On July 30th, we went in for our anatomy scan and there were a few concerns found during the scan.
1. He is smaller than he should bae
2. He had limited amniotic fluid
3. He has a 2 vessel cord.
4. He could have a heart defect
5. He could have a chromosomal disorder
Since that day, we were referred to many different specialists across Florida where we were able to get more answers.
1. Yes he is smaller than he should be, but he is growing.
2. Although the fluid is limited, he went from 2cm to 6cm to 10cm and is still trending up.
3. He has 1 artery and 1 vein going to and from me compared to the normal 2 arteries and 1 vein. This could be a factor in his size.
4. He may have a hole in heart called VSD and his aorta may be more centered. We saw a fetal pediatric cardiologist where she confirmed that his aorta is normal in size, shape, location.. she cannot confirm the VSD but did say that if there is a hole in his heart, she will perform surgery at 4 months old to fix it.
5. We've had an amniocentesis (testing for chromosome disorders) which came back normal and then an additional microarray scan to double check the amniocentesis results as the doctors wanted to be sure.
On Friday, we had an appointment with the specialist where at the end of the appointment, I mentioned some swelling in my legs. The doctor was concerned since there should not be that much swelling with his size and this early in the pregnancy. She took my blood pressure which was 188/96 and I was sent down to Labor and Delivery for observation. I was diagnosed with Preeclampsia with the blood pressure, swelling, and protein in my urine. I had not eaten for 36 hours and fluids were administered through an IV. I was truly bed bound in all matters. I was given a shots of a steroids to help keep his lungs open if I ended up delivering early. Yesterday morning at 8am, I took a turn for the worse and by 8:15am, the doctor informed me that we would be delivering that morning.
My baby boy who was due December 8th, 2018 was born September 12th, 2018 at 11:40am. He weighed 1 pound 7 ounces at birth and was 15 inches long. He is in the NICU- stable and doing "baby things" and I can't wait to go see him. He was born at 27 weeks and 4 days.
Thank you ladies for all of your support. I hope everyone else's pregnancies are smooth and easy. I'll be around if anyone goes through something similar because it is scary to say the least.
Re: Goodbye (very long read)
But please don't feel the need to leave. You are still part of this community and we are all here to support you. It's very possible that we will have some other early preemies, my own included.

Congratulations on your son and I hope he continues to grow and thrive. Your family iis lol be in my thoughts!
What an ordeal you went through and all so quickly. You must have a lot going on right now, but I hope you’re able to stick around here and check in when you can.
I have a friend whose son was born very early (25 weeks) and she still is in close touch with other moms whose babies were in the NICU at the same time. I hope you’re able to find a community (in addition to us!) like that where you are.
