@vetgirl2011 @optimisticmrsk how are stims going for you ladies? I've been super tired this time around. I took a 90 min "nap" yesterday.

  • @bakerstreetboys I might test at home but I'm not sure yet. You must be relieved to have done so well despite your initial predictions. Wishing you the best in your 2ww!

  • @Avrilmai it hasn't been too bad for me ! a few mild cramps here and there, soreness in my abdomen because of the injections and definitely started to feel bloated. Also a little back pain but not sure if its from working out last week or just life after 30 lol What other symptoms are you experiencing besides feeling tired?
  • @optimisticmrsk nothing too bad, just yet, I know more is to come. right now i'm just dealing with some bruises. I have 5 injections a day so I have a few spots. Last time toward the end of stimming I definitely had issues with sitting up straight because of the follicles. I'm glad to hear that things aren't too bad. FX it stays that way. Remind me what day of stims are you? when is your next appointment?

We had our transfer today! Yay!

All 5 made it to blast. Though one was more mature than the rest. We transferred 2. The most mature and the 2nd best one.

They say they are going to grow the remaining 3 for a couple more days and then freeze them.

It was a good but challenging morning. I'd told several people during my visits that I'd wanted the "embryo glue" that they offer,  but found out that a note was never made and it's a solution that must be prepared the night before. My DH can be very protective of me at times and he was not happy about the oversight. They assured me that it won't affect the outcome.

I also found out that I was supposed to start the Endomitrine a few days ago and with all the other medications, I missed it. I'm so mad at myself. They reassured that it will be ok. I've taken everything else and theybsaid it should be ok because my natural hormone levels have always been spot on. So I just took it and I'm trying not stress about it.

Fingers crossed for everyone! Hope you ladies are all well.
  • @jazziep Yay for being PUPO!  I'm never heard of "embryo glue"!  Try not to stress over what you can't change. I'm sure it's fine that you didn't start the Endomitrine if your numbers are already good.  I hate that stuff.  You're two days behind me... I hope you can avoid symptom spotting better than I do!
  • @Avrilmai I am on day 5 of stims. I was a little nauseous for the first two days, but I feel really good now. I think a 90 minute nap sounds great! Sorry about the bruising!

@optimisticmrsk I had my monitoring appointment this morning. So far I have 6 follicles. They are increasing my doses a little and rechecking again on Sunday. Have you had a monitoring appointment yet?
  • Hi, I just started my first IVF cycle last Saturday. I have my retrevial on 10/17. I don't quite know what to expect.
  • @vetgirl2011 yay for no symptoms and for 6 follies! FX, for a good monitoring on Sunday.

I also had my monitoring today at Day 5 of stims , my biggest follicle is already 16mm ! I have a couple 14s, 12s, 10s. I think I have like 7-8 follicles that are measuring on track. And a few others like 5- 6 that are too small and they don’t think will catch up. The tech said she also saw 1 empty follicle/cyst on each ovary but didn’t seem too concerned. They are keeping me on the same dosage ( Gonal F, Menopur and Cetrotide) and coming back tomorrow for another monitoring. Also my estradiol is through the roof !! 1002 which I looked up and it’s super high for Day5 but I think is due to that lead follicle at 16mm. I’m a little nervous at this point bc I don’t know what to expect with those results but I’m trying to keep calm and see if hopefully tomorrow’s monitoring will bring more answers. Has anyone has experience with high estradiol or developing empty follicles (cysts) from stims?
  • Hi everyone!! I went back in today and looks like everything is on track   My other follicles keep growing and they're keeping me on the same dosages. They said probably just 1-2 more days of injections left !! They said not to worry about the empty follicles. Getting excited to know when they will be doing my ER!!
@Avrilmai  and @vetgirl2011 how are your monitoring apps going?
Happy Friday to all you ladies and wishing everyone is having good cycles!
  • @optimisticmrsk I’m so happy that everything is going well for you! I have a cyst that they found this month, too. It sounds like you should have your ER at the beginning of next week! So exciting! My next visit is Sunday, then once a day until I trigger.
  • @optimisticmrsk thanks for the wonderful update! Happy to hear you are progressing well!
  • @knottie36f16188e7784095 welcome! Feel free to share and ask any questions.
  • Hi ladies! We just started our stims last Tues. went for monitoring yesterday and only four were growing and one looked dominant. Therefore, they’ve upped my Gonal F to 450. Back for monitoring tomorrow and hoping to see some good growth. Tentative ER for 10/22. Happy to be in a place where many of you are experiencing the same things as me right now. Hoping for the best for all of us!
  • @char245 welcome. I officially started stims last Tuesday too.

