Anyone else have a large Subchorionic Hematoma/Hemorrhage?

Hi guys!

im currently 11weeks with twins and just found out I have a very large SCH on baby B’s placenta. The Maternal Fetal Medicine Doctor told us that this puts us at an increased risk for miscarriage and that the fact that I’m “still pregnant” is a good sign. I had one with my DD but I don’t remember them ever being this worried about it. Just looking for some reassurance and support! I’m so nervous! Thanks

  • I’ve seen gigantic SCH’s like I won’t try to totally scare you but imagine your worst period ever and clots the size of softballs and she still had a healthy little boy so.... just try to relax and know that it can work out. I bled every time as well and always had healthy baby’s. Hugs and good luck.

  • @wildcat2017 I was in the ER last weekend with heavy bleeding and thats when I found out I had a SCH. Scared me to death. I talked with my doctor, and he thinks it will go away as the baby continues to get bigger. I was 11w1d when I found out as well. They will continue to monitor it and make sure it doesn't continue to grow. After reading a lot of blogs about them, I felt better knowing majority of women go on to have normal healthy baby.
  • I had/have a relatively large one, discovered it around 6 or 7 weeks because I started bleeding heavily. It was so scary. They’ve been monitoring me closely with ultrasounds and they said it had nearly resolved on it’s own. I’m 12 weeks today.

  • I have a " larger than normal" SCH. I started bleeding at 7w, so they brought me in to do an ultrasound. It has gotten better but because of the size they said it could take up to 20w for mine to go away. Sorry you have one. There are a number of ladies on the board with one as well so we can all hope ours goes away without further complications.
  • Thank you guys so much for your responses! It makes me feel less alone in this scary situation! Let’s all keep each other updated! I have ultrasounds weekly and just praying so hard this SCH resolves. Hoping the same for all of you ladies! Xo
  • I’m so glad yours has resolved! Mine was discovered at 7 weeks but at 11 weeks, is still there and very big. Best of luck to you in your pregnancy!
  • Sorry to hear you have a large one. Hoping that by 20 weeks it is totally gone. Does anyone know if it’s better to bleed out the clot or to absorb it? I haven’t bled but a tiny amount and feel like it would be better to just get it all out? Thanks!
