24 weeks, the size of a canteloupe (about a foot long, 1.3 lbs)
How old is/are your other LOs? DD is 6, DS is 4.
This week, DD asked me if baby could hear inside my belly. I told her yes, and that he'll probably recognize her voice when he comes out. Since then, she's been talking to him constantly. And laughing a lot at my belly so he can hear her laugh. It's the cutest damn thing.
DS told me yesterday that when baby comes, he'll follow all of DS's rules. LOL okay there, because I noticed DS is always listening when DD orders him around
Nails and fails from this week: The whole week is a bit of a fail with the flooding. We might be looking at replacing the roof, which is a bummer when we were planning to use that money to buy a minivan or SUV that can fit 3 kids more easily. Uuugh.
Rant/Rave/Dear Diary:
GTKY: Share an embarrassing parenting moment!
I'm trying so hard and coming up blank. I may have to come back to this one.
@runrinserepeat That is so sweet that your DD wants the baby to hear her voice and her laugh! That really sucks about your roof, though.
How far along are you? How big is baby?
21+2, the size of a baseball hat.
How old is/are your other LOs?
He will be 2.5 next month.
Nails and fails from this week:
Nails: I made some amazing boneless Parmesan garlic wings for dinner the other night and DS and I are going to try out a new playgroup tomorrow!
Fails: I was kind of grumpy with DH last night because I was tired and now I feel bad.
Rant/Rave/Dear Diary:
I am anxiously awaiting the results of the cell-free DNA blood test we had done this week, due to the urinary tract dilation found on the a/s.

*This may be TMI*
I took DS to a new park on Monday to play and eat lunch after a full morning of running errands and doctor appointments. Well, after eating and playing for a few minutes, he looked at me with “that look” and told me he had to poop. I then realized that this park does not have restrooms. There was no way he was going to make it back to the car and to a restroom, so the only solution I could come up with was to just have him go behind the shelter and poop in the grass. Well, I knelt down in front of him to give him a pep talk, because he looked so confused and he peed Right.At.Me. So what was my reaction? TO CUP MY HANDS?!?! So now I have pee all over my calf and my hands and he was looking at me like I had lost my mind, which I am not convinced that I hadn’t. Needless to say, we came home and showered and he told me husband all about it and I’m pretty sure I’ll never hear the end of it.
Nails and fails from this week: Nails: LO has been staying in his bed!!! Thank you sweet baby Jesus!
Fails: I got frustrated with DS because I thought he was complaining about the drink I gave him and he was really just upset because I forgot to screw in the straw so he couldn't get anything out Sorry honey Also, he desperately needs a haircut and I have the lazies so he looks like a hot mess.
Rant/Rave/Dear Diary: I really need to buckle down and start on LOs room. We really haven't done anything.
GTKY: Share an embarrassing parenting moment! At DSs birthday party a couple of weeks ago, we were cleaning up at the splash park and a random person came over and was like, is that your son? I look over and he has his swim trunks down PEEING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SPLASH PAD. Nope. I've never seen him before in my life
Nails: Officially full transitioned to a big boy bed! AND he's off bottles!!
Fails: He is way overdue for a haircut and the place he went before no longer has a person for kid's hair. UGH. The set up was so cool too. He sat in a jeep and got to watch wiggles on netflix.
Rant/Rave/Dear Diary:
This summer is passing so fast and much like @texas_t I really need to get to work on the nursery
GTKY: Share an embarrassing parenting moment!
Nothing too bad but now DS likes to tell you if he or anyone else farts. So he will be out in public and be like"daddy farted!" which is bad enough. Then a couple weeks ago we were at a park and this kid (maybe 1) farted and he kept saying "baby farted!!" and every time the kid was around him he would say "hi fart" luckily his mom was a good sport.
Nails: We went to my mom’s yesterday and she got to play with the puppy. So much fun! She thought it was hysterical when the dog would run past her really fast and wanted him to bark at her (he was trying to get her to play and chase him). They were both very good...puppy seemed to know instinctively he shouldn’t jump on her and she was not rough with him and not afraid.
Fails: DH is away for the week and I hate it. That is all.
