Re: Monday/Tuesday ticker change (9/3 and 9/4)

  • 1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby? 31 weeks; size of asparagus

    2. How are you feeling? Pregnancy wise, I feel good. Tired, but I think that is normal. My heartburn seems to come and go. Some days it is terrible and other days I don't notice it at all.

    3. Any appointments this week? Just chiropractor

    4. Rants/raves/questions? Baby has apparently flipped breach per my chiropractor. She said there isn't a need to worry yet because I still have a decent amount of space, but that I do need to start doing exercises to help move baby back down. Apparently 30 to 34 weeks is the ideal time to get baby flipped for good. I've never had this issue, so am hoping baby finds his/her way back down asap.

    5. GTKY: Would you describe yourself as an extrovert on introvert? I actually feel like a pretty good mix of each. My natural preference is to stay home and be with family, but once I actually go somewhere, I'm extroverted. Even though I feel like I'm super awkward, I also find myself being the one to try and keep conversation going when in group settings.

  • @wannaflickone Heartburn is no fun!  Omeprazole has been my best friend.

    1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby? 28wks.  He's the size of an eggplant.

    2. How are you feeling?  Overall ok, but definitely feeling stuffed.  I also can tell I am getting a little more tired than I had been before.

    3. Any appointments this week?  Thursday with my OB.

    4. Rants/raves/questions?  Trying to enjoy the journey, but I'm ready for this little guy to get here.

    5. GTKY: Would you describe yourself as an extrovert on introvert?  Definitely an extrovert.

  • 1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby? 28 weeks - Butternut Squash

    2. How are you feeling? Much better now that I started an iron supplement

    3. Any appointments this week? Yes, Thursday

    4. Rants/raves/questions? Nope

    5. GTKY: Would you describe yourself as an extrovert on introvert? I always thought of myself as an introvert but no one else seemed to. After thinking back i guess I am an extrovert.
  • 1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby? 28 weeks, eggplant

    2. How are you feeling? Besides being over this 90+ degree heat and being a little tired, I'm still feeling great!

    3. Any appointments this week? 3 appointments... hematologist, pediatrician and capping the week off with a 3 hour GTT on Friday. Yay! ;)

    4. Rants/raves/questions? N/A

    5. GTKY: Would you describe yourself as an extrovert on introvert? I think I'm an extroverted introvert if there is such a thing? I really value my quiet time and time spent at home but when put in a social situation I can be the life of a party, although it exhausts me.
  • 1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby? 28 Weeks, a bowling pin, eggplant, or a nintendo, depending upon your source ;-)

    2. How are you feeling? At the moment, tired. And full.

    3. Any appointments this week? 3 Hour GTT on Thursday, round 2!

    4. Rants/raves/questions? Not really.

    5. GTKY: Would you describe yourself as an extrovert on introvert? I'm an extrovert, although it seems that whenever I'm pregnant I get a little introverted. People are exhausting when you're trying to keep up with growing a human and raising a couple of other humans.
  • 1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby? 29 weeks; acorn squash

    2. How are you feeling? Good, just the typical things like more tired than usual and basic aches and pains. BH are driving me absolutely insane though.

    3. Any appointments this week?  Two, Wednesday and Friday. Wednesday is a prenatal appt with the pediatrician we will likely be using for baby. Friday is usual OB appt with an ultrasound.

    4. Rants/raves/questions? I’m strangely nervous for the pediatrician appt? I don’t know what to expect or what questions ask. I don’t like being unprepared. I am excited for the ultrasound though. Can’t wait to see if LO is still measuring as far ahead as s/he did at the anatomy scan. Definitely going to be asking more about the BH because I feel like I am getting them too often. I literally get at least one every time I get up and move, even the little trips to the bathroom. If I’m up and moving for any length of time I get multiple and sometimes there’s as little as 30-45 seconds between them. I just don’t know what’s normal.

    5. GTKY: Would you describe yourself as an extrovert on introvert?
I would call myself an introvert. I’m not a fan of being at big parties or crowded places and I am the worsttttt at small talk or holding a conversation about nothing in particular. I have a very small circle of close friends and I’m okay with that.

  • @wannaflickone definitely can commiserate with the heartburn! Started taking zantac and that seems to help.

@ginny_203 I'm so over the heat too! Summer needs to be over in my opinion. I'm headed to a conference in DC and plan on hiding in the hotel most of the week!

@rosebud1230 I hope your appointments go well. I understand the feeling unprepared part, but hopefully they are used to those kinds of appointments and can take the lead.

