How far along are you? How big is baby?

7w6d - almost to the 8 week mark!

How many kids do you already have? Ages?

    DD is 1.5

How are your other kids doing this week?

She's doing really well! We're going on vacation on Friday so her schedule will be off and I'm sure she'll be extremely overwhelmed, but that's life. She's become this little ball of laughter in the last week. She's always been a happy kid, but we have spent hours and hours laughing recently. I'm loving this age.

    Rants/Raves? Concerns/Questions?

I really want to tell her about the baby. I know she won't really get it yet, but she loves her baby doll so I think she'll be excited. She's also a parrot at this age so we can't tell her anything until we're ready for everyone to know. When would you tell a 1.5 year old?

GTKY: What is something you wish you had gotten for previous children? What is something you had but didn't use?

We used just about everything we had. We received two glass bottles as gifts that we only used twice, but that's the only thing I can think of that we didn't use. We bought very little at the beginning and just slowly acquired things as we needed them. The kick and play piano is one thing I never thought I would need, but quickly became the biggest hit in our house.

How many kids do you already have? Ages?

    DD is 2

How are your other kids doing this week?

She is resisting. Potty training has taken a turn for the worst. She'll sit on the potty and then pee/poop herself 5 minutes later and come to me for a change of pants. I'm planning to double down next weekend when I have some free time at home to hopefully get us back on track.

    Rants/Raves? Concerns/Questions?

I think I'll end up outing myself to some friends tomorrow night during a girl's night. I always have at least one drink and I don't even have the excuse that I'm driving because I'm carpooling with a pregnant friend and she's driving. I'm not too worried about it, and honestly I don't like keeping it a secret. I feel like I'm always catching myself from saying something that will give it away.

GTKY: What is something you wish you had gotten for previous children? What is something you had but didn't use?

I wish that we had gotten a nice video monitor the first time around. Now DH doesn't want to buy anything new for this LO. We didn't use half of the blankets we received. I always make it a point not to give baby blankets at baby showers now. I returned so many and we still haven't used them all.

How many kids do you already have? Ages?

    1 - DS, 18m

How are your other kids doing this week?

He’s getting canine teeth so he’s pretty crabby. He’s also been clinging to DH which is annoying but slightly welcome with how tired and nauseous I am right now.

    Rants/Raves? Concerns/Questions?

My boobs hurt so much and he’s always smashing into them. I also feel like a garbage parent right now but I keep reminding myself that it’s only this season of life and he’ll never remember it.

GTKY: What is something you wish you had gotten for previous children? What is something you had but didn't use?

We got a bassinet around 3w and I SO regretted not getting one earlier. I had to sleep on the couch next to the pnp which wasn’t great. I’m definitely pulling it out and getting it ready this time. And I can’t think of anything I didn’t really use. I wasn’t super particular about checking websites for recommendations (like Lucie’s List and Pinterest) so I wouldn’t overbuy or waste my money. I think I probably had too many clothes and blankets if anything. That kid was always in onesies, zipper PJs, and Halo sleep sacks.

ETA I’m team wipe warmer despite the controversy. I didn’t think I would use it but SIL gave me a used one. DS was born in Decemeber and it was a life saver in the MOTN. I also bought a Baby Brezza when I stopped BFing. Another controversial item but it was another MOTN life saver.

    2.  Dd is 5 and ds is 2.

How are your other kids doing this week?

Pretty well. DD has had major sleep issues her whole life and lately has been up pretty much all night every night...no exxaggeration. It makes her miserable during the day unfortunately. DS is a typical 2 year old right now.

    Rants/Raves? Concerns/Questions?

My first u/s is today and I am super anxious.

GTKY: What is something you wish you had gotten for previous children? What is something you had but didn't use?

I wish I had splurged for better quality gear the first time. We went with a lot of Graco stuff that I ended up hating and replaced with better quality when DS was born, this time I think I an good on baby gear. Did not really use diaper genie because we switched to cloth diapers.

How far along are you? How big is baby?

    I am 5 weeks 4 days.

How many kids do you already have? Ages?

    DS is 4.

How are your other kids doing this week?

He is doing great. It has been super hot this week so we have had to stay inside a lot.

    Rants/Raves? Concerns/Questions?

Excited/nervous/ready for first appointment in about 2 1/2 weeks. I have had some brown spotting (only when wiping) every not and then. It has me freaked out, but I talked to a friend yesterday (she has 3 kids) and she said it happened with her last two so that camled me down some. I just got over a head cold I caught from DS so that's great. I have been procrastinating on finishing these weeks assignemnts (finishing my masters degree). I really need to get htem done.