@optimisticmrsk glad to hear things are going well for you. So far so good for me. Exciting that you may have a retrieval date soon.

@vetgirl2011 hope things go well tomorrow!

@knottie36f16188e7784095 welcome. You may want to head over to the knot and change your user name to something more unique so that we can keep up with you. There are tons of knotties123xyz. You may have to log out and back in again to get the change to show. GL to you on your IVF journey.

  • Hey @char245 !  Happy to see that you made it over here :)  Good luck with tomorrow's monitoring!
  • Hi all,
Im hoping someone may be able to give me some advice. I am supposed to do an IVF this month. I have DOR and my amh is .2. My e2 around day 3 usually hovers around 100. My FSH usually 16-17. My cycles have bene normal at 29 days.

I was supposed to start an IVF in sept cycle but I had a residual cyst from an IUI done in august with gonal-f. And bc of the cyst my e2 was 660. I did acupuncture and herbs to get rid of the cyst and lower my e2. 19 days later I got another period which is odd for me. My E2 was so low at 14 and my FSH went up to 45. Seems the herbs got my e2 excessively down in 19 days, and the cyst was gone. However, my FSH went up really high and my LH has been surging since my september period so almost a month now of daily positive OPKs which is also abnormal for me.

Long story short we started the gonal-f and menopur at the start of my october cycle and i only stimmed four days so far but no change whatsoever. I am concerned this month was a bad month to start. Short 19 day cycle, oddly low e2, high FSH, and LH surging for weeks. I know my amh is very low and time is of the essence, but I also do not want to waste an IVF attempt.

however, I am not sure if these things I mentioned would make a difference in the end and if I should keep trying to stim instead of trying to wait until next cycle. Just seems as though the herbs, cyst, etc sent my body off track. Also with a 19 day cycle my body may not be ready to rush to grow follicles. So confused. Anyone that has any experience with this..i would appreciate any advice, thanks in advance.
  • I started lupron last week and am on cetrotide all of this week. I was really anxoius about the shots but I'm doing well so far.  It's only been a little over a week but it seems so much longer.  I have been having some hot flashes.  I have been isolating myself more and my mood has been more up and down.   I start Gonal F, Menopur, Omnitrope, E2V the week of 10/22 with expected egg retrieval between 11/2-4.  I am still really overwhelmed by everything and am just trying to take it one day/step at a time. I am still in shock at times that this is my new reality.  Six months ago I could have never imagined this is where I would be today.  Our Dr has said the odds are not in favor of success and that I have only this cycle to try. It feels like a lot of pressure knowing this is my only chance and it's hard to be positive.  Despite that, I have been having brief flashes of hope recently that this could actually work. I haven't felt much positivity since finding out there were issues in June so it's good when the hope comes.  I can't imagine having the strength of some of you who have been on this journey for so much longer.

@vetgirl2011 and @optimisticmrsk congratulations on your progress on your stims! This is great news! ❤

@char245 sounds like your clinic is on top of your meds. I will keep you in my thoughts.

@ah80 Big hug to you. Hot flashes are very common with a lot of the hormones/stim medications. I know what you mean about not expecting to be here. My husband and I both have large extended families with no fertility challenges on either side so I feel like we were caught off guard (which is silly but true). I didn't think we would ever do IVF... cost, etc. But when you learn that there is a medical condition, whether it be male, female, or a LONG journey of unexplained infertility, and the only way you will get pregnant is through IVF, you start to reevaluate. For us, we have a male infertility factor, and because we were short sighted about that, we tried for years without success... which means I'm now of AMA. We tried IUI for a couple months but my clinician sat me down after our last failed IUI and had a heart to heart with us about our likelihood of IUI being EXTREMELY slim with my DHs results.

