Symptoms? Active baby! Otherwise feeling pretty good.
Upcoming appointments? Had a regular OB appointment last Friday, my BP (had pre-E first pregnancy) continues to stay steady with low readings for me. We have our A/S (AND first ultrasound!) on Friday, at exactly 20 weeks.
R/R/Q: DD and DH both have colds. Last night was a rough night of sleep in our house due to the constant coughing/sneezing between the two of them. Hoping I avoid it and they start to feel better soon.
Trying to think of a fun way to share with family/friends the gender of the baby after we find out. With DD we held up an "It's a girl!" Christmas ornament and took a picture and sent it out as our Christmas card. Our family is all over the country so we won't do a gender reveal but want to share a fun picture announcement!
GTKY: How did you find out you were pregnant and how did you tell your SO? We had actually just talked about trying for #2 a few weeks earlier and stopped using BC. Apparently we got the timing right because we got a positive the first go around. I kind of thought I was pregnant but didn't want to test too early (my period had been earlier than expected the month before so I wasn't sure what was happening with my cycle). I figured if I didn't have it by Saturday I'd POAS. DH was home and he looked at the test first and was, like, "oh this means not positive, right?" I looked and sure enough, it was positive.
With DD1 we had been trying for a few months, and I was temping, etc. I happened to be on a work trip (at an army base, so not easy to get to a store!) and was expecting to get my period during the trip. Never happened and my temp tracking indicated I might be pregnant but I also though travel might be throwing that off. I tested when I got home and it was negative, tested again the next day and it was positive-- a Saturday again, so DH saw the test at the same time.
Symptoms? Constipated. Again. My hips are killing me today. I keep asking these children to be nice, but no. I'm also already getting the dried colostrum on my nips. I dont remember that happening this early with DD.
Upcoming appointments? Anatomy scan with High Risk on 8/23 (Thursday). They set aside 3 hours. Please don't take three hours. Then nothing until next month.
R/R/Q: I got DD's head cold that turned into a sinus infection. H got it and it turned into bronchitis. Now I cant kick this cough. I just need to sickness to go away!
H and I are disagreeing on everything this time around. We can't agree on names, we can't agree on color of furniture, we can't even agree on which room to turn into the nursery.
GTKY: How did you find out you were pregnant and how did you tell your SO? I was feeling really off but it was super early (8dpo). Peed on the stick. When H got home, I waved the stick in his face.
Symptoms? Lots of kicking, and often a feeling of stretching and pressure in my uterus like its getting too big for my abdomen. Otherwise, not much by way of symptoms right now which is nice!
Upcoming appointments? Our anatomy scan in Thursday! (8/23) We meet with the doctor as soon as the scan is over.
R/R/Q: I had Jury Duty today, but my number didn't get called, which was awesome! Also, our comfy PBKids glider that was supposed to take 10 weeks to ship took 2 and will be delivered on Friday. I can't wait to sit in it all the time!
GTKY: How did you find out you were pregnant and how did you tell your SO? We had actually been trying to wait another month or so (until after a trip to London and Paris about a week after the rest of this story happened), but had been using the always reliable pull out method to prevent that since I went off the pill two months earlier since we weren't that worried about it either way. My period was a few days late, but I had been testing and had been getting negatives. However, temping seemed to suggest that I could be pregnant. Finally on a Tuesday morning after a missed period on the Saturday before, I woke up at like 5 am to pee, which never happened to me. I took a test because that tipped me off a bit, but I went right back to bed because it was early and I was in a bit of denial that it would be that easy. DH got up to pee a little while later and I asked him to look at it while he was in the bathroom. He was silent, and I realized very quickly that meant it was positive. We promptly went out and bought a digital test just to make sure (the line was really faint). So basically, he found out before me, although I had an idea. He was really excited once he knew what it meant, he was just shocked an trying to make sure he really saw a line.
@mrsmang I've been getting a lot of that pressure in my uterus, too. It's pretty uncomfortable sometimes. Good luck at your upcoming scan!
@MrsHudson2014 Ugh, constipation sucks. And sorry you've all been feeling sick. Hope you feel better soon.
@UnbreakableKimmySchmidt Yay for an active baby! Mine has been fairly active, too - way more than DS was. It's very reassuring.
EDD? 1/8
Symptoms? RLP, back/hip pain, lots of pressure in my uterus, lots of kicking from baby, heartburn, and insomnia. Feeling pretty well over all.
