This check-in is for ladies due 3/1-3/10 (or Feb. due dates)
Due date: 3/7
Any appointments? Not this week but I got Zofran called in for me to start taking. I was taking a new nausea med called Bonjesta and it wasn’t helping that much. I called the nurse and she left a message for my midwife on Friday. Today I got a text from the pharmacy that my prescription was ready for pick up! I didn’t even know she called one in!
Questions?: Any experience with Zofran? Also I posted about it on the questions feed so sorry for double asking.
How are you feeling?: Pretty much the same I’ve been feeling. Nauseous, tired, and I have a super sniffer!
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday and why? July 4th cookouts, summer, swimming, fireworks I love it all!
Any appointments? not this week. Last week I had my first prenatal and everything was looking good. According to LMP I am 9w5d but according to ultrasound I'm several days behind but not enough to change due dates at this point. She did say she may change it later depending on a few factors.
Questions?: Not really questions, more like anxieties. I'm AMA (37 at delivery) this time so that changes things (I'm going to see a high risk ob and have more frequent appointments and weekly NSTs at the end.) I'm also really worried about chromosomal abnormalities. I'm also worried about the age differences in my kids (other 2 will be 9 and almost 6 when this one is born). I don't work in the summer and am heading back in 2 weeks. I think it will be good for me to be back and work and have less time to stress about things that are out of my control.
How are you feeling?: so tired. I don't really have nausea, more like just general not feeling well. I am having so much trouble sleeping too. I hope that I'll be feeling a little better (and less anxious) in the second tri and can start enjoying my last pregnancy.
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday and why? Christmas because I just love making everything as magical as possible for the kids. Nothing makes me happier than seeing them so happy, grateful, and having the whole extended family together.
Any appointments? US in 17 days... Not like I'm counting down.
Questions?: None ATM.
How are you feeling?: Currently, exhausted and have a bit of a headache. Slightly sore boobs.
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday and why? Thanksgiving! It's one of few holidays that isn't about getting gifts but just being together and thankful for what we have. (Nevermind the Black Friday madness that follows or the nature of the true origins of the holiday)
Any appointments? We had our first appointment today! What a relief to see that little heart beat flickering heartrate was 179 ...so idk what the old wives tales say about boy or girl. we go back in a month. Genetic testing will be done in about 2 weeks. So hoping The next couple weeks will go by quickly, although I’m sure they will because we have lots of plans for the rest of the month.
Questions?: Not at this time
How are you feeling?: Feeling exhausted! Can’t wait for this to pass. Also I have been having a lot of back pain...and it’s so weird, my back and neck crack so much more often now.
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday and why? my favorite holiday is Christmas such a wonderful holiday that brings such joy to everyone. This will be the first year in our house celebrating all the holidays, so I’m excited to see how our house looks with decorations. But I’m excited to be pregnant at Thanksgiving, gonna definitely gobble till I wobble hahahahaha!
Any appointments? Not this week. Monday 3/13 is bloodwork for genetic testing and a conversational talk with my OB... wishing there was an U/S happening but alas my next U/S is not until August 24th
Questions?: Has anyone asked for an extra U/S just because? Or in a "conversational" appointment, is it possible that they'll at least reconfirm heartbeat with a doppler?
How are you feeling?: @mayoduck i think we might be the same person! very minimal symptoms. totally exhausted, and today I have a raging headache. Trying hard not to take tylenol, but might cave if this persists.
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday and why? - Christmas! I love the whole extended giant family coming together. Everything is so festive, and the food is abundant!
Questions?: Just trying to figure out prenatals. I have the gummies and no matter what time of day I take them I just want to puke. I’m not as regular as I should be due to that.
How are you feeling?: On and off pretty blah. In bursts of energy I’ll accomplish things and then just want to lie down and whine, haha
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday and why? Easter. Love the spring season start and the joy at church.
@cdiddy81 regarding the ages of your other 2 children, i was 9 when my youngest brother was born! i'm currently 31 and my brothers are 25 and 22. it's kinda nice being significantly older than they are... i remember actually being able to enjoy (and have vivid memories of) when they were babies and toddlers. it's way more fun when you're actually allowed to hold your little sibling! your kiddos will be just fine.
@indigoheightsblog lol, well I am sorry you have such a headache but too funny how in sync our bodies seem to be! I'm trying to fight taking a tylenol too. Hoping more water and a nap will take this headache out. Good luck!!
