How are your other kids doing this week? He's good! So cute and frustrating at this age lol. Loving it. He doesn't quite understand that there's a baby growing, but he says "big brother" and genuinely seems excited when he says it. He also already gives my stomach hugs and kisses

GTKY: What was the best compliment you’ve received? It's not related to motherhood, but it was recent so I will use this example: Having one of my employees tell me I am the best boss they've ever had. I have worked so hard over the last 5 years to be a good manager and it makes me SO happy to know I am making a difference in a positive way for them.

How many kids do you already have? Ages? 1, DD is 12 1/2 months
How are your other kids doing this week? DD has 4 teeth coming in so it's touch and go. She's in that adorable, drunk-toddler-I-just-learned-to-walk stage which we are loving. She STTN Friday but was tough to get down and woke up once the past two nights. If teething is going to take this long, I think we need to do something about her sleep despite the pain.
Rants/Raves? Concerns/Questions? I mentioned this in another thread but did anyone have bad RLP last time? Related rant: Mine started at 8 weeks with DD and is already starting with this pregnancy. I had to wear a support belt to walk more than a mile last time. Apparently it comes on earlier and is worse the second time around. at 39w+4 I went to the hospital with pain that was either a small kidney stone or bad RLP (could have been either as the kidney stone was realllly small on the ultrasound so my OB leaned towards RLP). If it was RLP and this time is going to be worse, I am in for some serious trouble.
GTKY: What was the best compliment you’ve received? While I look young (thanks, freckles!), I frequently get told that I'm very mature for my age.

How are your other kids doing this week? We took the front rail off of LO's crib over the weekend and he has only fallen out twice! Last night he slept through the night without falling out!
Rants/Raves? Concerns/Questions? I'm worried that I'm having twins because my mom had twins with her second pregnancy. I can't talk to her about it either because we aren't telling anybody yet, and by the time we announce at LO's birthday party, I'll have already been to the doctor and hopefully learn there is only one in there...
GTKY: What was the best compliment you’ve received? Recently, the best compliment I've gotten is that I should get a raise at work due to the extra work I've been doing because of a coworker being inconsistently out of the office with a a medical issue.

How are your other kids doing this week? Really good, hes at such a fun age, he’s a whirlwind and never stops! It’s so fun seeing him learn new things. He’s also decided that he likes using the big boy potty, so this should be interesting.

How many kids do you already have? Ages? I have one DS that just turned 2 in August
How are your other kids doing this week? So far so good! It’s cooled off by us, so we’ve been going to the park a lot. He does have speech therapy and a food therapy sessions this week, so I’m hoping both of those go well! This age has been really fun. We paint and color almost every day.

GTKY: What was the best compliment you’ve received? I had a family friend tell me how proud my mom would be of how I am handling motherhood. *TW* My Mom passed away from breast cancer when DS was only 6 months old so I always wonder what advice she would give me. *end TW*
@kvh22 We're in the drunk walking phase too..it's hilarious. She's so proud of herself - she'll just randomly start clapping as she's walking down the hall, like "DO YOU SEE THIS?!" I'm sorry you're already having RLP..that is rough. Is there any safe medication you can take this time around to combat the pain?
@b@breweber2010 That's exciting about the big boy bed! How did you decide to transition from the crib/remove the rail?
How far along are you? How big is baby? 5+4 today. Baby is the size of an Appleseed, if I remember correctly.
How many kids do you already have? Ages? 1 DD who is 14 months.
How are your other kids doing this week? She's doing great. Really starting to get the hang of walking, which is exciting. Homegirl also LOVES food. I feel like she'd eat an adult sized portion if I'd let her. I think the 1 nap transition may be around the corner...she keeps refusing her second nap and then sleeping later in the morning.
Rants/Raves? Concerns/Questions? I barely had any symptoms my last pregnancy, so this early nausea really blows. I remember one girl in my last BMB (@kvh22 you might remember this too) who got sick daily well into the 2nd trimester...maybe even 3rd?? Fingers crossed this subsides soon. No concerns at the moment, but looking forward to my first U/S on October 3rd.
GTKY: What was the best compliment you’ve received? I don't know if this is the best, but one that comes to mind. My Dad and I do the music for weddings at a church in our town. He plays the piano/sings and I play the violin. We had a few weddings this summer, and each bride emailed us after the wedding was over saying how the music totally made their day/made the ceremony perfect/all the guests couldn't stop talking about how beautiful it was. It was nice to hear that our music had an impact on such an important day!

How are your other kids doing this week? Both kids are great! DS2 just started preschool today and did wonderful. While he was at school I volunteered in DS1's class which went really well!
Rants/Raves? Concerns/Questions? I wish I could tell my kiddos that I'm pregnant but I dont know if my 6 year old could keep it quiet! I'm sure my 3 year old won't really get it/ care until I'm showing.
GTKY: What was the best compliment you’ve received? Well, it wasn't a verbal compliment but I entered a photo in a local fair and won Best in show! I was so surprised bc I am very much an amateur. I got a lot of FB compliments for it

Wish I could have the energy to potty train this early but I just can’t. Daycare does some potty training but I don’t follow up at home.

oh boy let’s see... not sure if I can think of anything haha. If this is not baby related, I’d say: that I’m smart?? Lol. I’m in nursing school and at 33 years old one of the oldies. Guess the youngins think I’m smart? Sorry that was lame. I’m exhausted, just had two exams and I’m a zombie dealing with a toddler too.

