  • Provided I don't go into labor on my own (I'm going to be trying every little "trick" within reason) we'll eventually schedule it for 12/6 (39w1d), it's not set in stone yet though.

  • As others have said, I’ll be trying all of the natural strategies once I hit 37 weeks, but if baby doesn’t arrive on his or her own, I’ll be having a RCS on December 28th At 39w4d (same as @mcgeeva).
  • @katy0990 I am hoping I don’t come early! But chances are I will but really love to has a non emergency c this time.

  • @mcgeeva I’m hoping to go between the 10th and the 20th, but after that I’d prefer to wait until the 28th. Hopefully baby gets the memo!
  • Waiting to hear mine they are gonna decide at one of my next growth scans I'm due on the 14th dec I'd love the 12th as it's my husband's birthday
  • Have to have rcs, hospital won't allow scheduling before 39 weeks. Nurse will call me mid Oct to schedule. Hoping for 12/17 (39w1d) but really hoping to go into labor on my own before then.
  • Got what I’m calling baby’s eviction date!  If he’s not here by Dec 3rd, he’s being kicked out by repeat c-section.  Of course, it’s very possible he self evicts earlier but good to know I won’t go past 39+4.  I am hoping he stays put until then to be honest, but first was 3.5 weeks early so I’m not holding my breath.
  • Yep! 39 weeks, scheduled for 11/27... at least I can enjoy thanksgiving!!!

  • Sorry it took so long to reply ladies. Thats so awesome tbat we can have more definite dates. That means we are getting close ladies. Onky down side. So much to do. So little time.
  • I’m wondering why induction dates are being set. I’m not familiar with the reasons—medical or otherwise.
  • @Erinka I'm Gestational Diabetic, I was told from the beginning that I wouldn't be allowed to go past 39 weeks. If any other issues arise they'll induce closer to 37-38 weeks, but so far still looking at 39 weeks.

  • @CecilB93 ok gotcha! Best of luck!
  • @Erinka I know if you’re having a repeat C section, my dr said she likes to schedule as close to 39 weeks as possible to avoid you going into labor beforehand.
  • @Erinka I'm going for a due date induction (at 40 weeks) because
    1) Going overdue sounds awful & avoidable
    2) Babe will be full term, so OB's cool with it
    3) My H has limited time off, so my scheduled induction maximizes his ability to help (we don't live near family, so we can't rely on them to help)
    4) If kid comes earlier that's fine, but I might have to hire a PP doula

  • I have a date at 39 and 2. It’s really for convenience of childcare. And by convenience I mean, I if I don’t deliver at 39,2 or 39,3 I’m going to beg babysitters for night help just in case. But I’ve had ds1 @39,1 and ds2 @39,3 (without true induction- did have membrane sweep). I don’t plan to have a big induction - so maybe cervical ripening at the most.
  • It was just brought up to me the possibility of induction this time around. My son came on his own last time at exactly 39 weeks. I've heard that inducing can cause more pain, do you guys think this is true? My BP went up at the beginning of the second trimester and has been borderline but I have had no other symptoms of preeclampsia so far.... I wouldn't mind being induced as it seems like we could plan things a little easier, just nervous of the unonown...
  • @selina1113 Pitocin contractions were definitely more intense than the natural ones that I had.
  • Yes! I'm hoping not to have pitocin this time around.  I've heard pitocin contractions feel 10x as strong as natural ones.
  • @selina1113 I have nothing else to compare it to, since I've only been in labor once, but I was induced and I wouldn't say it was very painful for me because I had an epidural fairly early on, but the big downside to induction for me is that it can be loooooong. My labor was 27 hours, but that was partially because I wasn't dilated at ALL (at 41+1) so it took a long time to get things going.

I'm hoping this babe comes on his own, unlike his big sister, but my OB won't let me go past 41+1, so I suppose my induction date is 12/12, but hoping it doesn't come to that this time!
  • @Erinka My first was over 9lbs and so far this one is also measuring big. My OB and I do not think going past 40 weeks is the best idea. She’s offered 39 weeks, but as of now I’m not taking her up on that. However, I will have my membranes swept at some point before that to hopefully get things going.

@selina1113 I don’t really have anything else to compare my contractions to - both times my water broke and I was not really having contractions, so I ended up with pitocin to get things going. Both times I got the epidural fairly early, but once I get that things seem to move quickly. With my twins I do remember being in some pretty great pain and my sister said she just kept watching the contractions go super high on the monitor. We got the nurses and had them turn off the pitocin off and it was push time. Then I got the great pleasure of having to wait for an empty OR room while all I wanted to do was push!  :s
  • Pitocin sounds awful! My son came on his own at 39 weeks, 4 hours of labor and I had no time for an epidural by the time I got to the hospital.  :o FX that things go easier for everyone this time around!
  • @Selina1313 It also depends on the dose. If I remember correctly, they start you out with two and then gradually bump you up in intervals of 2, as needed. Mine had to be bumped up to 16 (and I still wasn’t dilating) so it was extremely painful, but I know some women progress on a much lower dose. I’m assuming that since your body has successfully dialed before, you may not need as much to start progressing.
  • I'm the same as you @katy0990. I don't recall what they went up to, but it took a lot of pit to get going.

  • Thanks @katy0990 and @temmetime
That makes me feel a little better. Hopefully I can find out soon if it's something they will actually do this time so I can plan.
  • TW...
I lost a lost a little girl to SB at 32 weeks. I am a high risk pregnancy. I've been dilating and having contractions. Out little man continues to measure big. For our safety and our convenience doc is inducing at 38+1.
  • @AshleyGemini24 I’m so sorry for your loss.I hope you stop dilating and contracting soon.
  • I’m so sorry @AshleyGemini24. I hope they are able to get your contractions under control.

  • @AshleyGemini24 I am so sorry. You must be on edge, I hope things ease up and go well for you and your little munchkin
  • Having a rc-section, at 36 weeks due to cholestasis. Dr hasn't given me the official day/time 100% but he keeps mentioning 11/5, so probably that day.
  • Scheduled my RCS for 12/10. I'll be 39 weeks on Saturday the 8th, and insurance won't approve the date if it's before 39 weeks (I was hoping for 7th). I'm happy to have it scheduled with my 1st choice doctor!
