Today is H’s 30th birthday! I was going to have a party for him, but he said he would rather do something fun as a family. We had planned on going to the zoo, but it is supposed to monsoon all weekend. So far, COSI and Legoland are closed, so it’s back to the drawing board!
we have a wedding tonight, and my mom is coming over to watch DD. It’s chilly here today, a high of 63, which is exciting. But should warm up again to high 70s later this week.
@katy0990 I'm sure you will find something fun! @Jens_Hoes it's cool here too and I'm living. For. It.
Afm, it's another low key weekend (!!) I'm currently sitting on my couch with coffee and a blanket enjoying the cool day. I think the weekend is going to consist of yoga, reading, napping, and I better get my dang banana pancakes!
DD seems to officially be going through the 18 month sleep regression. Joy. She was up between 1:30ish to 4am last night intermittently screaming and throwing her binky out of the crib. DH wanted to bring her in the living room and I said absolutely not because I refuse to sleep train for a third time when this is over. I also caught whatever little cold she had (not a bad one just enough to be annoying) and we have a wedding to go to tonight. I just want to sleeeeep. Maybe this belongs in bitchfest...
@rosebud332 good luck with the regression. We did sleep training with DD at 3 months and again at 10 when we all got into so bad habits and I am dreading sleep training with the new baby. I actually have Construction headphones that blocks out the sound that I use because it hurts my soul. Hang in there.
My DD is almost 3 and she has been having issues since DH went to Mexico for five nights. New bed time 10pm (doesn’t matter that our routine starts at 7:45) and then up multiple times to makes sure mommy and daddy are still close by. It’s sad but still so annoying.
@rosebud332 I'm sorry your DD isn't sleeping too well. Hopefully she will get back into a good sleep schedule before the baby arrives. Also, being even a little sick sucks during pregnancy. Hope you feel better soon!
Don't have much going on this weekend. Last weekend, I was determined to get something in our apartment organized (since one of my goals before baby is to get the apartment cleaned and organized so it will make it feel less stressful.. I hope) and I got the closet in our bedroom done. It may not sound like much, but I felt accomplished for actually doing it and making it look much better. This weekend, I'm going to try it again, but focus just on the kitchen. So many drawers just have things thrown in there (curse my laziness of not putting things away neatly right after using them).
Also, something competely random. My husband finally got to feel the baby kick the other day, and I couldn't help but laugh at his reaction. He was so creeped out, lol!
@rosebud332 Sleep regressions are so hard! Hope this one is brief!
AFM, the name of the game is REST. I worked almost 12 hours every day this week with no rest or down time and I am feeling it. Hoping for naps, DD snuggles, some writing, to fix my phone screen (which has been cracked badly for months) and that's it!
Laid back weekend here too. We turned down an invite to a wedding in NH this weekend and I'm so glad we did. So far I've just been doing stuff around the apartment. I have a lot of reading to do for school, which I plan to start soon. Later, my brother and SIL are coming to stay over tonight with their 6 week old baby. It'll be nice to see them -- though we don't have much space (just one bedroom) so we'll get a taste of life with an infant tonight.
@rosebud332 I hope things get better and your little one can get back into a sleep routone! FX for you!
AFM, I feel like I'm so out of the loop this week! Since classes started up again, it's been so hard to keep up with TB. But today I'm doing some much-needed catching up, so, hello everyone!
I also spent the morning gardening bc today is the first time in like a month when I've had time to do stuff and it isn't unbearably hot/humid outside! I seriously feel like I spent the whole month of August hibernating in the AC!

Over here I made some pumpkin pancakes and went on a walk this morning, so, successful for the most part. This afternoon will be errands as soon as the Bub wakes up — Sam’s, maybe Target, and the library. Another solo parent day because H is doing more revisions on his dissertation. Arghh! Turn it in and be done already!!

I am at work today. It’s a class that gives me CEUs. H took ds1 to his first soccer game. Ds made the first goal for his team. He had so much fun and told me about it when I called on break. I’m so happy for him. I think I get out of class in ~30 minutes! Yay!
Add me to the list of resting ladies this weekend DH and I went to an Airshow for a little bit, but Alabama is hawt and we didn’t take chairs/umbrellas etc. By the time we got home I felt like a beached whale, but my baby dog needed the snuggles (in spoiler)
So here’s Mike, trying to get kicked in the head

