Had my appointment yesterday, 29.2w! OB recommended I get my dtap vaccine in the next few weeks as well as it seems there are more outbreaks these days. Unrelated though I was a bit disappointed at the OB. I've never liked her much because she never showed interest in anything that deviates from her usual and never tried to investigate but I didn't really mind since not too much is going on. However I have been struggling with quite a bit of pelvic pain (classic SPD symptoms) that she brushed off and told me to go get a belt at the pharmacy and walked away. As a fellow health care provider who gives so much it is just so disappointing to see colleagues who give so little in their work, because it could make such a big difference, and that made me a bit sad. I was strongly considering changing OB but at the hospital I will deliver it's whoever is on call, and how awkward would it be if I change OBs and she's the one on call when I deliver? I guess I'll tough it out, it's almost done anyway! I think if I'm term that only means 3 or 4 more visits with her, 1 of which she's on vacation so it'll be someone else. Just needed to rant somewhere, sorry for the long text! Edit because I can't English it seems.
I had my 28 week appointment yesterday. (I started writing a post yesterday but must not have hit post since I dont see it. Found it now. Lol.) My glucose and anemia tests from the last appointment were good. He's measuring right on schedule and has a strong heartbeat. I need to go to L/D for my Rhogam shot. With my daughter they did it at the practice. I know it probably depends on insurance and hospital policy but does anyone have experience going to the hospital for the shot? Would I have to be admitted? Pay a hospital copay? I'll check with the hospital and insurance, just wondering if anyone else has had this kind of experience.
@jessicag85 I'm not sure how that would work. Mine was at my practice, (which is also located in the hospital.) Maybe your practice's billing department can better explain how that process works in your case.
@BusinessWife Thanks! I like that this practice is smaller, but its kind of stressful when it comes to some of these things. Its like of anything happens my instructions are to go to L/ D. I get if its after hours or something thats a big red flag, but seriously stressful if its during the day and larger practices could handle an extra appointment which is the difference between $30 and $300 for me in terms of copays.
Have another monthly check-up tomorrow (the last one!), after that every 2 weeks... can't believe how fast it's all gone by... gonna talk to my doc about my pelvic pain, it's been really bad since Sunday... having a hard time getting around, although it is slightly better if I keep moving!
@tpeci - Would the other OBs be in the same practice? My office has a number of OBs and you rotate through them to meet them all so you've already met whichever dr ends up helping deliver your baby. If there are other OBs in your practice, and it's the on-call who delivers, that seems like a great reason to have appointments with the other OBs without feeling bad about leaving the one you've been seeing.

I don't think I updated here after my appointment on Tuesday. Everything is looking good (my BP, fetal HR, fundal height, etc.) Baby girl is head down with her back on the left side. I hope she stays head down! I have to go get my iron tested sometime in the next week.

Had my midwife appt today (29+1). Got my tdap. Had a good chat with my favorite mw about the gestational diabetes and felt great. Then we got to the exam portion and my fundal height was three weeks behind, so I had to have an unscheduled ultrasound. (This is exactly how I wound up on bedrest last pregnancy for borderline IUGR). Luckily, baby girl is measuring a whole week ahead at a whopping 3lbs 1oz and my fluid levels were good. She’s also head down, which is great, but she’s been shifting positions. Hopefully she stays happily vertex. Scheduled the next several appointments and am good to go for our beach trip next week.

I have a midwife appointment Friday at 31 weeks, plus a doula meet up. We'll do normal stuff, plus discuss breech options and how they relate to my SPD and if there's anything friendly to do for both.

