Randoms 9/4- 9/9

Re: Randoms 9/4- 9/9

  • @bdesterhouse I agree! The size comparisons they make are all over the map! They make no sense
  • Every year my one or more of my second graders will ask, “are you having a baby?” I’m by no means thin, but not overweight, so if I wear something not flattering I can understand why they ask. In the past, I’ve always honestly answered no, no baby here. Well, it happened today! I still haven’t told anyone at work, and it’s still definitely my belly, not the baby. I didn’t know how to honestly answer! Hahaha. I went with answering with a question and the conversation quickly turned to one about our shared love of junk food! At first I thought I’d tell my students once I started showing, but now I might just wait and see who decides to ask!

  • So I started a new job last week and I'm finding most of my coworkers are not very inviting. I'm feeling very left out even if I try to be super friendly. They don't want to be bothered.  There is only one person that I've really clicked with and of course today is her last day!

  • @violetmarie61516 Really sorry to hear this. You’re going through some real challenges lately, hang in there!

Maybe ask the new friend/soon-to-be leaving coworker if she has any tips or advice for you on making it work? Good luck!
  • @violetmarie61516 I’m sorry to hear that. I find that it is always awkward at a new job for a while, and people slowly warm as they realize they can trust you to do your part. I always feel like a burden at the beginning because training takes up so much of someone’s time. I hope it gets better for you.
  • @violetmarie61516 I definitely agree with what @maggiemadeit and @keikilove have said! I always find it’s hard at work to connect with people especially in the beginning. I would just keep trying by being friendly and pulling your weight.
  • So now my office has mold... I think this building is trying to kill me.

  • They’re planning to remediate it soon. How soon is a good question (govt office) and how long it’s been there is another concern all together. We had water damage probably 7 months ago that they “fixed”.

  • I'm craving chinese from a specific restaurant in town like CRAZY! Asked a couple coworkers if they'd like to order in but apparently I was 5 minutes too late as they both already heated up their lunches. GAH. Text DH my pity party (he's off today) and got "maybe you can get some tomorrow?" I'm going out of town tomorrow - the chinese just won't be the same! LOL
  • @HoneyBear40 Such a bummer! Hopefully, you were able to talk your husband into it for dinner. I know when those things happen...I will daydream about it until I get it!

  • You guys!!!  :s  I completely forgot I had my second dr’s appointment today!!! They callled me when I was 5 minutes late. I was already at work and couldn’t make it within a reasonable amount of time. They had no more openings for today.

I have a specialist appointment next week but I would’ve loved the reassurance today. It’s been such a weird gross-feeling pregnancy so far that I’ve been worrying that all is not well. I can’t believe I missed that appointment...
  • @keikilove that is so frustrating about missing an appointment ugh! I always put them in my phone calendar with several alarms to remind me.

My random is that I just found out via Facebook that one of my exes now works for my brothers company. My brother is pretty high up in the company so I have no idea if they work in the same office or anything. But I’m not sure why I’m so irritated about this I’ve been married to my DH for over 5 years and he’s wonderful. I guess I just find it weird.
  • Spending my Saturday morning doing an early generational diabetes test. Sugary drink had been consumed. Now I just have to wait 2 hours.  :s

  • Good luck with the results on Monday! @purpleteacher82
  • @purpleteacher82 yuck. I do mine on the 19th and I’m really not looking forward to it  :|

Thursday was DS1 birthday. DH was outta town so we went out today. What did DS choose? Bowling. I’m in pain now with low heat on my back, drinking tea and watching Notre Dame football. Worst part? My ILs are coming for dinner and cake soon and I just want my bed :weary:

  • Not sure if randoms is the right place but I don’t feel like symptoms is the right place either. Almost two weeks ago at my 12 week anatomy scan babe was down where it is typical, but my fetal Doppler kept picking up heart tones higher up. I’m 14 weeks today and heart tones are being picked up right near my belly button. Anyone else have a little so high up? My best friend who is a nurse said it’s too soon for baby to be so high up but agreed that the tones I was getting was baby. I’m not sure why this freaks me out, but my PGAL brain can’t seem to relax about this. I have an appointment Tuesday morning and I will get answers from the doc then, but curious if I’m not an odd ball. This is my fourth pregnancy that has made it to this gestational week, so I’m not sure if that makes a difference?

  • My PGAL brain keeps telling me that it’s not really the baby’s heartbeat and when I go in Tuesday I’m going to get bad news. I’m sure this probably should have gone in the PGAL group. I was just looking to see if someone else is going through something similar.

  • @bdesterhouse I’m sure it’s fine. If it causes you stress, maybe you need to hide the Doppler until after your appointment. Hurricane prep is underway here. Is anyone else being threatened by Florence?

I'm pretty sure I inadvertently packed a bunch of my maternity clothes for the move because I am a massive idiot.

DD2 started walking.  It's adorable and I am already worn out.  How am I going to do this with three DDs 3 and under?!
I packed what I hadn't given away  because I thought we'd have our stuff by now.  Sorely regretting that... Though I don't think I have much left anyway  since I was. Solidly done having kids and purged literally 2 months before. My bfp

  • @bdesterhouse I'm 15 weeks today and just had an appointment 3 days ago (so 14w 4d). My doctor (heartily) prodded my belly and proclaimed "ah, there baby is!" It was right by my belly button. I was surprised but he seemed confident. When he puked out the Doppler he started by my belly button and then laughed and said baby was squirming away. He did eventually find it much lower, but had originally started near my belly button. He's been a doctor for 30+ years and god knows how many babies he's delivered, and he didn't find it odd at all that baby would be near my belly button when I was laying down. My best guess is baby may seem/feel hgood Cher when we are lying down vs standing up? I thought baby would be much lower too. I'm sure you're ok!

@bdesterhouse I’m not sure if this is helpful: I have a vein that runs down my stomach past my belly button that I can’t see visibly through the skin. But I can feel my heart beat through this vein (the same way one can feel their heartbeat in their neck or wrist) and sometimes if I’m lying down I can see that whole belly button area “thumping” to the rhythm of my heartbeat. (When I was young I used to think that somehow my heart was located outside of my rib cage because of this weird phenomenon.) Maybe you also have a vein that’s echoing baby’s heartbeat? I know this sounds bizarre and idiotic since the placent & umbilical cord isn’t attached directly to any of your veins, but just thought I’d share my weird experience.
  • I ugly cried at work Friday.... Pregnancy emotions at their finest.
  • @bdesterhouse I’m not sure we can reassure you if you are worried. That’s just what PGAL brain does!! Hang in there momma!!

  • Thank you ladies. I’m sure everything is fine, and I’m just being paranoid. I get like this when there are two weeks between appointments instead of a week. I think I will calm down more once I start feeling movements.

@bdesterhouse I’m not a PGAL but I had a high risk pregnancy last time and every time I go in the office I get so much anxiety that my BP is going to be high and/or something else will be wrong with me/baby. Of course all this anxiety only causes my BP to actually be higher. I’m not sure if it’s even appropriate for me to respond to you and I don’t want to be Insensitive to how or what you are dealing with. Just want you to know you aren’t alone in feeling anxiety about the appointments.

ETA because my finger hit submit before I wrote anything!
  • I don’t think you have to go through a loss to get anxiety, especially if things in previous pregnancies were traumatic for you. I’d never discredit someone’s feelings just because they didn’t walk in my shoes. I’d never wish for anyone to experience what I did.
