Symptoms w/o 9/18

I just took a 5 hr nap straight thru dinner and bed time. Exhaustion is hitting me hard, probably because so is insomnia.

Tell me where it hurts, ladies.

Re: Symptoms w/o 9/18

  • Major abdominal pain today. Had the same thing with dd curled up on the bathroom floor trying to work through it. I blame gas pains because it always seems to get better after using the bathroom but the pain can keep me down for an hr sometimes. I'm miserable...and at work which adds to it...

  • I'm sure this won't be my last time using this gif this pregnancy...

Thought my nausea was gone. Newp. Threw up a bit in my mouth while driving. Having some pain that feels like ovulation pain in the left side for some reason, and I have a headache from not getting sleep last night. First day back in the office today and it's gonna be a doozy. Picked myself up an iced tea from Starbs though so hopefully that helps.

  • I think I sprained my ankle while I napped. Whyyyyy are the ligaments hurting?

seriously, could this be pregnancy related in terms of my body getting my pelvis ready to birth?

Joints and ligaments are absolutely loosening up! I stood up for a baseball game at like 7 weeks and my hip hurt for days!

  • @lyse01, it's totally a thing.  Your body is producing more of the hormone relaxin or something like that, causing everything to become looser and slippery.  I've hyperextended my knee really badly both pregnancies so far, even this early.  I've also noticed random twinges and pains when spotting kids that I wouldn't normally have.  Yay, changing hormones!

As for me, daily migraines, exhaustion that is constant but some days better than others (today it feels like a 3... I can function and even feel like doing dishes, but some days it's a 10 and I don't even want to get out of bed), digestion issues, nausea that comes and goes in intensity, lower back/hip pain...

Second trimester can come anytime now.

  • Ugh @kangstadt the migraines are terrible. I've only had two so far this pregnancy but they are totally debilitating.

  • I threw up this morning from gargling mouthwash. I am so with you @kangstadt; second tri can come anytime now!

Tired, nauseous, cranky, and just generally feel like absolute crap. Can't get enough sleep, constantly peeing, gas, constipation, all of it. I'm sure my thyroid acting up isn't helping either but at least the meds are starting to get that back under control. Racing heart rate and palpitations on top of everything else has not been fun.

I'm sure every FTM says this, but how on earth do you second/third/fourth/+++ do this more than once?! I feel like I'm falling apart!

  • I'm so sorry for you ladies! We're growing every so close to the end of the first trimester.

My nausea ebbs and flows. Exhaustion is ever-present, but I am not sure that will change given I'm older and have a 6yo and 3yo to chase... My boobs are ENORMOUS.

  • Intense fatigue. I can probably fall asleep anywhere, anytime at this point. Irritability, but not so much towards DH and loved ones. More towards everyone else in the world. Bizarre dreams, and aches and pains. Nothing that isn’t manageable at this point, though I reeeeally wish I could sleep more.
  • @sdelg09, I think I had my first taste of irrational irritability last night at work.  I just could not deal with my boss and his inane comments and lack of straight answers.

Oh yeah, usually I shower every other day... now I feel like I need a shower daily because my hair is so freaking oily!  I have fine textured hair to begin with that is prone to oil, but this is nuts.  I feel like a giant grease trap.  People have asked me if I've gotten a haircut just because of the lack of volume lately... ugh.

  • I came seriously close to throwing up in the car after dropping my kids at dayhome.  Whatever she was cooking for breakfast smelled terrible to me!!!!  Yuck!

  • Nausea is still there in the afternoon and evenings.

Yesterday I ate six pickles and then had diarrhea for 3 hours. So karma came fast and hard. I'm eyeing the few pickles I have left and wondering if it's worth it.

Grand total of weight loss: 7 pounds. My OB is not going to be happy.

Actually, I'm such a sicko that when I was pregnant last time I was so damned elated that even though I felt like death warmed over I was like "this is terrible, but I'll totally do it again 2 more times because it's SO worth it!".  Now that I'm trying to pull this off with a baby at home I'm wondering if maybe 2 kids is enough because I am not sure how I am going to make it out of the first trimester alive this time.

