GTKY: Hello, Sports Fans!

Just wondering if there are any sports fans around!

What sports do you like to watch on TV and/or attend in-person?

Favorite teams/players?

Anything else you'd like to share? (Sports traditions, superstitions, memories; places or events you'd like to attend...)

What sports do you like to watch on TV and/or attend in-person? I like playing and watching sports, but don’t really have a favorite team.

     Favorite teams/players?

Anything else you'd like to share? (Sports traditions, superstitions, memories; places or events you'd like to attend...) I love the traditions and superstitions surrounding sports, they’re really interesting to me.

What sports do you like to watch on TV and/or attend in-person?

I like to watch baseball on TV and attend in person. We like to spend summer nights at a local farm team’s field. Bonus: It’s where the Racine portions of A League of Their Own were filmed.

I’m a teacher, so I also attend a lot of school sports events too.

    Favorite teams/players?
Go Cubs Go! Have you seen Kris Bryant?

What sports do you like to watch on TV and/or attend in-person? Baseball!

Favorite teams/players? Chicago Cubs - Rizzo is my favorite, followed closely by Kris Bryant.

Anything else you'd like to share? (Sports traditions, superstitions, memories; places or events you'd like to attend...) I’m not really a
sports person in general, but really got into the Cubs after going to my first game a few years back.

@swanbrooner Yassss! They are my favorite bromance ever.

What sports do you like to watch on TV and/or attend in-person? NFL, tennis, baseball. (I think baseball is better in person!)
Also a teacher, so lot of school sports here, as well. My high school girls won the state basketball championship this year.

Favorite teams/players? The Green Bay Packers and the Detroit Tigers. Though, honestly, with how bad the Tigers have been, I've been watching the Red Sox quite a bit this year because I love JD Martinez.

Anything else you'd like to share? (Sports traditions, superstitions, memories; places or events you'd like to attend...) Grew up in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and now live in Ohio, so despite my Packers love, I've never been to Lambeau. It's pretty much the top of my bucket list.

@meggyme What sports do you play? I was a swimmer and ran cross country in high school, so I do some triathlons now (especially when not-pregnant - haha).

@purpleteacher82 @swanbrooner One of my best friends from college lives right across from Wrigley. What a great place to see a game! Plus, we go in the summer and sit on his porch and listen to concerts.

@greenbee I swam and played water polo for many years and also rowed crew in college. It’s much harder to find time to get on/in the water with a kiddo, but I’m enjoying seeing her love the water during our swim lessons.

@greenbee Awesome! I lived in Chicago for a bit, and just hanging out in Wrigleyville during games is an experience.

What sports do you like to watch on TV and/or attend in-person?

I love watching baseball and going to baseball games a few times a year.

    Favorite teams/players?
I love the Toronto Blue Jays, they're the only team from Canada. They are having a rough year though. My poor Jays.

Anything else you'd like to share? (Sports traditions, superstitions, memories; places or events you'd like to attend...)

Growing up, baseball was HUGE in my house. I can remember the '92 and '93 World Series and under no circumstances were we allowed to talk to my Dad while the game was on.

I’m a New England girl, so the obvious I love the home teams - Celtics, Red Sox, Patriots. Not much into hockey, and don’t follow the NBA that closely anymore.

We are are a HUGE baseball house, and the Sox have been a blast to watch this season.

Totally bragging here, but I am a 2-time fantasy football champ as well. I wish I could put it on my CV, lol.

Sorry for not following the format.

Anyone here into college sports?  MSU football or basketball?

@greenbee I can’t remember if I already tagged you to say this but I used to swim!  In fact, that’s how I met my husband, good ol’ swim-cest.  He was a distance freestyler on scholarship, and I was a bench warming scrub (breaststroke).

What sports do you like to watch on TV and/or attend in-person? NFL football by far! I also do a few fantasy football leagues. We have a local minor league baseball team here and we do like to take DS to the games. I watch March Madness every year and usually join the work pool.

Favorite teams/players? Buffalo Bills... since before I can remember.

Anything else you'd like to share? (Sports traditions, superstitions, memories; places or events you'd like to attend...) ... yes, Buffalo Bills games are crazy. I’ve never experienced the insanity reported after the games but it’s definitely not safe for kids. We won’t be taking DS for many, many years. There is something special though about being a fan of a local team with such a... sad history. We’re hardcore (even in the snow) and there are no fair weather fans of the team. DS is already being brought up as a fan too. Sorry buddy!