Rant/Rave/Dear Diary: Not much going on this week. Just cleaning today!
GTKY: Share an embarrassing parenting moment!
I’m trying to but I really can’t think of anything. She’s still pretty young and I can’t remember her having an explosive poo on someone or anything like that.
@runrinserepeat SO cute that your DD wants baby to hear her laugh. Loooove that. Sorry about your roof issues though. That super sucks.
@katy0990 That story made me lol. Yes darling I’ll catch your pee! Lol that’s totally something I would do.
@texas_t Is it bad that all I think about is those poor barbers who have to listen to the wiggles alllll day? That would drive me to drink.
I'm giggling at all these embarrassing parenting moments. And how cuuuuute @runrinserepeat! @texas_t I've definitely done the straw thing before. I noticed A was sucking and sucking and realized nothing was coming out for him!
How far along are you? How big is baby? 24 weeks, size of a cantaloupe
How old is/are your other LOs? 19 months
Nails and fails from this week: A nail (I guess?) was that I dropped my son off at hourly care this morning and instead of crying he went right off and started playing. He's in a bigger classroom now, so I think the fact that there were no crying babies helped.
Rant/Rave/Dear Diary: A had his bi-monthly EDIS followup this morning and it went so well. He was a whole lot more interactive during the evaluation than he normally is, and the evaluators were very happy with his progress since his last appointment in June. He's still in the black for every single ASQ category, but he's moving steadily along his own curve. We also chatted about the MCHAT flags, and they're happy -- based on the interaction and growth seen today -- to wait and see how he progresses in the next two months. I'm still waiting for his language explosion to occur, but every day I get more confident that it will happen eventually.
GTKY: Share an embarrassing parenting moment! I shared the big one a few weeks ago...need I remind you all? Airplane. Blowout. No diapers.

@runrinserepeat Your DD sounds so sweet! Mine is still too young to understand the baby in my belly will soon be on the outside, so it warms my heart to hear sweet big sibling stories like that.
@katy0990 That's a hilarious story! Way to catch that pee! But, did he end up pooping in the grass? Inquiring minds want to know!
@texas_t There have been moments where I haven't wanted to claim my kiddo either...that's a funny story! I like how all of ours involve potty moments.
@rosebud332 I'm glad all went well with the puppy! It's a relief when you can just let them play and not have to worry.
How far along are you? How big is baby? 23 weeks tomorrow! Corn cob...which reminds me, we've got to get to Lulu's Market for sweet corn this weekend, yummmm.
How old is/are your other LOs? She is 2
Nails and fails from this week:
Nail: Nothing super awesome to report this week. I suppose a nail could be that, while taking her pic in the bath last night, she said "cheeeeese!" and smiled. Instead of the usual, "no picture, Mom" and stank face.
Fail: DH and I got into a fight on Sunday and we still are kind of standoffish with each other.
Rant/Rave/Dear Diary: Dear Diary, I am FINALLY starting to get my appetite back and can eat more foods without gagging. Is it possible that I am becoming human again?!
GTKY: Share an embarrassing parenting moment! At about 16-22 months, B was totally obsessed with being in the bathroom while I went to the bathroom. She thought everything was EWW, GROSS, or STINKY when we pottied...even if it was just pee. We were in Target one time and I had to pee, so while we were in the stall, she was yelling, "eww, Mom. Gross, is that POOP?! Stinky!" I could hear giggles in the stall next to me and all I could do was laugh and say, "not this time, B, it's just pee." @kristah2 The fart announcements crack me up (because I'm immature like that) and it's even funnier that he said "hi, fart" to the little kid! My kid is a fart announcer also, but she hasn't said it out in public but once...and it was next to a teenager and the teenager giggled so it wasn't embarrassing.
@PensiveCrayon I’m so glad that his drop off and EDIS follow up went well!
@clbness Yes, he pooped and yes, I used 464257 napkins to pick it up and throw it out. I’m glad your appetite is coming back, but sorry you and your husband are on the outs. Marriage is rough some days!
24 weeks! As big as a cantaloupe. Doctor said about 1.3 lbs today after my scan!
How old is/are your other LOs?