Feeling extra terrible this morning, which sucks because I have one million things on my to do list.  Hopefully I can choke back the urge to vomit prior to the call I'm supposed to be on in less than 15 minutes.

  • @mrstmoose oh no! Pickles have been an almost constant yes for me - I'm sorry they've betrayed you.

I feel you on the weight loss. I read somewhere I should gain 24lbs by 24 weeks and currently I'm halfway through week 10 and down 5. I'm really hoping to get clarity from my OB next appointment because gaining like, 30lbs in 14 weeks sounds impossible at this point.

  • @MRDCle I have a feeling that a lot of us will start easily gaining in the second trimester, or once we all feel better. It's hard to force yourself to eat when all it does is make you feel sick or nauseous!
  • @MRDCle @kangstadt wishful thinking that relaxin would only affect joints in the general vicinity of the uterus... loose ligaments in my ankles will put a huge damper on my get out and walk plans.
  • @lyse01, yep, I had to be careful not to roll my ankles last pregnancy also.  Pregnancy hormones suck, lol.

  • I know that losing weight probably isn't the best, but is it bad for me to say I wish I was doing that rather than what I'm doing? I feel like a damn WHALE. I don't have a scale at home, but I'd be surprised if I haven't gained at least 5 pounds. I'm a little worried about what I'll "become" later on in this pregnancy! I'm just so damn hungry ALL THE TIME. I've started to get a little more energy, so I worked out last night which damn near killed me. And it just added to my hunger. But of course, chicken and a salad sounds terrible. Pass me the pizza and french fries! It's weird that I've got more energy because I've thrown up a couple times which didn't happen in earlier weeks. WTF.
  • @rennie1108 remember that you absolutely cannot go by how clothes are fitting to know if you’re gaining weight during pregnancy. I have not gained an ounce yet and all my pants don’t fit comfortably.
  • @lyse01 I have a bad rotator cuff (from 14 years of competitive swimming) and during pregnancy my shoulder likes to pop out place. Relaxin is so much fun

Week 11 and the nausea seems to be better. Although nothing tastes good or makes me gag. I did eat  like 10 pieces of bacon yesterday. Migraines have been bad. I feel like I have to take Tylenol almost everyday. And the exhaustion is unbearable now. I have to nap everyday when DS naps (if he doesn’t skip it). Even if I sleep I still feel like a zombie. I’m really hoping for that second trimester energy

Good point! Does everyone have a scale, or do you think it's ok to go without one?
  • @rennie1108 you'll be weighed at each doctor's appointment so I don't think owning one is necessary unless your doctor mentions something about monitoring your weight more closely. Even then I doubt they would have you doing it at home.

  • @rennie1108 oh my gosh yes I am constantly starving!! I try to snack throughout the day but I always feel like my stomach is completely empty!!! I gained 60lbs during my last pregnancy and I definitely don't want that to happen again this time but I am starting to worry!  Although I have only gained 2 or 3lbs to date this pregnancy.
  • @blueberrymomma that shoulder popping out sounds like so much fun...not. Is it relatively easy to pop back in?

I think I just need to find one of my half-dozen elastic ankle braces, three air casts, two boots, or four pairs of crutches and I’ll be fine :p clearly Tylenol won’t do a thing.
  • @lyse01 yes I’m pretty used to it so I can pop it back. Everyonce in awhile I need my Chiro to do it. It mainly happens when I sleeps on it but since it’s my left one and I sleep on my left it’s probably going to happen more
An ankle brace would probly help stabilize your ankle.
  • 10 weeks and I woke up yesterday with TMJ, wtf! I have never had TMJ before normally or with any of my pregnancies. Chewing was really difficult yesterday. I wanted to cry! It seems to be better today but it was so weird.

Also I had osteitis pubis (inflammation of the pubic bone joint) after having my last baby. It took 6 months of physical therapy to correct. I am just now starting to feel the beginning twinges of pain. I'm hoping that working through the exercises on my own will be enough to help stabilize the joint otherwise it will be back to PT for me.