Due date: 3/3 according to me, 3/1 according to the doctor
Any appointments? Nope
Questions?: nope
How are you feeling?: I felt pretty good this weekend aside from being tired, but the nausea came back in waves today.
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday and why? It can’t choose one. I used to really love the 4th because summer is great and so are fireworks, friends and bbqing. But, it’s been different since I’ve had my son. I also love Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Any appointments? I see my OB this week and will have blood work done for genetic testing on Wednesday.
Questions?: None at the moment.
How are you feeling?: I'm really just having trouble getting to sleep lately. I have a hard time getting comfortable (too early for that!) and am up to use the bathroom multiple times a night.
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday and why? Christmas. My family has so many events around Christmas, I just love it. It gets to be a lot for my H, but there is just so much to celebrate. I love it.
Any appointments? Tomorrow-it’s our “official” first trimester ultrasound. We got one at 8 weeks, 5 days at our initial appointment and I can’t wait to see my nugget tomorrow.
Questions?: No, but thank you ladies for answers on the questions thread. While I’m a call the doctor instead of ask google girl, it’s helpful to hear your experiences!
How are you feeling?: Nauseous. I was blessed with a decent 8-9 weeks but the last 2 weeks have kicked my bottom. And def TMI, but constipation is no joke.
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday and why? Christmas! I love the lights and trees!
Any appointments? Blood work Wednesday but no real appt til next week.
Questions?: At what point should I see someone about my nausea and vomiting. It’s gotten exponentially worse the last couple days and today I can’t keep anything down. This is pretty much a rhetorical question because I’m calling tomorrow morning but it’s all I could think off
How are you feeling?: Miserable. Nausea 24/7, vomiting gotten worse/more frequent, nonstop headache and no appetite/all the aversions.
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday and why? I love Halloween because fall is my favorite but I also love Christmas. We called my grandmother the “Queen of Christmas” because she always had the most amazing decorations. She also made us pjs every year that we would open at a get together on Christmas Eve. Hasn’t been the same without her.
How are you feeling?: I’ve been extra emotional and feeling a little distant from this pregnancy. With PGAL I remember this from last time without DD. Every time I get close to an appointment I start to distance myself and I can feel myself shutting down. I think it’s my defense mechanism. This time that’s coupled with a ton of emotions from personal and work stuff so I’m just trying to hold it together right now. I’m at a work conference the second half of the week so I’m hoping that will distract me enough until my appointment Monday morning.
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday and why? Christmas! I love the traditions and I’m really loving creating our own traditions with DD and in the future this LO.
Any appointments? Tomorrow! Though it's my first one, and it's just with a nurse, and I'm seeing a new dr than last time. So I have no idea what it will actually entail.
Questions?: Not that I can think of.
How are you feeling?: Not great, but not terrible either. Tired, nauseous a lot, but usually eating "cures" it.
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday and why? Thanksgiving. I'm all about family and food and football. Not to get too cheesy, but holidays, in general, have been so great since having dd. Kids really make that stuff magical again.
How are you feeling?: : Extremely nauseous over the weekend. Constipation has set in, ugh! No appetite continues
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday and why? I love Christmastime. I have always taken a big chunk of time off, I love the food, and all the family traditions.
@mamaoftwomonkeys Have you thought of trying a completely different prenatal? I bought some super fancy vegan ones, and they made me sick, even though everyone said they were super easy to take and didn't cause problems. I gave up and bought some cheap CVS brand ones similar to what I took with my daughter, and I feel 1000x better. You just never know.
@indigoheightsblog I haven't asked for a doppler check or u/s, but I'm seriously considering doing so tomorrow if they don't offer one.
@cdiddy81 My first pregnancy I saw a high risk ob, had additional appointments, and weekly (then twice weekly!) NSTs at the end. The only advice I can give is to try to see those as reassuring - more opportunities to see that everything is going well! - rather than something that causes anxiety.
How are you feeling?: Overall not bad. I get nausea if I have an empty stomach, and easily tired/hot/out of breath on dog walks. This week I am having a lot of bloat and either constipation or diarrhea (sorry if tmi). I got some maternity shorts to hopefully be more comfortable.
