Re: Questions 6/29

  • Has anyone tried KT tape for belly support? I'm trying it before I buy a support belt.
  • Loading the player...
  • @sammierose464 not at all helpful for your question, but I did get a support belt for working out and I think it helps for that, and also if I'm cooking/standing on my feet for a while. I see a lot of pinterest things about KT tape helping though!
  • A friend told me her sister loved the support belt even for sitting long periods. So far the tape seems to be helping. Although, I couldn't do the tape along my lower belly because I have really bad stretch marks there.

Anyone take their in laws or parents along to an ultrasound? I know my step dad would enjoy it as he never had kids of his own. Not sure how weird it would be to offer all in laws and parents. Of course assuming it is ok with the hospital/tech.
  • Besides it being crowded in the room, I feel like it’s a cute idea if he’d enjoy it!

My mother in law came with me to one of my 2nd 20 week ultrasound appointment to get more images. I knew she would love it as they never had ultrasounds for when she was pregnant with DH.

  • @SweetSweetTooth I took my Mom along to my follow up U/S.
  • @HoosOnFirst that is what my husband said! Lol but he was remembering the normal ob patient room not the ultrasound room. Our ultrasound room was surprisingly large!
  • I would take my mom. She might come to one of my regular Dr appts. She asked to come to an ultrasound but I only get the 2 most likely.
  • @SweetSweetTooth

I realized after my AS that I totally wanted to share that experience with my Mom.  So, we are doing an elective ultrasound in a few days along with my Dad and one of Mom’s best friends.

I would not have felt weird at all about my in-laws going to one with me when I was married. (But that totally would depend on people’s relationships with their in-laws).
  • @SweetSweetTooth Our doctors office only allows 2 people besides me, so we decided not to. If I invited my mom then my MIL would want to go, and along with her always comes her mom (Grandma-in-law) and SIL. I wouldn’t feel weird about having MIL there, but I just hate that she can’t ever do anything by herself and always has to invite everyone else in the family, even if it isn’t we her party. So it just wouldn’t work for us, but I would have loved to have my mom there if she lived closer. I am taking my mom to my 24 week appointment on Friday since she is in town. She will at least get to hear his heartbeat.

We never allowed any family outside of DH and our kid(s). Since it’s a medical procedure, my OB’s office requests that we not bring anyone else.

If we decide to do an elective 3D/4D ultrasound again this time, we’ll invite family since there’s usually a lot of space in those rooms and they allow guests.

  • I don’t want anyone there but H. U/s is my private time.

question...do you think carpet cleaning is necessary? Our are two years old, no previous owner, but we do have two dogs. I dread the thought of pulling out all the furniture to clean it...
  • @chopchop25 I love getting the carpets cleaned by someone else. If you hire a company usually you don’t have to move the furniture. We’ve used Sears and been happy.
  • @chopchop25 I love getting the carpets cleaned. We have a carpet cleaner so we clean the carpets every 2-3 months (dogs), but we have them professionally cleaned usually every year or two. I’m planning to have them done again in late September/early October right before the baby is born. Depending on the company you use, they will usually move the furniture, or clean around it.

  • How do I know if what I am feeling are Braxton Hicks contractions vs the baby stretching? It feels sometimes like my uterus gets very hard and tight, but it legit only lasts for 3-5 seconds, and its almost as if the baby is moving or turning in there so I cant tell what it is. Any STM+ have any thoughts?

@kiwi2628 from what I know that sounds like BH.  I had no idea that’s what I was having until after I gave birth.  I thought it was just DD being crazy in there  :#
  • @kiwi2628 it sounds like BH. They make
me feel a bit breathless too. If your whole belly gets hard and tight it’s BH. If you just feel the tightness in one area it’s probably movement.

So how do the dresses on pink blush typically fit?? I think my biggest concern is the models have zero boobs on em and I am lucky enough to fill out a dress. I'm normally a large in most clothing so I'm already planning on going up a size since my shower isn't for another 7 weeks and I'm sure the babies will make me look huge..
Next question is there any brands or recommendations for maternity clothes for moms with multiples or do u just keep jumping up and guessing my size??

@mamabearcj I have found the dresses true to size with their size chart. I'm usually a large - size 10, c cup pre-pregnancy w/ a little extra weight around the mid-section and big hips (man this is making me miss the size I was at my wedding, but those days are gone) - and the large dresses fit just right.

The only two things I found in my shopping experience were:
    1. Because they're cotton and not super high quality (but not bad!) they tend to show curves and bumps. The patterned dresses I found more flattering on me, as they showed less.
    2. Check the hem length. Some of the dresses are longer than others and so I found some at the length I liked now, but realized as the bump grew that length would get shorter. Some of the A-line dresses were still a bit longer, though, without being full length, which worked for me.

But, free shipping and free returns...so order a ton and have a fashion show to see what works for you!
  • @mamabwarcj Well I’m plus sized *and* big boobed. I have the same maxi dress in two different colors and that’s all I fit into. Anything lower or deeper showed my bra.

@mamabearcj If you spend more than 150 it’s free 2 day. Otherwise I think a week + processing, but I’m sure that depends on where you live. If you need it urgently I’d say just hit 150 since you can always return for free.

edit update: I ordered tonight and it says delivery by Tuesday. Not sure where it’s shipping from, but I’d guess CA since that’s a short transit to PNW.

Oh lord there's no way I can justify spending 150.. I just did free standard. I could've done 5.00 for 2 day but I'm good waiting, I don't need it till August and I found a nice robe and hopefully wont need that till October!
  • I can’t either, I just returned a bunch of them and kept my absolute favorites. You’re a much better consumer :)
  • @mamabearcj maybe too late now, but I find their size charts to be accurate, but in general they run smaller. I have wide shoulders so the large fits me best, and is only a little big for my 32G chest. I can wear most dresses but nothing skin tight, because my butt is too big for them lol. To be fair, I haven't tried any in an XL, but I think it would be too big in the boobs.
