Anyone else already been diagnosed as Strep B positive? Apparently they’ll consider me positive for labor even if I’m negative at 36 weeks. Would obviously prefer to avoid the antibiotics. Curious if anyone else has been in similar boat before.
Strep B is a bacteria that’s in a lot of people’s bodies, not a big deal for adults but can make a newborn very sick. That’s why they do the antibiotics. All of us will have a swab from vagina to butthole at 36/37 weeks. Here’s a good article.
@ssag - I’ve been positive twice. I can’t even have the normal antibiotics due to allergies so I have to get two doses. It’s really not too bad. They still let you move around and walk around and stuff. I even went in the bath/shower with the IV hooked up.
The swab is nothing compared to poopin on the bed. Which I have no idea if I did or not. Nobody told me and that was just fine to me.
I know I did bc my husband couldn’t stop clearing his throat and I almost murdered him. I said get the damn nurse to clean me up and don’t clear your throat again lollll rage poop
I didn’t poop on the table either time thankfully to my bowels clearing themselves before labor - it’s how I knew it would start the second time. I’m weirdly proud of this.
If you do poop on the table, the nurses do clear it super fast I hear.
New question- has anyone not gained any weight yet? Despite my ms I feel like I’ve been eating constantly. I was surprised when I got on the scale and saw it hadn’t moved. I think it’s normal to this point... I’m just conscious of trying to get enough calories for the kid I’m still nursing and the new one. Normal, right?
we have had a rough couple of days that got worse last night. I was spotting on Friday and went in and the baby was doing fine, the US tech said I had a Subchorionic hemorrhage. She said it would likely reabsorb. Well last night I woke up at 1 am in a pool of blood, there was so much we need a new mattress. We were freaking out and thankfully my MIL rushed over to stay with the kids. All tests were fine at the ER and the baby looked fine on the US but I’m naturally super worried. I have a follow up with my Dr today but I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this?
@Erinm278 no advice, but good luck at the Dr today! That's so tough to go through! Fyi - It's a long tedious process but hydrogen peroxide can help get the blood out of the mattress. I had the same mattress experience on a two month old mattress.
Thanks everyone for the love. @antera23 any positive outcome experiences I can hear help so thank you! I’m 9w2d but the baby measured 9w4d in the ER ultrasound yesterday.
@erinm278- sorry to hear you have an SCH as well! I have a massive one, bigger than baby and sac still. I think they said its 3cm by 3cm. I did have some spotting in the beginning but luckily its slowed down. I agree with everyone else- take it very easy and pelvic rest for sure. It seems most end up fine, it all depends on where it is and if it messes up the placenta attachment at all. Hopefully they will be able to give you some more info today!

@Erinm278 I have one too, classed as medium, I think as its 50% (or was when I had my US). Spotting seems to come and go but there isn't much for us to do except wait and see ( which is hellishly stressful) but it sounds like you have a strong little bean!
Update: the doctor said it’s scary but pretty common. He told me his wife had this and bled until 18 weeks. My blood work was all normal but he prescribed me progesterone anyway probably just to make me feel better. I go back in a week for another ultrasound. No working out, heavy lifting, or sex!
@Erinm278 I had a SCH with my last pregnancy. While I never ended up bleeding with mine, there were a group of us on my last BMB that had them and most of the other women experienced at least some spotting. I don’t think any of us lost our babies. My son is a happy little almost one year old now. It’s scary, but most of the time it turns out okay. I hope you can get losts of rest and drink lots of water!
Erin- I am in your boat this pregnancy and can give good news. I bled at six weeks enough that I assumed I had miscarried. OB took blood which showed high HCG so she did an US a few days later (6w4d) and I had a large 5cm SCH and a second sac that had stopped developing (now they call it vanishing twin). Doc said 50/50 I lose the one that was ticking because the SCH was so big. Cut to my 9 w US last week and the SCH was down to 1.5 cm, the one fetus was looking and beating perfect, and all is looking great! Hope yours resolves as well!
Does anyone have advice about where to buy bras for larger cup sizes? I’ve been getting mine from target for years, but they don’t sell them in the DDD range that I’ve now migrated into...
Re: Weekly Questions (w/o 7/15-7/21)
i personally haven’t had this but a friend of mine did. She did end up having antibiotics and all that good stuff but it wasn’t too big of a deal.