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday and why? It's called Sukkot! (I am Jewish). It is a harvest holiday in the fall to celebrate farmers so you build a temporary hut (called a Sukkah) in your backyard covered in branches but so you can still see the sky! Then you decorate it and camp out and eat in it and basically live in it. It is both fun, and my wedding was during Sukkot so it is nice to remember! Plus who doesn't want to celebrate food and farmers these days?
Any appointments?had a blood work and a meeting with the doctor yesterday. Today I have to schedule my high-risk ultrasound for the next 2 or 3 weeks and a consultation with the maternal neonatal medicine doctor and then I go back to my regular doctor on September 6th.
Questions?: nope
How are you feeling?: I honestly left my doctor completely overwhelmed with how much goes into an identical twin pregnancy. I'm going to be at the doctors two to four times a month until I have the babies plus the neonatal medicine doctor once a month and ultrasounds all the time. I literally felt my head spinning when I walked out.
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday and why? My favorite holiday by far is Halloween besides the fact that I love fall and pumpkins and dressing up and Candy. it's when me and my boyfriend met and it's the anniversary we always celebrate.
Questions?: this bloating and constipation is killing me! What are you ladies doing to relieve the uncomfortableness?
How are you feeling?: other than constipation pretty good, tired still alot, but I've also been working alot getting ready for disney vacation. Thought the boob soreness was gone for a bit until I had my husband crack my back between my shoulder blades yesterday and almost cried they hurt so bad!
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday and why? Halloween and St. Patricks day. I love dressing up and seeing all the kids in their little costumes and there just was never any real pressure on halloween or st. pats day. Love st pats because my husband is irish, and I love irish food, and I get to go all out and make corned beef and cabbage and drink my green beer, plus its one holiday that all of our friends usually get together for so its nice to count on at least one day a year where everyone is able to get together lol.
@cdiddy81 I also have a pretty big age gap with my youngest brother. I'm 28 middle brother is 26 and youngest is 17. I love it! So much fun that we still get to go to high school football games as a big family. It was also a huge learning experience having to deal with a 2 year old when I was 13. When some of my friends in high school thought having a baby would be cool I was telling them how cool it was to have to leave the mall bc the baby threw up all over my mom and my other brother. We have the coolest relationship. Your kids will have a blast with your new bundle of joy and think of all the life experience they now get to see/experience that never would happened otherwise.
Due date: 3/1/19
Any appointments? Not till 8/22.. 2 more weeks. hopefully it fly's by.
Questions?: Can't seem to think of any today.
How are you feeling?: Pretty much the same. Still good to go in the mornings nausea hits around 3:30 and exhausted with an upset stomach all night.
GTKY: Thanksgiving hands down. I wish I had a huge kitchen so I could cook for two days and have a huge fancy spread.
@pipsqueak624 The only thing that has helped me is upping my water intake and activia yogurt. The yogurt was a game changer.
Endocrinolgy appt and diabetic nutritionist on Thursday.
Questions?:
Anyone else get sharp pains on the left side of your stomach? At first we thought it was gas, but I’m slightly worrying bc I’m not back up (tmi sorry)
How are you feeling?:
Other than my side hurting, great. I didn’t wake up once last night, it was fantastic. Thankfully that deep sleep didn’t include me peeing the bed.
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday and why?
I love Christmas. It’s when I spoil family. I’m a gift giver and love giving presents. I also love that the holiday brings our family together so we can spend time with each other. We play games and chat about life.
We have two sleeping beauties in heaven. Jack gained his wings on 09/02/2016. Kali gained her wings on 07/28/2015. They will be forever missed.
Questions? None. Hopefully I can think of some for my appointment Thursday. Haha.
How are you feeling? Lately I have been feeling great in the mornings, but from about lunch on I'm very tired and nauseous. Man, I miss coffee. Overall, not much change since about week 6.
GTKY: Toss up between Halloween and Thanksgiving. Mostly I love that time of the year - the colors, weather, football, etc. Also, DH and I are huge horror film nerds, so I love having horror movie marathons in October.
@bdesterhouse i'll occasionally get some throbbing in my left side, and i was made aware that it was a cyst on my left ovary which is fairly normal during pregnancy. your ultrasound technicians will monitor to make sure it doesn't grow, but otherwise it will either dissolve or just hang out for the duration of your pregnancy... as far as what i've been told. totally harmless. i'm pretty prone to small cysts, especially on my left side. no one can for sure say that's what's going on in your case, but at your next ultrasound couldn't hurt to have them check your ovaries.