He's 2.5
Nails and fails from this week:
Nail: we got DS to eat a few bites of his dinner last night!! Dinner being a balsamic roast and some buttered toast lol. But still, he ate some of his meat!! He loves meat on pizza, but if it's not on pizza he gets picky for some reason, so this was a win in my book.
Rant/Rave/Dear Diary:
Can't remember if I shared this here or not? I know I shared with my March BMB. Lately when I sew DS has been wanting to sit right next to me and "do like mommy does". So I'll give him paper or fabric scrap to (pretend) to cut with some plastic gardening shears he thinks are scissors lol. I even helped him lay a pattern out on his fabric so he could "cut" the pieces. I'm thinking I may have him sit on my lap when I sew a pillow for him. It's a simple enough project that he may enjoy it!
GTKY: Share an embarrassing parenting moment!
I am drawing a total blank and can't think of anything. I know there's something, but it's not coming to me right now.
@kristah2 lololol @ hi, fart! hahahha My son picked up calling people Booty Head at school. He uses it as a term of endearment and I'm a terrible mother because I call him a Booty Head right back. I've had to remind him not to call people he doesn't know Booty Head
Nail: Nothing super awesome to report this week. I suppose a nail could be that, while taking her pic in the bath last night, she said "cheeeeese!" and smiled. Instead of the usual, "no picture, Mom" and stank face.
Off topic, but another thing to try with kids who don't want to smile for pictures is asking them a question that they'll say "yes" to. Saying "yes" usually results in a more natural smile than "cheese" (my kids used to give the cheesiest smiles ever, which is almost as bad as not smiling at all), and it's super easy to trick them into it. Said the manipulative mom.
These stories are hilarious! Aaaaand they all have to do with poop @katy0990 you take the cake, that is one to remember for a lifetime!
How far along are you? How big is baby? 26 weeks tomorrow. A bunch of kale.. I guess.
How old is/are your other LOs? 20 months
Nails and fails from this week: A nail - we took away the binky for good a week and a half ago and it has gone really well! He asked for it for a few days and by the week mark he walked around saying "bobo all gone" (he called it bobo for some weird reason). It feels good to have that step out of the way! Next up: move him to his new room and bed in October..which is 5 weeks away. WHAT.
Rant/Rave/Dear Diary: DS is talking a ton & it's hilarious yet heartwarming. Also, I got some newborn snuggles in since my nephew was born almost two weeks ago. Life is good!
GTKY: This isn't much, but it came to mind first. When DS pooped in the tub for the first time (you bet it's happened multiple times), I took a picture and sent it to my sister. She's like.. WHY would you take a picture? I don't know, why would I think to take a picture of that? That was stupid. Maybe for future blackmail purchases?
@runrinserepeat that is adorable that your DD is talking to baby! @katy0990 I'm dying and could totally see me doing something similar. When my twins were almost 2 they had a stomach virus. When my kids are sick I always have a bucket nearby because I know kids usually don't make it to the bathroom. Why I thought I could have one bucket with two sick babies, I have no idea. That quickly backfired on me and I definitely started catching vomit in my hands since I had no where else for it to go. @PensiveCrayon yay for the good appointment!
How far along are you? How big is baby? 23 weeks today - a chinchilla
How old is/are your other LOs? Three boys - 9, 6, 6
Nails and fails from this week: Nails - I've kept up with homework and made lunches almost every day for the first week of school. Yes, this is a huge accomplishment for me. Fails: DS2 broke his collarbone on Monday night. We had just finished his first cross country practice and were at home. I was getting the bath ready and I hear him screaming. Apparently he was trying out a front flip in the living room and landed horribly wrong. He's doing okay now, I really feel bad that cross country is over for him now - he was so excited to be a part of the team. Now he will just watch his twin brother practice and run in the meets. I'm hoping maybe he's cleared to run in a month and can get back to it, but we will see.
Rant/Rave/Dear Diary:
GTKY: Share an embarrassing parenting moment! I am definitely coming up blank on this one and with my 3 boys I KNOW there is a good story out there. I'll have to think more about it.
Love the stories. Of course they are all potty “adventures.”
