  • How far along are you? How big is baby?

    24 weeks!

How are you feeling this week? Any new symptoms?

The back/hip pain, occasional other aches and pains, needing to eat more frequently again. I guess I can’t eat as much in one sitting anymore. Sucks because of my clear braces. I’m back to just taking them off and brushing my teeth a thousand times a day for small meals.

    Rants/Raves/Questions/Dear Diary?

I just ranted above about the braces. I should be done with them about February now (we’ve had some set backs due to scheduling appointments).

GTKY: What is your favorite fall tradition or activity?

I don’t really have fall traditions, but I like watching the leaves change color and I like that I can wear pants and sweaters again.

  • How far along are you? How big is baby?

    23w5d. Size of a grapefruit

How are you feeling this week? Any new symptoms?

SOOO tired again but also wake up crazy early in the morning and can't go back to sleep.  I was also STARVING all day yesterday. I hope that doesn't last.

    Rants/Raves/Questions/Dear Diary?

I am SOOOO over the 90+ degree weather. My body just can't take it, especially with my commute. I really hope this is the last week of it.  On a good note, we have an empty room for baby, a ton of stuff in storage and baby furniture ordered!

GTKY: What is your favorite fall tradition or activity?

Not activity but sweaters and scarfs and boots.  CAN'T WAIT!

    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @katy0990 Sorry about your insomnia and numbness! What causes your leg to go numb? Never heard of that symptom.

@tumbleweed-1 I feel you on struggles with clear braces; I used to wear them and it was such a hassle to snack during the day and then have to clean/brush/wash everything. Are you doing invisalign or something similar?

@lexidawg Whenever my sleep is interrupted or I have bouts of insomnia, my appetite always increases and I feel ravenous all day. Perhaps they are related...

    AFM--

How far along are you? How big is baby?

24 weeks 1 day; size of an ear of corn.

How are you feeling this week? Any new symptoms?

Feeling good! I definitely got a lot bigger these past two weeks so I'm literally wearing the same two or three outfits that fit/look good pretty much everyday. Hope nobody notices/cares, since I clearly don't! Insomnia also keeps me up, but I'm trying not to let it bother me. I just take it easier on those days. My doctor said I can take 25-50mg of Benadryl for sleep so I've been doing that occasionally on days when I'm feeling desperate for a peaceful night. I feel slightly guilty since my allergies aren't that active at the moment, but it helps me sleep and stay asleep throughout the night which is worth it for me...

    Rants/Raves/Questions/Dear Diary?

Just started to clean our apartment and get things ready/organized for the baby this weekend. We haven't really bought anything yet so this is our first major effort and realization that time is about to move very quickly and we'd better to start thinking about where everything is going to go! We have a 1 bedroom apartment in a city, so very limited space. I'm hopefully going to throw away half the junk we've accumulated in the next few weeks...

GTKY: What is your favorite fall tradition or activity?

Fall is my favorite season! I love all the fresh vegetables and apples and cooler weather. Everything just feels so fresh and hoping to spend more time outside once the weather becomes less oppressive. Today, unfortunately, is extremely hot and humid so who knows how long it will be until it really feels like fall. ugh.

  • @tumbleweed-1 I would be annoyed having to brush my teeth that many times, too. Do you have to brush after drinking, too?
@lexidawg Amen on being OVER the heat! DS just wants to play outside and I feel like I’m melting!
@shevsky Last time I had numbness in my left leg from 25 weeks on and random sporadic numbness in my wrists. They attributed it to polyhydramnios. At this point, I’m not sure what is causing it since I have not been diagnosed with poly (they don’t measure fluid levels until 24-25 weeks), but I don’t think I have it because I can still breathe this time. I may have to look into the Benedryll. I’m glad it is working for you!
  • @shevsky I have one that’s called Clear Correct, I think. It’s basically Invisalign, just a different brand/company. I hated having to learn to stop snacking and eat larger meals less frequently. Then I became pregnant and now have to eat small meals more frequently. I probably leave my trays out for more than 2 hrs per day, but I have to eat.
@katy0990 I’m only supposed to drink water with them in! And they are supposed to be in 22 hrs a day. I don’t follow that rule because life is too short. I pop them off quick and rinse out my mouth after I drink something really sugary.
  • @katy0990 @tumbleweed-1 @lexidawg @shevsky yes to loving fall and long forward to all the fall stuff!

@shevsky throwing away all the junk and reorganizing is stressful but so refreshing! Good luck! We just downsized significantly and donated about an entire house full of stuff! Now we are organizing and making room for all the baby junk we will be accumulating shortly.

@katy0990 I am sorry about the insomnia and numbness in your thigh.

@tumbleweed-1 I get the back/hip pain. So uncomfortable!

How far along are you? How big is baby?

24+1, baby is the size of a cantaloupe!  That seems so huge!

How are you feeling this week? Any new symptoms?

The back pain is significant. Heartburn rages on.  Nothing new, just discomfort.

    Rants/Raves/Questions/Dear Diary?

I wish people paid better attention when driving. When you are careless, you are endangering more than just your life.  Please think!

