What number are you trying for?  3

    Cycle/Month? 3/2

    WTO/TWW? TWW

    Ages of other child(ren)? 5 & 3

Any thoughts about this cycle? I thought I was out at first because timing was off, but I have been having a couple of symptoms that I had both other times.

    Any questions? Nope.

Rant/Rave/Brag: My 3 year old taught himself to swing this weekend while I was cleaning! He was so proud of himself that he pretty much just swang all weekend. I was super proud of him, but I am even more excited I don't have to stand and swing him anymore!

GTKY: What is something you want to do for yourself this week? While I am traveling for work I plan on having lunch by myself with a book and not looking or talking to anyone! Enjoy my silence!
  • @klmcguire Good luck with this cycle! That's so great about your 3yo :) My 4yo is only now getting interested in swinging but has absolutely no desire to pump his legs. He just shakes them in the air scissor-style haha.

What number are you trying for? 2

    Cycle/Month? 1/1

    WTO/TWW? WTO

    Ages of other child(ren)? 4

Any thoughts about this cycle? I am nervous, mostly. With DS I got KU on the first try at 31. Five years later and a world of wacky health shifts, I have no idea what this will be like.

Any questions? Those with more than 1, how many months TTC did it take for your 2nd vs your 1st? What age were you?

Rant/Rave/Brag: I still have this UTI. The awesome supplement I was taking relieved symptoms but made me very gassy so I took a pause from it at bedtime last night. Woke up with UTI sensations again so maybe it was just temporarily relieving the irritation.. I really do not want to take antibiotics in the midst of starting a new and really expensive probiotic. Waiting for a reply from my naturopath now..

GTKY: What is something you want to do for yourself this week? Get rid of this UTI? haha. I also wanted to go buy some earrings for myself yesterday but have had DS all to myself all weekend, hopefully I can have a few moments to myself this week. Can't wait until school starts back up!

    Cycle/Month? 3/3

    WTO/TWW? WTO

Ages of other child(ren)? 14.5 months

Any thoughts about this cycle? Hoping to get good timing.

Any questions? Do you remember how many ear infections your LO's got in the first year? My little guy is on #5 right now. We got referred to a specialist about getting tubes but I have been putting it off because I don't really want my little guy to have surgery. I don't think I can put it off much longer.  :'(

Rant/Rave/Brag: I am trying to style DS's hair every day this week. He got a hair cut over the weekend so it's short enough to make a super adorable faux hawk! I am 90% sure he has mastered the phrase "all done", so we've been hearing that more and more. And he's been using "Dada" a heck of a lot more. It's honestly kind of a relief because he wasn't saying anything tangible for the longest time!

GTKY: What is something you want to do for yourself this week? Go to bed before 9:30pm every night! I had a rough Sunday (someone small wasn't feeling well and didn't sleep great), so I want to "catch up" on sleep I missed.

@klmcguire I think it's adorable that once your 3yo learned how to swing he didn't stop all weekend!

@mamanbebe Sorry about the UTI, I hope it will be better soon!!

  • mamanbebe  My 5 year old (will be 6 in a couple weeks) just learned maybe 5-6 months ago how to swing. The little brother is just a little impatient waiting for someone to help him out.

@lillywonderland We only had one, maybe 2. 5 is a lot. Poor baby and mama. I know it is so hard to think of surgery, but it is a quick one and just think how much better it will be afterwards!
  • @klmcguire Good luck! Your lunch with a book sounds glorious!
@mamanbebe have you tried cranberry capsules? Mr Dr. thought I might have had a UTI a couple years ago and told be to take them in addition to the antibiotics (it was just stress but I didn't have the traditional UTI symptoms so no clue if it would actually help).

What number are you trying for? 2

    Cycle/Month? 1/1

    WTO/TWW? WTO (or perhaps WFAF???)

Ages of other child(ren)? DD will be 1 in a week!

Any thoughts about this cycle? First cycle off the progesterone only pill so not trying until next week when DD is a year. I'm on CD 25 and still haven't had a temp shift so I don't know if I'm having an an-o cycle or just a super long follicular phase. If AF or a temp shift haven't hit, we might start trying in earnest in a couple of days, once I'm over this cold.

Any questions? If you breastfed after your first PP period, do you remember what your cycle was like? Somehow I just assumed that since I have my period back, we can start trying and I'm discouraged that I don't seem to be ovulating, even though I know I might just ovulate late this cycle.