@runrinserepeat agree I hate the “cheese” smile. It’s such a silly squnched-up face. We made up silly combinations of words like “peanut butter taco monkey” and get real smiles and laughs.
how far along/how big: 22 weeks tomorrow
other littles: Poppy is 4
Nails/fails: Nails: night potty training is going really well. One accident in the past month? We take her to pee once around 11 and she’s good for the night. Also I am loving my recent organizing binges. Moar please!
Fails: my child went to camp today with temporary tattoos all over her arms. Not something I imagined I’d let her do at this age, but oh well. A bunch of her friend were wearing them this week from party favors from a birthday party we all went to last weekend. Pretty sure I wouldn’t have been allowed to do that at 14, let alone 4!
rant/rave/dear diary: more a fml. I am still way overloaded at work, having miserable preggo symptoms today, and can’t focus to work because I’m refluxy, puked twice, and my hips hurt with sitting.
gtky: I’ll join with a bathroom (or lack thereof) story. We were at a park (MH, Poppy, and me) with MH’s boss and her husband and their elementary age son, and my sister and her kids. The kids are running around and playing hide and seek behind this row of bushes. Just as another family (friends with MH’s boss) come up and we are being introduced, my kid comes out of the bushes with wet pants. I ask her if she had a accident, and she happily tells me “no, I had to pee so I squatted down and peed behind a tree!”
See, a few weeks before, she and I had been running around the pond, when she had to pee. I took her behind a tree, helped her pull down her pants, squat, and pee. She thought this was pretty awesome!
So that day in the park, she tried to do the same on her own, but skipped that critical step of pulling her pants down first. Miraculously there was none on her shoes, but of course, it was the one time I wasn’t overprepared with a change of clothes.
21 months yesterday! Meaning, 2 years old in less than three months
Nails and fails from this week:
I threw a 25-year anniversary party for my company last night and it went perfectly. I don't take praise or compliments well, but everyone kept thanking me and I tried really hard to just own it. DD had orientation for school on Monday & yesterday and it went great. Hope it carries through to her first day on Monday. And I scheduled fall family photos. Woo! Now, fail-wise, aside from packing up my office for our move this weekend and yesterday's party, I got nothing else done at work this week.
Rant/Rave/Dear Diary:
Rant: being pregnant with a toddler in tow is not as peaceful and amazing as being pregnant with no kids. I'm. So. Tired.
GTKY: Share an embarrassing parenting moment!
DD was the most chill, easiest newborn and infant. She was born in November, so we hibernated most of the winter. At around week 12 PP, I ventured out with her alone (probs for the firs time?) to meet some coworkers for lunch and she did great. I went back to the office with them to introduce her to other people... and she had her first-ever meltdown. She wailed for at least 45 minutes It was so awful.
@runrinserepeat Re DD: that is so cute! When DD is fussing bad I tell her baby brother can hear her. That sucks about the roof - sorry!
@texas_t FWIW: all we've done is move my office desk to our bedroom. (My office is becoming the guest room; guest room, the new nursery.) I have picked our a dresser - just waiting for my mom or ILs to ask us what we need so they can pay for it. Is it bad that I'm not really worried about it???
@texas_t LOL Peeing in the splash pad, that’s hilarious.
@Katzalia My niece got temporary tattoos somewhere once when she was like 5. I had her for the weekend while my brother took her to NY (where he proposed!!) and she wanted to put it in so I let her. It was just a cute little heart. Well, she freaked out and I had to make sure to wash it off before they got home. I really didn’t see what the big deal was.

@runrinserepeat agree I hate the “cheese” smile. It’s such a silly squnched-up face. We made up silly combinations of words like “peanut butter taco monkey” and get real smiles and laughs.
how far along/how big: 22 weeks tomorrow
other littles: Poppy is 4
Nails/fails:
Nails: night potty training is going really well.
Pretty sure I wouldn’t have been allowed to do that at 14, let alone 4!
rant/rave/dear diary:
more a fml.
How far along are you? How big is baby?
25+4. A cauliflower, allegedly.
How old is/are your other LOs?
@katy0990 That is hilarious.