I didn’t even think of that and it makes total sense. My ovaries like to hide and I don’t remember her checking that ovary during my ultrasound. It would make sense for that to be the cause because that’s the sensation it feels like. I would get them in months I didn’t ovulate a successful egg.

@bluebell08 and @indigoheightsblog thank you for the input on age gaps in siblings. I'm not even sure why its bothering me. I think it may be because I feel so alone this time. None of my friends are pregnant this time around (they are all done.)

My son will be eight when baby is born. I’ve been struggling with the age gap. My co workers sons are the same age gap and she said they are super close (her oldest is 23 now) and they talk to each other a lot through texts. That made me feel slightly better, but I’m still nervous. We’ve been trying to have unsuccessfully to have a baby since he was 4. The age gap wasn’t planned at all. I know there is a reason for everything though.

Any appointments? My first appointment is on the 17th!
Questions?: Just trying to figure out my part time work situation ><
How are you feeling?: Kind of stressed, trying to figure out if I hate my partner or if I'm just mad at him because I'm pregnant. (I hear it is common to be frustrated with partners while pregnant. I hope that's the case. Hormones + the fact that I have to do all the work to grow the baby and not drink/smoke/eat unhealthy and he can kind of carry on as normal. So unfair!)
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday and why? Halloween! I love to sew and make costumes so it gives me an excuse to sew and dress up! I'm brainstorming cute baby bump costume ideas.
Feeling: Just awful. It's been particularly bad since Thursday, which, coincidentally, was the day my H left for a work trip. I have this awful ache in my uterus. It just feels like my entire uterus is aching and uncomfortable, no sharp pains. It's like my period cramps, but much worse. And it's also causing a bit of lower back pain. It was so awful yesterday evening, I was crying and feeling shaky. I had it some but not this bad during my last pregnancy, and they said it was just RLP. Idk, because I've also had regular RLP, and this isn't like most descriptions you read of RLP.
Also, feeling sick off and on and headaches here and there. Almost didn't go to church on Sunday. I could barely stand during singing with the aches, and I was feeling so shaky and terrible. I haven't puked yet, but I still feel like the symptoms have been worse than my first pregnancy.
Holiday: probably Christmas. I love decorating and making candy and baking. I love snow and getting together with family. And I'm a gift person, so I LOOOOOVE giving and getting gifts.
Any appointments? I had my first OB appointment yesterday, and they moved my EDD from 3/11 to 3/9. So, I go here now! I will go back for NIPT next week.
Questions?: Nope
How are you feeling?: I’m feeling decent. My nausea comes and goes, but sleepless nights are in full swing.
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday and why?
I love Thanksgiving. Not for the history, but I love the positivity it brings out in people. Oh, and the food.
@ashley14598 I had an RX for it with my last pregnancy so I could make it through the 3-hour gluocose test. I may have also used it post pregnancy when I have “overindulged”. I did not have any side effects, and it was a life saver during my second 3-hour test. I puked all over myself and the office lobby during the prior attempt.
@mamaoftwomonkeys You might have tried this, but some people have good results right before bed. They fall asleep before the nausea hits.
@lovesclimbing i hope you feel better soon!!! have you asked your midwife about this? you don't have any bleeding do you?
@bdesterhouse the whole "they communicate a lot through texting" thing resonates so hard for me. my little brother had his first ever day at his "real" job out of college yesterday and we were texting all day long about it... with an 8 year age gap, it's hard to imagine them as "best friends" when one is 5 and the other is 13.... but when they are both adults they are going to have the best relationship!! i wouldn't have it any other way. (not that i had a choice.)
@lovesclimbing i hope you feel better soon!!! have you asked your midwife about this? you don't have any bleeding do you?
Thanks! No, I haven't. It was bad yesterday, but after they were closed. Feeling a bit better today, so I decided not to call this morning. No, I haven't had any bleeding at all, which is why I'm not terribly concerned about it.
@swanbrooner oh my! That sounds terrible! I’m sorry you had such a rough time with that test last time! I have taken it now for 2 days no puking yet still no appetite. I have pretty rough stomach pain when I do eat so I just try and avoid eating (which with no appetite isn’t hard to do). However them I feel guilty that I’m not being healthy for the baby.

Any appointments?

They will be forever missed.
Any appointments? Yes - this Thursday.
Questions?

March 4th
Any appointments?
My first appointment is on the 17th!
Questions?:
Just trying to figure out my part time work situation ><
How are you feeling?:
Kind of stressed, trying to figure out if I hate my partner or if I'm just mad at him because I'm pregnant.
Appointments: not until October.
Questions: No
Feeling: Just awful.
@mamaoftwomonkeys You might have tried this, but some people have good results right before bed. They fall asleep before the nausea hits.