GTKY: What is something you wish you had gotten for previous children? What is something you had but didn't use?

We also were gifted alot of stuff. Plenty of blankets (didn't use all of them). We were very forunate. A cowoker had gifted us a cute little infant 'thing' (can't think of what to call it) that when DS was put in would make him look like the hungry little catepillar (body sleeve thing and hat) that we misplaced in a move and never got pics with. I wish we had.

@meggyme I had a video monitor that my sister loaned me and we LOVED it. I don't think she has it anymore so I would love to get another.

@sew322 I'm thinking a video one might be useful when we evenually move DD to a big bed (so we can use the crib for this LO). Which monitor did you have?

How far along are you? How big is baby?

    Seven and a half weeks.

How many kids do you already have? Ages?

    A 1-year-old daughter.

How are your other kids doing this week?

She has mellowed out about our new situations this summer, thankfully. Still a little fussy. Her molars should be coming through soon.

GTKY: What is something you wish you had gotten for previous children? What is something you had but didn't use?

I wish we had a nicer baby carrier, but I didn't want to spend the money. We have an Infantino, and it's perfectly serviceable, but I'd like to upgrade. Honestly, I can't think of a thing that we got that we didn't use. Things were tight when we had her, and I'm pretty minimalist, so we didn't have a lot of fluff. The only "fluff" we didn't use were things we were given by other people. We were given pacifiers (we're anti-pacifier), the windi gas passer (a thing you stick up their butt when their grassy, but we never needed it and I don't think I'd have used it if she was gassy), and baby Tylenol (I'm opposed to using it a lot, and we just never needed it even once).

the 4 year old is NOT WEARING A PRINCESS DRESS IT IS A QUEEN DRESS and the 6 year old asked Alexa to play poop from spotify and it played a song.  They would say they are great.

    Rants/Raves? Concerns/Questions?

    I need more time.

GTKY: What is something you wish you had gotten for previous children? What is something you had but didn't use?

    A winning lottery ticket.

I had so much stuff that I was able to re-use because the girls were 19 months apart--we got rid of most of it, so I'm going with we need a bounce seat, eventually a high chair, a crib, and clothes?  We did not use lots of the toys and tons of the clothes, so this stereotypical third kid is going to be our minimalist baby.

How far along are you? How big is baby?

5w 2d, the size of an appleseed.

How many kids do you already have? Ages?

I have a 19 month old son and 13 year old stepson.

How are your other kids doing this week?

DS is kind of a mess. We were on vacation for a week, back for a few days, then went home to see family last weekend. I think all the travel and being off his normal schedule is screwing with him. He's super clingy and not sleeping well.

    Rants/Raves? Concerns/Questions?

So far I've just been a little crampy - haven't had any major symptoms otherwise. My main concern right now is that I have been seeing an integrative doctor because my thyroid has been off lately (I'm hypothyroid and my numbers have been getting steadily worse since January). She is much more thorough and responsive than my endocrinologist, who just chalks up my fatigue to being a mom to a toddler. She doesn't take insurance, though, and now with a baby on the way I'm not sure I can afford to see her regularly.

Other than that, I was in Haiti a week or so before conceiving, so they will monitor me for zika, and I was finishing up a course of anti-malarial meds when we conceived. My gynecologist looked it up and doesn't think it's anything to be too concerned about, but there just isn't a lot of research on this particular medication so I will be a little anxious until I can see that the little peanut is developing well.

GTKY: What is something you wish you had gotten for previous children? What is something you had but didn't use?

I think we had pretty much everything we needed for DS because I brought a U-haul trailer full of baby gear home from my sister's house. She has three kiddos and was getting ready to get rid of all her stuff when I found out I was pregnant. So, I had A LOT of stuff we didn't end up using. I think the one that I'm still baffled by is the bassinet attachment for the stroller. It was so big and bulky, it stayed in our attic until the Babies R Us trade-in event.

@meggyme I honestly can't remember. My sister had it for a few years before she loaned it to me. You could turn off the video and use just the audio if you wanted as well. I LOVED it! I will have to ask her if she remembers what hte brand was. I know it was an older model. I think someone actually gave it to her used.

How many kids do you already have? Ages?

    1 – DS who’s 3

How are your other kids doing this week?

Good, it’s been a busy week and he’s actually off to a sleepover at his grandmother’s house today. The house is weirdly quite right now.

    Rants/Raves? Concerns/Questions?