How are your other kids doing this week? She's great. She's so ornery lol. She's testing lots of boundaries. She brought home a cold (which I came down with 2 days after BFP so cue freak out), and we're still recovering from that. To force her to rest we laid in my bed and watched lots of movies all day for the past few days so now she wakes up saying "watch a movie! Watch a MOVIE!" Oops. She's into Cars 3 (because it's on netflix) and Lilo and Stitch right now.
Rants/Raves? Concerns/Questions? Are your early pregnancy symptoms similar or different to your previous pregnancy/ies so far?
I still don't really have many symptoms, which I guess is how my pregnancy with DD started out, but the no symptoms thing is always concerning.
GTKY: What was the best compliment you’ve received? Hmmm... I don't know if I've ever really gotten any outstanding compliments. People we saw at other people's weddings years later made a point to tell us the food at our wedding was the best they'd ever had and my dress was so gorgeous. It's nice that those things stood out for people since those were things that were important to us at our wedding!
@zuuls_mom aww that's adorable! I'm too superstitious to talk to DD about the pregnancy yet. I think we're probably going to wait until after the A/S.
@kvh22 I'm already getting RLP when I get up after sitting or laying down for a while, but I didn't need a support belt last time.
@breweber2010 are you having any symptoms that would indicate twins? When is your first scan?
@aels12 are you potty training already? We're going to do it when we get back from the big wedding trips at the end of October. I'm kind of really nervous.
@DressageDarling what's your set up for daily painting? I hate mess, but I feel like I need to do more crafty things with DD.

How are your other kids doing this week? DD was throwing a fit every time we tried to get her to nap/sleep (pulling herself to standing and screaming), but I think she may have been overtired. We just moved, so it was a big transition - BUT the last few days she has napped and slept in her crib with very few issues! Fingers crossed that is over. She's in the middle of a leap, and may have more teeth coming in, so it was rough. Also, she mastered "mamamamama" and has moved on to "dadada" and "bababababa" with the occasional raspberry to punctuate it. So cute.
Rants/Raves? Concerns/Questions? I guess when we can expect DD to start taking up trying to walk again. She was really into it, but now she just wants to stand and bounce.
GTKY: What was the best compliment you’ve received? Such a good question! When I was in college someone read an essay I wrote and told me I inspired them. I thought that was the nicest thing ever.

@poshspice Thanks! I'm feeling it when getting up from sitting, too. For some reason, lots of walking/running bothered me in addition. Hate that you're feeling it but glad I'm not alone. As far as symptoms compared to last time, I actually read that most women (at least report that they) feel less nauseous in future pregnancies so I'm hopeful it won't be as bad - but, if you had morning sickness last time, you'll likely have some this time. I didn't get much in the way of symptoms until 6 weeks last time aside from being tired which is holding true for this time for now.
@mrsdee15 DD started taking a step here and there at 11 1/2 months, then putting it together at 12 months when encouraged (3-4 steps and then falling/jumping into your arms) and now can drunkenly walk across the room (sometimes) at 12 1/2 months. I've heard some kids go from nothing to almost running like *that* and others progress more slowly. DD is a super fast crawler so she'll get frustrated with how long it's taking to get where she's going, slowly sit down, and then speed crawl, instead.
@secicc12 Thank you for that! It is nice to hear that others waited to walk as well, it seems like there's such a huge range for "normal" and I feel like that doesn't really get mentioned with milestones.

How many kids do you already have? Ages? one daughter - she is 9 months
How are your other kids doing this week? Pretty good. She's healthy, happy, and sleeps through the night so I can't ask for more. But, we're trying to increase her finger foods right now and it's not going great. She only ate half of what I packed for daycare yesterday so I'm worried she's not eating enough. I know we're still learning but this is just our latest obstacle. To be continued.
Rants/Raves? Concerns/Questions? I recently put on a little bit of weight (or maybe bloat?) right in my stomach area. It happened really quickly in the weeks before I got pregnant. I like to think my hormones are just a mess and it was something related to that, because otherwise my lifestyle is pretty healthy. It's been pretty discouraging but then once I found out I was pregnant, I was kind of relieved that I was going to be growing in that area anyway. I'm pretty excited to have a big pregnant belly again.
GTKY: What was the best compliment you’ve received? Many people will check out my instagram or snapchat story or whatever and see that our baby comes with us to most places (restaurants/bars, overnight trips, parties - all within reasonable hours of course) and we've received a ton of compliments about how cool that is and about how people want to be parents just like us. I love that!