GTKY: What is your favorite fall tradition or activity?

Fall is my favorite! I can't wait for sweater weather,  flannels, pumpkin everything, baking, decorating for Halloween.  I think my favorite traditions are pumpkin and apple picking, decorating for Halloween, and baking! Baking season lasts from fall to late winter in our house :)

  • How far along are you? How big is baby?

23 weeks 4 days, ear of corn

How are you feeling this week? Any new symptoms?

Good. New symptoms include shortness of breath when working out and not being able to bend down as easily. lol

    Rants/Raves/Questions/Dear Diary?

RANTS: I've been without my car for almost a month now. I just want it back!! I just realized this morning that my spare car has a headlight out, so I need to fix that.

Raves: DS is doing great with potty training. But he still has the occasional accident and I don't really know if that's normal or not. I feel like at this point (he's been in underwear only since May) he shouldn't be having accidents anymore. :/ It seems to only be when he is busy playing/distracted or we are on a long car ride and we don't believe him when he says he has to pee because its the 50 time he's told us that and the other 49 times he only said it so he could get out of his carseat.

GTKY: What is your favorite fall tradition or activity?

Football!! I haven't really even watched it much since DS was born because he's so busy I can't sit down. I also love Thanksgiving. It's my favorite holiday, I love spending time with the family and eating good food. I can't wait to take DS to a pumpkin patch this year and let him pick out a pumpkin. Maybe go on a hayride.

  • @katy0990 I really hope the numbness eases up for you!

@tumbleweed-1 Oh, I love watching the leaves change colors and watching them fall from the trees! I love all the different colors.

@lexidawg Agree. This heat is KILLER! I want it to cool off, but not be freezing. lol There was one day last week when I was starving constantly. I'd just eat and be hungry again. It was ridiculous.

@shevsky Fall is my favorite too! I realize it's technically still summer but it's September and it needs to start cooling off!

  • @AdorkablePixie Idk what’s normal or not, but my son has been in underwear for a year (we started too early and our childcare providers were not on board, it was a nightmare) and he still dribbles in his underwear every couple of weeks when he is super focused on playing. Like I said, I’m not sure if that’s normal, but he is not the only one!
  • @katy0990 Thank you. At least I know he isn't the only one.

  • Hi All! I'm slow as always! Every time I want to take my time and respond work gets in my way.

How far along are you? How big is baby? 23 wks - a grapefruit

How are you feeling this week? Any new symptoms? Not really just feeling large and in-charge

    Rants/Raves/Questions/Dear Diary?

RANT: We moved out boys rooms this weekend and put up the crib. Being pregnant I forgot how much damn work it all is. If I wasn't pregnant I could do half of the moving crap myself so that is frustrating. Two I have another flipping squirrel in my damn attic so that is pissing me off. 2nd one in a few months which is 500 a pop to remove. Shoot me now!

GTKY: What is your favorite fall tradition or activity? Love going to pumpkin patches with the boys :) Fun outdoor time before it gets too cold!

@katy0990 having a working dishwasher and disposal is big! We had both broken when we moved to our house 5 years ago. Was a PITA!

@AdorkablePixie give it time. Potty training each kid is different. My older son I trained at 2 before I had the baby - he then regressed. Was still having random poop accidents a year later. My second son I waited until 3 to potty train. He was trained in a weekend and rarely ever do we have accidents and I pretty much trained him when he told me he was ready. MY 6 year old still pees the bed yet my 4 year old never nor needs a pull up at night.

@tumbleweed-1 braces are a pain but you will be so happy when they are done. I want to do invisiline at some point. Not sure which is cheaper. Stinks when we are old none of this crap is covered. I had braces for 3 years as a kid and didn't wear the old school retainer so definitely want my bottom teeth fixed at some point. DRives me nuts they are so crowded they are moving on top of each other at this age.

@lexidawg Love boot season! Which means I can break out leggings at work lol. It has been super hot but not complaining here because I hate the cold!

@scaredunprepared no one can drive in Northern VA. I sit in this crap over 3 hours a day and want to hurt people by the time I get home. I am fine when I'm alone but cut me off or drive crazy with my kids in the car I will beat some butt.

    shevsky are you in NYC?

  • @mcgeeva Im sorry about the squirrel. $500 to remove?!?!?!
  • @tumbleweed-1 Do you feel like your teeth are shifting faster with all the pregnancy hormones? I've heard that's a thing that happens! I still wear my trays on days when I don't have to interact with people a lot because I'm nervous that they'll shift back because of hormones (still wear them every night too). You're probably better than me, but I would sometimes eat/drink with them in if it wasn't too sticky/hot, but don't follow my bad example!

@scaredunprepared haha definitely refreshing! And you sound like you're lightyears ahead of me...I've literally done almost nothing to prepare so far and am starting to get anxious about it. I still have SO much cleaning to do before we even have space to accumulate baby stuff :( but we'll get there...