Many of our family members are also VERY close minded about fertility treatments so only a couple even know what we're going through. We've endured a slew of comments about "being past our primes," about being selfish because they think we don't have children because we don't want them, and even being told that "God sometimes doesn't give people children for a reason."

Here's what I've learned... none of that noise from people matters. None of it. What matters is my husband and my journey together. OUR hope for a family. I've come to truly believe that the best people are those that have been kind even without knowing what we're going through. And those that make hurtful comments are battling their own demons unrelated to me.

Don't be too hard on yourself for losing hope at times. This is an extremely HARD journey, then we're all put on medications that play with our moods. My husband likes to joke that it's the perfect social experiment... put a couple under a high stress situation THEN pump one full of mood altering hormones. His sense of humor and the ladies on this board have kept me sane.

I will be sending prayers your way and lots of love for a positive outcome.
  • @ah80 I'm glad to hear that you're feeling some hope.  It is definitely an emotional rollercoaster that you can't imagine unless you're going through it.  Lots of women have beat the odds, and hopefully you'll be one of them!

@optimisticmrsk So exciting that you're almost there!  Hopefully the next couple of days go by quickly for you!
@vanessa_lynne How are you holding up?

    ***TW
Today is 5dp5dt for me and I POAS with a FRER.  It was a positive, and not the trigger because it was darker than yesterday's FRER.  I'm in shock and also so nervous after three losses.  Blood test isn't even until October 22!
  • @bakerstreetboys OMG! OMG! OMG! Prayers for you and lots of positivity your way 😍🤞😍🤞
  • @bakerstreetboys ahhhh that’s such wonderful news!!! I will keep sending positive thoughts your way!!!
  • Hi, I just started my first IVF cycle last Saturday. I have my retrevial on 10/17. I don't quite know what to expect.
My egg retrieval is tentatively scheduled for 10/17 also. Glad to have a cycle buddy!

Has anyone ever had a ton of ewcm during stims? I’m on day 8 and I’ve been noticing a lot of it and I’m worried I’ll ovulate on my own before they can do the retrieval. I think I’m looking for some peace of mind that this is normal.
  • @smittyswifey I definitely had more in the couple of days leading up to my retrieval :)
  • Hey @bakerstreetboys! I'm holding up well. 5 days until my blood test. I would POAS but I'm kinda nervous. Are you doing it daily?
  • @bakerstreetboys sooo exciting!!!!

@smittyswifey I’m on day 8 and have tons of ewcm, too. I am on cetrotide to keep from ovulating. Are you on meds for that?

@Avrilmai  and @optimisticmrsk How are stims going? Have you been back for monitoring again? Hope you are doing well!!

I went in this morning for another ultrasound. I have 6 follicles on track (13-16mm), one that might catch up, and several that are really small (5-8mm). They are thinking the middle to end of the week for ER! I’m excited and nervous at the same time.

  • Thank you everyone for your sweet comments :) and welcome to everyone just joining in. Looking forward to following your journeys.

@bakerstreetboys congrats on your BFP !!! Such great news, sending you the best vibes for only positive news going forward and a happy, healthy pregnancy :)

@vetgirl2011 that’s good news on your follicle progress !! FX for a smooth retrieval. When is your next appt ?

@vanessa lynne your beta test is almost here !! Sending all the good vibes and prayers your way.

@jazziep so sorry that you’ve had to deal with some insensitive family members, but you’re so right that most of the time people’s comments reflect their own fears. Glad to see you’re in a good place and have a great support system and strong relationship with your DH. Wishing you best of luck this cycle !!

@Avrilmai how are you doing ? Have you had any more monitoring appointments?

AFM, I had my trigger shot last night for an ER tomorrow morning !!! Aghhh so excited I can barely think of anything else. Also, received news from my Dr. that we might be able to do a fresh transfer !! ( before starting the cycle she told me because of my hormone levels she was expecting to do an FET ) so in my mind I was going to wait until the next cycle to do a transfer ! It’s still not set in stone but the fact that there’s a possibility that we might transfer a fresh embryo makes me super hopeful and happy. As for the trigger shot I’ve had mild nausea and just a bit of cramping. But overall feeling good. Wishing everyone has a great week and that we keep getting positive news !!