I’m trying to decide when to tell DS. He keeps asking for a sister, but I don’t want to tell him and then have something happen.

GTKY: What is something you wish you had gotten for previous children? What is something you had but didn't use?

I don’t know if I can think of anything I wish I had last time around. We had quite a few pacifiers that DS never used, but that was just a funny quirk of his.

    One girl, 2.5 years old

How are your other kids doing this week?

Daughter is acting like a real toddler this week. Not listening, constant whining, the works. She has also been going through a real “Papa” phase where she only wants Dad to do things with her. I know I shouldn’t be bothered, but she hurts my feelings.

    Rants/Raves? Concerns/Questions?

Rave: I have been feeling not terrible the last two days, after some pretty serious MS.

Rant: I am now worrying that something is wrong because I feel better!

GTKY: What is something you wish you had gotten for previous children? What is something you had but didn't use?

We kept it pretty minimal with my daughter, and I don’t regret that. We were able to borrow some things, so we will need to buy those this time around.

We never really needed the baby monitor, and my kid never liked pacifiers so they never got any use.

@brookepdavis DS is 19 months and we've told him about the baby and talk about it a lot. It doesn't seem to have made any impression on him though.  He's also not very verbal yet so there aren't any worries about him blabbing.

How many kids do you already have? Ages?

    DS is 19 months

How are your other kids doing this week?

He's great until he wants something he can't have, but that's toddler life. He is loving music this week and so he's always making his toys play their songs and then turning to me with the biggest grin. Love it!

    Rants/Raves? Concerns/Questions?

Nothing really, just trying to stave off the headache and exhaustion that always seem to be creeping up on me.

GTKY: What is something you wish you had gotten for previous children? What is something you had but didn't use?

A friend loaned us their Rock n play and that thing was a life-saver. I'll be getting one for this kid.

We had so many hats and blankets. I think over half the newborn outfits come with hats and I almost never used them.

@meggyme The blankets OMG!! Why do people buy so many?

@christac1010 We didn't buy a wipe warmer at first because of all the negative talk about them. On about week 2, DH went and got one because DD would scream her head off every time we put a cold wipe on her bum. We ended up loving it and using it for the first year.

GTKY: What is something you wish you had gotten for previous children? What is something you had but didn't use?

I wish I used an infant Tula with DD.  I got her a toddler one and I liked it so much better than the other carriers I had purchased.  I feel like there was a lot we didnt use.  The swing.  Well, we used it, but never turned it on.  Tons of 3 month size clothing.  She practically bypassed that size and it's the size we had the most of.

She has a cold, but is generally a trooper. And she learned the word "bubble" this week, so I'm hearing that A LOT and I kind of love it with her little voice.

    Rants/Raves? Concerns/Questions?

R/R combo: Generally DD is already not a fantastic sleeper and this last week due to her cold AND teething (which I can't believe I didn't recognize sooner) she slept even worse, which obviously means I slept worse. She was up every 15-45 minutes, with an occasional hour long stretch of sleep.  One. Hour. Oh and her naps? They were running from 7-30 mins. But yesterday she took an hour long nap in the morning and an hour and a half nap in the afternoon, and last night, praise the lord, SHE SLEPT FOR A 5 HOUR STRETCH! She hasn't done that since 4 months, and I'm not exaggerating. I had 4 hours of uninterrupted sleep and I felt like a new person this morning.

GTKY: What is something you wish you had gotten for previous children? What is something you had but didn't use?

Not a thing I wish I had gotten - but I wish I had gotten her to take a bottle sooner (or really at all). She basically refused it when she was little and went straight to the sippy cup, which is fine, but I think life would have been easier for me early on if I could have had other people help feed her.

We had a "basinest" which was basically a co-sleeper, that she stayed in for approximately 7.3 seconds each night before I just pulled her in to bed with me.

She is hitting that Threenager stage with some attitude, but can also be really sweet when she knows I'm not feeling well.
    Rants/Raves?
I don't have much to complain about other than this pregnancy being more physically difficult than may last pregnancy.  Gas and bloating are causing a lot of pain and adding to the nausea.
GTKY: What is something you wish you had gotten for previous children? What is something you had but didn't use?
I'm starting to really think about getting a rock and play this time around.  We had a glider that 1st time but my DD didn't really care for it much.  I'm also trying to decide if a bassinet would be a good thing to get for next to the bed this time, rather than just a pack and play.  I used pretty much everything last time.

    4+4. Poppy seed.

How many kids do you already have? Ages?

    DD, 2 years.

How are your other kids doing this week?

The usual, spending time with grandparents while her parents are at work.