Upcoming appointments? 8/31 for regular OB appointment.
R/R/Q: Not so much a rant, but it was a weird day. I almost passed out while I was at work today. I had to excuse myself during the middle of a pt's appointment and go sit down. The provider I work with checked my BP, and it was a little high as was my pulse rate. Turns out I was dehydrated. So that was kind of alarming and embarrassing at the same time. I felt better after I drank some water and set down for a bit, but still it was not a good moment.
GTKY: How did you find out you were pregnant and how did you tell your SO? Not much of story here. We were fortunate to get pregnant on our first try. I took a test. It was positive, and I told DH right away. It was kind of a bittersweet moment since I had just miscarried 2 months before that. But we were definitely happy to find out I was pregnant again.
Symptoms? All of a sudden, I can't stomach coffee. It's made me throw up the past 2 mornings
Upcoming appointments? Just had one today, everything was good and anatomy scan is scheduled for next Monday.
R/R/Q: We finished painting the nursery and put together his dresser! Were going to order his crib next weekend and I've been making a list of things to buy and do. I've given myself a self-imposed deadline of having everything done by my birthday at the beginning of November and I think I can actually pull it off!
GTKY: How did you find out you were pregnant and how did you tell your SO? Lol sooo I found out on our 7th anniversary. I was taking a shower and started dry heaving and just had a feeling that I was pregnant. I took two tests, both positive and held onto them all day. Once dh and I finally got together that night and exchanged cards, I practically dropped the tests in his lap and kind of stood there. He had no idea what it meant and I started crying because i didn't want him to be mad. This baby wasn't entirely planned to happen right now and dh was so incredibly thrilled.
Symptoms? Pain and cramps all the time. Exhausted.
Upcoming appointments? AS on the 30th
R/R/Q: At my 16 week appointment, we couldn’t find a reason for the bleeding. At my 19 week appointment, we saw that the placenta has grown over the cervix rather than away. That was a bit depressing to find. I’ll know more after my AS. I’m really hoping it starts going up.
GTKY: How did you find out you were pregnant and how did you tell your SO? I had suspected since I ovulated twice. I thought we were in the clear and then, oh hey, I’m gonna drop another egg for ya. I tested at 9dpo and it was super positive. I cried. For days. Especially since it wasn’t planned, we don’t have insurance, and I worked away from home at the time. I got a card that said “Sorry, I really effed up,” because I had told the H that we were in the clear and I felt terrible (I taped the test inside the card). He was far more excited than I thought he would be.
Symptoms? I'm feeling so much better lately and I'm loving it. RLP, constipation, baby boy is so low so all his kicking can be a bit painful when sitting at work. I love that many of us have such active little ones!
Upcoming appointments? End of the month, regular OB appt and my AS next day
R/R/Q: I also got sick at work yesterday. I was scanning some papers and started getting hot, light headed, and sweaty. Let me tell you, I don't sweat often. I went to the restroom did a #2 and went back to my desk with a glass of water. Still felt so sick. I ended up needing to go back to the bathroom to lie on the couch (thank God for that couch). I almost fell asleep! I pulled myself together and went back to work after a few minutes and within an hour it passed. Reminded me how happy I am that 1st tri sickness was gone!
GTKY: How did you find out you were pregnant and how did you tell your SO?
We thought we were done so when I started feeling sick we weren't sure what we were going to do. I took a test, it was positive. I kept it to myself a few days and just told SO I missed my period (which is always irregular). A few days later he asked if we were going to be parents again. I said I think so and took another test, positive again but faint so he was acting like he wasn't positive even though my period was about 2 weeks late by now. Ugh, that wasn't a fun time. I had to call my endocrinologist and go see nuclear medicine to ensure baby would be clear of any radiation. We both felt better once I was given the all clear. But man, that was a stressful time. It makes me happy to hear all of your positive stories!
Heartburn, tired, huge appetite, decreased motivation, left jaw hurts
Upcoming appointments?
20wk & AS next Tuesday!!
R/R/Q:
I've gained half the weight I wanted to gain the whole pregnancy, which has been surprising. I'm hoping part of it is bloating, so hopefully it'll balance out in the end and I'll only gain 30-35lbs again. Nonetheless, my body will do what it wants, so I'm trying to focus on eating healthy(ish) and working out regularly. I'm REALLY nervous for later in this trimester, as that's when I got extremely itchy with DD and I'm hoping that's a symptom I'll skip this time. Last rant: I wish I didn't have an anterior placenta. All the talk of everyone having active babies makes me a little frustrated, because I can't really feel anyything except maybe one or two movements a day.