@optimisticmrsk Good luck tomorrow!  That's so great that she's thinking you may get to do a fresh transfer.  Either way, I hope you get lots of fertilized embryos!

@vanessa_lynne You're getting there!  I started testing out trigger a few days after transfer (used cheapies), and then used my first FRER yesterday.  Didn't quite believe it because I thought the more sensitive test may still be picking up the trigger, but it was darker today so I'm finally starting to believe it!
  • Hey @jazziep I'm an embryologist and our clinic uses "the glue" as well. Vitrolife (the company that makes it) claims it improves implantation only slightly (~5% I believe). However our clinic has done their own study and found no difference in implantation. It sounds like your clinic agrees with this, so no worries!

Culture media needs to equilibrate overnight to get to the proper pH. It's able to do this because it has a buffer inside that gets within the needed pH range in the presence of CO2 in the incubator. The magic of science!
I am Embryoman - your friendly neighborhood embryologist!
    **Removed for TOU violation**
  • @vetgirl2011 that’s awesome that you have so many follicles on track!! Hope your ER goes well!!

AFM I seem to have a dominant follicle :( it’s 16mm and the next closest is 11mm. They keep upping my doses in hopes that we can at least get two but not sure that’s gonna happen. I’ll go in again tomorrow morning and we should know more at that point. Just trying to stay positive but being realistic at the same time.
  • @char245 I hope you get good news tomorrow.  We were told that we only had two on our second round, and that the others wouldn't have a chance to catch up. We used a dual trigger shot this time (didn't use it the first time around), and ended up with four mature eggs.  I really believe that it made a huge difference in helping the other little guys to catch up.
  • @optimisticmrsk best of luck tomorrow! Very excited for you!

@vetgirl2011 sounds like everything is progressing well! ER is coming up quickly!

@ah80 the IVF/IF process can be very overwhelming and an emotional rollercoaster no doubt. You are doing great so far with your injections by the sound of it, and whether or not it's your only chance, it is a chance. Wishing you all the best through this process.
  • @bakerstreetboys I'll probably give a test a shot later this week. I'm so happy you got a good result!
  • @bakerstreetboys good to know! I’ll ask about that, thanks!
  • @bakerstreetboys wonderful news! I'm excited for you!
@optimisticmrsk GL with you ER!!!! that is so exciting and great that you may have the option for a fresh transfer!
@vetgirl2011 6-7 and a few more that might catch up! that is great news. wishing you so much success with your ER.
    @char245 I hope today's appointment brought/brings good news
    @jazziep beautifully said.
@ah80 this whole process and infertility itself can be so overwhelming. Have you considered seeing a therapist? I've found it incredibly helpful. I don't know your whole story, but if you work you may want to see if your benefits include an employee assistance program. Often times an EAP will allow a few visits free of charge. it may be something to look into.

AFM, had another monitoring appointment this morning. There were some measurable follies and luckily no one dominant one. I'm waiting for the call about my blood work and will probably go back Wednesday. Did get the official numbers yet, but the nurse said it looked like there was a 13, 12 and 2 11s.  I've had a pretty consistent headache for about a week, but I'll deal with it if it means a good end result.

  • @embryoman thank you for the explanation and putting my mind at ease!

My clinic did follow up bloodwork today and feel my thyroid is running a little slow. This has me nervous... probably because I was hoping feeling tired more hungry was a more positive sign. I've never had a slow thyroid and my levels were always perfect during our IUIs. They're adding yet another medication to my already long list. ;) lol

Hoping this is a minor blip.

@Avrilmai the stims gave me a fairly constant headache too. I hope you get some relief l. Great news on your follicles!
  • Only 3 days away from beta, but had to try a HPT - BFN. Hanging in there. Will try again Friday morning before beta. I thought I was gonna be 'tough' through this 2ww (which is actually only 11 days for me) but I am growing impatient...  :#
  • @avrilmai I never got headaches from the stims, but did experience my first migraine, with aura and arm numbness and tingling while on BCP. You are so close to being done with the stims. Sounds like you're progressing well. :) Hang in there.
