Any other first tri ladies out there?!

I graduated from my RE today and will be 9 weeks tomorrow! I am nervous about not having the weekly ultrasounds anymore. I'm hoping my OB will still do them often since I have 1 viable baby, 1 non viable baby and a large SCH, so there is lots happening in there that I think we need to keep an eye on. I have been very nauseous the last 3 weeks and struggling to eat enough. I lost a few pounds, which i know isn't ideal, so I am trying REALLY hard to eat more now.

@JamieH2000 Don't worry about the weight loss. A lot of women lose weight in the first tri due to MS, etc. I didn't gain any weight my first tri and have only gained roughly 6-7 lbs (I'm 23 weeks). As long as you and baby are healthy, don't put the extra stress on yourself. It does nothing to help you or baby.

hopefully they will be more accommodating as you have a large SCH. So baby B hasn’t disappeared?  For me, at my last scan at the RE also at 9w, baby B was gone. But mine didn’t develop as much as yours.

@wildrainbow- thanks for sharing! I'm trying not to stress too much. I know I feel better when I eat more, its just SO hard when you aren't hungry and nothing sounds good. But I have been doing better the last few days so maybe I am turning a corner.

@prudence9-2- THanks!  Baby B is still there and the same size as when it stopped growing during week 6. I am thinking it will take a while to go away. but at least its really pretty small in actual size. my RE said the uterus is made to stretch big (obivously) so hopefully the baby and SCH won't cause any space issues for the other baby. I am def going to push hard for lots of ultrasounds to monitor it all!

I had a vanishing twin as well, similar growth (6-7 wk). You could still see the sac at 12 weeks, but everything was gone by my next scan at 16 weeks.

I had pretty bad nausea and lost weight during my first trimester, but I did find that there was usually a time of day where I felt like I could eat and I loaded up then, treating myself to whatever I wanted!

@decemberdoll27- i meet with an OB in my practice next thursday. I will be 10+1. Hopefully they will give me another ultrasound, otherwise at least try for the HB with the doppler? I have a retroverted/tipped uterus, which I have read makes it harder to find the HB with the doppler, so that could be scary if they can't find it right away!

@mbradfo2- Thanks for sharing! Its just weird to think about it hanging out in there for that long! Just hoping my one baby is able to get all the room it needs with everything else going on in there! I'm doing ok at eating lunches, for some reason evenings are just so hard. I think i muscle it through the day at work (since I have to make it thru the day) and just let my body crash at night. Its 9 weeks today, so hopefully will start to taper off soon.

@JamieH2000 It makes me so happy to see you posting here Just wanted to let you know that I also have a retroverted uterus (and an anterior placenta - double trouble for the doppler) and my doctor didn't want to use the doppler until a little later so that I didn't freak out. I think it's VERY common for OBs to do an ultrasound between 10-12 weeks so I hope you get one! And fingers crossed everything looks great and the SCH starts to resolve itself.

aww thanks @adirat! I am so happy to be here on the otherside with all you ladies who I have followed for so long! That is good to know that they will hopefully do an ultrasound! I don't think they love my REs ultrasound reports and want to see for themselves. I'm wondering if I will do an NT scan? I would like to do the new genetic blood testing, but based on what I have read, I probably can't since I have a non viable twin still pretty intact in there and that could mess up the results. So likely having to wait for AS to find out the gender!

I graduated from the RE yesterday, first OB is on July 31. 
Thoughts/Concerns?
This is my 3rd pregnancy. The first ended at 18w with preterm labor/stillbirth. The 2nd was a 1st tri miscarriage of identicals. I'm trying not to worry and focus on that, but I'm relatively consumed with it. Things have been going beautifully so far and I know the protocol for this pregnancy is very different from before so I'm trying to  focus on that.

@halips- I think I may remember your story if you posted on the IF board before... I have been on there for over 2 years with a long road as well. SO happy to see you here and we are only 4 days apart! Hopefully this will be both of ours' THB!!

@JamieH2000 yep, I was really active on IF back in 2015/2016! Happy to see you here too, and keeping my fingers crossed for both of us!

How far along are you? / EDD 10w2d, EDD is 2/13

How are you feeling? Nausea is definitely getting better, which has been great. I’m still feeling anxious, but that too is getting a bit better. Like others I check the risk of mc daily, and am now below 3%. 

Any recent/upcoming appointments? MH and I chose the birth center I want to deliver at and I have my first appointment with my midwife next Friday. 

Thoughts/Concerns? My RE told me I could stop using prometrium at 10 weeks, but I’m nervous to stop. I’m thinking of at least staying on it until my midwife appointment. When did other folks stop progesterone supplementation?

@darkstar42- Glad to hear nausea is getting better. i am a week behind you and would love for mine to start getting better soon, so you give me hope! What site do you use to check the m/c risk?

For my meds, i started weaning estrogen at 8 weeks through 10 weeks. Progesterone (PIO for me) weans from 10 weeks to 11 weeks. I'm kind of scared to stop as well!

How did you end up picking a birth center? I don't think I have one in my area, but I guess I picked the hospital with the highest NICU level since I am still terrified something will go wrong at every point in this!

@darkstar42 I was on PIO until 8 weeks when I graduated from the RE and then suppositories for weeks 8-10.  You'll be okay!!! ;)

@BusinessWife Thank you! It’s good to hear your experience. So hard to let go of that anxiety though!

@JamieH2000 I’m actually super uncomfortable with hospitals, so I was really looking for other options. The birth center we picked is literally across the street from the hospital with the highest level NICU and best maternity center, so that gives some peace of mind. The midwives are all certified nursing midwives and have hospital admitting privileges as well. If anything changes during pregnancy that makes me higher risk we’ll of course switch to the hospital, but I’m hoping for a natural birth at the birth center. MH is much more anxious about it than I am at this point!

I was on PIO until 12 weeks -- just the way my RE handles it. I doubt it would cause any issue if you wanted to refill your prescription another time or two to stay on it a bit longer - maybe ask your RE if that's okay? Anything that takes the stress off it and isn't harmful (plenty of ladies take progesterone supplements into the 2nd trimester as well).

 I didn't wean however -- I just hit 12 weeks and stopped. I was worried too but I had an appt with my regular OB that week so I got a scan there for reassurance.

@JamieH2000 Also, this site has the mc info I look at: https://datayze.com/miscarriage-reassurer.php. Their numbers are based on published research on mc rates, but I make no claims to their accuracy. It helps my anxiety though!

@mbradfo2  I still have enough suppositories to last for weeks, so no refills needed. My RE didn’t say to wean off them, but I might do that so I feel less nervous. I’m sure it would be fine either way though!

@darkstar42- that birth center with the hospital right across sounds like a perfect fit!! Hoping it all goes super smoothly and you can have the birth you want there!! Thanks for the website link! Also, my RE likes to get you off progesterone by 12 weeks bc she said you don’t want too much if you are pregnant with a boy bc of development hormones? I have had friends with SCH stay on longer but they had to way the risks. I think it’s not super clear if there really are risks. But from what I have read the placenta takes over at like 8-9 weeks, so staying on until 10-12 should give extra coverage

Thanks @darkstar42 and welcome!  I'm a little late responding, but my RE took me off the progesterone suppositories at 9w and I stop PIO at 12 weeks. Estrogen all stopped at 9w too, also no weaning. Totally appreciate the nervousness over it all. I have the same thoughts! I just try to remember that they are the professionals and wouldn't steer me wrong!