Rant/Rave/Brag: The whole house has the cold DD brought home from daycare but her cough is pretty rough so we talked to the nurse today and have an appt. tmrw to make sure she's okay. I was also up at 5:15 when she woke up to eat but had a work thing come up so got up then and worked from 5:30-8 with a bit of getting DD ready while on mute. Now I'm relaxing while wfh to make up for it.

GTKY: What is something you want to do for yourself this week? Yoga since I can't really work out otherwise with this cold.

  • @klmcguire that's so nice that your son learned how to swing! DD isn't even 2 yet, so I think we have a lot of pushing still ahead of us. Good luck this cycle!

    @mamanbebe sorry about the UTI!

@lillywonderland sorry about your son's ear infection! We were fortunate that we didn't have to deal with any of them. I hope he feels better soon!

@kvh22 I wasn't really tracking my cycle very closely, but my first 3 PP cycles while breastfeeding were longer than they had been before pregnancy. Sorry everyone in your house is sick! I hope your daughter feels better soon!

What number are you trying for? 2

    Cycle/Month? 5/5

    WTO/TWW? WTO

Ages of other child(ren)? 21 months

Any thoughts about this cycle? None yet

    Any questions

Rant/Rave/Brag: DD is finally starting to say some more words, which has been really fun. It also makes it much easier when she can tell us what she wants from the cabinet rather than just standing there pointing at it and screaming.

GTKY: What is something you want to do for yourself this week? Paint my nails
  • Hello!  I just posted my newbie intro in the welcome thread.

What number are you trying for? 2

    Cycle/Month? 2/2

WTO/TWW? Unsure, I think WTO but tomorrow should be TWW

Ages of other child(ren)? 22 months

Any thoughts about this cycle? Only doing OPKs for now (last time temping always synced up so I stopped after five months and just used OPKs).  I thought I should get a positive today but then there wasn’t even a second line, they had been getting darker the last four days.  I’m going to test again later, maybe it was just too early in the day.  My hopes are sky-high and that is just unrealistic.  I’ve very annoyed with myself.

Any questions? Eh, just my ramblings about my OPK today.

Rant/Rave/Brag: Really trying to not let TTC consume me like it did last time. This time around I know a lot so hopefully, I can chill out.

GTKY: What is something you want to do for yourself this week? Swim some laps, this is hard to do as while in the pool my little guy only wants mama.  I am ordering way too many add-ons in my fabfitfun box, first time doing it and am pretty excited.

  • @kvh22 I'm still breastfeeding right now and I got a period at 9 months pp, then 11 month pp and it has been pretty consistent since then (14.5 months pp now - although before I got pregnant I had 28 day cycles and now I'm at about 30 days). *TMI* my periods are so much worse pp.

@allegram16 Good luck painting your nails! I've been trying to find time to paint my toes for the last 6 months. LOL!

@jhems776 Welcome! I hope your stay here is short and sweet.

  • @klmcguire yay for swinging! That sounds like fun! And good luck with your cycle!

@mamanbebe sorry about your UTI. I have only been pregnant once (that I know about) but anecdotally, a bunch of the moms I know got pregnant with their second in the first month. But guess what? Didn't happen for me.

@lillywonderland and @allegram16 yay for more words! It's such a relief when they do what you've been waiting for them to do.

@kvh22 I hope you all feel better soon!

@jhems776 good luck with not letting TTC consume you! I thought I'd be more chill this time around but I'm not.

What number are you trying for? 2

    Cycle/Month? 2/2

WTO/TWW? not sure... I think I O'd yesterday but I won't know for sure until I have 3 days of high temps

    Ages of other child(ren)? 2

Any thoughts about this cycle? Meh... definitely not getting my hopes up

    Any questions? No

Rant/Rave/Brag: I have many rants, so I apologize. #1 I'm already sick of TTC and it's only 2 months in. Honestly, I don't want to try the next couple of months because I don't want the next baby to have a similar birthday to my daughter. I guess I'm just irritated that this is going to take longer than I thought because of how many moms I've talked to who just got KU the first time they tried. #2 Our dog is having weird hip pain and I'm terrified she has a bad back (she's a Dachshund); and frustrated because it JUST came on so suddenly without warning. I'm trying not to get my hopes up but I'm also hoping it will just go away... Steeling myself for a huge vet bill though when we're already swamped with debt. #3 Goddamn toddler won't take her nap!!!

