Prenatal vitamin

Hi all! Just had my first ultrasound and I am 7 weeks 2 days. Baby’s heart beat is going strong at 130 bpm. My doctor gave me some samples of Vitafol gummies because I was having a hard time swallowing my other ones from morning sickness! I noticed that calcium is not listed in the Vitafol ingredients. Anyone else have experience with Vitafol? Did you add a calcium supplement? Thanks!

Re: Prenatal vitamin

  • I’ve never taken one with any of my pregnancies.  I usually get it from dairy and leafy greens.  What did your doctor say about the lack of calcium? Did he mention it?
  • No, he didn’t say anything. I guess if he wanted me to take it he would have said it. I’m just curious because my previous prenatal had calcium in it. Maybe when I go pick it up tomorrow I will ask.

  • If it were me, I'd take calcium just to be on the safe side. And if my provider said I didn't need it, I'd be really pushing to find out why they thought that.

Your body is building an entire skeleton in there, and if you don't get enough through diet/vitamins, your body will start pulling from your bones for the baby.

  • If you do take calcium try to get it from a natural source as synthetic calcium can cause your babies skeleton to become too firm before birth and make labor more difficult. Just make sure you look into it before you start taking something.

    I don't think this is a thing.
Me either. Where did you get this information?