No plans this weekend, which is awesome because I've spent the past two weekends traveling (including an ill fated flight home, just me and the Nugget, on Labor Day with delays for sick passenger and weather, a loooooong holding pattern, a diversion to Indianapolis, waiting for a new crew, and then sitting on the tarmac for an extra hour plus after we landed because there were no open gates). It feels good to be home and in sweatpants.
Came downstairs this morning to find husband and Nugget watching Coco together... I only saw the last half and was pretty distracted for it, but STILL it gave me a case of the sobs. My husband had open heart surgery (massive aortic root aneurysm, all fixed now, but it was scary at the time) when our first was six months old, and he was mugged last weekend while she and I were out of town. It feels like we've cheated death a couple times recently, and let's just say the whole theme about needing to be remembered (and then the ending!!!)... Suffice it to say he definitely got a very wet, snotty hug and a reminder that she's only two years old so if he could just cool it with the tempting fate until or kids are a little older, that'd be preferable.
@whitneyb89 my SO recently felt baby for the first time too! He was resting his head on my belly and she gave him a good kick to the noggin! He didn't believe me that it was her and was also very weirded out by it. He thinks the whole idea of another creature growing inside me is very Alien-esque.
@mag1cbeli3ver hello there! Good luck with classes. Glad you enjoyed some outdoor time in the garden today. I've been hibernating indoors for the last month as well. Safer to stay cool. My sister was rushed to the hospital last month while pregnant because of heat exhaustion and contractions. No thanks, I'll take my AC.
Mostly relaxing here too. This morning was full of unpacking, organizing, and shredding lots of old documents (4 boxes worth!!!) We are actually making headway with the garage, which I thought would be a never ending project. I'm excited to maybe be able to actually park my car in there once winter arrives. This afternoon I took advantage of the cool weather and ventured outside for a walk. Then did laundry, cooked our favorite multicultural dinner, and sat my butt on the couch (after indulging in 3 candy bars! Yikes!). Tomorrow will be cleaning the house and then visiting my parents, sister and BIL, and nieces I can't wait to see the littles!
Yay for those of you able to relax today and boo for anyone having to do anything work related. So sorry for those dealing with sleep regression
AFM, met my friend at the gym, had lunch, took our kids to the trampoline park for nearly 3 hours, came home and putzed around the nursery to see how we wanna hang stuff. Tomorrow we are helping my mom moves out the last but if stuff from. Her house. My dad passed away last January and my mom ended up building a house near me and she's closing on her old house Wednesday. It's bittersweet because that's where my dad lived for so long, but I'm mostly thrilled about her proximity to us!
Also, today was one of those unicorn parenting days and my 3 year old has been so darn sweet and adorable. This is what fools you into having multiple kids

Today was busy but fun. DD started swim lessons at a new place near us, and it went really well. We hosted a bunch of family for a birthday celebration. It’s great having my parents here. Tomorrow I want to take a walk, organize all the baby clothes I just got back from my sister, and maybe put in a little time on the computer for work while DD has some quality grandparent time.
@texas_t hahaha yes to sweet toddlers making us all want more kids. Mine was the opposite today though, everything was "no!" and he peed in his car seat...
This morning DH took some pics of me modeling a maternity shirt I made. I was testing the sewing pattern for the company/lady that drafted it so I had to take final pics to show how it fits. It was super fun and exciting for me to finally get to test a pattern! We met the ILs for lunch today, then came home for naps (I took a bath). I convinced DH to rent the first Harry Potter on Amazon video, so we watched that tonight. I haven't seen the movies in YEARS! Tomorrow we'll have to go grocery shopping and hopefully get a tire replaced on the truck I drive, it's BAD. Then CHIEFS FOOTBALL in the afternoon!! WOO!!!
@scaredunprepared That is great that you are making good progress on your garage. I wish my H didn’t have so many tools, so I could park in ours! @texas_t I’m sorry about your dad, but glad your mom was able to move closer. @CecilB93 Car seat pee is the worst part of potty training!
@CecilB93 So jealous of your sewing skills! But that's awesome that you got to test a pattern! How did the shirt turn out? And hooray for football Sunday!

I'm making my grocery list for the week, and I am SO EXCITED to be able to cook warm foods. It's still going to be in the 70s, but that is fine with me! I'm making Mac and cheese tonight and chili tomorrow. Oh yeah. Might be a smiiiiiiidgeeee to early for spaghetti squash, but the time is coming, my friends.
@mag1cbeli3ver thank you! it turned out great! I made a tester for fit purposes out of a jersey bedsheet before making a final in my nicer fabric, and honestly the bed sheet shirt will be worn for lounging, it's so comfy lol.
@morgantu you only eat spaghetti squash when it's cold? Just curious about why. I guess I get that it's not in season all the time, but our store carries it year round.
@CecilB93 yep, I just try to stick with things that are relatively in season. Plus I shop a lot at our farmer's market for produce, so they don't have them yet.
Posting and ghosting. I feel like poop and DD has a low grade fever. Hopefully she’s feeling like having a laid back day. Hope everyone enjoys their Sunday.
@LLynde5 We were going to go to the children’s museum in Cincinnati, but Ds woke up on the wrong side of the bed and spent the first hour of the day getting in trouble, so we scrapped that plan and just relaxed at home. He hasn’t had a weekend where he hasn’t worked OT or on projects at home, so it was nice to just be low key. Then, we went to church and out for Mexican with my FIL. It was nice! Unfortunately, it is supposed to rain here until tomorrow evening @Jens_Hoes I hope both you and your DD feel better!
We’ve had a busy weekend here. DH left for a couple weeks today, just in time for me to have to hurricane prep at almost 7 months pregnant with 3 boys runnin amok. Send help. And good vibes that we don’t get hit! I can handle a lot of things, but no air condition with hot humid conditions is NOT one of those things right now!
@katy0990 Happy bday to your hubby man!! Hope you guys had a fun weekend/day!
@Jens_Hoes and @m@morgantu Where the heck are you in this world where it's cool and magical? I'm so jealous, it's just a humid gross hot mess here still and I feel like it's never going to get cool. @p@PensiveCrayon pumpkin pancakes? Nom! I just made these pumpkin spice muffins that pinterest showed me. It was a box of spice cake and a can of pumpkin... so easy! Now I want all the pumpkin things. @texas_t I'm so sorry about your dad, but it's great your mom is going to be so close, and right before the baby comes! How special!!
