RE Appointment

hi ladies

I introduced myself maybe 4-5 days ago. I went to the RE yesterday. During the discussion of everything he decided at first just to do pregesteone at the moment. Start a few days after O. Then we kept talking and he realized my cycles are 22-24 days long. I told him I O between 9-11 days. He is concerned my follicular phase is too short. He says he thinks I could be releasing too immature of eggs thus unable to properly get pregnant and stay pregnant. He then thought I should try 50 mg Clomid for days 3-7. This makes me nervous. He’s a very well respected RE in our area but the risk of multiples is scary to me. Anyone else with similar plan? Any thoughts.
Thanks

@applegirl19  That actually sounds like a really good plan! I took Clomid 3x and it didn’t get me a BFP but it did make my cycles look perfect. I think it’s worth a shot (: I know there’s a higher chance of multiples but it’s still a low percentage!

@applegirl19 that’s the typical first course of treatment for IF. Your follicle growth and numbers are closely monitored so if you produced too many follicles and were uncomfortable to do TI or IUI you could cancel the cycle.

The clomid does help you grow full follicles so I hope that’s your only issue since that’s the easiest treatment.

I only ever produced one follicle while on clomid but it’s certainly possible you grow more mature follicles. Be sure to ask questions at each of your ultrasound checks:

    how large is the follicle(s)?
what size will you let it get to before triggering for IUI or alerting for TI?
under what conditions would you cancel the cycle?

@northbeach13 they didn’t say anything about doing u/s I will call the office Monday to discuss. I’ve been reading and saw that others get them done. He told me the twin risk increases to 10% but the triplets etc was <1%

That seems odd. Even with timed intercourse, my RE would track growth and indicate when it was time to BD.

If if the RE is just going on “most women will O on CD14” that’s taking a very passive approach and you’re chances are reduced bc you could miss the right window.

If s/he doesn’t offer, I’d def ask. I just had to pay my copay any time I got an US. They usually check around CD10-14.

@northbeach3 he said to try TI starting at day 11 through CD 18. I am not super worried about missing the window TBH. I am more overwhelmed about Clomid in general.

I guess that sounds reasonable.  But if you have to go through multiple IUIs they should definitely be monitoring your follicles with US. Best of luck.