Rave: I'm SO GLAD to have passed my test and that's behind me. I talk to HR tomorrow about what to do now that I'm a MHPro and the raise and credentialling and all that fun stuff. Also rave: we got DD a kitchen yesterday and kitchen accessories, and it's SO FUN watching her pretend play with it!
GTKY: How did you find out you were pregnant and how did you tell your SO?
We were not TTC yet and about 4 months away from that. We wanted to skip this cycle because baby would be due just after Christmas and 2 weeks before DD birthday. I was using the natural planning method and tracking everything, right down to BBT. For months I ovulated around CD17, and usually I have about a week of watery CM before O. Well, I had just started getting watery CM and on CD10 told DH that I was still about a week away from O. We DTD without pulling out, then HAHA my body ovulated on CD13. I took a test 10dpo and got a super faint positive, then again a few days later it was more positive. I was in denial for a few days, but not necessarily unhappy. Just not ready. I told DH when he came home from work. In about a few weeks we both felt much more at peace and happy about it. We're totally ready for a baby, we just didn't want his birthday to be in the middle of January.
Symptoms? Swollen feet merp. Other than that feeling good. Starting to look more pregnant, less bloated.
Upcoming appointments? Anatomy scan on 8/31! I'll be 21 weeks then, wish it was sooner but that's when they could get me in.
R/R/Q: Rant-My cat kept me and H up most of last night meowing- I got back from vacation yesterday and she was so excited to see me. I'm so dead today.
Rant- I got sunburned at the beach in some weird places- inside my inner thighs/crotch area, a line around where my top was, tops of feet, and top of stomach/bump. I applied and reapplied SPF 50 but still got burned #palelyfe
Raves- my work is planning a baby shower for me and inviting the whole department. I won't like the attention, but will like the food and presents. And its nice that they care and are putting in the effort. We're doing an 'actual' baby shower at our house for friends and family before then.
GTKY: How did you find out you were pregnant and how did you tell your SO? We decided to start trying the month that I was set to graduate with my MS, which was the month I was finishing up classes and taking finals. I had been tracking my cycles for several months, including CM and ovulation with cheap sticks, so knew pretty well when I would ovulate. Anyway, we tried around late April for several days prior to and including when I was set to ovulate. I remember my 2nd to last week of classes walking out and feeling like my boobs were bigger and sort of moving around?, which was so weird, so started wondering if I could be pregnant or if it was just a PMS symptom. I took a cheapie test that evening (I had a pack of 20 from Amazon), which was still about 5 days before my period was due. Lo and behold it was very faintly positive. To be sure I went to Walgreens and paid for the First Response test, which was undeniably positive. Honestly I thought it would take us a year or so to get preggo, so was shocked. I texted my H a cryptic message and waited for him to get home. When he got home he asked what I meant, and I explained. He just went 'Whaaaaaaaat?' and was like smiley and utterly in shock as he also thought it would take quite some time. We both tend to assume the worst and over prepare, haha. And there it was, confirmed with the Dr. the next week and made an appt with the midwives. Unfortunately my finals were the week after I found out, and focusing on studying was nearly impossible but somehow got through lol.
R/R/Q: rant: having a really hard time being comfortable. One of the babies has taken to the left side of my stomach, making me look frumpy and lopsided (not to mention said baby is wanting to nestle up by my ribs). The whole thing is just uncomfortable, especially when trying to sleep.
rave: my new work schedule is working cohesively and rather flawlessly with my school schedule (and my appointment schedule!). And I've unpacked a good portion of our stuff into the apartment, so it's finally feeling like we have a home again.
GTKY: How did you find out you were pregnant and how did you tell your SO? We weren't trying for a baby (we hadn't been dating for very long). I was on BC and had missed a day, but thought I was in the clear. I honestly hadn't thought anything was up because I had some bleeding around normal period time. It wasn't until I missed the following period that I realized something was definitely up. Did some mental/finger math, realized it would coincide, and decided to test. I made fresh bread for my SO that night and I decided to be punny and say I had a bun in the oven. It took me almost 2 hours after that to convince him I was in fact pregnant and not just playing one giant joke on him lol.
