@bdesterhouse they cancelled the evac Friday or Saturday but we drove back Sunday. We were home by about 4, which wasn’t too bad. DD slept like a rock last night, as did I. 6am came way too fast today.
As for work, I had asked about stuff to work on from home, but unfortunately my supervisor didn’t have anything this week. I was able to take it as unpaid leave instead of using all the vacation time I had allotted to go home to CA with. It still sucks, but at least it sucks now and not during Christmas.
No damage and honestly I’m pretty pissed because it feels like the city called for our area to evacuate just to look like they were doing something, while everything went on as usual. It makes me not want to be so quick to evacuate the next time which isn’t really a good response either.

@meggyme glad you're all ok! I was two weeks post partum with DD2 when Irma hit and it ended up being a total non-event for us, so I know EXACTLY how you're feeling about the evacuation thing!
@meggyme glad to hear you guys are home safe. I have a friend in Topsail who can’t even get home because all the major roads are closed and her road has a sink hole. I’m glad it’s not as bad where you are though.
DS2 is so sick today. Poor baby has a fever that won’t quit. Waiting for his pedi to open back up from lunch. Only back to school a few days and already the germs are taking over
@mschanandlerbong1214 I just posted about this on my week update but DS was diagnosed with an ear infection today. Hope your little one got some answers and gets to feeling better soon!
@meggyme So glad you are safe and didn't have any damage.

It keeps logging me out and then yesterday when I went to sign in it just brought me to newly pregnant articles. It was super frustrating, so if I’m MIA for a few hours that’s why lol.
We have two sleeping beauties in heaven. Jack gained his wings on 09/02/2016. Kali gained her wings on 07/28/2015. They will be forever missed.
@meggyme I’m sorry, that totally stinks! @indigoheightsblog It’s really not a big deal but I was so mad when I realized that none of the times they have available my husband can come to
@mamaoftwomonkeys That would annoy me too. I try to plan all of my appointments on school holidays or after school so I don’t have to use my sick days.
Everything is completely fine, but I just got a call from my stepmother (DD's babysitter) that she LOCKED herself in the car this morning while playing with the keys. She managed to do this in the time it took my stepmom to walk from the passenger's door to the driver's. Even though the car is not supposed to lock with the keys inside, that safety feature failed. 10 minutes, a police officer, and a firetruck later, she was out. Apparently Grandma was upset, but DD just told all of the nice men "Hi" repeatedly and shook her keys proudly at them the whole time.
@swanbrooner i’m glad she’s ok. I’m sure your stepmother was pretty shaken up. Something recently happened to a friend of mine. She had the car remote start with her daughter inside and apparently after 10 minutes the car shuts off and locks. It locked with her kid and keys inside! Luckily she was home and able to get the spare.

I don’t see a recent Why My Pregnant Self is Crying thread so I am throwing it here. They just did a piece on the news of the guy who proposed to his girlfriend at the Emmy’s last night. With his mother’s wedding ring. Two weeks after his mother passed away. I lost it!
@meggyme I don’t feel like I’ve been too emotional either, but it was a bad day and the dam just broke when I watched it. I will stay away from the Mary Poppins trailer...at least for today!
Ha I know the feeling. I was finally able to make S.O.S, for those that don’t know what it is, it’s abbreviation stands for shit on a shingle, which is ground hamburger or sausage depending on your families preference in a white gravy over toast. Some families put mashed potatoes on top of the toast. It’s so good and easy to make. One of my childhood favorites.

@bdesterhouse - too funny in my family SOS is a dried beef gravy over toast or "cream dried beef" @indigoheightsblog - it was WELL worth the wait that's for sure!
Had an appointment yesterday, found out that they are considering me “high risk” because I had a placental abruption during my first pregnancy, so I’m advised to not exercise too much. It was very hard for me to hear because I used to be a runner (ran a half in April and had been doing 5ks in first tri.). They said I can walk and do low impact exercise without weights, but that doesn’t even feel like exercise to me.
I really dont want want to get put on bed rest though, so I am going to try and take it easy/not overdo it, especially in 3rd tri.
Its so good. I’d never heard of it with mashed potatoes till my husband told me last night. I wish he had spoke up before it was done bc I had potatoes I could have made real quick. Our 7 year old even liked it.

@JScamelipardalis ugh! Being on a weight restriction would feel really awful to me, so I understand your worries! That and bedrest, would be a huge problem.
My husband and I operate a hobby farm in addition to our day jobs. Last night I field dressed a deer, it’s not uncommon for me to haul 40# feed sacks. If feel like a caged animal if I can’t be outside.

In my family SOS is usually leftover turkey or beef roast with corresponding graving over toast. It’s delicious!!
@JScamelipardalis ugh that sucks so bad. Our doctor has me on modified bed rest and weight restrictions for whatever reason. I didn’t think our loss history would merit this but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ trying to “take it easy” is really difficult with 2 crazy little boys and a puppy.
@mschanandlerbong1214 day after thanksgiving my dad makes hot turkey sandwiches which are essentially the same thing that my husband grew up having just with turkey.
@meggyme as kids my brother and I would always try getting away with saying shit so we’d ask for that for dinner. Lol.

Off topic of food. I need to vent. I analyze appraisals. I’m finding if I have a question on one thing my team lead or supervisor go left field and ask if I looked into xyz issue in the appraisal instead of just answering my question. Half the time I hadn’t even gotten to the area of the appraisal they are questioning. I’m so incredibly frustrated today by this. Some questions shouldn’t take 20 mins to answer

@bdesterhouse I feel your pain! I work for a luxury home builder and get the same kind of thing. I asked a question this morning and it's 2pm with no answer. So will look like a ding-dong when the buyer comes in shortly.

I have never heard of SOS before. Sounds kind of similar to sloppy joes. That's browned ground beef mixed with some sort of tomatoey sauce or sometimes barbecue sauce and served on bread.
Ugh, so achy today again. *sigh*
Also, we're looking for a rental for when we get back to our permanent location, and in so tired of moving and renting. I want our own house, but I don't know when that will happen. I am really hoping that we will find a place we can rent for several years and not have to keep moving.
DH ran to get a a few things at the store today and I asked for ice cream cream (my sweet tooth is out of cream control lately). He came home with pralines and cream... I almost cried - where are my moose tracks or Reese ice cream? (Apparently I’m feeling ungrateful today)
