Lurkers! Come out, Come out, Where ever you are!

Hello lurkers!
Many of us are about half way through our journey! If you’ve been lurking in the shadows we want to get to know you if you’d like to be known. Here is a place to jump in if you feel like it’s awkward to come in suddenly at the middle, or if you haven’t participated yet for any other reason. As a reformed lurker myself I know how intimidating it can be and also how rewarding it is to get to know these ladies for real. So, if you’re ready, tell us about yourself!

How has your pregnancy gone so far? What was the worst part and best part up to now?

Tell us about yourself! What’s your favorite food? What do you do for a living? Tell us about your partner, or your pets, or your other kiddos.

Tell is about your baby! Team green, team blue, or team pink? Singlet or multiples? How do you plan to get that baby out?

  • @MissAmber23 I recently jumped back in after taking a bit of a leave of absence too. Welcome back! That is crazy about your midwife bailing on you with your 3rd so late in the game. I hope you're birth plan goes off without a hitch this time!

  • @MissAmber23 wow, I can’t believe your midwife just bailed. I hope you’ll find someone to stick with you through your at home vbac!
  • @MissAmber23 I’m sorry your midwife bailed on you last time! How do you feel about your current provider?
  • Thanks. So far feeling really good about the new midwife. She knows the whole story about the last one and is really supportive.

The whole situation was really crazy. I saw the midwife on a Tuesday (38 weeks 6 days) and she said everything was looking ok. My BP had been creeping up a bit over the past couple weeks, but was still in the normal range (130s over 80s) except when I got super stressed about it. I was supposed to get labs done Thursday. Labs had all looked good up to that point and as I left she said “you look good.”

The next day she texted me in the late afternoon and asked me to call her. When I called she said she changed her mind and she was transferring me to a doctor I’d never met, and that I had to be induced that day. She kept saying “you’re not going to change my mind.” We ended up going to the hospital, meeting the doctor, being pressured into being induced, and then ending up with a c section 24 hours later. The midwife had said she would come to the hospital to be there for support and never showed up.

  • @MissAmber23 holy moly. Was there anyone to complain to about her?
  • @MissAmber23 Argh, how frustrating and unprofessional! Also, I'm glad to see you back here...I remember you as the one I stole my mom from :) Did you end up going with Star? (Am I being uber creepy for asking??)

  • @MissAmber23 that sounds so frustrating! Hope your delivery goes off without a hitch this time!
  • @PensiveCrayon I remember that story! About another bump member figuring out your mom was the midwife she wanted.
  • @PensiveCrayon yep ended up going with Star. Was sad your mom was not available but Star seems great!

No, unfortunately. She works independently. I guess I could have reported her to the licensing board but doubtful they’d do anything.

  • @zoepac Sorry you had such a rough ride so far! Happy that your hypermesis finally subdued in the past couple weeks. Are you going to schedule a date for your c-section if you go that route? Do they have any other reason to think you wouldn't make it to 32 weeks (or just based on your history with your last one)?

@LostinUtopia I'm happy your doctors are being proactive about monitoring your baby's size and potential GD, but obviously stressful to change your diet and worry about pushing out such a big baby   I'm a big baker in my spare time also and love making paleo desserts! Not sure if those would all be GD friendly, but I'd be happy to share if you end up needing them.

@MissAmber23 Wow, what a horrible experience! I hope things go very differently for you this time (I mean, they have to, right?)

  • @zoepac, I will have a scheduled c-section & since I was due the first week of Dec, I will give birth in Nov too! Maybe even earlier Nov now that I have Cholestasis.
  • @LostinUtopia We have an awesome Gestational Diabetes thread that you should join if you are diagnosed! The three of us that are regulars on it have all been diagnosed since early pregnancy and while it isn't necessarily fun, it's doable! It's worth it for our munchkins! And the support is always helpful.
Yes, I was going to mention this too @LostinUtopia! We've shared some recipes, though I haven't found much personally as far as baking/desserts goes. Unfortunately, Paleo like some someone else mentioned isn't usually GD friendly. Come on over and chat with us! :)

Welcome to all the lurkers! Glad you're all here!

