@kaleesi93, ugh, I know, with such a big family it's hard not to upset someone regardless of how you do it!
I'm just taking a vegetarian prenatal gummy vitamin currently. It has plant DHA, which I know is a big one they want you to have, and folic acid I believe. I haven't seen my OB yet, so I'm not sure if they'll recommend anything else or not.
@MRDCle my hypertension never progressed all the way to Pre-E. I was induced at 37 weeks to prevent it. But that's why I'll be on baby aspirin as well. My OB basically said that the only thing you can really do about it is the aspirin. But I imagine we will talk more seriously about it at my appointment tomorrow.
Re vitamins: taking prenatal gummies, d3 w DHA, and B12 (the last two because my annual physical labs showed I was low on them). I know the gummies don’t contain iron, and aren’t recommended, but frankly, if I need to find a glass of water at the same time I am MUCH less likely to take any vitamins at all, so I figure it’s a necessary compromise.
Re testing: I got a few tests last time - one to determine if I had any genetic markers, and one to see if baby had weird chromosomes. The second (which also determines sex) we took because any trisomies would have altered how we proceeded with the pregnancy, and we didn’t want to know about the sex. HIGHLY RECOMMEND having whether you do or do not want to know the sex clearly marked in your chart, because the doc tried to spill the beans on the phone without giving us a chance to say no.
I take a generic pnv in pill form. As of now my Dr hasn't put me on anything else. I've been eating spinach every day to make sure I'm getting enough folic as well.
@lyse01 I would be mad if someone told us the gender when we did not want to know.
That being said, I kind of want to know the gender for this baby. We were team green for DS and it was great! DH absolutely does not want to know this time around also, but I kind of want to. I've told DH not to let me find out though, but it's going to be hard. For those who are/were team green the second or more time around, do you have any advice for staying strong on team green?
Thank you guys, all your answers were awesome! I feel better and more prepared now!! The probiotic I'm taking is Mothers Select, it has 10 billion cfu and more strains than a lot of others I looked at, but I've also tried the garden of life prenatal probiotic and liked it too, I just have to be taking some kind every day lol And @kangstadt thank you! It is totally an ordeal lol! I'm just glad someone gets it!
@luckywife10 - I was furious. I shouted over him, but DH and I both thought we heard “boy”, so that was our 80% sure secret for a while (spilled to MIL because she somehow ends up knowing all that stuff). But in fact, we have a girl, and I found out when my water broke not at birth. And I’m still Team Green for this one.