@nlc8424 the class was okay, thanks. I had already found a lot of the information online, but they did explain the science of what’s going on a bit better. I was shocked that 4 of the 7 women couldn’t tell carbs from a nutrition label. Shocked. I also got my personalized meal plan.... which requires me to eat an insane amount of food. They want me to eat 210g of carbs a day (30 at breakfast, am, pm, and bedtime snacks, 45 at lunch and dinner). I’m reading a book called Real Food for GD that seems a bit more moderate and doable.
@spottedginger The podcast Birthful has an episode with the author of that book (Real Food for GD), and they discuss a whole bunch of issues around GD. I thought it was pretty interesting - possibly worth checking out!
@DanyTargaryen that's actually a really good idea, here they usually give you the appointments with the same doc. But maybe I'll ask to have appointments with other OBs without "officially" changing OBs. There are I think 10 different ones so I'm hoping my chances of getting someone else for the delivery is pretty good!
32 week appt today. Got my progesterone shot only 4 more weeks left of those yay!! Other than that pretty uneventful appt. Sometimes I wish appts weren’t every 2 weeks now but whatever. Work is kicking my rear. I over do it way too much.
Had my 30 week check-up today. Pretty standard, though the OB is going to refer me/baby to a pediatric nephrologist after consulting with my MFM due to his kidney dilation. Hopefully, it will be a lot of to do about nothing since his kidneys are not really "that" bad.
Appt went pretty great yesterday. BP still hanging out at the lower end of normal. Heart beat sounded good. I'm still gaining weight. Mostly just wanting me to keep an eye on those nightly contractions and come in if they set into any consistent pattern (besides being a nightly thing). Which I was doing anyway.
And I've now hit the point where I go in every two weeks O.O

Our office recommends you meet as many as possible but they still seem to default to scheduling you with whichever OB you just saw. I'm not worrying about it this time because I met them all last time, but last time I made sure to request any OB I hadn't met. Sounds like this is a great "out" for you to get away from that specific one! Especially with so many available, it seems like a great idea to rotate around to meet some more!

My office has 5 OBs and they also recommend you meet them all before delivery time. It’s tough, since the days/times most convenient for me are the days/times that some of the docs are on but not the others. I have to go out of my way to get an appointment with some!
Had appointment today. Just shy of 32 weeks. Wasn't supposed to have ultrasound but dr wanted to double check on Polly since I had an accident this morning. Polly was looking so good. She was moving around like crazy and I hadn't even had anything to eat or drink before the appointment. Pretty sure she was trying to let the ob know about how crazy of a driver her mom is. Anyways, Polly is measuring a full week and half ahead but ob said that it doesn't mean I'll deliver early. The ob also finally (!!) prescribed me something for the sickness, Protonix. She also wrote me a note stating it was ok for a dental x-ray.
My appointment yesterday went fine, other than taking a full hour. Because it was so late, I didn't even bring up the bleeding thing. I think I'll email my OB before the next appointment to give her a heads up that I want to chat about it.
I've been having some flashes of light in my peripheral vision once in a while, so I asked her about that. She said it's probably just a blood flow thing. I'll just pay attention to make sure it's not getting worse.
I had an epiphany the other day about why she was worried about my weight gain a few months ago. At my first appointment, I'd already gained probably close to 10 lb, and that put my BMI into the overweight category. They don't ask for a pre-pregnancy weight at all, so I think she's been monitoring me for a different weight gain than I've been assuming.

@treeofcheem My OB moniters from the 8 week weight (or whenever your first appointment was). I lost about 8 pounds in the first few weeks of January - before I saw her. So the weight she has me starting at was lower than my pre-pregnancy weight. I was worried that I was gaining too little. She finally explained her starting point to me and it all made sense why she was happy with it. They seem to care about the rate at which you gain more than the actual numbers...just my observation.
My appt yesterday at exactly 30 weeks went great, everything looks good and lil babe was pushing so hard on the Doppler while doc was checking out his heartbeat got my tdap, man I forget how sore you get from it! I should have had it in the left arm...
Had two unscheduled appointments and an unscheduled ultrasound this week. Monday my vision was blurry across one eye and then Tuesday had upper right pain. I had severe pre-eclampsia with DD1 so called right away both days. BP was fine though and ultrasound showed LO was doing good!
I had blurriness in one eye this wknd as well. I never had that with my first so it scared me! But my BP was finr as well. I wonder if that is just a common pregnancy symptom?