@mill1020 Definitely into college sports, too, but I'm a U of M fan. I was close with my uncle, who was a huge fan, and he took me to football and hockey games.
Also, I swam breaststroke, too! (And was an IMer as well.)

@meggyme My dd loves the water, too! So much fun to watch. I did formal swim lessons with her when she was really small last summer, but this summer, I've just been taking her swimming as much as possible on my own.

@mill1020 I love college sports! I'm a big ND football fan (no football where I grew up or went to college so jumped on the bandwagon for the Irish at a young age) and the university where I went to law school (Dayton) has a good basketball program (not last year, but the years before!). I followed college hockey, too, until I moved south.

We’re big soccer fans. My husband and I both lived in England for awhile so we watch English Premier League... come on you spurs! Haha

This should probably be under unpopular opinion, but I don’t understand you baseball people... It’s like watching paint dry ;)

What sports do you like to watch on TV and/or attend in-person?

We (my family) are big OSU football (and really any sport) fans. We watch every game and sometimes together. DH’s (and his family) are huge into hockey which I enjoy going to the games not so much on TV. I love going to baseball games. DH and I watch NFL every Sunday whether it’s our favorite team or not.

    Favorite teams/players?
OSU football, Cincinnati Bengals, Cincinnati Reds

DH and I used to work for a NHL coach (we helped admin his summer camps) so we follow whatever team he’s working with last year it was the Capitals.

Anything else you'd like to share? (Sports traditions, superstitions, memories; places or events you'd like to attend...)

DH and his family are big Browns fans. This has caused multiple petty problems in our relationship over the years. Most recently when we had our son and at the baby shower I was told that I shouldn’t open most packages because they weren’t “for me”. Okay let’s not tell the 8 month pregnant lady that she can’t open serveral of the gifts because she wouldn’t approve of them (you might as well just have not invited me). Ugh! Sorry to get off on that rant!

@ashley14598 My husband’s family is from Cleveland and they are all Browns fans too! I feel your pain! Literally every year he tells me it’s their year - news flash, it’s NEVER their year! I just roll my eyes and whoop his butt at fantasy football lol.

@maggiemadeit Yessss!!!!! I’m already hearing about how this year will be different! Also how their team has the “biggest fan base” and “most loyal fans”. I’m so over it!

I asked on another thread but I’ll try again here.... any interest in a fantasy football league??  We had one in Jan 16 and it was fun!!

Far prefer to watch baseball in person compared to on TV but still enjoy it. We used to spend -all day- on sundays watching football - we’d get up early to do grocery shopping, come home and make Eggs Benedict and park it on the Redzone. For better or worse, since DD was born we watch almost no sports except “important” games and the puppy bowl/ super bowl.

Fav baseball team is the Washington Nationals and they are about to relocate their farm team stadium to about 15minutes from where I live and we are so so so excited to go to those games as a family!

My hubby likes the Redskins so I cheer for them by default, but I love Drew Brees and the Saints (no real reason, but probably because he led my first ever FFB team to #1).

What sports do you like to watch on TV and/or attend in-person? I LOVE Notre Dame football. That’s where you can find me every Saturday in the fall. Go Irish! And I love goin to a baseball game. Way more fun to be there than to watch it on tv.

Favorite teams/players? Notre Dame football, Yankees baseball.

Anything else you'd like to share? (Sports traditions, superstitions, memories; places or events you'd like to attend...) My favorite memory is sitting in the student section at a Notre Dame game. They are all so into supporting their team and the whole section is just a blast to be a part of.

@christac1010 I'm happy to see another Buffalo Bills fan on here!  Do you live in upstate NY?  I don't anymore, but I went to college in Rochester, so I will be a Bills fan for life.  Hey, at least we made the playoffs this year, right?  It's getting better!

What sports do you like to watch on TV and/or attend in-person?- Mostly football, both NFL and college.  I like to go to minor league baseball games in person.  I'll also watch March Madness, and when the Olympics come around, I am obsessed.

Favorite teams/players? The Buffalo Bills will always be my team.  I also pick up a new favorite sports team with each new military PCS so I also follow the Seattle Seahawks, the San Antonio Spurs, and the Washington Nationals and Capitals.

Anything else you'd like to share? (Sports traditions, superstitions, memories; places or events you'd like to attend...) Some day, I'd like to actually go see the Olympics.  Winter, Summer, it doesn't matter.  I was a swimmer growing up, so I really hope my kiddos will want to be on the swim team so I can spend my weekends taking them to meets, helping officiate, and even selling concessions or helping bring the lane ropes back in, I love it all!