    1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby?
30 weeks, baby is the size of a zucchini

    2. How are you feeling?
Definitely starting to feel huge and like baby is taking up a lot of space. I get full pretty fast and plenty of heartburn. Sleep is a constant struggle with middle of the night bathroom trips. Baby has been super active though so loving that!

    3. Any appointments this week?
    None.

    4. Rants/raves/questions?
I'm starting to be able to feel the baby on the outside more now and it's the weirdest thing! There was a big hard spot under my rib today that was either a butt or a head. It was a really cool feeling and I had a moment where I could really start to get an idea of baby's size (which also freaked me out!).

    5. GTKY: Would you describe yourself as an extrovert on introvert?
Definitely an introvert, though I've had to adjust to be more extroverted for work. I often lead workshops, meetings, meet with partners, etc. but those days definitely take a lot more out of me.

  • 1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby?
31 weeks! Size of a bundle of asparagus

    2. How are you feeling? Better than I thought. My diaphragm hurts a lot, I’m peeing a lot, and my feet are swelling but I’m on day three of compression socks to bed, they work a little. Other than that I can’t complain. All normal preggo ailments!

    3. Any appointments this week?
    Thursday.
    4. Rants/raves/questions?
I got a new job!!!! I was commuting over an hour and now I’m 5 minutes from home. They are totally cool with the baby coming and are so accommodating. I’m so excited. No rants. Questions- I’m going to confirm with the doc on Thursday but I’m getting mixed reviews on compression socks while sleeping pregnant.
    5. GTKY: Would you describe yourself as an extrovert on introvert?
    extrovert all the way!

    1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby?
    28 eggplant

    2. How are you feeling?
Ok. Tired. Also it’s my first week being diagnosed with GD so I also feel like it’s consumed me a little bit.

    3. Any appointments this week?
Just with the nutritionist to go over logs

    4. Rants/raves/questions?
GD is so frustrating. I finally got a day where all 4 of my numbers were great. I repeated the same meals and snacks the next day, and my 1 of my blood draws (morning fast) was 19points higher then the previous day, which put me out of the acceptable range. I don’t get it. I think my problem is that I’m trying too hard to understand how this works so I can find a strategy, but really a lot of it is out of my control. I’m mentally preparing myself to get put on insulin soon.

    5. GTKY: Would you describe yourself as an extrovert on introvert? Introvert, but I definitely have a limit. I am pretty social, but I have a group of very close friends whom I have known forever. Some are from elementary school. I love doing low key things like dinners, movies, and walks with my close friends or husband, but can’t stand larger gatherings or events where you have to talk to lots of people. Even if it’s acquaintances that I’ve met before and like, i still can find it draining. I really hate small talk.

@arieselle Congratulations on the new job. A change in commute like that is life changing! I’m also happy they are supportive and accommodating. Sounds awesome!
  • @arieselle that is amazing about the job! Congratulations!

  • @arieselle congrats on the new job! I don't have to tell you as someone that's gone from that 1 hour + commute down to a few minutes how amazing that is! Even better with the baby on the way, that way you don't feel too far from them when it's time to go back to work!

@BabyBoyH92016 I'm sure the other GD ladies can share with you tips on the fasting morning draw, but it likely had to do with whatever you did/not eat the night before. I've read mixed reviews on having some high-protein ice cream as dessert in the evening can do to help your sugar overnight, for instance. It's so frustrating in many ways because it's not an exact science, but the general gist is to make sure if you have carbs or sugar to pair it with some protein. Your liver can also do a glucose dump at any time so it can spike your sugars inexplicably anytime. I have my next 3 hour test tomorrow (I'm at risk so I get multiple tests during pregnancy since my mom had it) so I'm just reading up on it in case I end up on the same path. Just know that you're not alone!
  • @arieselle Congrats on the new job!  I am so happy for you.  I have an hour commute and it's taking everything out of me.  It's awesome that they are excited about the baby coming and being so accommodating!

  • @ariselle Congratulations! So jealous of the commute! - Signed, the girl who spends 45 minutes on the train and 10 minutes on the road every day.
  • @ginny_203 I would be in heaven if I could catch the train.  Traffic here is crazy and I take the tolls!

  • Thanks gals! The job I’m leaving started as a 2 week leave replacement 9 years ago and I’ve been trying for a job in my field close to home for 11 years. I’m still in shock. My heart goes out to anyone with a long commute. It’s brutal.