Super busy. DS1 started preschool a few weeks ago and I taught his Sunday School this week and noticed a huge difference in ability to focus. Super proud of him. DS2 is talking quite well and nonstop. But he is pushing and hitting more and was spitting at daycare today

Nothing specific, but always great when someone comments on my boys’ behavior and abilities.
Also, at work (I’m a RN) when a patient is super appreciative and sweet.
How many kids do you already have? Ages? This is my third time on this crazy train. I have two DDs, ages 5.5 and 2.5
How are your other kids doing this week? DD1 just started soccer, and she is historically very shy, but it just so happened a new friend from her kindergarten class is also on her soccer team, so she ran right out there and was excited to play.

All y'all who are voluntarily having another child while your current child is in the 1.5 age range are seriously amazing! For both my kids, that was the most challenging/frustrating age so far.
GTKY: What was the best compliment you’ve received? Somebody told me I reminded them of Daria once when I was in high school. He didn't mean it as a compliment, but I'm still here for it.

How far along are you? How big is baby? I'm supposedly 3 weeks 3 days. My OB was very surprised that I got a positive that early. So she ordered bloodwork. We'll see what that says.
How many kids do you already have? Ages? I have one daughter 19 mos.
How are your other kids doing this week? She's doing great! I'm kind of in shock though. Today, I walked away literally for 5 seconds and she was on top of the dining table! Supposedly, she's been doing that with my MIL when I'm at work but that was the first time I witnessed it and I almost had a heart attack! I don't know how to baby proof a dining table!

GTKY: What was the best compliment you’ve received? When I was pregnant with my daughter, family members would tell me that they hope she's as beautiful as I am. This was a shock because these people never before told me I was pretty. Unless they were dissing me? LOL. I don't know.

How are your other kids doing this week? Ok... DD1 started kindy last week and was a complete mess over the weekend, but we're back to routine this week and things are going well. DD2 started the week with a fever, but seems to have swung back to herself today. I often feel like we're muddling through, but they always seem to come out ok.
Rants/Raves? Concerns/Questions? A rave - I am so happy to be back at work. I work at a public school and was off work for the summer. I am the first to admit I am not a natural stay-at-home mom and by the end of the summer I was going a little crazy. I feel so good being back at work, reading stories to kids and putting books in their hands.
GTKY: What was the best compliment you’ve received? We were living with my parents this summer while we renovate and my mom told me was amazed by my patience with the girls, especially when DD1 is melting down. I've heard this before and I always love to hear it. While I don't feel like being a stay-at-home mom is good for ME, I do think I'm still pretty good at being their mom and have worked hard to develop my patience with them.

How are your other kids doing this week? He’s a ball of energy, but unfortunately we’ve been stuck inside most of the week because of the rain. We’ve been trying to keep busy with indoor activities, but it’s just not the same as getting outside. Tmrw we will go to a mommy+baby group thing so hopefully that will help us both!

I once had a college professor describe one of my essays as “insightful yet whimsical” and I got a kick out of that. Couldn’t tell you what the essay was about now, though!

How are your other kids doing this week? She is doing great, she started pre-school yesterday and did really well but there is a bit of backslide with her potty training she had 3 accidents so I am hoping it was just the transition to a bigger school.
Rants/Raves? Concerns/Questions? I don't think so, I had an IUI to get pregnant and have not called my OB yet because my specialist is seeing me through until 8 weeks I am thinking I should stil call my OB and get some appointments ready even though I am being watched by the reproductive specialist.
GTKY: What was the best compliment you’ve received? I have been told I am really good at what I do (I am a counselor) it always feels good to know that you are making a difference in people's lives.

How are your other kids doing this week? Pretty good. We started a new preschool for DD last week. We were off for a few days with the Jewish holidays, so she just went back today. She's crying at dropoff which is terrible and makes me feel like a bad mom, but I know she will love it here when she adjusts. She recovers quickly and is so happy when I pick her up, but it makes that working mom guilt so.real.
Rants/Raves? Concerns/Questions? None really. About to go up to NYC for a work trip tomorrow, I hate to admit but I need a break so it's well-timed. I do have to hide this pregnancy still since it's so early, we have a work happy hour tomorrow night so I'm trying to figure out my approach. Hold a drink in my hand and just never drink it? Order something that COULD be a drink like a seltzer with lime? Or is that a dead giveaway? What would you all do?
GTKY: What was the best compliment you’ve received? I always appreciate when my mom or MIL compliments me about how I handle all the aspects of our hectic life - being a mom, a full time employee, running a household, etc. I always feel like I am failing at least one or two aspects of my life, so it's nice to hear positivity from ladies who did it well.
I know for myself with my first pregnancy I was able to go to the gym and yoga classes at least 3-4 times a week, I just don't see that happening this time around being busy with DD. Also last time I completely eliminated Coffee/Tea and any form of caffeine from my diet, so far now I am drinking 1 cup of coffee daily
Anyone else doing things differently at all, I'd love to hear!