GTKY: What is something you want to do for yourself this week? I have plans to do some workouts but that's about it. Nothing out of the ordinary!

  • @riff323 I'm sorry about TTC stresses :( Thanks for your reply though. Also, I'm sorry to hear about your pup. I have a Border Collie who went through something similar recently, nothing showed up in x-ray so it seems like it was groin tear or something else soft tissue. The recommendations from the vet were no stairs, no jumping up or down, no walks, only taking out on leash to for potty breaks. It did get better in our situation, not 100% but a good enough improvement that she can function day to day without struggling.
  • @klmcguire - Aw I'll bet that was fun watching him swing!

@mamanbebe - I know this wasn't exactly your question, but it took us 10 months (2 months NTNP, 8 months TTC) to have my DD. This time around we are on month 4, so we'll see! Hopefully you'll get KU easily again.

@lillywonderland - My DD is only 10 months, but she's only had one ear infection so far. Hopefully you can avoid the surgery!

@kvh22 - My first period was 8 weeks PP, then I had an 82 day cycle, 41, 41, and finally 28. All while BFing. Are you still BFing?

@allegram16 I can't wait for DD to start talking!

What number are you trying for? 2

    Cycle/Month? 4/4

    WTO/TWW? WTO

Ages of other child(ren)? 10 months

Any thoughts about this cycle? I know it's still early in the cycle, but my hopes were so high last month that now I just feel really depressed and am settling in for the long haul. Hoping I get KU faster than last time.

Any questions? What are the best road-trip things you have to amuse your kids?

Rant/Rave/Brag: My sister's wedding is this weekend and I'm so ready for this stress to be over with. It's also a 13 hour trip...with a 10 month old. So I'm expecting to be tearing out my hair and some point.

GTKY: What is something you want to do for yourself this week? Finish the book I've been reading.
  • @mamanbebe I'm really glad to hear about your Border collie! I'm hoping for something similar.

@marebear15 I totally hear you on feeling out of sorts about TTC already. I was convinced I was pregnant last cycle and just feel bummed out now about settling in for the long haul. Maybe you'll get lucky!

@kvh22 she FINALLY fell asleep! DH thinks it wouldn't be bad if the kids had close birthdays too, so it's nice to hear your input as someone who has lived it.
  • @riff323 Did you have trouble TTC your first?
  • @riff323 and @marebear15 I feel you on feeling like you're settling in for the long haul. I was pretty convinced last month was our month too. I've been feeling a little conflicted about it though because, while I would love a second child, I'm really really not looking forward to going through the newborn phase again. I felt like it was just really hard and there is really nothing I miss about it. Maybe it's easier the second time around? Though having a toddler/preschooler at the same time as a newborn seems impossible to me!
  • @marebear15 no, we were fortunate to have conceived in 6 months the first time around. I'm just being a big grouch about the whole thing.
  • @allegram16 oh I so hear you on that! I hated the newborn phase so much.
  • @riff323 and @allegram16 - I didn't enjoy the newborn phase either, but I think I was just trying to hard to do everything the forums, and articles, and google told me to do. If you do this...then this. Yeah no. Next time around I'm just going to enjoy everything and not worry about getting baby to sleep in a bright room with a tv on and no paci and definitely not in a swing or nursing to sleep! lol
  • Chiming in, I loathed the newborn phase, maybe the worst three months of my life!  Very scared to go through it again and with a toddler.

@lillywonderlandMy little guy had one at three months and then none till 15 months he had a double, another double at 16 and a single at 17 (all over the winter).  The docs said if he has more we would talk tubes but *knocks* we have been clear.

  • @marebear15 and @jhems776 I wholeheartedly agree with both of you!
  • @riff323 glad she's finally down!

@marebear15 Yup, still BFing. Sounds like I just need to be prepared for a longer go of it. I was also reading about shorter luteal phases caused by immature ovulation that produces an egg that is less likely to be fertilized. *sigh*
For road trips at that age, do you use a wubbanub? Someone suggested having a bucket/bag/some other container of toys to hand one at a time to them when they throw them. We have 2 wubbanubs we cycle through if DH and I are both in the front on a trip like that. I don't love sitting in the back seat but I've also done that. They tend to go everywhere but I've also given her the little munchkin snack container filled with puffs. She also usually sleeps more the few times we've done long road trips since she sleeps so well in the car but not sure if that's your LO's MO.