  • @ScootsMcG welcome, how old is your youngest?  Mine is 15 months, and feel a special type of bond with those with a super young child lol kudos to your hubby for staying home
  • @ScootsMcG our stories are kind of similar! I’m a mom to three boys (9,6,6), also have an SCH, but I’m not team green. We already know I’m a mom to 4 boys.  :# Can’t wait to see if you join me in this one more boy journey.
  • Either my computer is too slow or I'm too slow, but I can't figure out how to tag:).

@jens_hoes my youngest is 22 months.  There is definitely something nice about talking to someone in a similar type of chaos:)  Starting today, we are finally starting to get him in his own bed at night.  I'm running out of time so we have to, but I'm dreading the lack of sleep!

Thank you @snugglyduckling.  It's also very nice to know there's someone out there with a SCH as well...I know statistically it should be no big deal...but my mom brain wants no part of that logic:)!  I'd be thrilled with either boy or girl...but I do think it'd be pretty fun to have four little boys.  My paternal grandmother had four boys and I was really close to her, so it's kinda neat to think I could have four little guys as well.

@ScootsMcG  I hope your ultrasound goes well!
  • @ScootsMcG They found an SCH at my 12 week ultrasound. This is an IVF baby after quite a bit of loss and time so I was scared even though they told me it was nothing at all to worry about. So I absolutely totally understand you worrying. Mine was gone at 16 weeks. Hoping all is well today at the ultrasound!
  • @ScootsMcG mine was found at almost 13 weeks and was still hanging around as of 19 weeks (I’m 25 now). I go in next week for another ultrasound and I’m curious to see what it’s doing. When it first happened I was so scared, even now I have days of worry, but feeling movement consistently and finally making it to viability has helped. My doctor is not worried about it at all at this point. Hope you have a great ultrasound today!
  • @CecilB93 @mamajudec2018
I did actually lurk a little in your thread even for GD.... unfortunately even if my GTT is normal (although I’m suspecting it won’t be..) apparently it’s not uncommon for mom’s pregnant with big babies (not sure of the percentile, though) to have to still monitor their diet and possibly still do at home glucose testing... more or less to try to slow the growth of the baby. Great news coming from my mom, the Midwife. Haha. They did do a fairly early ultrasound which these days are pretty accurate so it’s very unlikely they messed up my due date. Sigh.
  • @LostinUtopia So glad there was no sign of it today!

@LostinUtopia I'm sorry to hear that but also think it's so great when they take extra care for the baby! So no matter what happens it'll so be worth it! Just a few more months and then we get to hold our sweet angels!
  • @MissAmber23 Wow!! That is terrible.

@blueberrysmommy25 I feel like you've commented enough as of late that we don't really consider you a lurker. Or I don't anyway, because I recognize your name. ;)

@LostinUtopia I love to bake!! My MIL had GD when she was pregnant with DH and he was almost 11 pounds!!! I was so scared our DS was going to be born that big, thankfully he doesn't. Now I am just hoping this little one isn't either.

@shevsky I am expecting at the end of December too! December 29. :) You should also post a picture of your cat in our pets thread, I'd love to see what she looks like.

  • @shevsky my MFM is hopeful I will make it to 34 weeks. I am also high risk for a slew of reasons the biggest is type 1 diabetes for 25 years. I'm super well controlled but there is a lot they don't know about how it leads to increased size in babies (I'm actually in a clinical trial this time where they are taking my placenta after birth and a bunch of blood tests to further research in the area). My son was huge at 32/33 weeks (6lbs 12oz) and this one is measuring 5 weeks ahead right now. I just think he's coming early for all of those reasons:) last time we were not prepared but this time I figure better prepared!
@mommythlegend hopefully you are feeling ok? Gallstones are the worst and I can't imagine while pregnant!
  • @Fruitcove7 I recognize your name from before. Welcome back!