  • Exhausted and so bloated!! And terribly constipated!! 😖💩
  • @rennie1108 I don’t own a scale, and didn’t with my last pregnancy either. I really struggled to gain weight last time because of constant nausea, but owning a scale wouldn’t have changed things, it would have just added to my anxiety. I’d agree that there’s no reason to get a scale unless your doc specifically tells you to.

9.5 weeks here and my biggest symptom is still serious exhaustion. Some gas and bloating, but nothing too terrible. All in all, I feel like my last pregnancy was soooo much worse. I’ve actually been slightly nervous at my relatively minor symptoms. Which I know is stupid.
  • Nausea in the afternoon and evenings. Constant hunger so packing on some pounds. *Shrug*

I've become quite the slut bag in my dreams. Go me!
  • @rennie1108 I dont have a scale at home either and my midwives dont follow weight too closely according to my appointment Monday. I would say dont worry about it.

  • Has anyone had high blood pressure or preeclampsia their previous pregnancy? My blood pressure was fine both pregnancy’s till the end when it kinda sky rocketed and I had to deliver early. So this time around my doc put me on a low dose aspirin regimen till I deliver. It suppose to help prevent high blood from happen and also help with preeclampsia as well. Has anyone had experienced this? Taking aspirin, side effects liked or not like etc?

  • @kangstadt Yes to irrational irritability! For some reason, I can no longer stand the sound of people consuming food at work, especially slurpy, lip-smacking sounds. Ack. Stop eating at your desk right next to me!

@rennie1108 My OB gave me a scale and a home blood pressure machine that hook up to an app on my phone with Bluetooth and beams to my patient records! (It was totally optional.) I think it's kinda cool, definitely not necessary like @MRDCle @professormama @angelob88 said, just something new my office is trying out to see if it helps patients. I personally like knowing in advance if I'm going to get chewed out by my OB at my next weigh-in :#, but I can see how that's not for everyone.

@eli_belle I had brand-new TMJ earlier in my pregnancy, too! It went away completely for me. I think I got mine from constantly retching and yawning all the damn time, which had me opening my mouth really wide. As soon as I started forcing myself to not open my mouth so wide when I yawn, the TMJ cleared up. I hope yours clears up because it hurts to eat! And that's the last thing we need right now.

I feel for everyone on the nausea front. I'm still having issues with it, but I'm having more good days than bad now (12w2d today). The only exception is that I used to scrape my tongue when I brushed my teeth, and I now have to skip that step... It causes immediate vomiting. I hope I'm on the up and up from here, and that you all start feeling better soon, too.
  • @mamabear1010 I had severe pre-e last pregnancy. I had a pre-conception appointment with a MFM and between her and my OB I’m starting my baby aspirin regimen at 12 weeks. I’ll also have to monitor my BP at home in the second half of my pregnancy. I read today that twin pregnancy have higher chances of pre-e too so I’ll be discussing that with my OB at my next appointment.

Whoa nelly, morning sickness struck this morning! Cheese smell is making me sick, I’ve actually puked, and tea and oatmeal are not helping yet.

eta: every smell is making me sick. I can’t walk through the kitchen without a heavy wave of nausea.
  • My nausea seems to be getting worse each week. Walking through the grocery store last night was pure torture. Food aversions still going strong. Also still contant heartburn, I am going to birth a monkey. Pretty gassy these days as well.

Also boob soreness and they are so damn itchy. I think I actually scratched of a layer of skin off in my sleep last night.

And of course the exhaustion. And my bad knee is acting up from the relaxin. 2nd tri cannot come soon enough.
    this is my backup acct.

  • Another migraine last night so I feel even more garbage-y today. The smell from DH's coffee today actually made me puke on the way out the door which made my residual headache even worse. Plus everyone at work is being a dumb shit so I really just wanna put in my headphones and not speak to anyone for the rest of the day.

  • Everything I eat makes my stomach hurt. Like horrible gas pains. Doesnt matter what I eat. But if I dont eat i throw up. So basically no matter what i have some sort of stomach ailment. And I think it was @kangstadt who mentioned it, but the amount of grease in my hair after a day is out of control. I look like I dont give two shits about personal hygiene. Ugh.
