  • @PensiveCrayon thank you!  I hope your appointment with the new OB is pleasant. Hopefully you're doula's recommendation is right on.
  • @echo-charlietango Even if you can't, you probably aren't being graded. Probably.

I've got a 7:30 am appointment bright and early Monday morning. I'll be interested to see what I've gained; we don't have a scale at home so I have no idea, but I definitely feel like I'm getting enormous. Also currently rocking a helluva sinus infection, so I'm excited for the immediate post-office visit pharmacy trip to get whatever my doctor tells me I can safely take to keep my face from exploding.
  • @PensiveCrayon I'm excited for your new OB appt too! I hope the babysitter works out well, I was just looking for doggie daycares for my little furricane - his separation anxiety is a blaaaaast.

@scaredunprepared I'm happy that the spotting hasn't returned! Hope you get your SO's carrier results too - FX!

@AGK2015 It's easier to assume that I'm being graded, so that if I am - I am ready. Haha! Meanwhile, I haven't even picked up a pen. I hope your appointment goes well, and that you can take meds ASAP - sinus pain is the worst.

  • @echo-charlietango and @PensiveCrayon I hope you both love your new OB's! (and that your baby sitter works out, Pensive).

@AGK2015 Boo to sinus infections! Hope your appointment went well and you can get some relief now!

@countrygirl624 Hello EDD buddy! I also have my AS tomorrow at 18 weeks 3 days - I'm so excited, but also nervous! We're also finding out baby bean's sex at the scan. Your shower theme sounds so cute! FX for a great scan!

  • How weird would it be to bring my 6yo DD to an appointment? I think she'd LOVE to hear the baby's heartbeat, and she's generally well behaved and can sit still for the amount of time I'd be there. I just don't want to be some weirdo bringing her kid along if that's a no-no.

  • @runrinserepeat I think it might be weird if you had to do an internal exam and she was in the room with you, at least I'd be weirded out by that. But just a regular Doppler appt or ultrasound I think is perfectly fine!
  • Good luck to all who have appointments this week!  <3

  • @runrinserepeat I think the next internal would be when they do the strep check, and then after that probably just checking your cervix once you're full term/over.
  • @runrinserepeat I got stuck bringing my 2 year old along one time and nobody batted an eye. I'd say go for it!
  •  @mag1cbeli3ver Thanks girl! I hope your scan goes good too!! Can’t wait to find out what we’re both having tomorrow!!!  :)
  • My OB appointment is Tuesday at 8 am. I figure it'll be about the same...hear baby's heartbeat and measure fundal height. I'm a little weirded out that they haven't taken any blood or urine since I was 9 weeks, but maybe thats normal? I also haven't had any pelvic checks whatsoever.

Just read @runrinserepeat's post. So I'm good on internal checks until 35 or so weeks. Cool. I don't particularly enjoy that anyway lol

  • @binxybaby They did a quick pelvic exam at my 10 week/first scan and then also took a gallon of blood at that time. I went in at 15 weeks to hear the heartbeat and peed in a cup and that’s been it so far til tomorrow!
  • @binxybaby yeah, I had a pelvic at my first one... just no real reason to do it again until the end, I don't think (unless something is wrong).

They also haven't had me pee in a cup at all this time around, which seems weird but whatever, I hate doing that anyway.

  • @binxybaby I had a pelvic exam and some bloods drawn when I was six weeks - but I was only in early like that because I am PGAL. Besides that I only peed in a cup every four weeks, and gave a quick vial or two of blood for my NIPT at 10 weeks. All of that was with my old OB, not sure what the norm is with my new practice!
Hope your appointment tomorrow is still a good one though

  • @scaredunprepared FX that you get your results!

@runrinserepeat that is adorable!  My 6 year olds are totally into this baby as well.  Let me know how she does at the appointment.  I've been debating taking my kids (not all at once) to an appointment because I know they would love it, but I'm also not sure if they can go in for an ultrasound (which I'm getting weekly right now)?  Maybe I'll ask at my next appointment.

Not weird at all. Bring her! Especially if she is excited.
  • @snugglyduckling25 why wouldn’t they be able to be there for the ultrasound? My son attended the one I had at 11w.

  • @binxybaby My OB doesn't start doing urine samples at each appointment until 28 weeks/GD testing. I had one at 9 weeks with all my blood work, but that was it.

  • @runrinserepeat I'm not sure - I received the instructions for my anatomy scan awhile back and it said you had to be over 8 to be in the room for the entire scan and under 8 could come in for the last 10 minutes.  But I'm thinking if I'm getting weekly appointments that are not as thorough as an anatomy scan it should be fine? I'm pretty sure they would sit there and not interrupt the tech anyway.
  • Oh, weird. I told one of my friends, a sonographer, that I didn't think we'd have much choice but to bring both kids to the a/s. She told me that 75% of the people she scans bring younger siblings, and that it was probably totally fine. I suppose different places have different policies, though.

  • @gorgeousariel good luck at your appointment tomorrow! I’m sorry you’re still bleeding, fx it’s just the sch getting smaller.
  • @gorgeousariel I really hope your spotting stops soon!  I know how anxious it can make you :(  just think positive thoughts, that's what I did for my three months of bleeding!
  • @runrinserepeat Tell me your review of Zantac! That's what I might be stepping up to after my next appointment (from Pepcid/Tums.) Would love to know if it's a significant improvement!

@echo-charlietango Oh my god I want to get a virgin pina colada right now! That was something I treated myself to on my babymoon last time around and I remember it being delicious.

AFM, I just have an endocrinologist appointment Friday to check on my thyroid levels. They have (luckily) been awesome and rock steady this time around, so if I have another appointment where they don't have to change my medication, I don't have to come back until late third tri! (Which would be amazing because my endocrinologist's office is kind of far and very annoying to get to during rush hour or lunch hours.)
  • @maureenmce hoping for good news for you!
Good luck to everyone with apts this week!!

I'm in on Thursday with my GP. Just the usual measurement, weight check and doppler. Looking forward to hearing that little heartbeat again!

  • Just had my OB appointment. Baby seem fine. I heard his heartbeat on the doppler. Did seem a little faint and hard to find, but that could be positioning. *TW* However, when nurse found out I'd had the NIPT, she said that women who get abortions after finding out their babies have chromosomal abnormalities will be punished by God and won't be able to have any more babies. *End TW*

Doctor also said I've gained too much weight in the past four weeks. I lost 6-7 lbs in my 1st trimester and am only up 2 lbs over my pre-pregnancy weight so that made me feel like shit.

Overall, terrible appointment. I just have to remind myself that the most important thing is a healthy baby. I can put up with everything else if baby is healthy.
    Pregnancy TickerSaveSave
  • @binxybaby WTF. I hope you complained to someone that she said that.  What a terrible thing to say, even if she believes it, its NOT appropriate to say to someone. Your OB practice sounds terrible!
  • @binxybaby Yikes! That nurse was totally out of line! (Also, do people get NIPT with that intent?! DH and I just wanted a heads up if kiddo needed a specialist - never considered termination :open_mouth:) And I would be upset about the OB’s reaction to the weight change too :rage:

Would you be able/willing to change OBs before your next appointment? I only ask because my new one is wonderful, and @PensiveCrayon is meeting her new OB today. They do work for you, and you don’t have to put up with their shenanigans if you can choose