    Babysizer Cravings Pregnancy Baby Tracker

  • @kvh22 - I keep telling myself that until I wean, I shouldn't feel bad that I'm not KU, but all signs point to me being fertile: I'm ovulating at a regular time, I have a good LP (12 days last month), etc.
I've never used a wubbanub because DD takes the flat pacis not the round ones. Last time we went on a road trip was in May when she was 7ish months old, and she only took 3 short naps the whole 10 hour drive. And now she's even more active with walking. I can't even get her to sit still for a story time. So far, I have a couple of dvds in case she likes watching them (she's too busy to watch anything at home), snacks, and a bag of toys. But she gets so bored with baby toys. I'm thinking about bring a bag of stuff she's never seen before, like a hairbrush, a piece of paper to tear up, an empty bottle.
  • @marebear15 we brought new stuff for our daughter on her first plane trip last month and it really helped! One of the best things we got was a little Magnadoodle at Dollar Tree.
  • Just adding, also not a fan of the newborn phase. Can I please just pop out a 6 month old?

    Any questions? None

Rant/Rave/Brag: We just traveled back home. It was about a 20 hour airplane journey and I’m glad it’s done. DD has jet lag last night and was up for 3 hours. She’s still sleeping tonight but now I’m awake at 2:00am. Bleh.

Any questions? How do you temp consistently if you're still waking in the night? 1 yr old usually wakes to nurse between 3-5 am and then is up for the day between 7-8am.

@kvh22 I got my period back at 8 mo pp and then didn't have another for 70 days. My cycles are super irregular anyways, but if you're still nursing regularly it can definitely mess with your cycles.

@marebear15 sorry you're feeling down this cycle. We got KU first cycle trying with our older daughter and our second daughter took a year and a half of trying, plus a round of Clomid. It's such a mind game. FX this cycle is it for you!

    @riff323 I’m sorry that’s all so hard.
@marebear15 when DS was 2 we drove 6 hours to Chicago and another 6 when we were in TX. The only thing that saved us was iPad with Little Einstein episodes downloaded and we planned a route so we’d have a park to stop at about half way.

Any thoughts about this cycle? To soon to tell anything, I hope DH gets to feeling better, he's throwing off the EOD HIO

Any questions? Nothing that I can think of.

Rant/Rave/Brag: I'm starting to get sad/nervous about DS starting preschool in September. I return to work this week,part-time, and I'm already somewhat sad about missing that time with him. Last spring when I started working PT I was so ready to get outside of the home and doing something productive, that wasn't school, but it's different this year for some reason. I think it's the realization that he's getting old enough to be in school and I like him with me when I want.

What number are you trying for? This is a hard question for me to answer. I’m going to say our 4th even though we only have one living child.

Cycle/Month? I was benched for 6 months after the delivery of my twin sons last year. cycle 2 off the bench. 1st cycle resulted in a blighted ovum.

WTO/TWW? I think I might be in the TWW

Ages of other child. DD is 2

Any thoughts about this cyclejust want it to be a short one so I’m not left guessing

Any questions? I have heard 3 years old is much worse than 2. Thoughts on moms with older kids?

Rant/Rave/Brag: DD said I love you mama to me today and my heart melted.

GTKY: What is something you want to do for yourself this week? drink all the wine
  • @meatballs37 I’m so sorry about the loss of your sons, fingers crossed for you this cycle.

On older children, 3 was insanity and 2 felt like a precious little bubble of time that reopened the conversation of a second child for us. Three weeks before turning 3 my son became super wild all the time day and night. It seemed like the exorcist was written about putting my 3yo to bed at night. Four is a little more chill but the tantrums are very real. Newborn time seems like a dream in retrospect and I’m really hopeful to enjoy that time more than I allowed myself as a new mom.
  • @mamanbebe so what you are saying is I have a year to conceive before DH changes his mind about adding another child? Lol! I wonder why they say it’s the terrible 2’s when it should really be 3 then.