@ashley14598 I would be so annoyed if people told me I couldn't open a bunch of gifts at my own shower! I'm a Green Bay fan, and DH is a Detroit fan. The majority of people who got us football-related gifts "sided" with me.

@JaJuanY I'd love to go to the Olympics! DH and I have already talked about taking our kids to the LA summer games in 2028.

What sports do you like to watch on TV and/or attend in-person? I watch all the sports, and am a bigger fan than DH. I just finished watching le Tour, and am super sad to be in the summer sports lull. I am more interested in college sports than professional, though I prefer international professional to domestic. It's probably easier to list what I don't watch much of than what I do. I don't watch pro basketball, hockey, or very much pro baseball or football, though I don't mind Reds/Bengals game's.

Favorite teams/players? UofL, though I'm pretty embarrassed by the men's basketball recently. @mill1020 , I don't hate msu, I begrudgingly admire them and dread being inevitably beaten by them if forced to play them in March. Izzo is a freaking march genius.

Anything else you'd like to share? (Sports traditions, superstitions, memories; places or events you'd like to attend...) mostly, I can't wait to be done having kids/nursing so I can get back to playing sports - ultimate frisbee, pick-up soccer, volleyball, skiing, disc golf and swimming. Yes, I could still do those while pregnant/nursing, but I get too out breath and it's not as much fun when I can't be as competitive as I'd like.

@mamakate1616 @maggiemadeit I'm not really into fantasy football, but I'll play if someone sets it up. I'd be happy to set up a march madness bracket challenge, but I worry we'll all be a bit distracted.

    @greenbee @meggyme I was a swimmer too - 200IM, 500 free.

@ashley14598 the UK/UofL rivalry can get similarly ridiculous around here, fortunately my family is pretty good natured about it.

Football! I love watching hockey in person.

    Favorite teams/players?
I'm a diehard TN Titans fangirl, and have been since they became the Titans in '99.

Anything else you'd like to share? (Sports traditions, superstitions, memories; places or events you'd like to attend...)
I actually got to witness the Music City Miracle (way back in 2000) in person as it happened. We had thought it was over, and had started to get up to leave. Then the lateral pass happened and Dyson ran it all the way in. The atmosphere in the stadium was electric! It was pretty awesome to get to see something like that as it happened.

I have mildly confusing sports allegiances since I've moved a few times (from TN, went to college at Alabama, grad school at Wisconsin and still live in Madison) and picked up teams along the way...

What sports do you like to watch on TV and/or attend in-person?
I'd always rather attend in person, but I will watch pretty much any sport (except baseball which I'll listen to on the radio) on TV. We watch a ton of sports in our house and tend to fall asleep to SportsCenter

    Favorite teams/players?
    College football: Alabama, Roll Tide!
    NFL: Green Bay Packers
    NCAA Basketball: Wisconsin
    NBA: Memphis Grizzlies
    NHL: Nashville Predators
    MLB: St. Louis Cardinals

Anything else you'd like to share? (Sports traditions, superstitions, memories; places or events you'd like to attend...)
@mamakate1616 @maggiemadeit I'd definitely be game for fantasy football! I play in a number of leagues and really enjoy it!

    @greenbee @meggyme @JaJuanY @mill1020 I was a swimmer too! So many swam-ers here! 100 back, 200 back, and 200 free for me.

I'm a football fan.  Not too big into other sports, though I will go see an occasional baseball game, that is more about the experience than the actual game!

    Favorite teams/players?
Green Bay Packers.  We'd like to get more into college football this year so hoping to catch more Wisconsin games.

What sports do you like to watch on TV and/or attend in-person? College football is definitely a fav. I’m a UGA alum so my favorite place in the fall is between the hedges. Hubs like any football, so it’s pretty much on if it’s Thurs-Mon in our house.

Favorite teams/players? Of course, I love my dawgs for college but I’m a Colts fan when it comes to the NFL. Always loved Peyton Manning as a child and it broke my heart when he became a Bronco. Being from Georgia, I’m a Braves fan too but they’re so much better to see in person.

Anything else you'd like to share? (Sports traditions, superstitions, memories; places or events you'd like to attend...) Our favorite girl’s name is Peyton. Guessing you can figure out where I picked that one ;)
