Midweek random GTKY! This came up in conversation and I got all kinds of curious about what most people would answer. So, tell me, do you brush your teeth in the shower?

No, but I don't care if anyone else does and I don't think it's weird.
I brush my teeth in the shower sometimes. I always just thought it was a thing some people did and some didn't. Honestly never thought about it much one way or the other. Until now...
I don’t, but my husband does if he’s running late. He claims it saves time, but I don’t really see how? Although his showers are like 25-30 minutes, so I guess he has a lot of just standing around time in there. After DS was born I got used to rushing through showers as efficiently as possible
I don't but it's not weird. I spit in the sink and it drives H bananas. He is a spitter into the toilet. Lol. I think the only thing weird when it comes to brushing teeth would be to not brush at least once daily.
I don't, and while I don't think it's necessarily weird...I wouldn't want to be using hot water to brush my teeth. Also, I totally sit on the edge of the tub now while brushing my teeth so I can stand as little as possible while getting ready.

@smsaulino ummmm should we start a poll about where you spit your toothpaste so that you can prove he's crazy?????? I'm totally on your side... Unless you don't make sure the sink is rinsed after
I'm team shower brushing is weird. Do you get toothpaste drool everywhere? Is the warm water weird? Do you keep your toothbrush in the shower???
I used to do it occasionally to save time, but now our new house isn’t set up for this (free standing shower is super far from my vanity) so it probably won’t happen.
I totally used to, but now I don't necessarily shower every day, it's every other unless I get super sweaty or gross. Way too lazy to move supplies back and forth anyway even if I showered everyday I'd still have to move brush too much. What I like is being able to spit and not making a mess of shirt because apparently I'm a merry tooth brusher.
I sit on the closed toilet to brush teeth right now, because pelvis and heavy belly.

Wait. What!? Ok, this is beyond new to me... He spits his toothpaste on the toilet? I have never heard of this! I thought people only spat in the sink (or shower.)

Toothpaste drool goes evvvverrrrywhhherrre. Oh, yes. Yes it does.... Maybe? I really don't know. I feel like it doesn't. Hold on. Let me go shower and brush and report back.
@pourmeamocktail when I first started reading your comment I thought you were going to say you sit on the toilet and spit between your legs. I was gonna say that's really taking things to a whole other level!
@southernlady07 I too sit on the edge of the tub to brush my teeth these days. Usually naked or just in my undies, cause for some reason pregnancy renders me incapable of brushing my teeth without getting toothpaste on my belly at some point. So I always wait to put on my shirt until after I brush.
Ok, what about flossing? My husband's dentist actually recommended a water flosser that you hook up to the shower. Theory being that since you are already in there and it's there, you are more likely to actually remember to use it. Thoughts?
@ashh2018 that was me last pregnancy! I remember brushing fast and holding it together because puking immediately after brushing just seemed counter productive to me. Hang in there! Also I have not had that issue this time around

I recently bought a water flosser (but one that goes by the sink and is its own unit) because I just wasn't ever going to use traditional floss (its been a life long self discipline battle that I can't win). I totally love the water flosser and my dentist actually said "well good job being honest with yourself I'm glad you like it". I will say its a bit messy with the spraying water and I could totally see it being easier in the shower.
@EErin86 I have a sink side water flosser too. I way prefer it over string floss. I'm actually pretty jealous of hubby's shower flosser and want one for my shower too. I feel like I'd be so much better about using it.
But what do you do with your toothbrush??? I don't think it's all that weird except for that part. I don't like the idea of setting my toothbrush down in the shower!
Andplusalso, I have a Sonicare, so I don't think that's supposed to get soaking wet, but obviously there are other types of toothbrushes.

@stothi you and YH have separate showers?? Lucky you. Also, flossing. Yeah, that’s definitely a thing I do. For sure. (Or at least that’s what I tell the dentist every 6months) @smsaulino I have literally never heard of anyone spitting in the toilet. I try to be team “you do you” whenever possible, but I’m going to go ahead and say your husband is a weirdo
@smsaulino your H is definitely the weird one. So he puts his toothpaste and stuff on his toothbrush then stands over the toilet to spit? I definitely spit in the sink and then rinse it out.
im with @treeofcheem do you have two toothbrushes and two toothpastes so one can live in the shower? Surely you don’t just set it down on the shower ledge when you aren’t brushing so where does it go?
@klj0228 he normally walks around the apartment when brushing and just spit in the toilet afterwards. I'm going to have to be around it more because the bathroom I currently use (we were team separate bathrooms) will be Polly's changing area. I'm going to miss all the counter space for sure. H and I will be sharing a bathroom literally 1/4 the size of the other one.
@stothi H has always used the bathroom in the spare room. That room is now the nursery. I’ve asked H to move his stuff out but I suspect that bathroom will just become the boys’.
@smsaulino we are team use every bathroom in our house. We each have a poop bathroom. I use the one in the master, which used to be a guest room, and he uses the one in the basement. Then we shower, brush our teeth and tinkle in the hall bathroom. And for the record H does not brush his teeth in the shower and he spits in the sink.
One day I went to brush my teeth when my H was and was grossed out by the water temp, it was HOT not kind of warm straight up HOT. I can say neither of us brush our teeth in the shower. I've seen him spit in the toilet a couple times though..

TMI I nearly throw up every time I brush my teeth now so that wouldn’t work well anyway haha
Thoughts?

FUN FACT: Tom's of Maine toothpaste is actually meant to be used with warm/hot water. Especially the cinnamon flavour!