I wish I could say I enjoyed the newborn stage with DD but she had colic for months and cried constantly. It set me on edge constantly as a FTM
  • @rtv3 - I'm also getting up in the middle of the night with DD. Most of the time it's at 2, so I'm good for 3 hours before I temp. But if she does get up later, I temp at the same time but check "sleep deprived" so it gives me an open circle, and doesn't put as much weight on it. If your kiddo always gets up at say 4am, you could try to always temp at that time.

@klmcguire were you in the Sept 2012 birth month club?

Rant/Rave/Brag: dd starts kindergarten tomorrow and I'm not ready. I can't walk her to class per school rules and I'm trying to decide if it would be okay to join her at lunch on the first day or just wait until next week when she's settled.

GTKY: What is something you want to do for yourself this week? Just to get more rest.

    Edited for missing words
  • @rtv3 I wake up a lot at night too - sometimes because of DD, but usually just because I'm a freak with anxiety. I'm lucky because my temps don't get thrown off too much, so I try to temp at the same time each morning even if I haven't had the 3 hour block of sleep they recommend. Maybe try that approach and see how it looks?

@asupernovablizzardstorm aww good luck to you tomorrow! I can't even imagine... I'm freaked out about DD going to school and she's only 2!
  • @asupernovablizzardstorm I was for like 2 weeks, then moved into the August2012 group!
  • @marebear15 ah yes the struggle of temping with a LO who is getting up. That’s our issue right now too. DD is up several times a night and I have a hard time falling back asleep.

We suspect the 2 year sleep regression, but when in doubt blame it on teething I guess.

is three hours all you need for an accurate nasal temp? It’s been a while since I have read TCOYF.
  • @lillywonderland First of all, hugs.  Making the decision about tubes can be so difficult.  We were in your same shoes and ended up getting tubes.  For a while there, I was trying to find every excuse or study or whatever to justify not getting tubes.  In the end, we went for it and it was the biggest relief.  Before the tubes, I had been stressing constantly about whether he had another infection and worried at every sign of a runny nose.  Once we had the tubes done, I was able to breathe again.  It was absolutely the right decision for us and it was such an easy procedure!  Feel free to PM me, I have detailed out our experience the day of the tubes for a couple of friends of mine and would be happy to share it with you.

@kvh22 I was still breastfeeding after getting my first PP period and the first few cycles my O was about a week or so later than normal.  My LP was only 8 days the first couple of cycles and then went to 10+ after that.

Any thoughts about this cycle? We had really good timing this cycle, but since it's only our first month trying, I'm not banking on anything. The last 2 cycles I've had spotting a few days before O and that's never happened before. I know that I have a fibroid and endo, and those could cause that, but I'm wondering if I should bring it up to my OB, or if I should just wait to see what happens over the next few cycles.

    Any questions? Not right now.

Rant/Rave/Brag: DS turned 1 yesterday! DH and I took the day off of work to celebrate his b-day and it was such a fun day!

GTKY: What is something you want to do for yourself this week?  It's week 1 of my 8 week 10k training program, so I really need to get a lot of running/working out in. I also would really like a night where I can put on my charcoal face mask, eat ice cream, and catch up on my tv shows :)
  • @lillywonderland I had tubes at about age 4. I remember the pain of the ear infections (ruined a Disney World trip) but I don't remember the surgery at all if that helps.

@Sparty18 & @rtv3 thanks for the info. It sounds like it's a little different for everyone but that I'm basically looking at 2-4 months of inconsistency right now. DH will enjoy BD'ing every day "just in case" which is what we did for baby #1 when my cycles were crazy from work stress and coming off the pill.

@meatballs37 I am so sorry to hear about your sons.

@asupernovablizzardstorm good luck to you and your DD with Kindergarten!

@rtv3 WRT temping, I don't have a solution right now but DD wakes up between 5 & 6:30 so I'm kind of in the same boat. We just night weaned (for the 3rd time b/c of travel and sleep regressions) so it's not super consistent. yet I might start setting an alarm for 5:30 to temp so it's consistent but I don't trust DD to stay in this mode (and a later wake up would obviously be preferred). If you have a consistent schedule, then I'd set an alarm/just make sure you temp every day at 4am OR at 7am.

I'm taking DD to the doctor today to check on her cough. They said the air quality has been so bad (wildfires 3+ hours from here) that they've had a lot of people in with lung issues lately. Hoping she's fine and it's a pointless visit. I just realized I sent her lunch with her to daycare but she's going to miss lunch time so...need to figure that out.
