Re: UO 7/12 -- Arbitrary thoughts/opinions

  • @smulrich16 What makes me feel better is that any bit of exercise I do while pregnant is going to help me get back into shape when I'm not pregnant or hopefully make for an easier delivery. Even if you're just going for a walk or doing small stuff compared to what you usually do, it's definitely going to help in the long run! It does suck, though. I'm already having trouble trying to hoist myself out of bed and I'm only going to get bigger! :D Just try to take it easy on yourself! Some days are better than others.

  • @bfpafter4years I agree. Those bears are expensive, when you consider you can get some for $5-$10 at Walmart. Families, especially those with a lot of kids, were taking advantage to do something special for their children. I also think it was a good way to teach kids about waiting in line or waiting their turn lol So many kids are given instant gratification, they don't know how to act when they really do have to wait for something. Makes me scared for the future!

  • My U/O and FFFC is I don't mind MLMs as long as it is a product that actually works. I've bought lots of stuff from friends because it doesn't bother me to tell them if something doesn't work for me. I also have an MLM business that I joined several years ago because it was a product that actually helped me. I don't spend too much time on it and would never PM anyone about it, but it's been great for me personally and my family has benefited. And I feel like I manage the business with respect and consideration of customers, so no shame there.

@smulrich16 I follow a bunch of super cute small business clothing boutiques on IG. In normal life I buy from them all the time. I have been extremely bitter the last few months, but still follow them. I'm also hitting up Nordstrom Anniversary sale today and I'm bummed to be sticking to shoes and accessories. At least I'll save some money.

  • Pumpkin spice is life. I hate that it’s only seasonal bc I feel like it should really be available year round to enjoy! Lol. In fact I freeze pumpkin spice coffee creamer before it’s off the shelves.

As for MLMs, I’ve definitely fallen victim. I became a LipSense distributor before it blew up, but never really got hard core bc then all the sudden every single person on my newsfeed was a distributor for something or another and I didn’t want to annoy people like they were annoying me. So I’m basically sitting on a bunch of stock that I can’t for the life of me sell. Never again! Lol
  • @smulrich16 @lachnessmomster yup! I just told my husband it's not fair he stays sexy and I feel like a fat blob. He always says my body is doing exactly what it should and I'm his sexy pregnant wife but it does not feel that way!
  • Wow, this thread touches on all the things!

I hate cold shoulder tops (shared that previously) and I'm not down with the skinny jeans.

I love huge trucks for recreational purposes (eg; offroading) however fake smoke stacks are ridiculous, just like when someone cuts their exhaust to make their car sound louder. It's over-the-top and I'm a fan of performance first, style later. For example, I love how much my Ford Flex is underestimated, it can run a 13 second quarter mile! But you wouldn't think that looking at it, because it just looks like a big ol' surfer wagon.

Not a fan of Prius cars, but I have seen a few decent drivers in them.

Pumpkin spice is whatever. It's all right once a year for me, but I don't feel like I need a whole lot of nutmeg in my life.

I am definitely annoyed at any MLM, pyramid scheme, amway, doTERRA, whatever. I don't need this stuff. I have enough stuff that I have to deal with, especially with two (and a half?) children.
  • @soehlerk I've never found a "cold shoulder" shirt that I liked and fit me correctly.  Maybe I have weirdly shaped shoulders but they never seem to actually hit at the shoulders and seem to be more like "cold upper arms" which is just weird.
Same here!!! I just can’t get into them

  • I kind of despise MLM’s. On the one hand I want to support other women trying to make extra $, but on the other it makes me really uncomfortable when people try to sell me things I don’t want or need. Especially when it’s someone I know. One morning at preschool drop off one of the other moms randomly tried to sell me those kids books that are like indestructible and it really rubbed me the wrong way. I especially can’t stand all of the cold sales attempts on IG. Do not message me saying I look like I’d be a good addition to your sales team when 98% of my photos are of my child.

I dont like when anyone other than my husband or parents FaceTime me unannounced. It feels like an invasion of privacy!

One of my FB friends (I went to school with her many many years ago but we don’t hang out) randomly messaged a picture of me with my daughter and tried to sell me rodan & fields. I guess my skin looked uneven in the picture. :/ Thanks but I don’t have a spare 200 to make my skin look “even” and also? unfriend.
  • @booksandcoffee immediately after my daughters birth an old “friend” messaged me, a plexus ambassador, telling me that she’s here for me whenever I’m ready to lose all that baby weight. I wanted to through punch her.
  • @emjohn517 omg! What did you say? How rude!
@booksandcoffee did she actually tell you your skin looked uneven? That's awful.

  • @emjohn517 I would have freaked out on her! I was explaining to a co-worker how you make more blood being pregnant and someone over heard. He then asked me if all the blood is what makes pregnant people blow up and used his hands to make a fat gesture. Let's say that didn't end well for him either

@booksandcoffee I cannot believe people. How is that a sales pitch? Please attempt to knock my self esteem down a few rungs so you can make a dime. Unbelievable
  • @booksandcoffee @emjohn517 What the hell is wrong with people? I hope y'all told them where to shove it!

What makes me so scared for the future is that so many people feel entitled to everything. There was a huge backlash for Build-a-Bear's "failure" that they had to close the lines early and didn't anticipate such huge crowds. I was surprised that so many people were so crazy upset about it, instead of just being thankful that BAB even offered that opportunity. I get that people were disappointed, but BAB was practically offering bears for free, so they can't expect it to last all day long or for BAB not to run out of bears.
I had been planning to take DD after work, but knew that the lines might be crazy. It was definitely much crazier than I expected, but instead, I took DD out for ice cream and we still had a good time. And BAB is offering $15 off coupons on their website, so I'm going to print one out and take DD another time.

  • @offtoneverland Don't even get me started on entitlement! My personal experience with it is every school year when kids treat my supplies/possessions as their own and ruin them in the process!
Anyways, yes it was great that BAB even offered the sale. They probably could have done it a little differently, but like you said, BAB  didn't anticipate such a huge turn out. I was also planning to take DS, but decided against it when I read about the lines in the UK having to be shut down. I'm super glad they made a voucher available! Now we have something else for DS to do in Houston with DH while I'm working.
