Hello,
We had our "20 week" anatomy scan done at 18 weeks 4 days. In the radiologist reading it was noted that the found a 7mmx8mm Choroid Plexus Cyst on the left of baby's brain. Our Dr. assured us that this commonly goes away by weeks 30-32 but then ordered that we do lab work to test for Down Syndrome.
Trying to stay positive but its been hard going from this will resolve to your baby may have a genetic disorder.
Has anybody else had an experience similar? We won't have the results back until the 14-15th of August.
Re: 20 week scan-- Choroid Plexus Cyst
Her cyst was depleted by 30 weeks.
The blood work gives a ratio of down syndrome it's not a positive or negative test. Upon our level 2 ultrasound and genetics counciling, after the anatomy scan they gave us the result of our kiddo being 1:10,000 chance of having it. She was born healthy.
Try not to worry, if it makes you feel better get the screening, talk to your doctor with any questions, and we were th old the cyst is not uncommon at all. Best wishes!
My doctor wasn't concerned at all. She said more babies then you even know have them. Technology has advanced so much we can actually see them now versus when our mom's were pregnant. She said majority of them are gone prior to birth. My son is now 22 months.
I am pregnant again now and had my 20 week scan about a month ago. I asked the tech if baby girl had one as well and she said no. She also mentioned that even if she did they don't even report them to doctors anymore since they are so common. They will only report if there are other signs that could make up the possibility of an abnormality.
Try not to worry just yet : )
