!
Edit: Needless to say, the pup got a lot of love this morning.
@mayoduck we are working on a forest/woodland theme. I wasn’t planning on a theme at all but then I couldn’t sleep last night, and now I have it all planned out! giraffes live in the woods too apparently.

@3rdtime_charmed Ha! Those things live everywhere apparently. I've seen a lot of cute forest themed things with foxes and owls and such. That's a cute theme too!
I'm trying not to go overboard with cutesy themed items and stick more to a common color palette but some items are just so darned cute!
@mayoduck Me too!! But I'm with you, if it's cute, I'll buy it...esp if a little blanket animal thing. MH tried making the room all about elephants, I gave him the grey and white color scheme instead lol

@mayoduck we are trying to stay away for the too cutesy or cartoon stuff too and have been happy to find plenty of options.
@sejica I loooove that!! Was it hand painted? I don’t have that kind of talent so we are going with decals.
My husband is a big time archery hunter and outdoorsman so he’s happy to help me with this theme and that’s been fun, I didn’t think he would be involved/helpful. So I’m glad we picked something he liked. And I still don’t know if I’m having boy/girl or boy/boy twins so I feel like it’s pretty gender neutral.

@3rdtime_charmed yes, I did this one solo, but last time my mom helped. She also helped with this LO's water themed nursery, which I'll post pics of once I take them aince we finished it today.
@sejica Wow, that looks fantastic! Yes, please share pics of the water theme when it's ready, I'd love to see! Thinking waaay down the line but for my 2nd child I'm thinking already of either an underwater or space theme.
@mayoduck we are doing a space theme for this little one. I am super excited about it and started planning it basically immediately after I had picked DD’s nursery theme. Crate & Kids has a couple cute space themed bedding pieces and I found several adorable mobiles on Etsy.
For those of you going woodland animal and wanting something a little unique compared to what’s available at the normal stores, “trafalgarssquare” on Etsy has truly beautiful illustrations and I can’t recommend them enough.
