Yeast infections at 4 weeks

hello ladies!
ill be 5 weeks tomorrow and for the last few days I’ve had major itchy ness and some slight burning with peeing.  I went to the doc and sure it’s an yeast infection...she said I could use the cream to cure it but when I went to the pharmacy I realized there are two cream, one for external use and the internal one with the applicator.  not sure which one I should get.  The pharmacist said both are safe during pregnancy but I was a little hesitant to the one with the applicator to insert inside.  Anyone use that?

Re: Yeast infections at 4 weeks

  • My understanding is the external ones typically only relieve the itching and don't do a lot for actually treating it. That's been my experience.  I expect you'll get much better results using the internal kind.

  • When I was pregnant, my doctor prescribed the 7 day applicator.  He said smaller dose over longer period of time was better than pill and 3 day doses.  Completely fine to use internal yeast infection creams during pregnancy- pharmacist wouldn't tell you wrong information.
  • I was told to use the applicator kind when I was pregnant last time and got thrush and a yeast infection. I personally don't like them and just used a generous amount of the external but that's just preference and not for health.
I know you can not take the pill form (or at least I was told not to).
But you can always call your pharmacist again to be sure!
  • Thanks ladies!  I got the 6 day Canesten treatment with the cream.  Here’s to hoping this goes away fast