    Rants/Raves? Concerns/Questions?

The bloating is for real this time.

GTKY: What is something you wish you had gotten for previous children? What is something you had but didn't use?

We had tons of clothes and blankets we didn't use. Due to DD's smaller birth weight, we didn't get to use a lot of the clothes we were gifted.

We had and didn't use... this is hard. I think the best answer is her crib. She co-slept in a snuggle-me until she outgrew it, and in the rock and play after that. When she started rolling, we slowly transitioned to her crib. First full night in her crib, she slept 13 hours! That was around 11 months.

How many kids do you already have? Ages? My son is 14 months

How are your other kids doing this week? He’s doing well. We went away for a few days which was really nice but he got up earlier than usual (530)every day.

Rants/Raves? Concerns/Questions? I’m a little concerned about losing even more sleep when there’s two but I’m pretty used to being exhausted constantly so hopefully that will help me.

GTKY: What is something you wish you had gotten for previous children? What is something you had but didn't use? I wish I got the owlet smart sock because I was obsessed with checking him in his sleep. SIDS is one of my biggest fears and the sock may have given me some peace of mind. We got a swing at my shower but DS never really liked it.

@gasbarro2011 the rock and play was a savior for us for daytime naps!

DD is 8 and DS is 5

How are your other kids doing this week?

Besides fighting nonstop  :D ah the joys of summer vacation

    Rants/Raves? Concerns/Questions?

most of my friends have older kids and are done so most of our social activities involve a drink or two   I actually  find myself avoiding social situations so I don't have to out myself before I'm ready!  I hate waiting for the first ultrasound.  It feels like forever!

GTKY: What is something you wish you had gotten for previous children? What is something you had but didn't use?

I think I had everything I needed with the first two. I definitely want a rock n play again. I didn't really use the bouncer seat.  We got rid of all our baby stuff when DS was one so we're starting from scratch.

How many kids do you already have? Ages?

11 year old DD and 2 year old DS

How are your other kids doing this week?

DD has stopped sleeping in her room and has migrated to the living room for some odd reason - I think it may be anxiety about various changes in her life.  DS is busy as usual, tearing apart the house from the moment he wakes up.  I have no idea how I will manage with him and an infant.

    Rants/Raves? Concerns/Questions?

DH is my rant right now - giving me the silent treatment because of a fight we had last weekend.  Just get over it already and let's move on.

GTKY: What is something you wish you had gotten for previous children? What is something you had but didn't use?

Everything I had I used pretty much, I never really went all out for baby gear since I was broke with DD and by the time DS came along, I had it down to a science what I actually needed and what was just fluff.

5.5 yo DD and 2.5 yo DD

How are your other kids doing this week?

They've been very easy going this week. Only a few fights and tantrums. The 2.5 yo is testing me right now with the line "No! I don't want to go potty!" with arms folded, the works. This happens right after the wiggle dance while she holds herself. :/

    Rants/Raves? Concerns/Questions?

Just really excited for our vacation to the beach next week! Also, the weather today has taken a turn for the better, it's finally nice out instead of sweltering!

GTKY: What is something you wish you had gotten for previous children? What is something you had but didn't use?

I got a Lillebaby carrier and a K'tan carrier and a set of muslin blankets last time around and I used them religiously with my 2nd. This time around I bought a stroller that fully reclines since our old used one broke after the 2 other kids used it (I got it now so I can use it for the vacation, I did not want to use our double stroller with airports involved). A Rock n Play sounds like a good idea, but I may try to get by with the swing and bouncy seat I have, we'll see.

Things we didn't use: bottles (I am a SAHM and both my kids exclusively BF), pacis weren't used much and all those flannel blankets... the only thing they came in handy for were for turning into cloth wipes for my 2nd DD since they wore out after 1st DD. Neither of my kids used the crib much either since they co-slept with us. I admit it would have been nice if they would have occasionally napped in there so I could get more stuff done.

One boy, he just turned 2.

Good! We started using a “wait to wake” light couple weeks ago and it’s starting to really pay off. No more 5 am wakeups!

    Rants/Raves? Concerns/Questions?

Has anyone dealt with nursing/weaning a toddler and pregnancy? He is still nursing and I don’t know what to expect with being pregnant as far as milk supply, how I’ll feel about it, etc. I know it’s different for everyone but I’d love to hear some experiences!

GTKY: What is something you wish you had gotten for previous children? What is something you had but didn't use?

Id like to have aswing or cosleeper that attaches to the bed. Never used bottles because he refused.
