@ladystout08 I knew you'd be in the same boat. Did you avoid the flooding at least last week? Also, the mosquitoes were horrible yesterday where we were. DS got super bit up.

+1 to fall!!! Bring it on. It's supposed to be in the 100s this week and I'm dreading it.

I woke up to pee at 2, my cats realized I was awake, came to play & I couldn't fall asleep the rest of the night. 4 hours of sleep on a Monday, yaaaaaay.

I'm having bad cramps today and PGAL brain is going nuts. I can't tell if it's something to worry about or digestive. This is the first time I've had cramps with this pregnancy. I have an OB appointment tomorrow, so I don't really want to call them today. I don't know what to do.

I have been having cramps basically like every other day and it’s so unnerving, especially with PGAL brain. I am waiting for my OB now and I plan on mentioning it.

    @kns1988 @ladystout08 I hope you’re cramps go away.

Add me to the “ready fo fall” list. Unfortunately, we really don’t get fall until mid to late October here. We finally broke our 100 degrees weather streak yesterday. The high was “only” 99. I’m ready for leggings, boots, and hot beverages.

They felt exactly like period cramps. I'm feeling better now, so I think it was a digestive thing. It was so similar to real cramps, though, that it made me super nervous.

I'm not having a lot of cramps, but when I do they have always ended up being digestive issues. I've noticed they tend to be higher up though, which is why I asked. Glad you are feeling better.

My mom told me yesterday that she and my dad are going on vacation during the week of Christmas. It made me a little sad because I’ve never spent the holiday without them. We’ll still get together and celebrate with them, probably the weekend before.. which is giving me the glimmer of a possibility that we might actually be home on Christmas?!

Since DH and I got married, we haven’t been home on Christmas because we live 2.5 hours away from both sides of our families, and all of the family gatherings have been on/around Christmas Day.. except for last year, when they were all spread out, and it was a logistical nightmare for us. Way too much house hopping with a toddler.

After DS was born, I really wanted to start being home on Christmas, but we couldn’t do that without disrupting family logistics (and it’s extremely important to DH that we attend all family Christmas events, so just saying no is not an option).

And don’t think I haven’t given thought to encouraging my doctor to tell me to stay close to home at Christmas...

Mine are exactly the same, period cramps. My OB checked my cervix today and said I’m not bleeding or dilated or anything so she isn’t too concerned. I have an ultrasound in a little over a week to check the length of it anyway because of my past with LEEPs and abnormal paps so we’ll be more assured then. She said if I start to have pain or bleeding to call her ASAP.

Went to a waterpark today with my sister. Apparently waterslides are not recommended for pregnant ladies, as you could get bumped around and stuff, so I was limited to the lazy river and wave pool. I love wave pools, but today it was just stressful. Random kids kept bumping into me and splashing me, and people would just suddenly kick their legs out behind them to do flips and handstands (even when the waves were running). I was so worried that someone was going to end up accidentally kicking me in the stomach or something.

I don't know where exactly to put this and it is ABSOLUTELY NOT meant to start a debate, but I read this article this morning and thought it would be relevant to share. Note they use the word "correlation" not "causation" but it is an interesting study with some potentially important considerations nonetheless:

Yikes- that's pretty terrifying and does kind of make sense, and may help explain why SIDS has a male bias. It seems like the blood loss could just be another added stressor that can tip the scales if the infant is vulnerable. The original article isn't peer-reviewed yet (you can click it through the link) but looks like analyzes a lot of data. Worth more studies for sure. Thanks for the share.

So I'm home sick today, and admittedly not the best at math regardless, but I'm still fairly positive this is just flat out wrong:

  • Options
@merostomata Yes, I'm always a little leery when there's only one study available on a subject matter, and although this has yet to be peer reviewed, I agree that they analyzed a good amount of data which definitely should pique interest surrounding the correlation of SIDS and early circumcision. Also the fact that it is well known that both boys AND Jewish populations have a higher incidence of SIDS than would be expected makes a compelling argument for further investigation.

I was an absolute wreck over SIDS and it certainly didn't help my postpartum anxiety. This is going to have me worrying all over again.

@tosh24 That is definitely interesting and I hope they do more studies! I've been having an ongoing internal struggle about whether to circumcise (would never judge anyone else for their decision, just deciding what's best for my family. and FWIW I'm Jewish) so I'm definitely interested in hearing about all the relevant studies.

On Sat we went to King's Dominion with DD. It was fun, but consider that box checked for several years. It's a longish drive (almost 3 h), it was SO HOT, and the crowds were frustrating. Im glad we went since we definitely won't be going with an infant, but I'm glad we won't go again until the new baby is at least 3.

Oh, and @sarahsaurus-2 my DD definitely kicked me in the stomach several times in the wavepool (by accident) and I had to literally push people away from me. Ugh.

I don't know if i caught something at the amusement park, or if my pregnancy symptoms went haywire, but i was really sick the last two days. Nausea, diarrhea, horrible headache. I pretty much couldn't get off the couch. Feeling better today so either the sickness or hormone storm seems to be easing.

@AshVA Uhm yeah. That is SUPER wrong. Especially considering we're not at the 20 week mark yet, and even when we are we still have two weeks until that halfway point hits (It happens at 22 weeks - 18 weeks since you theoretically found out and 18 weeks until your due date).

Also I know I'm super late on this part but I LOVE FALLLLLLLLL. I am so excited for it. I usually decorate my house mid-late August so that it feels like fall when I go back to school.

Wow... seriously... the April bmb has zero chill.

TW loss - Someone posted she was pregnant after a still birth at 32 weeks, * end tw  but because she intro'ed in the wrong thread they jumped down her throat. Have some compassion,  seriously. It took everything in me not to do a lurking reply.
