  • @NinnyJean I'm glad they will let you try vbac!

@mrsman2018 weird that they are having you wait so long when you will be seeing a different OB for the appointment anyways. I saw my doctor's backup last week because she was on vacation. I would also call for the results, fingers crossed for negative for you!

@JLyn821 I have my 39er this week too (39+4) and will be having the sweep if I'm dilated. Ob talked about it doing last week but I wasn't dilated yet.
A sweep did nothing when I was expecting DS. I had multiple sweeps with him. A sweep got early labor started with DD. She was born 23 hours after my sweep. FX a sweep does the trick this time, too.

  • @JLyn821 darn it... I was hoping you'd pass along the good sweep vibes. When you didn't spot with your DS, how much longer was it until you had him?

  • @jlyn821 I guess every doctor is different, but I had a sweep at 38w last time, never spotted, and had DD at 38w3d despite being fully closed and no where near effaced when the sweep occurred.
  • @smsaulino I had a sweep at my 40 and 41 week appointments with DS. He still came at 41+6 on his own.

@Patience7150 I’m amazed you could get a sweep at all if you weren’t dilated at all.

  • Dr could not tell if baby was head down at my 38 week appointment today. Honestly, I'm a bit irritated that they did not thoroughly check until this point. I have an ultrasound scheduled for Thursday but I have read that ECV is much more effective before this stage in pregnancy. Let's hope baby girl really is head down....I'm having trouble thinking of having a c-section since it would mean I couldn't pick up ds for weeks afterward. Sorry for being such a downer, I'm sure everything will work out for the best. I'm just having trouble wrapping my head around all of this so late in the game. Any words of advice on a c- section vs an ecv at this point?
  • EErin86  Yeah, it felt odd. I called 4x today to make sure they do not want to see me for 2.5 weeks, but voicemail all times. I will call again tomorrow. I could have my baby by then ...

You'd think they would have checked before now. Last pregnancy DD was breech and at 37 weeks I was sent for and US and then was scheduled for a CS at 39 weeks.
I wanted to avoid a CS this time but it looked grim because each appt, my OB would tell me baby is breech, but at my 35 week appt this week, she used the handheld US thing and it showed head down.
Hoping your babe is head down as well. Picking up a toddler while recovering from a CS would not be fun. I had come to terms with the CS though as I was not prepared to do an ECV. For me, the pain, low success rate and risk of an emergency delivery were not something I was prepared to deal with. But everyone is different.
  • Had my 37 week appt on monday.  I was 1cm 50% effaced and -1 station. Dr said i had made alot of progress from last week (i was only 1cm and not effaced and a -3 station).  Dr. made it seem that she thought i could go soon.  I had my 1st daughter a few days before 37 weeks.   I've been having alot of lower back/hip pain today
  • @franklynns Don't worry exactly the same happened to me last week at 37+5, I had to go for a scan to check baby's position two days later. Baby is head down and was in exactly the position I thought they were in based on the movements I've been feeling.
  • Thanks for the encouraging words!!!
  • 35+5: Dr checked me today to see if I was dilated at all; not even a cm yet.. Afterwards tells me my pelvis may be too small/narrow to deliver vaginally
  • 39 week appt. yesterday. Another one where the OB came in measured belly - normal, Doppler - normal, asked me if I had any questions, thanked me for being a "boring" patient and told me to get outta here. lol I'll be interested to see if I make it to my appointment next week. DD arrived (after 12 hrs or so of labor) 2 days after her EDD. I know they won't let me go past 41 weeks and are happy to schedule an elective induction anytime after 39 weeks based on the latest research. But I'm definitely not interested in inducing, so hopefully he'll come on his own before then.

  • @cab1209 like @Car0liiine said, it’s pretty rare for a woman to have a pelvis so small she can’t physically deliver a baby that is positioned correctly. It’s also almost impossible to tell before she goes into labor unless there’s some obvious abnormality in your pelvis. Good luck!
  • @cab1209 What? So how is that just coming up? I'd take that comment with a grain of salt. Unless you have an abnormality in the shape of your pelvis, I think it is rather rare for a woman's pelvis to just be too small for her to vaginally deliver her baby. I mean that's the only natural exit so . . . Not saying it couldn't be the case, just don't want you to end up pressured into a section without good reason.
All of this. @cab1209 Unless there is X-ray proof, your doc has no proof that you can’t have your baby vaginally. Don’t let them pressure you into a section. It amazes me how many doctors say this crap when they have no idea how big their patients’ pelvises are.

Or how big the baby is. US can be off by up to 2lbs. That’s a pretty big difference
