Re: WTF Wednesday!! 8/8

  • WTF to Buy Buy Baby. I swear all of the "big items" that I love keep getting discontinued and I'm struggling to find replacements...
  • Loading the player...
  • @sammierose464 I have so much on my buy buy baby registry that is discontinued! Not the super big items but lots of things to help round out the registry! Very frustrating!
I am a B today. Thankfully dh isn't around the house to deal with my wrath but that is also part of the reason I am going WTF. He took the week off of work to work on the house and nursery and it is Wednesday and he hasn't done anything in the house yet. He keeps going to help other members of his family which is nice but you didn't take vacation to help them. I can only do so much to help you before (and after) baby is here.
  • WTF to landscaping companies that say you are on their list to get a project completed and tell you it won't be more than 2-3 weeks until they come and do it. A month and a half later and we are still waiting...and we are out of town for two weeks after next week so of course that will be when they want to come I'm sure.
    Pregnancy Ticker

  • @SweetSweetTooth I'd be super annoyed. Especially since you guys need to get things set up for baby. I get upset when DH decides to go out and socialize when there's stuff to do around the house.

@chyvie I can't even imagine! My cousin got married and bought a house while pregnant and I don't know how she did it.
  • @sammierose464 Ugh yes!! I had a crib on there that got discontinued and then I found a replacement and when I added it to registry it said unavailable.. BUT I was able to purchase it just not off the registry.. Weird.

  • @sammierose464 yep, that happened to my high chair. My mom's friends had to buy it elsewhere and then my mom hinted that I should take it off the registry.
  • Football season is starting, so our weekend's are pretty much shot from here on out. I told H last night he still better get stuff done or I'll lose it. We've still got a bunch of small things to do around the house that I'm not forgetting about, so the longer he puts it off, the harder it will be for him (and more bitchy I will be about it).
  • @hannaht8516 Omg, football season, every year I'm like "already?!"  DH hasn't said anything about fantasy yet.  He either knows better and isn't doing it or is scared to mention it to me haha.

Haha! @KFrob I should've calculated football into my weekends busy vs weekends left before due date count. Totally forgot. Now we're f-ed.

ETA: my husband did a fantasy draft while we were doing a venue walk-through before our wedding. *eye roll*
  • Both of us play fantasy football...the year we got married, I won 2nd! convenient that our room for the honeymoon was above the lobby so we could get on their WiFi, since the rooms were tech free.

I will give even less shits this season, and will totally wing the draft again like I always do lol. Also praying that the Texans don't have a home game when I go into labor because my hospital is right next to the stadium.
  • I know first hand moving while pregnant is the worst! I did it twice during my last pregnancy, once at 5 months and again at 9. Both times the landlords kicked us out. The first time the owner decided to sell the property and the second time at 38 weeks the landlord told us we had 3 weeks to get out because she got busted for a lead paint violation!

I'm going to add to the WTF Buy Buy Baby.  I ordered a K'Tan carrier from them and excitedly just went out side to get it.  I open the box and they sent the wrong size.  I just checked my order and sure enough I ordered the right size.  I don't have a store near me so now I need to go through the hassle of returning/exchanging it through the mail.

@Kfrob ugh that's annoying. Go ahead and call them and see what they can do. I thought their customer service was good. I called last week because I thought we had a lost/stolen package and they offered to ship another out to me for free.
  • +1 for fantasy football dread. I'm not a sports fan but married one who loves hockey, baseball and football and does fantasy leagues for all of them. Luckily he really only watched football religiously.

@jemmerjams we went on our honeymoon the last week of the fantasy league and DH had to watch the games instead of going on the sunset lobster boat cruise the resort our friend had booked us as a gift. I was kind of pissed but he then reminded me that I said in my vows that I would always let him and his friends have football Sunday (my own words) He ended up winning $3000 so it made it worth it.
Our house is open door on Sundays and we have about 4-6 people show up.