@mcgeeva Chicago now! But used to live in NYC before I moved here. Still miss NY almost DAILY. Would love to move back there in the future...probably not the city though ($$$).
  • Yes @katy0990 it's redic here. There is no one that takes out squirrels in northern va except these wildlife/catcher people. Makes me crazy!

@shevsky never been to chicago but I'm sure it's beautiful and cold! Yeah I don't think anyone can afford living in NYC in the city. Friends of mine & fam that had kids almost all moved to jersey and commute in to NY for work.

  • @mcgeeva can you set a trap with nuts or something? Geez I can’t get over $500
  • @katy0990 gurlllllll I tried! We were never able to catch it and the trap I got was from homedepot and I guess just wasn't good. So guy came in and caught two coming in and out constantly. And now my ass is too fat to even attempt to get up in the attic :)

  • How far along are you?

    23 Weeks 2Days

    How big is baby?

Baby is size of a mango

How are you feeling this week? Any new symptoms?

Heartburn has finally got me, my Attitude

    Rants/Raves/Questions/Dear Diary?

Rant:  We’ve just finished moving and now getting adjusted to our new home and MIL wants to come permanently visit until baby gets here. I don’t know if this is contributing to My Attitude Outrage but I feel like it is. My husband is all for her coming. But we’ve just move and I want my “Own Space” for a bit before baby is here. Because once he is here we’ll both have a ton of family coming to visit! Is it my hormones or am I being selfish?

GTKY: What is your favorite fall tradition or activity?

Everything Fall I Love it. My birthday is in the fall (September 23) Decorations, Halloween, All Spice Everything, The Weather not to cold not to hot. No more Mosquitoes!!

  • @loccmom2Your MIL wants to come now and stay until at least December? Hellll no! I don’t think you are being unreasonable at all!
  • @loccmom2 I agree with you & @katy0990. That’s a long time to have her over, especially when you are trying to enjoy and settle into a new space.

@shevsky I’m not great with my braces... lol. I’m drinking a mocha with them on right now. Idk what’s worse- the sugar on my teeth or caffeine this late in the day (almost 5pm, pacific time). I can feel them shift faster, and asked my dentist about speeding up the process because of pregnancy ligaments. He said that, unfortunately, it still takes the same amount of time for my jaw bone to make space & resolidify around the roots so it’s best to stay on my current plan. I should have them off around January/February and move to the night time only ones then.
  • @shevsky I'm in chicago too! Feeling you on the tiny condo in the city...
  • @loccmom2 agree with others. A big hell no! Especially while pregnant. I would lose my shit after two days but I’m not close to mine and she’s lazy as f and drinks all day.

  • @loccmom2 NOPE. Hard for me to imagine this situation for myself because my mom/step-mom would NEVER offer to do this. But if they even tried, I'd lose my mind.

@hannelorre Really? Awesome!! Where are you planning on delivering? (maybe I'll send you a PM...)

@tumbleweed-1 January/February is not too far away!

@Erinka I may have to made homemade applesauce with DS. Thanks for the idea!
  • @shevsky I'll be at prentice.
  • @loccmom2 definitely put your foot down. Have a heart to heart with YH about it.  If you don't want guests for extended periods, that is totally understandable and NORMAL!

@Erinka Yummy!  I've made apple pumpkin butter before in the crock pot and its amazing! Same thing as apple sauce actually (with the addition of baked pumpkin), but just cook it much longer until it thickens up, then blend with a hand blender.  It stays good in the fridge for a VERY long time and in the freezer pretty much forever. I love it in the fall on toast, bagels, waffles, pretty much everything!  You've given me an idea for a project :)
  • @mcgeeva Oh no, squirrels in the attic sounds so annoying. I guess they don't just leave on their own? Is there something you could put up there that would make it want to leave?

@loccmom2 What?! That would be a big NO. That's a long time for her to stay. That's just crazy.

  • AdorkablePixie I wish! But no such luck. Need to find out where they are coming in to close up the hole bc the way it was explained to me is they will scratch until the ceiling is paper thin so the heat comes through to the nest for babies. And you can't sleep with them. They scratch and let me tell you last time the kids wouldn't sleep they were all freaked out by the scratching

  • @hannelorre Cool, my OB delivers at both Prentice and Rush so I'm touring both...I figure if I have an uncomplicated delivery/pregnancy/low-risk it shouldn't really matter where I deliver, but I've heard Prentice has a better NICU in case something goes wrong.
  • @shevsky yea it shouldn't matter in most cases - more of what's more convenient for you. Exciting to see someone close by!
  • @mcgeeva Ugh. That sucks. I thought we had a squirrel in our attic a our old house, but maybe it was a mouse or something, because it ended up going away whatever it was.

  • @mcgeeva I’m glad he didn’t charge you, but yuck!!!
  • @mcgeeva in our olds house we used to hear something scratching around in the attic all the time, but everytime we went up to check, saw nothing.  Pest guy couldn't find it, and inspector saw no signs of anything.  Maybe it was/is just on the roof???
  • @scaredunprepared it could of been a mouse or something. I feel like it's always something. When we had squirrels we could see them coming and going :) but ya never know!