  • WTF to work. My department is down to just 2 people, and we are swamped. I'm not gonna make it another 6 weeks...
  • @nasalot188 I'm sorry that work seems to keep getting more and more frustrating for you and that they don't seem to care about a contingency plan while you're out.
  • @chyvie +1 to moving while pregnant. We close on the 24th. This couldn't have been worse timing, but at least we'll be in before our other kids start school next month and the baby's due date. Right now it's just tiresome packing and unpacking  (sellers gave us the key early). Alot that I usually help my husband with during moves is out of the question now (taking apart/putting together bed frames, heavy lifting, etc )
  • WTF to one of the OBs at the practice I go to. Most of the OBs at the practice are young and up to date and great, but this one old guy is...old. And sorry, but I dont do old doctors for a reason- they tend to practice more old school medicine and are not always up to date and suck at modernization. Well, this guy proved it. I saw him for my last appt 3 weeks ago since my OB was helping with a birth. He did my exam and kind of passed off any concerns of mine as just 'dont worry' as opposed to explaining to talking about anything. Anyway, he never scheduled my growth scan for today. He told me they usually do a growth scan at 31-33 weeks, so I assumed he marked that. Nope. So I brought my mom to see the u/s since she wanted to see one and guess who didn't get one today! Me! My actual OB was annoyed also but she tried to stay professional. Ugh, really hoping he is not the doctor on call when I go into labor. I do not trust him.
  • @chyvie @ummibtihaj Add another to moving. We've moved out of our house to my mom's basement while we sell. Hopefully soon... so many things I can't do to help. I'm paying to have it cleaned because I can't do it. Ugh.
Then we move again at 6w pp ish. I'm due the 27th and we close mid Dec. So yeah, it'll be fun. Both ways. Though I originally thought we chose mid Jan - early Feb, so at least I'll still be on leave.
  • @pumpkinpancake ugghhh this is my pet peeve! I have my last event of the season Oct 11-14 (super timing, I'm due Oct 20), and I can't get the contact to answer more than one question per email, or more than two emails in a row. I can be very wordy, but I made super sure to keep the questions brief and clear in my last email, and I even numbered them, 1 through 3. He answered 1.
  • @pumpkinpancake and @melbo444 I would like to add to this.  I hate it when they don't read your name in the email.  My first name is a name that has a bunch of spellings and people constantly spell it wrong.  Not only are all my emails signed, but my email address is my full name.
  • @kfrob yes to this too! Just yesterday morning I had someone reply to an email I sent and addressed it to a completely different name from mine in the salutation. The only similarity to my actual name was the first letter. I mean come on people, can’t you at least get my name right?!
  • @kfrob at that point it's just rude of them.. I get people are in a rush sometimes but spelling someone's name that's already spelled out for you has to be the easiest part of an email?
  • @KFrob Omg same! I have people leave the last 'h' off of mine all the time, and I'm like "It's right there!" I go so far as googling you to make sure you're a Mr. or a Ms. when you have a unusual or unisex name, but you can't even spell my name when it's literally an eye flick away.

For the record, people in my company who I've talked to everyday for almost 6 years still do this too.
  • My co-worker's last name is Tracy. She gets called that all the time, despite her email address being firstname.tracy@... and she signs her last name
  • I don't even care that it's Thursday. WTF to the smoke detector in the lobby at work. It is currently beeping every 10 seconds. It's on a ceiling that is probably 20 feet tall, so I can guarantee nobody will be getting that fixed today. I might lose my mind.
  • @acciocoffee I feel like I'm trained that every time I hear a smoke detector noise we have to fix it immediately because my dog will freak out and start shaking uncontrollably. So even when we're not at home or even just you talking about it, I'm like "Fix it immediately! Kevin is going to get scared!"

One year we had the batteries on all our smoke detectors go out one by one about every 2 weeks. Always in the middle of the night. And I kid you not, it started in the basement and slowly worked it's way up to each smoke detector until it was upstairs. I'm sure that's what really freaked out my dog, that high pitch monster was just slowly getting closer....
  • @hannaht8516<3 that your dog is named Kevin, every time you say it it make me smile
  • @sammierose464 Haha! It's a true story!
  • WTF to my MIL. She is doing a shower for us next weekend and afterwards we are having a pool party/bbq at their house for all of our friends. Today she texted me and told me she was ordering the cake for the pool party instead of the shower because it would be fun for us to do cake guys and girls together. I said that’s fine. Then she added that she is going to also add Happy birthday on the cake for some of her friends that are coming to the pool party that have birthdays in August. Ugh really!? I know this sounds super selfish but this is the last time that DH and I will be able to celebrate something that is just about us with our friends. I don’t mind that she invited family and friends of theirs, but it was meant to be a time that we can just get together with our friends that we don’t see very often and celebrate the baby since we won’t see most of them for a while again. I am grateful that she is putting this all together, but I just feel like it’s awkward for our friends if she makes it in to a birthday party...

  • @hannaht8516 I also love that your dogs name is Kevin!

My WTF is that after a month and a half my work AC has still not been repaired. I emailed again for an update and I'm being ignored.
  • @spartan4life I mean can’t she grab a cheap grocery store cake with a happy bday for the other people to do as a side thing so you at least get a dedicated cake?  I’d be a little annoyed too.
  • @spartan4life yeah, I don't get why she feels the need to celebrate it. Like why celebrate the August birthdays specifically unless you're going to throw a party for every month of birthdays? I'm with you, I'd think it should be separate.
  • @hannaht8516 love that you have a "people" name for your dog too! My old dog is named Roy, so people sometimes give me weird looks when I say "Ugh, Roy kept rubbing his beard all over my body when I was trying to sleep" or "Roy loves to sneeze on you".
